We prove a removable singularities theorem for stationary Einstein equations, with useful implications for constructions of stationary solutions using soliton methods.
Exhaustive ghost solutions to Einstein-Weyl equations for two dimensional spacetimes are obtained, where the ghost neutrinos propagate in the background spacetime, but do not influence the background spacetime due to the vanishing stress-energy-momentum tensor for the ghost neutrinos. Especially, those non-trivial ghost solutions provide a counterexample to the traditional claim that the Einstein-Hilbert action has no meaningful two dimensional analogue.
Ghost neutrinos in radiative Kerr spacetime endowed with totally skew-symmetric Cartan contortion is presented. The computations are made by using the Newman-Penrose (NP) calculus. The model discussed here maybe useful in several astrophysical applications specially in black hole astrophysics.
We consider the asymptotic-safety scenario for quantum gravity which constructs a non-perturbatively renormalisable quantum gravity theory with the help of the functional renormalisation group. We verify the existence of a non-Gaussian fixed point and include a running curvature-ghost coupling as a first step towards the flow of the ghost sector of the theory. We find that the scalar curvature-ghost coupling is asymptotically free and RG relevant in the ultraviolet. Most importantly, the property of asymptotic safety discovered so far within the Einstein-Hilbert truncation and beyond remains s…
We discuss ghost free models of the recently suggested mimetic dark matter theory. This theory is shown to be a conformal extension of Einstein general relativity. Dark matter originates from gauging out its local Weyl invariance as an extra degree of freedom which describes a potential flow of the pressureless perfect fluid. For a positive energy density of this fluid the theory is free of ghost instabilities, which gives strong preference to stable configurations with a positive scalar curvature and trace of the matter stress tensor. Instabilities caused by caustics of the geodesic flow, inh…
A parameter-independent notion of stationary slow motion is formulated then applied to the case of stationary rotation of massless trapped ghosts. The excitations correspond to a rotation mode with angular momentum $J\neq 0$ and twist modes. It is found that the rotation mode, which has no parity, causes excess in the angular velocity of dragged distant coordinate frames in one sheet of the wormhole while in the other sheet the angular velocity of the ghosts is that of rotating stars: $2J/r^3$. As to the twist modes, which all have parity, they cause excess in the angular velocity of one of th…
In this article a new solution of the Einstein-Dirac's equations is presented. There are ghost spinors, i.e. the stress-energy tensor is equal to zero and the current of these fields is non-zero vector. Last the ghost neutrino was found. These ghost spinors and shadow particles of Deutsch are identified. And in result the ghost spinors have a physical interpretation and solutions of the field equations for shadow electrons as another shadow particles are found.
If the kinetic interactions of a Lorentz-invariant massive graviton are Einstein-Hilbert, then the only possible potential terms free from the Boulware-Deser ghost are those of de Rham, Gabadadze and Tolley (dRGT). We point out there are other possibilities if the kinetic terms are not required to be Einstein-Hilbert. We construct pseudo-linear ghost-free potentials, terms that derive in a natural way from the linear theory. The simplicity of this approach allows us to construct diffeomorphism non-invariant higher-derivative interaction terms that do not introduce ghosts. We conjecture that th…
We construct exact pp-wave solutions of ghost-free infinite derivative gravity and demonstrate that the sourceless theory does not bring any pp-wave solutions save for that of Einstein's gravity. These waves described in the Kerr-Schild form also solve the linearized field equations of the theory. We also find an exact gravitational shock wave with non-singular curvature invariants and with a finite limit in the ultraviolet regime of non-locality which is in contrast to the divergent limit in Einstein's theory.
A class of dynamical dark energy models is constructed through an extended version of fermion fields corresponding to phantom dark ghost spinors, which are spin one half with mass dimension one. We find that if these spinors interact with torsion fields in a homogeneous and isotropic universe, then it does not imply any future dark energy singularity or any abrupt event, though the fermion has a negative kinetic energy. In fact, the equation of state of this dark energy model will asymptotically approach the value $w=-1$ from above without crossing the phantom divide and inducing therefore a d…
Recently proposed "critical" higher-derivative gravities in $AdS_D$ $D>3$ are expected to carry logarithmic representation of the Anti de Sitter isometry group. In this note, we quantize linear fluctuations of these critical gravities, which are known to be either identical with linear fluctuations of Einstein's gravity or else satisfy logarithmic boundary conditions at spacial infinity. We identify the scalar product uniquely defined by the symplectic structure implied by the classical action, and show that it does not posses null vectors. Instead, we show that the scalar product between any …
Bi-tensor kernel in integral form of Einstein equations realizing Mach's idea of non-existence of empty space-times is taken as an inverse of differential operator ("Mach operator") defined conventionally as a second variation of Einstein's gravity Action over contravariant components of metric tensor. The choice of transverse gauge condition used in this definition does not influence results of the paper since only transverse and traceless tensor modes written on different background space-times are studied. Presence of ghosts among modes of Mach operator invalidates the integral formulation …
We study a non-local ghost-free Lorentz invariant modification of the Maxwell equations in four- and higher-dimensional flat spacetimes. We construct solutions of these equations for stationary charged and magnetized objects and use them to find the field created by such objects moving with the speed of light.
Here we describe a stationary cylindrically symmetric solution of Einstein's equation with matter consisting of a positive cosmological and rotating dust term. The solution approaches Einstein static universe solution.
Here I present a stationary cylindrically symmetric asymptotically Einstein static universe solution with the matter consisting of a cosmological and rotating dust term which admits predicted black hole event horizon.
Four-dimensional Einstein gravity in the Palatini first order formalism is shown to possess a vector supersymmetry of the same type as found in the topological theories for Yang-Mills fields. A peculiar feature of the gravitational theory, characterized by diffeomorphism invariance, is a direct link of vector supersymmetry with the field equation of motion for the Faddeev-Popov ghost of diffeomorphisms.
We consider black hole in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet(EGB) gravity in a dynamical setup and also the stationary black hole in recently discovered\cite{Glavan} $4$-dimensional novel Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. For dynamical EGB black hole in completely local settings we calculate the temperature associated with the horizon. For the stationary black hole in $4$-dimensional novel EGB theory we explore the thermodynamic properties including calculation of temperature and entropy.
In this article a new stationary cylindrically symmetric solution of the Einstein's field equations with cosmological constant and Time machine is given. The garavitational field is created by ideal liquid with three massless scalar fields or by ideal liquid with electric-magnetic field and massless scalar field.
A new formalism for construction of the stationary solutions is developed for the four-dimensional gravity coupled to the dilaton, Kalb-Ramond and two Maxwell fields in a low-energy heterotic string theory form. The result of generation is automatically invariant in respect to subgroup of the stationary charging symmetry transformations; the generation can be started from the stationary Einstein-Maxwell fields. The formalism is given both in real and new compact complex form, the result of maximal symmetry extension of the stationary Einstein-Maxwell theory to discussing string gravity model i…
We take a step towards characterising stationary data for the vacuum Einstein equations, by finding a necessary condition on initial data for which the evolution is a solution of the vacuum equations admitting a Killing vector, which is time-like at least in some region of the Cauchy development.
Following the technique of Müller-zum-Hagen, refs [1,2], we show that strictly static and strictly stationary solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations are analytic in harmonic coordinates. This holds whether or not the Maxwell field inherits the symmetry.
Some time ago Dvali, Gabadadze and Senjanovic (hep-ph/9910207) discussed brane world scenarios with time-like extra dimensions. In this paper we construct a solitonic 3-brane solution in the 5-dimensional Einstein-Hilbert-Gauss-Bonnet theory with the space-time signature (-,+,+,+,-). The direction transverse to the brane is the second time-like direction. The solitonic brane is $δ$-function like, and has the property that gravity is completely localized on the brane. That is, there are no propagating degrees of freedom in the bulk, while on the brane we have purely 4-dimensional Einstein gravi…
Clairin's method of obtaining Bäcklund transformations is applied to Einstein's field equations for the interior of a uniformly rotating stationary axisymmetric perfect fluid. It is shown that for arbitrary pressure $p$ and mass density $μ$ the method does not give non-trivial Bäcklund transformations, while if $μ+ 3p =0$ it gives the transformation of Ehlers.
In this work we present an approximate solution of the Einstein equations describing a global model for the gravitational field generated by a bounded, self-gravitating stationary and axisymmetric body rotating rigidly with constant angular velocity.
We consider asymptotically-flat, static and stationary solutions of the Einstein equations representing Einstein-Maxwell space-times in which the Maxwell field is not constant along the Killing vector defining stationarity, so that the symmetry of the space-time is not inherited by the electromagnetic field. We find that static degenerate black hole solutions are not possible and, subject to stronger assumptions, nor are static, non-degenerate or stationary black holes. We describe the possibilities if the stronger assumptions are relaxed.
We consider the Szekeres universe with an inhomogeneous dust fluid and a homogeneous and isotropic ghost matter source with equation of state $p_{g}=\left( γ-1\right) ρ_{g},$ where $γ$ is a constant. The field equations determine two families of spacetimes which describe homogeneous Kantowski-Sachs universes and inhomogeneous Friedmann universe. The ghost field Einstein permits static and cyclic solutions to exist. The stability of the Einstein static and cyclic solutions are studied with a critical point analysis.
In this paper we prove that in a stationary axisymmetric SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills theory the most reasonable circularity conditions that can be considered for the Yang-Mills fields imply in fact that the field is of embedded Abelian type, or else that the metric is not asymptotically flat.
In the present paper we investigate the general problem of uniqueness of the stationary black solutions in 5D Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with arbitrary dilaton coupling parameter containing the Einstein-Maxwell gravity as a particular case. We formulate and prove uniqueness theorems classifying the stationary black hole solutions in terms of their interval structure, electric and magnetic charges and the magnetic fluxes. The proofs are based on the nonpositivity of the Riemann curvature operator on the space of the potentials which imposes restrictions on the dilaton coupling parameter.
The assumption that a solution to the Einstein equations is static (or stationary) very strongly constrains the asymptotic behaviour of the metric. It is shown that one need only impose very weak differentiability and decay conditions {\it a priori} on the metric for the field equations to force the metric to be analytic near infinity and to have the standard Schwarzschildian falloff.
We reduce Einstein's field equations for the interior of a uniformly rotating, axisymmetric perfect fluid to a system of six second order partial differential equations for the pressure p the energy density $μ$ and four dependent variables.Four of these equations do not depend on p and $μ$ and the other two determine p and $μ$.
We construct a one-parameter family of stationary axisymmetric and asymptotically flat spacetimes solutions to the Einstein-Vlasov system bifurcating from the Kerr spacetime. The constructed solutions have the property that the spatial support of the matter is a finite, axisymmetric shell located away from the black hole. Our proof is mostly based on the analysis of the set of trapped timelike geodesics for stationary axisymmetric spacetimes close to Kerr, where the geodesic flow is not necessarily integrable. Moreover, the analysis of the Einstein field equations relies on the modified Carter…
We investigate the generalized Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) ghost model of dark energy in the framework of Einstein gravity. First, we study the non-interacting generalized ghost dark energy in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) background. We obtain the equation of state parameter, $w_D=p/ρ$, the deceleration parameter, and the evolution equation of the generalized ghost dark energy. We find that, in this case, $w_D$ cannot cross the phantom line ($w_D>-1$) and eventually the universe approaches a de-Sitter phase of expansion $(w_D\rightarrow-1)$. Then, we extend the study to the interac…
The Einstein-Maxwell equations in D-dimensions admitting (D-3) commuting Killing vector fields have been investigated. The existence of the electric, magnetic and twist potentials have been proved. The system is formulated as the harmonic map coupled to gravity on three-dimensional base space generalizing the Ernst system in the four-dimensional stationary Einstein-Maxwell theory. Some classes of the new exact solutions have been provided, which include the electro-magnetic generalization of the Myers-Perry solution, which describes the rotating black hole immersed in a magnetic universe, and …
We derive two new integral mass formulas for stationary black holes in Einstein-Yang-Mills theory. From these we derive a formula for $ \J Ω-Q V $, from which it follows immediately that any stationary, nonrotating, uncharged black hole is static and has vanishing electric field on the static slices. In the Einstein-Maxwell case, we have, in addition, the ``generalized Smarr mass formula", for which we provide a new, simple derivation. When combined with the other two formulas, we obtain a simple proof that nonrotating Einstein-Maxwell black holes must be static and have vanishing magnetic fie…
We apply the energy-momentum tensor which is coordinate independent to calculate the energy content of the axisymmetric solutions. Our results are compared with what have been obtained before within the framework of Einstein general relativity and Møler's tetrad theory of gravitation.
We prove the uniqueness theorem for stationary axisymmetric black hole solution in Einstein-Maxwell-axion-dilaton gravity being the low-energy limit of the heterotic string theory. We consider both non-degenerate and extremal Kerr-Sen black hole solutions.
A new formalism for generation of solutions in the consistently truncated low-energy bosonic string theory is developed. This formalism gives a correspondence of the projection type between the theories toroidally compactified from the diverse to three dimensions. Taking the stationary Einstein-dilaton gravity as the theory with a lower dimension, we generate its bosonic string theory extension and calculate the bosonic string theory solution corresponding to the Kerr-NUT one modified by the presence of the charged dilaton field.
It is proved that the only geodesically complete stationary vacuum solution of the Einstein equations is the empty Minkowski space, or a quotient of it by a discrete group of isometries, generalizing a classical result of Lichnerowicz. In addition, we obtain an apriori bound on the curvature of stationary vacuum solutions away from the boundary or horizon.
We compute the ghost anomalous dimension within the asymptotic-safety scenario for quantum gravity. For a class of covariant gauge fixings and using a functional RG scheme, the anomalous dimension $η_c$ is negative, implying an improved UV behavior of ghost fluctuations. At the non-Gaussian UV fixed point, we observe a maximum value of $η_c\simeq -0.78$ for the Landau-deWitt gauge within the given scheme and truncation. Most importantly, the backreaction of the ghost flow onto the Einstein-Hilbert sector preserves the non-Gaussian fixed point with only mild modifications of the fixed-point val…
We proved that strictly stationary Einstein-Maxwell-axion-dilaton spacetime with negative cosmological constant could not support a nontrivial configuration of complex scalar fields. We considered the general case of the arbitrary number of U(1) gauge fields in the theory under consideration.
Using the Kaluza-Klein structure of stationary spacetimes, a framework for analyzing stationary perturbations of static Einstein-Yang-Mills configurations with bosonic matter fields is presented. It is shown that the perturbations giving rise to non-vanishing ADM angular momentum are governed by a self-adjoint system of equations for a set of gauge invariant scalar amplitudes. The method is illustrated for SU(2) gauge fields, coupled to a Higgs doublet or a Higgs triplet. It is argued that slowly rotating black holes arise generically in self-gravitating non-Abelian gauge theories with bosonic…
Stationary, axisymmetric, vacuum, solutions of Einstein's equations are obtained as critical points of the total mass among all axisymmetric and $(t,ϕ)$ symmetric initial data with fixed angular momentum. In this variational principle the mass is written as a positive definite integral over a spacelike hypersurface. It is also proved that if absolute minimum exists then it is equal to the absolute minimum of the mass among all maximal, axisymmetric, vacuum, initial data with fixed angular momentum. Arguments are given to support the conjecture that this minimum exists and is the extreme Kerr i…
A class of stationary rigidly rotating perfect fluid coupled with non-linear electromagnetic fields was investigated. An exact solution of the Einstein equations with sources for the Carter B(+) branch was found, for the equation of state $3p + ε= constant$. We use a structural function for the Born-Infeld non-linear electrodynamics which is invariant under duality rotations and a metric possessing a four- parameter group of motions. The solution is of Petrov type D and the eigenvectors of the electromagnetic field are aligned to the Debever-Penrose vectors.
We review explicit solutions to the stationary axisymmetric Einstein-Maxwell equations which can be interpreted as disks of charged dust. The disks of finite or infinite extension are infinitesimally thin and constitute a surface layer at the boundary of an electro-vacuum. The Einstein-Maxwell equations in the presence of one Killing vector are obtained by using a projection formalism. The SU(2,1) invariance of the stationary Einstein-Maxwell equations can be used to construct solutions for the electro-vacuum from solutions to the pure vacuum case via a so-called Harrison transformation. It is…
We study stationary axially symmetric solutions of the Einstein vacuum field equations that can be used to describe the gravitational field of astrophysical compact objects in the limiting case of slow rotation and slight deformation. We derive explicitly the exterior Sedrakyan-Chubaryan approximate solution, and express it in analytical form, which makes it practical in the context of astrophysical applications. In the limiting case of vanishing angular momentum, the solution reduces to the well-known Schwarzschild solution in vacuum. We demonstrate that the new solution is equivalent to the …
New axisymmetric stationary solutions of the vacuum Einstein equations in five-dimensional asymptotically flat spacetimes are obtained by using solitonic solution-generating techniques. The new solutions are shown to be equivalent to the four-dimensional multi-solitonic solutions derived from particular class of four-dimensional Weyl solutions and to include different black rings from those obtained by Emparan and Reall.
We study the ghost-free bimetric theory of Hassan and Rosen, with parameters $β_i$ such that a flat Minkowski solution exists for both metrics. We show that, expanding around this solution and eliminating one of the two metrics with its own equation of motion, the remaining metric is governed by the Einstein-Hilbert action plus a non-local term proportional to $W_{μνρσ} (\Box-m^2)^{-1}W^{μνρσ}$, where $W_{μνρσ}$ is the Weyl tensor. The result is valid to quadratic order in the metric perturbation and to all orders in the derivative expansion. This example shows, in a simple setting, how such n…
The main purpose of this contribution is to determine physical and geometrical characterizations of whole classes of stationary cyclic symmetric gravitational fields coupled to Maxwell electromagnetic fields within the $(2+1)$-dimensional gravity. The physical characterization is based on the determination of the local and global energy-momentum-mass quantities using the Brown-York approach. As far as to the algebraic-geometrical characterization is concerned, the eigenvalue problem for the electromagnetic field, energy-momentum and Cotton tensors is solved and their types are established. The…
We study the gravitational field of ultrarelativistic spinning objects (gyratons) in a modified gravity theory with higher derivatives. In particular, we focus on a special class of such theories with an infinite number of derivatives known as "ghost-free gravity" that include a non-local form factor such as $\exp(-\Box\ell^2)$, where $\ell$ is the scale of non-locality. First, we obtain solutions of the linearized ghost-free equations for stationary spinning objects. To obtain gyraton solutions we boost these metrics and take their Penrose limit. This approach allows us to perform calculation…
We prove that in Einstein-Maxwell theory the inequality $(8πJ)^2+(4πQ^2)^2 < A^2$ holds for any sub-extremal axisymmetric and stationary black hole with arbitrary surrounding matter. Here $J, Q$, and $A$ are angular momentum, electric charge, and horizon area of the black hole, respectively.
Motivated by the ghost condensate model, we study the Randall-Sundrum (RS) brane-world with an arbitrary function of the higher derivative kinetic terms, $\mathcal{P}(X)$, where $X=-(\nabla ϕ)^{2}$. The five-dimensional Einstein equations reduce to two equations of motion with a constraint between $\mathcal{P}(X)$ and the five-dimensional cosmological constant on the brane. For a static extra dimension, $\mathcal{P}(X)$ has solutions for both a negative kinetic scalar (so called {\textit{ghost}}) as well as an ordinary scalar field. However ghost condensation cannot take place. We show that sm…
The derivation of the general solutions for stationary and static cylindrically symmetric Einstein spaces of Lewis form is revisited and the physical and geometrical meaning of the parameters appearing in the resulting solutions are investigated. It is shown that three of the parameters (and the value of the cosmological constant) are essential, of which one characterizes the local gravitational field and appears in the Cartan scalars, while the remaining two give information about the topological identification made to produce cylindrical symmetry. Other than the cosmological constant, they c…
The first exact rotating charged black hole solution to the Einstein{nonlinear electrodynamics theory is reported. It is equipped with mass, rotation parameter, electric and magnetic charges, and three parameters due to the electrodynamics: beta is associated to the potential vectors A{mu} and starP{nu}, and two constants, F0 and G0, related to the presence of the invariants F and G in the Lagrangian L(F;G). This Petrov type D solution is characterized by the Weyl tensor eigenvalue Psi2, the Ricci tensor eigenvalue S = 2Phi(11), and the scalar curvature R; it allows for event horizons, exhibit…
We obtain the most general explicit (anti)self-dual solution of the Einstein equations. We find that any (anti)self-dual solution can be characterised by three free functions of which one is harmonic. Any stationary (anti)self-dual solution can be characterised by a harmonic function. It turns out that the form of the Gibbons and Hawking multi-center metrics is the most general stationary (anti)self-dual solution. We further note that the stationary (anti)self-dual Einstein equations can be reinterpreted as the (anti)self-dual Maxwell equations on the Euclidean background metric.
We provide a geometric framework for the construction of non-vacuum black holes whose metrics are stationary and axisymmetric. Under suitable assumptions we show that the Einstein equations reduce to an Einstein-harmonic map type system and analyze the compatibility of the resulting equations. This framework will be fundamental to our forthcoming construction of metric-stationary axisymmetric bifurcations of Kerr solving the Einstein--Klein--Gordon system, and as such, we include specializations of all of our formulas to the case of a time-periodic massive scalar field.
