The existence and multiplicity of positive periodic solutions for second order non-autonomous singular dynamical systems are established with superlinearity or sublinearity assumptions at infinity for an appropriately chosen parameter. Our results provide a unified treatment for the problem and significantly improve several results in the literature. The proof of our results is based on the Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem in a cone.
Using continuation methods and bifurcation theory, we study the exact multiplicity of periodic solutions, and the global solution structure, for three classes of periodically forced equations with singularities, including the equations arising in micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), the ones in condensed matter physics, as well as A.C. Lazer and S. Solimini's \cite{LS} problem.
Periodic solutions for a class of singulary perturbated systems
Schneider,Vibrational control of奇异摄动系统,in“Lectures Notes in Control and Information Science”,259,397-408,Springer,London,2001,Theorem 2],在此基础上证明了周期解的存在性。
In this paper, we consider periodic predator-prey systems of Leslie-Gower or Holling-Tanner type, assuming that the coefficients are continuous positive $ω$-periodic functions. We prove an existence of positive $ω$-periodic solutions by means of operator method in Banach spaces with cones. No constructive conditions are required for the coefficients, besides the positivity and periodicity. At the end we point out that the used approach can be applied with minor changes for proving the existence of positive $ω$-periodic solutions even in the case of certain delays.
We establish several delay-independent criteria for the existence and stability of positive periodic solutions of n-dimensional nonautonomous functional differential equation by several fixed point theorems. Examples from positive and negative growth feedback systems demonstrate the results.
We present sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions for a class of fractional singular boundary value problems in presence of Caputo fractional derivative. Further, the nonlinearity involved has singularity with respect to independent variable as well as with respect to dependent variable.
We prove the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions of bouncing type for a second-order differential equation with a weak repulsive singularity. Such solutions can be catalogued according to the minimal period and the number of elastic collisions with the singularity in each period. The proof relies on the Poincaré-Birkhoff Theorem.
In the present work, we discuss the existence of a unique positive solution of a boundary value problem for nonlinear fractional order equation with singularity. Precisely, order of equation $D_{0+}^αu(t)=f(t,u(t))$ belongs to $(3,4]$ and $f$ has a singularity at $t=0$ and as a boundary conditions we use $u(0)=u(1)=u'(0)=u'(1)=0$. Using fixed point theorem, we prove the existence of unique positive solution of the considered problem.
We investigate the existence, non-existence, multiplicity of positive periodic solutions, both harmonic (i.e., $T$-periodic) and subharmonic (i.e., $kT$-periodic for some integer $k \geq 2$) to the equation \begin{equation*} \Biggl{(} \dfrac{u'}{\sqrt{1-(u')^{2}}} \Biggr{)}' + λa(t) g(u) = 0, \end{equation*} where $λ> 0$ is a parameter, $a(t)$ is a $T$-periodic sign-changing weight function and $g \colon \mathopen{[}0,+\infty\mathclose{[} \to \mathopen{[}0,+\infty\mathclose{[}$ is a continuous function having superlinear growth at zero. In particular, we prove that for both $g(u)=u^{p}$, with …
In this paper, a generalized model of hematopoiesis with delays and impulses is considered. By employing the contraction mapping principle and a novel type of impulsive delay inequality, we prove the existence of a unique positive almost periodic solution of the model. It is also proved that, under the proposed conditions in this paper, the unique positive almost periodic solution is globally exponentially attractive. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.
We study the periodic boundary value problem associated with the second order nonlinear differential equation $$ u" + c u' + \left(a^{+}(t) - μ\, a^{-}(t)\right) g(u) = 0, $$ where $g(u)$ has superlinear growth at zero and at infinity, $a(t)$ is a periodic sign-changing weight, $c\in\mathbb{R}$ and $μ>0$ is a real parameter. We prove the existence of $2^{m}-1$ positive solutions when $a(t)$ has $m$ positive humps separated by $m$ negative ones (in a periodicity interval) and $μ$ is sufficiently large. The proof is based on the extension of Mawhin's coincidence degree defined in open (possibly …
We prove the existence of positive periodic solutions for the second order nonlinear equation $u" + a(x) g(u) = 0$, where $g(u)$ has superlinear growth at zero and at infinity. The weight function $a(x)$ is allowed to change its sign. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of nontrivial solutions are obtained. The proof is based on Mawhin's coincidence degree and applies also to Neumann boundary conditions. Applications are given to the search of positive solutions for a nonlinear PDE in annular domains and for a periodic problem associated to a non-Hamiltonian equation.
We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic solutions of the of the Lorentz force equation, which models the motion of a charged particle under the action of an electromagnetic fields. The basic assumptions cover relevant models with singularities like Coulomb-like electric potentials or the magnetic dipole.
We consider the Lorentz force equation $$ \frac{d}{dt}\left(\frac{m\dot{x}}{\sqrt{1-|\dot{x}|^{2}/c^{2}}}\right) = q \left(E(t,x) + \dot x \times B(t,x)\right), \qquad x \in \mathbb{R}^3, $$ in the physically relevant case of a singular electric field $E$. Assuming that $E$ and $B$ are $T$-periodic in time and satisfy suitable further conditions, we prove the existence of infinitely many $T$-periodic solutions. The proof is based on a min-max principle of Lusternik-Schrelmann type, in the framework of non-smooth critical point theory. Applications are given to the problem of the motion of a ch…
In this paper, we introduce a nonresident computer virus model and prove the existence of at least one positive periodic solution. The proposed model is based on a biological approach and is obtained by considering that all rates (rates that the computers are disconnected from the Internet, the rate that the computers are cured, etc) are time dependent real functions. Assuming that the initial condition is a positive vector and the coefficients are positive $ω-$periodic and applying the topological degree arguments we deduce that generalized nonresident computer virus model has at least one po…
A class of periodic differential $n$-dimensional systems with patch structure with (possibly infinite) delay and nonlinear impulses is considered. These systems incorporate very general nonlinearities and impulses whose signs may vary. Criteria for the existence of at least one positive periodic solution are presented, extending and improving previous ones established for the scalar case. Applications to systems inspired in mathematical biology models, such as impulsive hematopoiesis and Nicholson-type systems, are also included.
In this paper, we establish the results on the existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of positive solutions to singular boundary value problems involving $φ$-Laplacian. Our approach is based on the fixed point index theory. The interesting point is that a result for the existence of three positive solutions is given.
