In this paper we characterize hemirings in which all $h$-ideals or all fuzzy $h$-ideals are idempotent. It is proved, among other results, that every $h$-ideal of a hemiring $R$ is idempotent if and only if the lattice of fuzzy $h$-ideals of $R$ is distributive under the sum and $h$-intrinsic product of fuzzy $h$-ideals or, equivalently, if and only if each fuzzy $h$-ideal of $R$ is intersection of those prime fuzzy $h$-ideals of $R$ which contain it. We also define two types of prime fuzzy $h$-ideals of $R$ and prove that, a non-constant $h$-ideal of $R$ is prime in the second sense if and only if each of its proper level set is a prime $h$-ideal of $R$.
All subalgebras, idempotents, left(right) ideals and left quasi-units of two-dimensional algebras are described. Classification of algebras with given number of subalgebras, left(right) ideals are provided. In particular, a list of isomorphism classes of all simple two-dimensional algebras is given. In the study of ideals and subalgebras the number of them depend on roots of certain system of polynomials at structure constants of the algebra. We also give explicit forms of the polynomials.
It is well-known that each left ideals in a matrix rings over a finite field is generated by an idempotent matrix. In this work we compute the number of left ideals in these rings, the number of different idempotents generating each left ideal, and give explicitly a set of idempotent generators of all left ideals of a given rank.
Let $Λ$ be an artin algebra and $\mathfrak{A}$ a two-sided idempotent ideal of $Λ$, that is, $\mathfrak{A}$ is the trace of a projective $Λ$-module $P$ in $Λ$. We consider the categories of finitely generated modules over the associated rings $Λ/\mathfrak{A}, Λ$ and $Γ=\mathrm{End}_Λ(P)^{op}$ and study the relationship between their homological properties via the Igusa-Todorov functions.
In this article, we introduce the concept of weakly $I$-clean ring, for any ideal $I$ of a ring $R$. We show that, for an ideal $I$ of a ring $R$, $R$ is uniquely weakly $I$-clean if and only if $R/I$ is semi boolean and idempotents can be lifted uniquely weakly modulo $I$ if and only if for each $a\in R$, there exists a central idempotent $e\in R$ such that either $a-e\in I$ or $a+e\in I$ and $I$ is idempotent free. As a corollary, we characterize weakly $J$-clean ring. Also we study various properties of weakly $I$-clean ring.
If $S$ is a discrete semigroup, then $βS$ has a natural, left-topological semigroup structure extending $S$. Under some very mild conditions, $U(S)$, the set of uniform ultrafilters on $S$, is a two-sided ideal of $βS$, and therefore contains all of its minimal left ideals and minimal idempotents. We find some very general conditions under which $U(S)$ contains prime minimal left ideals and left-maximal idempotents. If $S$ is countable, then $U(S) = S^*$, and a special case of our main theorem is that if a countable discrete semigroup $S$ is a weakly cancellative and left-cancellative, then $S…

In this paper we examine the commutativity of ideal extensions. We introduce methods of constructing such extensions, in particular we construct a noncommutative ring T which contains a central and idempotent ideal I such that T/I is a field. This answers a question from [2]. Moreover we classify fields of characteristic 0 which can be obtained as T/I for some T.
A pair of elements $a,b$ in an integral domain $R$ is an idempotent pair if either $a(1-a) \in bR$, or $b(1-b) \in aR$. $R$ is said to be a PRINC domain if all the ideals generated by an idempotent pair are principal. We show that in an order $R$ of a Dedekind domain every regular prime ideal can be generated by an idempotent pair; moreover, if $R$ is PRINC, then its integral closure, which is a Dedekind domain, is PRINC, too. Hence, a Dedekind domain is PRINC if and only if it is a PID. Furthermore, we show that the only imaginary quadratic orders $\mathbb Z[\sqrt{-d}]$, $d > 0$ square-free, …
Recall that a rng is a ring which is possibly non-unital. In this note, we address the problem whether every finitely generated idempotent rng (abbreviated as irng) is singly generated as an ideal. It is well-known that it is the case for a commutative irng. We prove here it is also the case for a free rng on finitely many idempotents and for a finite irng. A relation to the Wiegold problem for perfect groups is discussed.
We introduce the concept of a weak nil clean ring, a generalization of nil clean ring, which is nothing but a ring with unity in which every element can be expressed as sum or difference of a nilpotent and an idempotent. Further if the idempotent and nilpotent commute the ring is called weak* nil clean. We characterize all $n\in \mathbb{N}$, for which $\mathbb{Z}_n$ is weak nil clean but not nil clean. We show that if $R$ is a weak* nil clean and $e$ is an idempotent in $R$, then the corner ring $eRe$ is also weak* nil clean. Also we discuss $S$-weak nil clean rings and their properties, where…
An element of a ring is unique clean if it can be uniquely written as the sum of an idempotent and a unit. A ring $R$ is uniquely $π$-clean if some power of every element in $R$ is uniquely clean. In this article, we prove that a ring $R$ is uniquely $π$-clean if and only if for any $a\in R$, there exists an $m\in {\Bbb N}$ and a central idempotent $e\in R$ such that $a^m-e\in J(R)$, if and only if $R$ is abelian; every idempotent lifts modulo $J(R)$; and $R/P$ is torsion for all prime ideals $P$ containing the Jacobson radical $J(R)$. Further, we prove that a ring $R$ is uniquely $π$-clean an…
This paper investigates the application of the theoretical algebraic notion of a separable ring extension, in the realm of cyclic convolutional codes or, more generally, ideal codes. We work under very mild conditions, that cover all previously known as well as new non trivial examples. It is proved that ideal codes are direct summands as left ideals of the underlying non-commutative algebra, in analogy with cyclic block codes. This implies, in particular, that they are generated by an idempotent element. Hence, by using a suitable separability element, we design an efficient algorithm for com…
Let R be a prime ring of H a generalized derivation and L a noncentral lie ideal of R. We show that if l^sH(l)l^t in Z(R) for all lin2 L, where s, t> 0 are fixed integers, then H(x) = bx for some b in C, the extended centroid of R, or R satisfies S4. Moreover, let R be a 2-torsion free semiprime ring, let A = O(R) be an orthogonal completion of R and B = B(C) the Boolean ring of C. Suppose ([x1; x2]sH([x1; x2])[x1; x2]t in Z(R) for all x1; x2 in R, where s, t> 0 are fixed integers. Then there exists idempotent e in B such that H(x) = bx on eA and the ring (1-e)A satisfies S4.
In our previous work, motivated by the study of tropical polynomials, a definition for prime congruences was given for an arbitrary commutative semiring. It was shown that for additively idempotent semirings this class exhibits some analogous properties to prime ideals in ring theory. The current paper focuses on the resulting notion of Krull dimension, which is defined as the length of the longest chain of prime congruences. Our main result states that for any additively idempotent semiring $A$, the semiring of polynomials $A[x]$ and the semiring of Laurent polynomials $A(x)$, we have $\dim A…
Motivated by the study of von Neumann regular skew groups as carried out by Alfaro, Ara and del Rio in 1995 we investigate regular and biregular Hopf module algebras. If $A$ is an algebra with an action by an affine Hopf algebra $H$, then any $H$-stable left ideal of $A$ is a direct summand if and only if $A^H$ is regular and the invariance functor $(-)^H$ induces an equivalence of $A^H$-Mod to the Wisbauer category of $A$ as $A# H$-module. Analogously we show a similar statement for the biregularity of $A$ relative to $H$ where $A^H$ is replaced by $R=Z(A)\cap A^H$ using the module theory of …
We study in detail the %Shrek algebra $\mS_n$ in the title which is an algebra obtained from a polynomial algebra $P_n$ in $n$ variables by adding commuting, {\em left} (but not two-sided) inverses of the canonical generators of $P_n$. The algebra $\mS_n$ is non-commutative and neither left nor right Noetherian but the set of its ideals satisfies the a.c.c., and the ideals {\em commute}. It is proved that the classical Krull dimension of $\mS_n$ is $2n$; but the weak and the global dimensions of $\mS_n$ are $n$. The prime and maximal spectra of $\mS_n$ are found, and the simple $\mS_n$-modules…
