Recent theoretical investigations have unveiled a rich structure in the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) phase diagram which consists of quark gluon plasma (QGP) and the hadronic phases but also supports the existence of a cross-over transition ending at a critical end point (CEP). We find a too large variation in determination of the coordinates of the CEP in the temperature (T), baryon chemical potential ($μ_{B}$) plane and, therefore, its identification in the current heavy-ion experiments becomes debatable. Here we use an equation of state (EOS) for a deconfined QGP using a thermodynamically consistent quasiparticle model involving quarks and gluons having thermal masses. We further use a thermodynamically consistent excluded volume model for the hadron gas (HG) which was recently proposed by us. Using these equations of state, a first order deconfining phase transition is constructed using Gibbs' criteria. This leads to an interesting finding that the phase transition line ends at a critical point (CEP) beyond which a cross-over region exists. Using our thermal HG model, we obtain a chemical freeze out curve and we find that the CEP lies in close proximity to this curve as proposed by some authors. The coordinates of CEP are found to lie within the reach of RHIC experiment.
We study the bulk and shear viscosity and the electrical conductivity in a quasiparticle approach to Yang-Mills theory and QCD with light and strange quarks to assess the dynamical role of quarks in transport properties at finite temperature. The interactions with a hot medium are embodied in effective masses of the constituents through a temperature-dependent running coupling extracted from the lattice QCD thermodynamics. In Yang-Mills theory, the bulk viscosity to entropy density ratio exhibits a non-monotonous structure around the phase transition temperature. In QCD, this is totally dissol…
In this work, we revisit the thermodynamical self-consistency of the quasiparticle model with the finite baryon chemical potential adjusted to lattice QCD calculations. Here, we investigate the possibility that the effective quasiparticle mass is also a function of its momentum, $k$, in addition to temperature $T$ and chemical potential $μ$. It is found that the thermodynamic consistency can be expressed in terms of an integro-differential equation concerning $k$, $T$, and $μ$. We further discuss two special solutions, both can be viewed as sufficient condition for the thermodynamical consiste…
We study the temperature-dependence of the shear viscosity to entropy density ratio in pure Yang-Mills theory and in QCD with light and strange quarks within kinetic theory in the relaxation time approximation. As effective degrees of freedom in a deconfined phase we consider quasiparticle excitations with quark and gluon quantum numbers and dispersion relations that depend explicitly on the temperature. The quasiparticle relaxation times are obtained by computing the microscopic two-body scattering amplitudes for the elementary scatterings among the quasiparticles. For pure Yang-Mills theory …
The dynamics of QCD matter is often described using effective mean field (MF) models based on Boltzmann-Gibbs (BG) extensive statistics. However, such matter is normally produced in small packets and in violent collisions where the usual conditions justifying the use of BG statistics are not fulfilled and the systems produced are not extensive. This can be accounted for either by enriching the original dynamics or by replacing the BG statistics by its nonextensive counterpart described by a nonextensivity parameter $q\neq 1$ (for $q \to 1$ one returns to the extensive situation). In this work …
Magnetized strange quark matter in a quasiparticle description
Spectra of pions, which are known as the pseudo-Goldstone bosons of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, as well as their relationship with chiral phase transition and pion superfluidity phase transition, have been investigated in the framework of soft-wall AdS/QCD. In chiral limit, it is proved both numerically and analytically that pions are massless Goldstone bosons even at finite temperature, which was usually considered as an assumption in soft-wall models. Above $T_c$, at which chiral condensate $\langle \bar{q}q\rangle$ vanishes, the spectra of pions and scalar mesons merge together, s…
The bottom quark transport coefficients, i.e., drag and diffusion coefficients, have been studied for the collisional and soft gluon radiative processes within the viscous QCD medium. The thermal medium effects are incorporated using the effective fugacity quasiparticle model (EQPM). Both the shear and bulk viscous effects at leading order are embedded through the near-equilibrium distribution functions of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) constituent quasiparticles. The transport coefficients' dependence on the bottom quark's initial momentum and QGP temperature has been investigated. The relative…
Our first aim is to explore the effect of the collision integral with the insurance of instantaneous conservation of particle number on charge and heat transport in a thermal QCD medium. The second aim is to see how the dimensional reduction due to strong magnetic field (B) modulates the transport through the entangled effects, {\em such as} collision-time and occupation probability etc. in collision integral. The final aim is to check how the quasiparticle description through dispersion relation of thermal QCD in strong B, alters the aforesaid conclusions. We observe that modified collision t…
We study the chiral separation effect (CSE) in two-color and two-flavor QCD (QC$_2$D) to delineate quasiparticle pictures in dense matter from low to high temperatures. Both massless and massive quarks are discussed. We particularly focus on the high density domain where diquarks form a color singlet condensate with the electric charge $1/3$. The condensate breaks baryon number and $U(1)_A$ axial symmetry, and induces the electromagnetic Meissner effects. Within a quark quasiparticle picture, we compute the chiral separation conductivity at one-loop. We have checked that Nambu-Goldstone modes,…
Thermodynamics of strongly interacting matter near critical end point are investigated in a holographic QCD model, which could describe the QCD phase diagram in $T-μ$ plane qualitatively. Critical exponents along different axis ($α,β,γ,δ$) are extracted numerically. It is given that $α\approx 0, β\approx 0.54, γ\approx 1.04, δ\approx 3.0$, the same as 3D Ising mean-field approximation and previous holographic QCD model calculations. We also discuss the possibilities to go beyond mean field approximation by including the full back-reaction of chiral dynamics in the holographic framework.
The self-consistent quasiparticle model has been successful in studying QCD thermodynamics. In this model, the medium effects are taken into account by considering quarks and gluons as quasiparticles with temperature-dependent masses which are proportional to the plasma frequency. The present work involves the extension of this model in the presence of magnetic fields. We have included the effect of the magnetic field by considering relativistic Landau Levels. The quasiparticle masses are then found to be dependent on both temperature and magnetic field. The thermomagnetic mass thus defined al…
