The serial harness introduced by Hammersley is equivalent, in the Gaussian case, to the Gaussian Solid-On-Solid interface model with parallel heat bath dynamics. Here we consider sub-lattice parallel dynamics, and give exact results about relaxation dynamics, based on the equivalence to the infinite time limit of a time periodic random field. We also give a numerical comparison to the harness process in continuous time studied by Hsiao and by Ferrari, Niederhauser and Pechersky.
In this article we give a general criterion for some dependent Gaussian models to belong to maximal domain of attraction of Gumbel, following an application of the Stein-Chen method studied in Arratia et al(1989). We also show the convergence of the associated point process. As an application, we show the conditions are satisfied by some of the well-known supercritical Gaussian interface models, namely, membrane model, massive and massless discrete Gaussian free field, fractional Gaussian free field.
We characterize the behavior of a random discrete interface $ϕ$ on $[-L,L]^d \cap \mathbb{Z}^d$ with energy $\sum V(Δϕ(x))$ as $L \to \infty$, where $Δ$ is the discrete Laplacian and $V$ is a uniformly convex, symmetric, and smooth potential. The interface $ϕ$ is called the non-Gaussian membrane model. By analyzing the Helffer-Sjöstrand representation associated to $Δϕ$, we provide a unified approach to continuous scaling limits of the rescaled and interpolated interface in dimensions $d=2,3$, Gaussian approximation in negative regularity spaces for all $d \geq 2$, and the infinite volume limi…
We consider an iterated Kolmogorov diffusion $X_{t}$ of step $n$. The small ball problem for $X_{t}$ is solved by means of the Gaussian correlation inequality. We also prove Chung's laws of iterated logarithm for $X_{t}$ both at time zero and infinity.
We present in detail Thomas Royen's proof of the Gaussian correlation inequality which states that $μ(K\cap L)\geq μ(K)μ(L)$ for any centered Gaussian measure $μ$ on $R^d$ and symmetric convex sets $K,L$ in $R^d$.
In this note, we study the Gaussian fluctuations for the Wishart matrices $d^{-1}\mathcal{X}_{n, d}\mathcal{X}^{T}_{n, d}$, where $\mathcal{X}_{n, d}$ is a $n\times d$ random matrix whose entries are jointly Gaussian and correlated with row and column covariance functions given by $r$ and $s$ respectively such that $r(0)=s(0)=1$. Under the assumptions $s\in \ell^{4/3}(\mathbb{Z})$ and $\|r\|_{\ell^1(\mathbb{Z})}< \sqrt{6}/2$, we establish the $\sqrt{n^3/d}$ convergence rate for the Wasserstein distance between a normalization of $d^{-1}\mathcal{X}_{n, d}\mathcal{X}^{T}_{n, d}$ and the correspo…
A positive correlation inequality is established for circular-invariant plurisubharmonic functions, with respect to complex Gaussian measures. The main ingredients of the proofs are the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup, and another natural semigroup associated to the Gaussian $\partial$-Laplacian.
Gaussian bounds on noise correlation of functions play an important role in hardness of approximation, in quantitative social choice theory and in testing. The author (2008) obtained sharp gaussian bounds for the expected correlation of $\ell$ low influence functions $f^{(1)},\ldots, f^{(\ell)} : Ω^n \to [0,1]$, where the inputs to the functions are correlated via the $n$-fold tensor of distribution $\mathcal{P}$ on $Ω^{\ell}$. It is natural to ask if the condition of low influences can be relaxed to the condition that the function has vanishing Fourier coefficients. Here we answer this questi…
We establish the Gaussian Multi-Bubble Conjecture: the least Gaussian-weighted perimeter way to decompose $\mathbb{R}^n$ into $q$ cells of prescribed (positive) Gaussian measure when $2 \leq q \leq n+1$, is to use a "simplicial cluster", obtained from the Voronoi cells of $q$ equidistant points. Moreover, we prove that simplicial clusters are the unique isoperimetric minimizers (up to null-sets). In particular, the case $q=3$ confirms the Gaussian Double-Bubble Conjecture: the unique least Gaussian-weighted perimeter way to decompose $\mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \geq 2$) into three cells of prescribed (…
Motivated by the Rudnick-Sarnak theorem we study limiting distribution of smoothed local correlations of the form $$ \sum_{j_1, j_2, \ldots, j_n} f(N\*(θ_{j_2}-θ_{j_1}), N\*(θ_{j_3}-θ_{j_1}), \ldots, N\*(θ_{j_n}-θ_{j_1}))$$ for the Circular United Ensemble of random matrices for sufficiently smooth test functions.
The purpose of this paper is to provide an exact formula for the second moment of the empirical correlation of two independent Gaussian random walks as well as implicit formulas for higher moments. The proofs are based on a symbolically tractable integro-differential representation formula for the moments of any order in a class of empirical correlations, first established by Ernst et al. (2019) and investigated previously in Ernst et al. (2017). We also provide rates of convergence of the empirical correlation of two independent Gaussian random walks to the empirical correlation of two indepe…
We study the Gaussian noise stability of subsets A of Euclidean space satisfying A=-A. It is shown that an interval centered at the origin, or its complement, maximizes noise stability for small correlation, among symmetric subsets of the real line of fixed Gaussian measure. On the other hand, in dimension two and higher, the ball or its complement does not always maximize noise stability among symmetric sets of fixed Gaussian measure. In summary, we provide the first known positive and negative results for the Symmetric Gaussian Problem.
