The sensor network is a network technique for the implementation of Ubiquitous computing environment. It is wireless network environment that consists of the many sensors of lightweight and low power. Though sensor network provides various capabilities, it is unable to ensure the secure authentication between nodes. Eventually it causes the losing reliability of the entire network and many secure problems. Therefore, encryption algorithm for the implementation of reliable sensor network environments is required to the applicable sensor network. In this paper, we proposed the solution of reliable sensor network to analyze the communication efficiency through measuring performance of AES encryption algorithm by plaintext size, and cost of operation per hop according to the network scale.
We demonstrate the extraction of an AES secret key from flash memory on the ATMega328 microcontroller (the microcontroller used on the popular Arduino Genuino/Uno board). We loaded a standard AVR-architecture AES-128 implementation onto the chip and encrypted randomly chosen plaintexts with several different keys. We measured the chip's power consumption during encryption, correlated observed power consumption with the expected power consumption of the plaintexts with every possible key, and ultimately extracted the 128-bit key used during AES. We describe here our test infrastructure for auto…
Injection of transient faults as a way to attack cryptographic implementations has been largely studied in the last decade. Several attacks that use electromagnetic fault injection against hardware or software architectures have already been presented. On microcontrollers, electromagnetic fault injection has mostly been seen as a way to skip assembly instructions or subroutine calls. However, to the best of our knowledge, no precise study about the impact of an electromagnetic glitch fault injection on a microcontroller has been proposed yet. The aim of this paper is twofold: providing a more …
This work presents the first full implementation of Wave, a postquantum code-based signature scheme. We define Wavelet, a concrete Wave scheme at the 128-bit classical security level (or NIST postquantum security Level 1) equipped with a fast verification algorithm targeting embedded devices. Wavelet offers 930-byte signatures, with a public key of 3161 kB. We include implementation details using AVX instructions, and on ARM Cortex-M4, including a solution to deal with Wavelet's large public keys, which do not fit in the SRAM of a typical embedded device. Our verification algorithm is $\approx…
In this paper we propose a new data hiding technique. The new technique uses steganography and cryptography on images with a size of 256x256 pixels and an 8-bit grayscale format. There are design restrictions such as a fixed-size cover image, and reconstruction without error of the hidden image. The steganography technique uses a Haar-DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) with hard thresholding and LSB (Less Significant Bit) technique on the cover image. The algorithms used for compressing and ciphering the secret image are lossless JPG and AES, respectively. The proposed technique is used to gener…
The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm is a symmetric block cipher which operates on a sequence of blocks each consists of 128, 192 or 256 bits. Moreover, the cipher key for the AES algorithm is a sequence of 128, 192 or 256 bits. AES algorithm has many sources of parallelism. In this paper, a design of parallel AES on the multiprocessor platform is presented. While most of the previous designs either use pipelined parallelization or take advantage of the Mix_Column parallelization, our design is based on combining pipelining of rounds and parallelization of Mix_Column and Add_Round_…
Image steganography is the art of hiding data into images. Secret data such as messages, audio, images can be hidden inside the cover image. This is mainly achieved by hiding the data into the LSB(Least Significant Bit) of the image pixels. To improve the security of steganography, this paper studied data encryption with AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) and LSB based data hiding technique with advanced user-defined encrypted data distribution in pixels other than the common linear computational method of storing data in a linear form. This data distribution file will contain the location of t…
Recent years have shown that more than ever governments and intelligence agencies try to control and bypass the cryptographic means used for the protection of data. Backdooring encryption algorithms is considered as the best way to enforce cryptographic control. Until now, only implementation backdoors (at the protocol/implementation/management level) are generally considered. In this paper we propose to address the most critical issue of backdoors: mathematical backdoors or by-design backdoors, which are put directly at the mathematical design of the encryption algorithm. While the algorithm …
Nowadays, the dataflux shared between IOT systems must be secured from 8-bits to 64-bits processors systems. Several symmetric cryptographic algorithm already exist such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), RC4, Blowfish, etc. In this work, we propose an 8-bits encryption algorithm, combining several ideas of standard symmetric encryption algorithms. The aim is to provide a efficient, modular and compact algorithm able to tend to truly random one-time-pad encryption quality even for large data flux. The algorithm combines the implementation of a divergent polynomial with variable coefficient…
We present quantum circuits to implement an exhaustive key search for the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and analyze the quantum resources required to carry out such an attack. We consider the overall circuit size, the number of qubits, and the circuit depth as measures for the cost of the presented quantum algorithms. Throughout, we focus on Clifford$+T$ gates as the underlying fault-tolerant logical quantum gate set. In particular, for all three variants of AES (key size 128, 192, and 256 bit) that are standardized in FIPS-PUB 197, we establish precise bounds for the number of qubits and…
In order to protect the security of network data, a high speed chip module for encrypting and decrypting of network data packet is designed. The chip module is oriented for internet information security SOC (System on Chip) design. During the design process, AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and 3DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption algorithm are adopted to protect the security of network data. The following points are focused: (1) The SOC (System on Chip) design methodology based on IP (Intellectual Property) core is used. AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and 3DES (Data Encryption Sta…
The implementation of cryptographic primitives in integrated circuits (ICs) continues to increase over the years due to the recent advancement of semiconductor manufacturing and reduction of cost per transistors. The hardware implementation makes cryptographic operations faster and more energy-efficient. However, various hardware attacks have been proposed aiming to extract the secret key in order to undermine the security of these primitives. In this paper, we focus on the widely used advanced encryption standard (AES) block cipher and demonstrate its vulnerability against tampering attack. O…
We present a new quasigroup based block encryption system with and without cipher-block-chaining. We compare its performance against Advanced Encryption Standard-256 (AES256) bit algorithm using the NIST statistical test suite (NIST-STS) that tests for randomness of a sequence. Since it is well known that a good encryption algorithm must destroy any statistical properties of the input sequence and produce an output close to a true random sequence, the NIST-STS suite results provide a good test bench. In almost all tests from the suite the proposed algorithm performs better than AES256.
To provide data and code confidentiality and reduce the risk of information leak from memory or memory bus, computing systems are enhanced with encryption and decryption engine. Despite massive efforts in designing hardware enhancements for data and code protection, existing solutions incur significant performance overhead as the encryption/decryption is on the critical path. In this paper, we present Sealer, a high-performance and low-overhead in-SRAM memory encryption engine by exploiting the massive parallelism and bitline computational capability of SRAM subarrays. Sealer encrypts data bef…
In this paper we are proposing an algorithm which uses AES technique of 128/192/256 bit cipher key in encryption and decryption of data. AES provides high security as compared to other encryption techniques along with RSA. Cloud computing provides the customer with the requested services. It refers to applications and services that run on distributed network using virtualized resources and accessed by common IP and network standard. While providing data services it is becoming important to provide security for data. In cloud computing keeping data secure is an important issue to be focused. Ev…
Data protection is a severe constraint in the heterogeneous IoT era. This article presents a Hardware-Software Co-Simulation of AES-128 bit encryption and decryption for IoT Edge devices using the Xilinx System Generator (XSG). VHDL implementation of AES-128 bit algorithm is done with ECB and CTR mode using loop unrolled and FSM-based architecture. It is found that AES-CTR and FSM architecture performance is better than loop unrolled architecture with lesser power consumption and area. For performing the Hardware-Software Co-Simulation on Zedboard and Kintex-Ultra scale KCU105 Evaluation Platf…
Current research in the automotive domain has proven the limitations of the CAN protocol from a security standpoint. Application-layer attacks, which involve the creation of malicious packets, are deemed feasible from remote but can be easily detected by modern IDS. On the other hand, more recent link-layer attacks are stealthier and possibly more disruptive but require physical access to the bus. In this paper, we present CANflict, a software-only approach that allows reliable manipulation of the CAN bus at the data link layer from an unmodified microcontroller, overcoming the limitations of …

The visual devices generally have constrained resources in respects to their low computation power, small memory with limited power supply. Therefore, to facilitate the video security in smart environment, lightweight security schemes are required instead of inefficient existing traditional cryptography algorithms. This research paper provides the solution to overcome such problems. A novel lightweight cipher algorithm is …
The field of lightweight cryptography has been gaining popularity as traditional cryptographic techniques are challenging to implement in resource-limited environments. This research paper presents an approach to utilizing the ESP32 microcontroller as a hardware platform to implement a lightweight cryptographic algorithm. Our approach employs KATAN32, the smallest block cipher of the KATAN family, with an 80-bit key and 32-bit blocks. The algorithm requires less computational power as it employs an 80 unsigned 64-bit integer key for encrypting and decrypting data. During encryption, a data arr…
This work proposes a different procedure to encrypt images of 256 grey levels and colour, using the symmetric system Advanced Encryption Standard with a variable permutation in the first round, after the x-or operation. Variable permutation means using a different one for each input block of 128 bits. In this vein, an algorithm is constructed that defines a Bijective function between sets Nm = {n in N, 0 <= n < fac(m)} with n >= 2 and Pm = {pi, pi is a permutation of 0, 1, ..., m-1}. This algorithm calculates permutations on 128 positions with 127 known constants. The transcendental numbers ar…
