Motivated by potential applications in multiplexing and by recent results on Gabor analysis with Hermite windows due to Gröchenig and Lyubarskii, we investigate vector-valued wavelet transforms and vector-valued wavelet frames, which constitute special cases of super-wavelets, with a particular attention to the case when the analyzing wavelet vector is related to Fourier transforms of Laguerre functions. We construct an isometric isomorphism between $L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^{+},\mathbf{C}^{n})$ and poly-Bergman spaces, with a view to relate the sampling sequences in the poly-Bergman spaces to the wavelet frames and super-frames with the windows $Φ_{n}$. One of the applications of the theory is a proof that $b\ln a<2π(n+1)$ is a necessary condition for the (scalar) wavelet frame associated to the $Φ_{n}$ to exist. This seems to be the first known result of this type outside the setting of analytic functions (the case $n=0$, which has been completely studied by Seip in 1993).
We study Toeplitz-type operators with respect to specific wavelets whose Fourier transforms are related to Laguerre polynomials. On the one hand, this choice of wavelets underlines the fact that these operators acting on wavelet subspaces share many properties with the classical Toeplitz operators acting on the Bergman spaces. On the other hand, it enables to study poly-Bergman spaces and Toeplitz operators acting on them from a different perspective. Restricting to symbols depending only on vertical variable in the upper half-plane of the complex plane these operators are unitarily equivalent…
We provide a large family of atoms for Bergman spaces on irreducible bounded symmetric domains. This vastly generalizes results by Coifman and Rochberg from 1980. The atomic decompositions are derived using the holomorphic discrete series representations for the domain, and the approach is inspired by recent advances in wavelet and coorbit theory. This approach also settles the relation between atomic decompositions for the bounded and unbounded realizations of the domain.
A natural class of weighted Bergman spaces on the symmetrized polydisc is isometrically embedded as a subspace in the corresponding weighted Bergman space on the polydisc. We find an orthonormal basis for this subspace. It enables us to compute the kernel function for the weighted Bergman spaces on the symmetrized polydisc using the explicit nature of our embedding. This family of kernel functions include the Szegö and the Bergman kernel on the symmetrized polydisc.
We consider Toeplitz operators in Bergman and Fock type spaces of polyanalytic $L^2\textup{-}$functions on the disk or on the half-plane with respect to the Lebesgue measure (resp., on $\mathbb{C}$ with the plane Gaussian measure). The structure involving creation and annihilation operators, similar to the classical one present for the Landau Hamiltonian, enables us to reduce Toeplitz operators in true polyanalytic spaces to the ones in the usual Bergman type spaces, however with distributional symbols. This reduction leads to describing a number of properties of the operators in the title, wh…
We study algebraic properties of Toeplitz operators on Bergman spaces of polyanalytic functions on the unit disk. We obtain results on finite-rank commutators and semi-commutators of Toeplitz operators with harmonic symbols. We also raise and discuss some open questions.
We show that for $f$ a continuous function on the closed polydisc $\bar{\mathbb{D}^n}$ with $n\geq 2$, the Hankel operator $H_{f}$ is compact on the Bergman space of $\mathbb{D}^n$ if and only if there is a decomposition $f=h+g$, where $h$ is in the ball algebra and $g$ vanishes on the boundary of the polydisc.
Using the approach based on sesquilinear forms, we introduce Toeplitz operator in the analytic Bergman space on the upper half-plane with strongly singular symbols, derivatives of measures. Conditions for boundedness and compactness of such operators are found. A procedure of reduction of Toeplitz operators in Bergman spaces of polyanalytic functions to operators with singular symbols in the analytic Bergman space by means of the creation-annihilation structure is elaborated, which leads to the description of the properties of the former operators
We study the boundedness of Toeplitz operators with locally integrable symbols on Bergman spaces $A^p(Ω),$ $1<p<\infty,$ where $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}$ is a bounded simply connected domain with polygonal boundary. We give sufficient conditions for the boundedness of generalized Toeplitz operators in terms of "averages" of symbol over certain Cartesian squares. We use the Whitney decomposition of $Ω$ in the proof. We also give examples of bounded Toeplitz operators on $A^p(Ω)$ in the case where polygon $Ω$ has such a large corner that the Bergman projection is unbounded.
Doubly commutativity of invariant subspaces of the Bergman space and the Dirichlet space over the unit polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$ (with $ n \geq 2$) is investigated. We show that for any non-empty subset $α=\{α_1,\dots,α_k\}$ of $\{1,\dots,n\}$ and doubly commuting invariant subspace $\s$ of the Bergman space or the Dirichlet space over $\D^n$, the tuple consists of restrictions of co-ordinate multiplication operators $M_α|_\s:=(M_{z_{α_1}}|_\s,\dots, M_{z_{α_k}}|_\s)$ always possesses wandering subspace of the form \[\bigcap_{i=1}^k(\s\ominus z_{α_i}\s). \]
In this paper we present an abstract framework for construction of Banach spaces of distributions from group representations. This generalizes the theory of coorbit spaces initiated by H.G. Feichtinger and K. Gröchenig in the 1980's. Spaces that can be described by this new technique include the whole Banach-scale of Bergman spaces on the unit disc. For these Bergman spaces we show that atomic decompositions can be constructed through sampling. We further present a wavelet characterization of Besov spaces on the forward light cone.
Given $n\geq1$ and $r\in[0, 1),$ we consider the set $\mathcal{R}_{n, r}$ of rational functions having at most $n$ poles all outside of $\frac{1}{r}\mathbb{D},$ were $\mathbb{D}$ is the unit disc of the complex plane. We give an asymptotically sharp Bernstein-type inequality for functions in $\mathcal{R}_{n, r}\:$ (as n tends to infinity and r tends to 1-) in weighted Bergman spaces with "polynomially" decreasing weights. We also prove that this result can not be extended to weighted Bergman spaces with "super-polynomially" decreasing weights.
The exact range of the positive real parameter $p$ is determined so that the multiplications by polynomial functions acting on Bergman spaces over complex ellipsoids are Schatten $p$-summable.
This is (raw) lecture notes of the course read on 6th European intensive course on Complex Analysis (Coimbra, Portugal) in 2000. Our purpose is to describe a general framework for generalizations of the complex analysis. As a consequence a classification scheme for different generalizations is obtained. The framework is based on wavelets (coherent states) in Banach spaces generated by ``admissible'' group representations. Reduced wavelet transform allows naturally describe in abstract term main objects of an analytical function theory: the Cauchy integral formula, the Hardy and Bergman spaces,…
We investigate which boundary points in the closed unit ball of the Bergman space of integrable holomorphic functions on the unit disc are strongly exposed. This requires study of the Bergman projection and its kernel, the annihilator of Bergman space. We show that all polynomials in the boundary of the unit ball are strongly exposed.
The results in the paper are related to the classification problem for invariant subspaces of multiplication operators in several variables. The main results consist of characterizations, in the two dimensional case, of ideals of polynomials and analytic functions which are closed in the relative topology induced by Bergman spaces on certain domains. This provides proofs of the Bergman space analogues of a conjecture of R. G. Douglas and V. Paulsen.
We study the boundedness of composition operators on the weighted Bergman spaces and the Hardy space over the polydisc. For arbitrary polydisc we prove the rank sufficiency theorem which, in particular, provides us with a simple criterion describing boundedness of composition operators on the spaces over the bidisc. Such a consistent characterization is obtained for the classical Bergman space over the tridisc.
This paper is concerned with polynomially generated multiplier invariant subspaces of the weighted Bergman space $A_{\boldsymbolβ}^2$ in infinitely many variables. We completely classify these invariant subspaces under the unitary equivalence. Our results not only cover cases of both the Hardy space $H^{2}(\mathbb{D}_{2}^{\infty})$ and the Bergman space $A^{2}(\mathbb{D}_{2}^{\infty})$ in infinitely many variables, but also apply in finite-variable setting.
We obtain a noncommutative multivariable analogue of Louhichi and Olofsson characterization of Toeplitz operators with harmonic symbols on the weighted Bergman space $A_m({\bf D})$, as well as Eschmeier and Langendorfer extension to the unit ball of ${\bf C}^n$. All our results are proved in the more general setting of noncommutative poly-hyperballs ${\bf D_n^m}(H)$, ${\bf n,m}\in {\bf N}^k$, and are used to characterize the bounded free $k$-pluriharmonic functions with operator coefficients on poly-hyperballs and to solve the associated Dirichlet extension problem. In particular, the results …
Continuing our recent work we study polynomial masks of multivariate tight wavelet frames from two additional and complementary points of view: convexity and system theory. We consider such polynomial masks that are derived by means of the unitary extension principle from a single polynomial. We show that the set of such polynomials is convex and reveal its extremal points as polynomials that satisfy the quadrature mirror filter condition. Multiplicative structure of such polynomial sets allows us to improve the known upper bounds on the number of frame generators derived from box splines. In …
While dealing with a class of generalized Bergman spaces on the unit ball, we construct for each of these spaces a set of coherent states to apply a coherent states quantization method. This provides us with another way to recover the Berezin transforms attached to these spaces. Finally, a new formula representing these transforms a functions of the Laplace-Beltrami operator is established in terms ofWilson polynomials by using the Fourier-Helgason transform.
Let $μ_α$ be the Lebesgue plane measure on the unit disk with the radial weight $\frac{α+1}π(1-|z|^2)^α$. Denote by $\mathcal{A}^{2}_{n}$ the space of the $n$-analytic functions on the unit disk, square-integrable with respect to $μ_α$. Extending the results of Ramazanov (1999, 2002), we explain that disk polynomials (studied by Koornwinder in 1975 and Wünsche in 2005) form an orthonormal basis of $\mathcal{A}^{2}_{n}$. Using this basis, we provide the Fourier decomposition of $\mathcal{A}^{2}_{n}$ into the orthogonal sum of the subspaces associated with different frequencies. This leads to th…
We first show that the canonical solution operator to d-bar restricted to (0,1)-forms with holomorphic coefficients can be expressed by an integral operator using the Bergman kernel. This result is used to prove that in the case of the unit disc in C the canonical solution operator to d-bar restricted to (0,1)-forms with holomorphic coefficients is a Hilbert-Schmidt operator. In the sequel we give a direct proof of the last statement using orthonormal bases and show that in the case of polydisc and the unit ball in C^n, n>1, the corresponding operator fails to be a Hilbert-Schmidt operator.
We consider sharp inequalities for Bergman spaces of the unit disc, establishing analogues of the inequality in Carleman's proof of the isoperimetric inequality and of Weissler's inequality for dilations. By contractivity and a standard tensorization procedure, the unit disc inequalities yield corresponding inequalities for the Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series. We use these results to study weighted multiplicative Hankel forms associated with the Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series, reproducing most of the known results on multiplicative Hankel forms associated with the Hardy spaces of Dirich…
We construct the Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) on the homogeneous space (Cartan domain) D_4=SO(4,2)/(SO(4)\times SO(2)) of the conformal group SO(4,2) (locally isomorphic to SU(2,2)) in 1+3 dimensions. The manifold D_4 can be mapped one-to-one onto the future tube domain C^4_+ of the complex Minkowski space through a Cayley transformation, where other kind of (electromagnetic) wavelets have already been proposed in the literature. We study the unitary irreducible representations of the conformal group on the Hilbert spaces L^2_h(D_4,dν_λ) and L^2_h(C^4_+,d\tildeν_λ) of square integrable h…
In this paper, an algorithm based on polyphase matrix for constructing a pair of orthogonal wavelet frames is suggested, and a general form for all orthogonal tight wavelet frames on local fields of positive characteristic is described. Moreover, we investigate their properties by means of the Fourier transform.
In the present paper, a wavelet family over the $n$-dimensional sphere is constructed such that for each scale the wavelet is a polynomial and the inverse wavelet transform of a continuous function converges in the supremum norm.
Recent results from real algebraic geometry and the theory of polynomial optimization are related in a new framework to the existence question of multivariate tight wavelet frames whose generators have at least one vanishing moment. Namely, several equivalent formulations of the so-called Unitary Extension Principle by Ron and Shen are interpreted in terms of hermitian sums of squares of certain nonnegative trigonometric polynomials and in terms of semi-definite programming. The latter together with the recent results in algebraic geometry and semi-definite programming allow us to answer affir…
In this paper we investigate when a finite sum of products of two Toeplitz operators with quasihomogeneous symbols is a finite rank perturbation of another Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space. We discover a noncommutative convolution $\diamond$ on the space of quasihomogeneous functions and use it in solving the problem. Our main results show that if $F_j, G_j$ ($1\leq j\leq N$) are polynomials of $z$ and $\bar{z}$ then $\sum_{j=1}^{N}T_{F_j}T_{G_j}-T_{H}$ is a finite rank operator for some $L^{1}$-function $H$ if and only if $\sum_{j=1}^{N}F_j\diamond G_j$ belongs to $L^1$ and $H=\sum_{j=1…
We observe that local embedding problems for certain Hardy and Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series are equivalent to boundedness of a class of composition operators. Following this, we perform a careful study of such composition operators generated by polynomial symbols $φ$ on a scale of Bergman--type Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{D}_α$. We investigate the optimal $β$ such that the composition operator $\mathcal{C}_φ$ maps $\mathcal{D}_α$ boundedly into $\mathcal{D}_β$. We also prove a new embedding theorem for the non-Hilbertian Hardy space $\mathcal H^p$ into a Bergman space in the half-plane and …
Given a polyanalytic function, we show that the corresponding Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space of the unit disc can be expressed as a quotient of certain differential operators with holomorphic coefficients. This enables us to obtain several operator theoretic results including a criterion for invertibility of a Toeplitz operator.
This is a review paper based on the series of our papers devoted to a structure of true-poly-analytic Bergman function spaces over the upper half-plane in the complex plane and to a detailed study of properties of Toeplitz operators with separate symbols acting on them via methods of time-scale analysis.
