Recently many studies have considered the possibility of a Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV), and explored its consequences in a wide range of experiments. If this is true, a LIV could explains some mysteries in Cosmology. In this paper specifically, we will analyze the effects on The Primordial Baryogenesis because it is one of the more important and mysterious phenomena of the Big-Bang, that happened at very high energies, so we have a real chance to obtain an important effect. We will see that this effect could exist, depending directly on the temperature, that is very high at this time in the history of the Universe. So, it is possible to use this result as a test for a LIV and explore the possibility that the boson that started the baryogenesis explains, in part, the dark matter. We will obtain estimates about the beginning time of the baryogenesis and the boson mass too, that come directly from the LIV.
In this contribution we will shortly review the main mechanism through which primordial magnetic fields may affect the electroweak baryogenesis. It is shown that although strong magnetic fields might enhance the strength of the electroweak phase transition, no benefit is found for baryogenesis once the effect of the field on the sphaleron rate is taken into account. The possible role of hypermagnetic helicity for the electroweak baryogenesis is shortly discussed.
We examine the generation of baryon asymmetry at the weak scale from a primordial lepton asymmetry. If the electroweak phase transition is first order, partial reflection of tau leptons off the bubble walls and the resulting hypercharge transport into the symmetric phase, gives rise to a baryon number consistent with observation.
In the presence of background fields that spontaneously violate Lorentz invariance, a matter-antimatter asymmetry can be generated even in thermal equilibrium. In this paper we systematically investigate models of this type, showing that either high-energy or electroweak versions of baryogenesis are possible, depending on the dynamics of the Lorentz-violating fields. We identify two scenarios of interest: baryogenesis from a weak-scale pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson with intermediate-scale baryon-number violation, and sphaleron-induced baryogenesis driven by a constant-magnitude vector with a la…
An introduction to particle aspects of cosmology with particular refrence to primordial nucleosynthesis, dark matter and baryogenesis is provided. In particular, various scenarios-GUT baryogenesis, electroweak baryogenesis and baryogenesis through leptogenesis are reviewed.
Primordial nucleosynthesis calculations are shown to be able to provide constraints on electroweak baryogenesis which produce a highly inhomogeneous distribution of the baryon-to-photon ratio. Such baryogenesis scenarios overproduce 4He and/or 7Li and can be ruled out whenever a fraction f<3*10e-6(100 GeV/T)^3 of nucleated bubbles of broken-symmetry phase contributes > 10% of the baryon number within the horizon volume.
This talk is based on work performed with Graham Ross and is a very concise summary of our soon to be published paper. Here we present a revision of the analysis of sphaleron baryon-number violating processes in the standard model including lepton-mass effects. We find the surprising result that a GUT-scale matter-asymmetry can survive the $B$ and $L$ violating sphaleron interactions even though ($B- L$) is conserved and equals zero for all temperatures. We extend the analysis to cover the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). As a new result we present the MSSM analysis below the temp…

In this comment to the Nature paper of Bevan et al I point out that their interpretation of experimental data is based on a double counting of the `chiral anomaly' due to a vortex motion: using the calculation far away from the vortex core (Berry phase) to cancel the equivalent calculation at the core (spectral flow). The relaxation time approximation in force or momentum balance equation involved in their theory is also wrong, which has been rigorous proved in transport theory since 60's. Hence their affirmative conclusion is premature.

Gravitational waves (GWs) in the MHz - GHz frequency range are motivated by a host of early Universe phenomena such as oscillons, preheating, and cosmic strings. We point out that baryogenesis too serves as a motivation to probe GWs in this frequency range. The connection is through primordial black holes (PBHs): on the one hand, PBHs induce baryogenesis by Hawking evaporating into a species that has baryon number and $CP$ violating decays; on the other, PBHs induce GWs through second order effects when the scalar fluctuations responsible for their formation re-enter the horizon. We describe t…
The baryon asymmetry of the Universe should have been produced after the inflation era. We consider the possibility that the asymmetry is generated by the flavor oscillations in the reheating process after inflation, so that the baryon asymmetry is realized already at the beginning of the radiation dominated era. In the seesaw model, we show that the propagators of the left-handed leptons generically have flavor mixings in the thermal background, that can generate flavor-dependent lepton asymmetry through the $CP$ violation in the oscillation phenomena. The flavor dependent rates for the wash-…
In models of baryogenesis based on Grand Unified Theories (GUTs), the baryon asymmetry of the universe is generated through the CP and baryon number violating, out-of-equilibrium decays of very massive gauge or Higgs bosons in the very early universe. Recent constraints on the scale of inflation and the subsequent temperature of reheating, however, have put pressure on many such models. In this paper, we consider the role that primordial black holes may have played in the process of GUT baryogenesis. Through Hawking evaporation, black holes can efficiently generate GUT Higgs or gauge bosons, r…
During inflation primordial quantum fluctuations of the spacetime metric become classical and there is a spontaneous CPT violation by the spin connection coupling terms of the metric with fermions. The energy levels of the left and the right chirality neutrinos is split which gives rise to a net lepton asymmetry at equilibrium. A net baryon asymmetry of the same magnitude can be generated from this lepton asymmetry either by a GUT, $B-L$ symmetry or by electroweak sphaleron processes which preserve $B+L$ symmetry. If the amplitude of the primordial tensor perturbations is of the order of $10^{…
Gravitation violates baryon number $B$: A star has a huge amount of it, while a black hole forming from the star has none. Consider primordial black holes before the hadronic annihiliation in the early universe, encountering and absorbing baryons and antibaryons: Each such absorption changes $B$ of the universe by one unit, up or down. But the absorption events are $uncorrelated$ $and$ $random$, hence they amount to a random walk in $B$-space, leading to the expectation of a net $|B|$ at the end. While the scale of this effect is most uncertain, it must exist. We explore some ramifications, in…

If the present baryon-asymmetry is due to a Planck or GUT-scale matter asymmetry then baryon- or lepton-number violating processes are constrained by the condition that they do not subsequently erase this asymmetry. We present a revision of the analysis of sphaleron baryon-number violating processes in the standard model including lepton-mass effects. We find the surprising result that a GUT-scale matter-asymmetry can survive the $B$ and $L$ violating sphaleron interactions even though ($B- L$) is conserved and equals zero for all temperatures. We extend the analysis to cover the minimal super…
A successful baryogenesis mechanism is proposed in the cosmological framework of Brans-Dicke modified gravity. Primordial black holes with small mass are produced at the end of the Brans-Dicke field domination era. The Hawking radiation reheats a spherical region around every black hole to a high temperature and the electroweak symmetry is restored there. A domain wall is formed separating the region with the symmetric vacuum from the asymmetric region where electroweak baryogenesis takes place. First order phase transition is not needed. In Brans-Dicke cosmologies black hole accretion can be …
Lorentz-violating theories of gravity typically contain constrained vector fields. We show that the lowest-order coupling of such vectors to $\mathrm{U}(1)$-symmetric scalars can naturally give rise to baryogenesis in a manner akin to the Affleck-Dine mechanism. We calculate the cosmology of this new mechanism, demonstrating that a net $B-L$ can be generated in the early Universe, and that the resulting baryon-to-photon ratio matches that which is presently observed. We discuss constraints on the model using solar system and astrophysical tests of Lorentz violation in the gravity sector. Gener…
Hawking evaporation of primordial black holes (PBHs) can facilitate the generation of matter-antimatter asymmetry. We focus on ultra-low mass PBHs that briefly dominate the universe and evaporate before the big bang nucleosynthesis. We propose a novel test of this scenario by detecting its characteristic doubly peaked gravitational wave (GW) spectrum in future GW observatories. Here the first order adiabatic perturbation from inflation and from the isocurvature perturbations due to PBH distribution, source tensor perturbations in second-order and lead to two peaks in the induced GW background.…
The presence of a primordial magnetic field in the early universe affects the dynamic of the electroweak phase transition enhancing its strength. This effect may enlarge the window for electroweak baryogenesis in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model or even resurrect the electroweak baryogenesis scenario in the standard model. We compute the sphaleron energy in the background of the magnetic field and show that, due to the sphaleron dipole moment, the barrier between topologically inequivalent vacua is lowered. Therefore, the preservation of the baryon asymmetry calls for…
We consider the impact of cosmological $B-L$ constraints on supersymmetric standard models with bilinear breaking of R-parity. In order to avoid erasing any primordial baryon or lepton asymmetry above the electroweak scale, $B-L$ violation for at least one generation should be sufficiently small. Working in the context of models with non--universal soft supersymmetry breaking masses, we show how the above cosmological constraint can be satisfied while simultaneously providing a neutrino mass matrix required by current data.
In the context of string field theory, the possibility exists for the spontaneous violation of Lorentz invariance and CPT. In this talk, we review its status and some experimental constraints. We discuss the possibility that stringy CPT violation could give rise to a mechanism in which baryogenesis occurs in the early Universe in thermal equilibrium and show that this can produce, under suitable circumstances, a baryon asymmetry equal to the observed value.
We consider the possibility that some primordial fields decay purely into the dark sector creating asymmetric dark matter. This asymmetry is subsequently transmuted into leptons and baryons. Within this paradigm we compute the amount of asymmetric dark matter created from the out of equilibrium decays of the primordial fields with CP violating Yukawa couplings. The dark matter asymmetry is then transferred to the visible sector by the asymmetry transfer equation and generates an excess of $B-L$. Baryogenesis occurs via sphaleron processes which conserve $B-L$ but violate $B+L$. A mechanism for…
Ultralight primordial black holes (PBHs)($\lesssim10^9$g) completely evaporate via Hawking radiation (HR) and produce all the particles in a given theory regardless of their other interactions. If the right handed (RH) neutrinos are produced from PBH evaporation, successful baryogenesis via leptogenesis predicts mass scale of RH neutrinos as well as black holes. We show that, given the lepton number violation (generation of RH neutrino masses) in the theory is a consequence of a gauged $U(1)$ breaking which is then followed by the formation of PBHs, a network of cosmic strings naturally gives …
We examine the extent to which primordial black holes (PBHs) can constitute the observed dark matter while also giving rise to the measured matter-antimatter asymmetry and account for the observed baryon abundance through asymmetric Hawking radiation generated by a derivative coupling of curvature to the baryon-lepton current. We consider both broad and monochromatic mass spectra for this purpose. For the monochromatic spectrum we find that the correct dark matter and baryon energy densities are recovered for peak masses of the spectrum of $M_{\rm pk} \geq 10^{12}$ kg whereas for the broad cas…
The spectrum of energy density fluctuations, baryon asymmetry, and coherent large-scale magnetic fields are the three observables that provide crucial information on physics at very high energies. Inflation can only provide a mechanism to explain the density perturbations, and the origin of primordial magnetic fields and baryon asymmetry require physics beyond the standard models of cosmology and particle physics. In this work, we show that the mechanism that leads to primordial helical fields also leads to baryogenesis at the beginning of the radiation-dominated epoch. The model we consider h…
In some baryogenesis scenarios, the universe acquires a non-vanishing average baryonic charge, but the baryon to photon ratio is not spatially constant and can be even negative in some space regions. This allows for existence of lumps of antimatter in our neighborhood and the possibility that very compact antimatter objects make a part of cosmological dark matter. Here I discuss the peculiar signatures which may be observed in a near future.

Recently Dolgov and Pozdnyakov proposed a new baryogenesis mechanism in which baryon asymmetry is produced without violating baryon number at the Lagrangian level. In this scenario, baryon asymmetry is generated by absorption of a new particle X carrying baryon number onto Primordial Black Holes (PBHs). Assuming CP-violation, the particle X is absorbed at a different rate than the antiparticle $\bar{X}$, producing an asymmetry in the baryonic number. We independently test this scenario, finding that it suffers from two fundamental issues.\\ At the phenomenological level, strong absorption by P…
If primordial black holes (PBHs) contribute more than 10 percent of the dark matter (DM) density, their energy density today is of the same order as that of the baryons. Such a cosmic coincidence might hint at a mutual origin for the formation scenario of PBHs and the baryon asymmetry of the Universe. Baryogenesis can be triggered by a sharp transition of the rolling rate of inflaton from slow-roll to (nearly) ultraslow-roll phases that produces large curvature perturbations for PBH formation in single-field inflationary models. We show that the baryogenesis requirement drives the PBH contribu…
In this work, we classify all the effective $U(1)$ symmetries and their associated Noether charges in the Standard Model (SM) and its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) from the highest scale after inflation down to the weak scale. We then demonstrate that the discovery of the violation of baryon minus lepton number ($B-L$) which pinpoints to its violation in primordial Universe at any cosmic temperature above $30$ TeV will open up a new window of baryogenesis in these effective charges above this scale. While the fast SM baryon number violation in the early Universe could be the first pi…
We investigate the influence of primordial perturbations of the energy density and space--time metric on the generation of the lepton and baryon asymmetries. In the weak and strong washout regimes baryon isocurvature perturbations with amplitudes of the same order as those of the CMB perturbations are generated on scales of order of the respective Hubble scale. They are, however, completely washed out by baryon and photon diffusion at the later stages of the universe's evolution.
It has been pointed out that hypermagnetic helicity decay at the electroweak symmetry breaking may have produced the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe through the chiral anomaly in the standard model of particle physics. Although fully helical magnetic field that can adequately produce the observed baryon asymmetry is not strong enough to explain the origin of the intergalactic magnetic field inferred by the Fermi satellite, the mixture of helical and nonhelical primordial magnetic fields may explain both baryogenesis and the intergalactic magnetic fields simultaneously. We first show …
The origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe remains one of the outstanding questions yet to be answered by modern cosmology and also one of only a handful of problems where the need of a larger number of degrees of freedom than those contained in the standard model (SM) is better illustrated. An appealing scenario for the generation of baryon number is the electroweak phase transition that took place when the temperature of the universe was about 100 GeV. Though in the minimal version of the SM, and without considering the interaction of the SM particles with additional degre…
We explore the interplay between light primordial black holes (PBH) and high-scale baryogenesis, with a particular emphasis on leptogenesis. We first review a generic baryogenesis scenario where a heavy particle, $X$, with mass, $M_X$, produced solely from PBH evaporation decays to generate a baryon asymmetry. We show that the viable parameter space is bounded from above by $M_X \lesssim 10^{17}$ GeV and increases with decreasing $M_X$. We demonstrate that regions of the leptogenesis parameter space where the lightest right-handed neutrino (RHN) mass $M_{N_{1}}\gtrsim 10^{15}\,{\rm GeV}$ and n…
We show that in the presence of large scale primordial hypermagnetic fields, it is possible to generate a large amount of CP violation to explain the baryon to entropy ratio during the electroweak phase transition within the standard model. The mechanism responsible for the existence of a CP violating asymmetry is the chiral nature of the fermion coupling to the background field in the symmetric phase which can be used to construct two-fermion interference processes in analogy to the Bohm-Aharanov effect. We estimate that for strong hypermagnetic fields B_Y=(0.3-0.5)T^2 the baryon to entropy r…
We study the Affleck-Dine (AD) baryogenesis in the inflating curvaton scenario, when the curvaton is a moduli field with O($10-10^2$TeV) mass. A moduli field with such mass is known to be free from the Polonyi problem, and furthermore its decay products can explain the present cold dark matter abundance. In our scenario, it further explains the primordial curvature perturbation and the present baryon density all together. The current observational bound on the baryon isocurvature perturbation, which severely constrains the AD baryogenesis with the original oscillating moduli curvaton scenario,…
In this paper we investigate the primordial nucleosynthesis in $\mathscr{L}=\varepsilon^{2-2β}R^β+{16π}m_P^{-2}\mathscr{L}_m$ gravity, where $\varepsilon$ is a constant balancing the dimension of the field equation, and $1<β<(4+\sqrt{6})/5$ for the positivity of energy density and temperature. From the semianalytical approach, the influences of $β$ to the decoupling of neutrinos, the freeze-out temperature and concentration of nucleons, the opening of deuterium bottleneck, and the $^4$He abundance are all extensively analyzed; then $β$ is constrained to $1<β<1.05$ for $\varepsilon=1$ [1/s] and…
We perform numerical simulations of Cold Electroweak Baryogenesis, including for the first time in the Bosonic sector the full electroweak gauge group SU(2)$\times$U(1) and CP-violation. We find that the maximum generated baryon asymmetry is reduced by a factor of three relative to the SU(2)-only model, but that the quench time dependence is very similar. In addition, we compute the magnitude of the helical magnetic fields, and find that it is proportional to the strength of CP-violation and dependent on quench time, but is not proportional to the magnitude of the baryon asymmetry as proposed …
It has been argued that electroweak baryogenesis generates a left-handed primordial magnetic field. The helicity density of the primordial magnetic field today is estimated to be $\sim 10^2 n_b$ where $n_b\sim 10^{-6}$ /cm$^3$ is the present cosmological baryon number density. With certain assumptions about the inverse cascade the field strength at recombination is $\sim 10^{-13}$ G on a coherence scale $\sim 10^{-4}$ pc. Here I discuss the various assumptions made in obtaining these estimates and the concomitant open issues.
Spontaneous breaking of Lorentz invariance compatible with observational limits may realistically take place in the context of string theories, possibly endowing the photon with a mass. In this process the conformal symmetry of the electromagnetic action is broken allowing for the possibility of generating large scale ($\sim Mpc$) magnetic fields within inflationary scenarios. We show that for reheating temperatures safe from the point of view of the gravitino and moduli problem, $T_{RH} \laq 10^{9} GeV$ for $m_{3/2} \approx 1 TeV$, the strength of the generated seed fields is, in our mechanis…
The gapless fermionic excitations in superfluid 3He-A have a "relativistic" spectrum close to the gap nodes. They are the counterpart of the chiral particles (left-handed and right-handed) in high energy physics above the electroweak transition. We discuss the effective gravity and effective gauge fields, induced by these massless fermions in the low-energy corner. The interaction of the chiral fermions with the gauge field in 3He-A is discussed in detail. It gives rise to the effect of axial anomaly: conversion of the charge from the coherent motion of the condensate (vacuum) to the quasipart…
Contrary to the common lore based on naive dimensional analysis, the seesaw scale for neutrino masses can be naturally in the TeV range, with small parameters coming from radiative corrections. We present one such class of type-I seesaw models, based on the left-right gauge group $SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R\times U(1)_{B-L}$ realized at the TeV scale, which fits the observed neutrino oscillation parameters as well as other low energy constraints. We discuss how the small parameters of this scenario can arise naturally from one loop effects. The neutrino fits in this model use quasi-degenerate heavy…
In a recent paper[1] Kundu and one of the present authors showed that there were transient but observable CP violating effects in the decay of classical currents on the horizon of a black hole, if the Lagrangian of the Maxwell field contained a CP violating angle θ. In this paper we demonstrate that a similar effect can be seen in the quantum mechanics of QED: a non-trivial Berry phase in the QED wave function is produced by in-falling electric charges. We also investigate whether CP violation, of this or any other type, might be used to produce the baryon asymmetry of the universe, in models …
We investigate whether the baryon asymmetry of the universe is explained in the framework of the supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with R-parity violating interactions. It is shown that the Affleck-Dine mechanism naturally works via a trilinear interaction $LLE^c$, $LQD^c$, or $U^cD^cD^c$, if the magnitude of the coupling corresponding to the operator $λ$, $λ'$, or $λ''$ is sufficiently small. The formation of Q-balls and their subsequent evolution are also discussed. The present baryon asymmetry can be explained in the parameter region where R-parity is mildly violated $10^{-9}\l…
We investigate constraints on Lorentz invariance violation in the neutrino sector from a joint analysis of big bang nucleosynthesis and the cosmic microwave background. The effect of Lorentz invariance violation during the epoch of big bang nucleosynthesis changes the predicted helium-4 abundance, which influences the power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background at the recombination epoch. In combination with the latest measurement of the primordial helium-4 abundance, the Planck 2015 data of the cosmic microwave background anisotropies give a strong constraint on the deformation paramete…
