We introduce local topological entropy $h_{\text{top}}(T, \mathcal{U})$ and two kinds of local measure-theoretic entropy $h_μ^{(r)-}(T,\mathcal{U})$ and $h_μ^{(r)+}(T,\mathcal{U})$ for random bundle transformations. We derive a variational inequality of random local entropy for $h_μ^{(r)+}(T,\mathcal{U})$. As an application of such relation we prove a local variational principle in random dynamical system.
The topological pressure is defined for subadditive sequence of potentials in bundle random dynamical systems. A variational principle for the topological pressure is set up in a very weak condition. The result may have some applications in the study of multifractal analysis for random version of nonconformal dynamical systems.
We introduce the relative tail entropy to establish a variational principle for continuous bundle random dynamical systems. We also show that the relative tail entropy is conserved by the principal extension.
In this paper, we define the topological pressure for sub-additive potentials via separated sets in random dynamical systems and we give a proof of the relativized variational principle for the topological pressure.
We give an effective sufficient condition for a variational problem with infinite horizon on a compact Riemannian manifold M to admit a smooth optimal synthesis, i. e. a smooth dynamical system on M whose positive semi-trajectories are solutions to the problem. To realize the synthesis we construct a well-projected to M invariant Lagrange submanifold of the extremals' flow in the cotangent bundle T*M. The construction uses the curvature of the flow in the cotangent bundle and some ideas of hyperbolic dynamics.
In this paper we extend the notion of a continuous bundle random dynamical system to the setting where the action of $\R$ or $\N$ is replaced by the action of an infinite countable discrete amenable group. Given such a system, and a monotone sub-additive invariant family of random continuous functions, we introduce the concept of local fiber topological pressure and establish an associated variational principle, relating it to measure-theoretic entropy. We also discuss some variants of this variational principle. We introduce both topological and measure-theoretic entropy tuples for continuous…

In this paper we present a general framework that allows one to study discretization of certain dynamical systems. This generalizes earlier work on discretization of Lagrangian and Hamiltonian systems on tangent bundles and cotangent bundles respectively. In particular we show how to obtain a large class of discrete algorithms using this geometric approach. We give new geometric insight into the Newmark model for example and we give a direct discrete formulation of the Hamilton-Jacobi method. Moreover we extend these ideas to deriving a discrete version of the maximum principle for smooth opti…
The Clebsch method provides a unifying approach for deriving variational principles for continuous and discrete dynamical systems where elements of a vector space are used to control dynamics on the cotangent bundle of a Lie group \emph{via} a velocity map. This paper proves a reduction theorem which states that the canonical variables on the Lie group can be eliminated, if and only if the velocity map is a Lie algebra action, thereby producing the Euler-Poincaré (EP) equation for the vector space variables. In this case, the map from the canonical variables on the Lie group to the vector spac…

This paper develops a structure-preserving numerical integration scheme for a class of higher-order mechanical systems. The dynamics of these systems are governed by invariant variational principles defined on higher-order tangent bundles of Lie groups. The variational principles admit Lagrangians that depend on acceleration, for example. The symmetry reduction method used in the Hamilton--Pontryagin approach for developing variational integrators of first-order mechanics is extended here to higher order. The paper discusses the general approach and then focuses on the primary example of Riema…
Symmetries of variational problems are considered as symmetries of vector bundle valued exterior differential systems. This approach is then applied to third order ordinary variational equations of motion of the semi-classical spinning particle.
We show that the principle of maximum entropy, a variational method appearing in statistical inference, statistical physics, and the analysis of stochastic dynamical systems, admits a geometric description from gauge theory. Using the connection on a principal $G$-bundle, the gradient flow maximising entropy is written in terms of constraint functions which interact with the dynamics of the probabilistic degrees of freedom of a diffusion process. This allows us to describe the point of maximum entropy as parallel transport over the state space. In particular, it is proven that the solubility o…
