The unitary isobar model MAID2007 has been used to analyze the recent data of pion electroproduction. The model contains all four-star resonances in the region below W=2 GeV and both single-Q^2 and Q^2 dependent transition form factors could be obtained for the Delta, Roper, D13(1520), S11(1535), S31(1620), S11(1650), D15(1675), F15(1680) and P13(1720). From the complete world data base, including also pi- data on the neutron, also Q^2 dependent neutron form factors are obtained. For all transition form factors we also give convenient numerical parameterizations that can be used in other reactions. Furthermore, we show how the transition form factors can be used to obtain empirical transverse charge densities and our first results are given for the Roper, the S11 and D13 resonances.
The unitary isobar model MAID2007 has been developed to analyze the world data of pion photo- and electroproduction. The model contains both a common background and several resonance terms. The background is unitarized according to the K-matrix prescription, and the 13 four-star resonances with masses below 2 GeV are described by appropriately unitarized Breit-Wigner forms. The data have been analyzed by both single-energy and global fits, and the transverse and longitudinal helicity amplitudes have been extracted for the four-star resonances below 2 GeV. Because of its inherent simplicity, MA…
MAID is a unitary isobar model for a partial wave analysis of pion photo- and electroproduction in the resonance region. It is fitted to the world data and can give predictions for multipoles, amplitudes, cross sections and polarization observables in the energy range from pion threshold up to W=2 GeV and photon virtualities Q^2 < 5 GeV^2. Using more recent experimental results from Mainz, Bates, Bonn and JLab for Q^2 up to 4.0 GeV^2, the Q^2 dependence of the helicity couplings A_{1/2}, A_{3/2}, S_{1/2} has been extracted for a series of four star resonances. We compare single-Q^2 analyses wi…
Recent data for $η$ and $η\prime$ photoproduction on protons obtained by the A2 Collaboration at MAMI are presented. The total cross section for $η$ photoproduction demonstrates a cusp at the energy corresponding to the $η\prime$ threshold. The new data and existing data from GRAAL, CBELSA/TAPS, and CLAS collaborations have been analyzed by an expansion in terms of associated Legendre polynomials. %A Legendre decomposition shows the sensitivity to small partial-wave contributions. The isobar model $η$MAID updated with $η\prime$ channel and new resonances have been used to fit the new data. The…
The unitary isobar model MAID has been extended and used for a partial wave analysis of pion photo- and electroproduction in the resonance region W < 2 GeV. Older data from the world data base and more recent experimental results from Mainz, Bates, Bonn and JLab for Q^2 up to 4.0 (GeV/c)^2 have been analyzed and the Q^2 dependence of the helicity amplitudes have been extracted for a series of four star resonances. We compare single-Q^2 analyses with a superglobal fit in a new parametrization of Maid2003 together with predictions of the hypercentral constituent quark model. As a result we find …
Eta photo- and electroproduction on the nucleon is studied using an isobar model. The model contains Born terms, and contributions from vector meson exchanges and nucleon resonances. Our results are compared with recent eta photoproduction data for differential and total cross sections, beam asymmetry, and target asymmetry, as well as electroproduction data. Besides the dominant S11(1535) resonance, we show that the second S11 resonance, S11(1650), is also necessary to be included in order to extract S11(1535) resonance parameters properly. In addition, the beam asymmetry data allow us to extr…
New kaon photoproduction data on a proton, gamma + p --> K+ + Lambda, are analyzed using a multipole approach. The background terms are given in terms of gauge invariant, crossing symmetric, Born diagrams with hadronic form factors, while the resonances are parameterized using Breit-Wigner forms. Preliminary results suggest a number of new resonances, as predicted by many quark model studies. A comparison between the extracted multipoles and those obtained from KAON-MAID is presented.
The isobar models eta-MAID and eta'-MAID have been used to analyze new data on quasi-free eta photoproduction on the deuteron from Bonn and recent eta' data on the proton from Jlab. In eta photoproduction on the neutron a bump around W=1700 MeV was observed which could possibly arise from a narrow P11 state that is discussed as a non-strange member of the Theta^+ anti-decuplett. In eta' photoproduction on the proton resonance contributions are found that can be attributed to missing resonances in the energy region around W=1900 MeV.
The unitary isobar model MAID is used for a partial wave analysis of pion photoproduction and electroproduction data on the nucleon. In particular we have taken emphasis on the region of the Delta(1232) resonance and have separated the resonance and background amplitudes with the K-matrix approach. This leads to electromagnetic properties of the dressed Delta resonance, where all multipole amplitudes become purely imaginary and all form factors and helicity amplitudes become purely real at the K-matrix pole of W=M_Delta=1232 MeV. The REM=E2/M1 and RSM=C2/M1 ratios of the quadrupole excitation …
We study the interaction of vector mesons with the octet of stable baryons in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism using a coupled channels unitary approach, including also the pseudoscalar-baryon channels which couple to the same quantum numbers. We examine the scattering amplitudes and their poles, which can be associated to known $J^P=1/2^-,3/2^-$ baryon resonances, and determine the role of the pseudoscalar-baryon channels, changing the width and eventually the mass of the resonances generated with only the basis of vector-baryon states.
We study the radiative decay into $γ$ and a baryon of the SU(3) octet and decuplet of nine and ten resonances that are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with baryons of the octet and the decuplet respectively. We obtain quite different partial decay widths for the various resonances, and for different charge states of the same resonance, suggesting that the experimental investigation of these radiative decays should bring much information on the nature of these resonances. For the case of baryons of the octet we determine the helicity amplitudes and compare them with …
Meson-baryon interactions are the fundamental building blocks to study the structures of baryon resonances and meson properties in few-body nuclear systems. We review the recent progress in the investigation of the meson-baryon interaction in the strangeness S=-1 sector and the structure of the Lambda(1405) resonance. In particular, we present an attempt to construct a realistic Kbar N-pi Sigma interaction in chiral SU(3) dynamics in response to the precise measurement of the kaonic hydrogen, and discuss the subthreshold extrapolation of the Kbar N interaction with the information of the pi Si…
The structure of baryon resonance in coupled-channel meson-baryon scattering is studied from the viewpoint of chiral dynamics. The meson-baryon scattering amplitude can be successfully described together with the properties of the resonance in the scattering, by implementing the unitarity condition for the amplitude whose low energy structure is constrained by chiral theorem. Recently, there have been a major progress in the study of the structure of the resonance in chiral dynamics. We review the methods to clarify the structure of the resonance by focusing on the Lambda(1405) resonance.
A longitudinal transition operator that satisfies the gauge invariance requirement is introduced in constituent quark model. The corresponding longitudinal transitions between the nucleon and baryon resonances are calculated. We show that the study of the longitudinal coupling plays an important role in understanding the structure of baryons.
Heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory is briefly reviewed, paying particular attention to the role of the spin 3/2 delta resonances. The concept of resonance saturation for the baryonic sector is critically discussed. Starting from a relativistic formulation of the pion-nucleon-delta system, the heavy baryon chiral lagrangian including spin 3/2 resonances is constructed by means of a 1/m-expansion. The effective theory obtained admits a systematic expansion in terms of soft momenta, the pion mass $M_π$ and the delta-nucleon mass difference $Δ$.
We present a model for electron scattering off nuclei and photon absorption in the resonance energy region (W <= 2 GeV). The elementary gamma/gamma* N-vertex is described using in-medium kinematics and up-to-date form factors for QE-scattering, pion-production form-factors and resonance helicity amplitudes of the MAID analysis. We find good agreement with inclusive data on electron scattering off Oxygen. For photon absorption in Carbon we find a large impact of the momentum dependent mean-field acting on initial- and final-state baryons.
We study the meson-baryon interaction with $J^P=1/2^-$ using the hidden-gauge Lagrangians and mixing pseudoscalar meson-baryon with the vector meson-baryon states in a coupled channels scheme with $πN$, $ηN$, $KΛ$, $KΣ$, $ρN$ and $πΔ$ (d-wave). We fit the subtraction constants of each channel to the $S_{11}$ partial wave amplitude of the $πN$ scattering data extracted from experimental data. We find two poles that we associate to the $N^*(1535)$ and the $N^*(1650)$ resonances and show that the subtraction constants are all negative and of natural size. We calculate the branching ratios for the…
In this work we extend our formalism to study meson-baryon interactions by including $s$- and $u$-channel diagrams for pseudoscalar-baryon systems. We study the coupled systems with strangeness $-1$ and focus on studying the isospin-1 resonance(s), especially in the energy region around 1400 MeV. By constraining the model parameters to fit the cross section data available on several processes involving relevant channels, we find resonances in the isoscalar as well as the isovector sector in the energy region around 1400 MeV.
We discuss recent calculations of electromagnetic form factors and strong decay widths of nucleon and delta resonances. The calculations are done in a collective constituent model of the nucleon, in which the baryons are interpreted as rotations and vibrations of an oblate top.
The LHCb Collaboration has recently observed two narrow baryon resonances with beauty. Their masses and decay modes look consistent with the quark model orbitally excited states Lambda_b(5912) and Lambda*_b(5920), with quantum numbers J^P=1/2^- and 3/2^-, respectively. We predict the existence of these states within a unitarized meson-baryon coupled-channel dynamical model, which implements heavy-quark spin symmetry. Masses, quantum numbers and couplings of these resonances to the different meson-baryon channels are obtained. We find that the resonances Lambda^0_b(5912) and Lambda^0_b(5920) ar…
We investigate the coupling of vector mesons with nucleons to nucleon resonances in an isospin-selective VMD approach and explore the in-medium properties of vector mesons.
We investigate the effects of finite baryon chemical potential on the transport properties of a hadron resonance gas. We find that a hadron resonance gas with large baryon number density is closer to the ideal fluid limit than the corresponding gas with zero baryon number. This suggests that the system created at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at lower collision energies may behave as a fluid, with an effective fluidity close to the one found at RHIC's highest energy near phase transition. This might explain why the differential elliptic flow coefficient measured at lower collision…
Baryon resonances with even and odd parity are collectively investigated from the viewpoint of chiral symmetry(ChS). We propose a quartet scheme where Delta's and N^*'s with even and odd parity form a chiral multiplet. This scheme gives parameter-free constraints on the baryon masses in the quartet, which are consistent with observed masses with spin 1/2, 3/2, 5/2. The scheme also gives selection rules in the one-pion decay: The absence of the parity non-changing decay N(1720) -> pi Delta(1232) is a typical example which should be confirmed experimentally to unravel the role of ChS in baryon r…
Partial decay widths of the nucleon resonances $S_{11}(1535)$, $S_{11}(1650)$, $D_{13}(1520)$ and $D_{13}(1700)$ to the pseudoscalar mesons and octet baryons are studied within a chiral constituent quark model. The effects of the configurations mixing between the states $|N^{2}_{8}P_{M}>$ and $|N^{4}_{8}P_{M}>$ are considered, taking into account the breakdown of the $SU(6)\otimes O(3)$ symmetry. In addition, possible contributions of the strangeness components in the $S_{11}$ resonances are investigated. Experimental data for the partial decay widths of the $S_{11}$ and $D_{13}$ resonances ar…
We stress, on theoretical and phenomenological grounds, the importance of the $Δ(1232)$-resonance in a chiral effective field theory approach applied to the study of $πN$ scattering. We show how its inclusion as a dynamical degree of freedom allow us to obtain reliably valuable information from $πN$ scattering data.
We study the quark mass dependence of $J^P = \frac12^-$ s-wave baryon resonances. Parameter free results are obtained in terms of the leading order chiral Lagrangian. In the 'heavy' SU(3) limit with $m_π=m_K \simeq $ 500 MeV the resonances turn into bound states forming two octets plus a singlet representations of the SU(3) group. A contrasted result is obtained in the 'light' SU(3) limit with $m_π=m_K \simeq $ 140 MeV for which no resonances exist. Using physical quark masses our analysis suggests to assign to the $S=-2$ resonances $Ξ(1690)$ and $Ξ(1620)$ the quantum numbers $J^P=1/2^-$.
A well pronounced spin--grouping of baryon resonances to O(4) partial waves is found in baryon spectra and shown to be well interpreted in terms of Lorentz group representations of the type (1/2 +l', 1/2 +l')* [(1/2, 0)+(0,1/2)] with l' integer. In this way the relativistic description of finite dimensional resonance towers containing higher-spin states becomes possible. It is further argued that the nucleon excitations into the l'=1 and l'=2 multiplets are chiral phase transitions.
Electromagnetic resonance properties are uniquely defined at the pole and do not depend on the separation of the resonance from background or the decay channel. Photon-nucleon branching ratios are nowadays often quoted at the pole, and we generalize the considerations to the case of virtual photons. We derive and compare relations for nucleon to baryon transition form factors both for the Breit-Wigner and the pole positions. Using the MAID2007 and SAID SM08 partial wave analyses of pion electroproduction data, we compare the $G_M$, $G_E$, and $G_C$ form factors for the $Δ(1232)$ resonance exci…
We consider the electromagnetic transition form factors of the Roper resonance in the framework of an effective field theory of pions, nucleons and delta and Roper resonances as explicit degrees of freedom. Due to the lack experimental data in the region of applicability of low energy effective field theory we fit available free coupling constants and compare obtained results compare to the predictions of a theoretical model.
We study the interaction of vector mesons with the octet of stable baryons in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism using a coupled channels unitary approach. We examine the scattering amplitudes and their poles, which can be associated to known J^P=1/2^-,3/2^- baryon resonances, in some cases, or give predictions in other ones. The formalism employed produces doublets of degenerate J^P=1/2^-,3/2^- states, a pattern which is observed experimentally in several cases. The findings of this work should also be useful to guide present experimental programs searching for new resonances, …
This study appertains to the extraction of estimates for the masses and for the partial decay widths to pion-nucleon final states of the well-established (four-star) $s$ and $p$ baryon resonances below $2$ GeV. These estimates are exclusively obtained from the data contained in the recent compilation by the Particle Data Group. Only the $N$ ($S=0,I=1/2$) and the $Δ$ ($S=0,I=3/2$) states are considered, where $S$ and $I$ denote strangeness and total isospin, respectively.
Starting from a consistent SU(6) extension of the Weinberg-Tomozawa (WT) meson-baryon chiral Lagrangian (Phys. Rev. D74 (2006) 034025), we study the s-wave meson-baryon resonances in the strangeness S=-3 and negative parity sector. Those resonances are generated by solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation with the WT interaction used as kernel. The considered mesons are those of the 35-SU(6)-plet, which includes the pseudoscalar (PS) octet of pions and the vector (V) nonet of the rho meson. For baryons we consider the 56-SU(6)-plet, made of the 1/2+ octet of the nucleon and the 3/2+ decuplet of the…
The purpose of this work is to study vector meson-octet baryon interactions with the aim to find dynamical generation of resonances in such systems. For this, we consider s-, t-, u-channel diagrams along with a contact interaction originating from the hidden local symmetry Lagrangian. We find the contribution from all these sources, except the s-channel, to be important. The amplitudes obtained by solving coupled channel Bethe Salpeter equations for systems with total strangeness zero, show generation of one isospin 3/2, spin 1/2 resonance and three isospin 1/2 resonances: two with spin 3/2 an…
We use a consistent SU(6) extension of the meson-baryon chiral Lagrangian within a coupled channel unitary approach in order to calculate the T-matrix for meson-baryon scattering in s-wave. The building blocks of the scheme are the pion and nucleon octets, the rho nonet and the Delta decuplet. We identify poles in this unitary T-matrix and interpret them as resonances. We study here the non exotic sectors with strangeness S=0,-1,-2,-3 and spin J=1/2, 3/2 and 5/2. Many of the poles generated can be associated with known N, Delta, Sigma, Lambda and Xi resonances with negative parity. We show tha…
The equation of state of a baryon-symmetric hadronic matter with hard-sphere interactions is studied. It is assumed that mesons are point-like, but baryons and antibaryons have the same hard-core radius rB. Three possibilities are considered: 1) the baryon-baryon and antibaryon-baryon interactions are the same; 2) baryons do not interact with antibaryons; 3) the baryon-antibaryon and meson-(anti)baryon interactions are negligible. By choosing the parameter rB=0.3-0.6 fm, we calculate the nucleon to pion ratio as a function of temperature and perform the fit of hadron yields measured in central…
The mass spectra of strange baryons in the octet family are investigated in a finite-energy QCD sum rule approach based on the Gauss-Weierstrass transform. The phenomenological form of the spectral function is saturated by the ground state and two of the lowest excited states, considered as having opposite parities. Treating the ground state parameters as known, the masses, widths and couplings to the interpolating fields are determined and compared to experiment.
We study the behavior with the number of colors (Nc) of the two poles associated to the Lambda(1405) resonance obtained dynamically within the chiral unitary approach. The leading order chiral meson-baryon interaction manifests a nontrivial Nc dependence for SU(3) baryons, which gives a finite attractive interaction in some channels in the large Nc limit. As a consequence, the SU(3) singlet (Kbar N) component of the Lambda(1405) survives in the large Nc limit as a bound state, while the other components dissolve into the continuum. The Nc dependence of the decay widths shows different behavior…
The recently proposed mechanism for the formation of the Roper resonance, in which a dynamically generated state as well as a genuine three-quark resonant state play an equally important role, is confronted with the model proposed almost twenty years ago in which the Roper is pictured as a molecular state of the nucleon and the $σ$ meson.
In this talk, we report the theoretical studies of baryon resonances for the gamma p ---> K*0 Sigma+ and gamma p ---> K*+ Sigma0 reaction processes by making use of the effective Lagrangian method in the tree-level Born approximation. The numerical results for the total and differential cross sections are shown with the presently available data. It turns out that the contributions from the N* and Delta* resonances are almost negligible near the threshold energy. On the other hand, the effects of the K exchange in the t channel and Delta(1232) in the s channel are considerably larger than other…
In this two part series a chiral confining model of baryons is used to describe low--lying negative parity resonances $N^*$, $Δ^*$, $Λ^*$ and $Σ^*$ in the mean field approximation. A physical baryon in this model consists of interacting valence quarks, mesons and a color and chiral singlet hybrid field coexisting inside a dynamically generated confining region. This first paper presents the quark contribution to the masses and wave functions of negative parity baryons calculated with an effective spin--isospin dependent instanton induced interaction. It does not include meson exchanges between…
As the pion mass approaches a critical value $m_π^\star$ from below, an $S$-wave resonance crosses pion-baryon threshold and becomes a bound state with arbitrarily small binding energy, thus driving the scattering length to diverge. I explore the consequences of chiral symmetry for the values of $m_π$ close to $m_π^\star$. It turns out that chiral symmetry is crucial for an $S$-wave resonance to be able to stand very near threshold and in the meantime to remain narrow, provided that the mass splitting is reasonably small. The effective range of pion-baryon scattering is unexpectedly large, pro…
Inclusive single pion photoproduction on the deuteron is studied in the first resonance region. The calculation is based on the use of the diagrammatic approach. Pole diagrams and one-loop diagrams with NN rescattering in the final state are taken into account. The elementary operator for pion photoproduction from the nucleon is taken in on-shell form and calculated using the SAID and MAID multipole analyses. Our predictions for total and differential cross section show good agreement with the available experimental data. Invoking some information on the reactions $gamma d\toπ^0 d and $γd\to n…
I give an estimate for the skewness and the kurtosis of the baryon number distribution in two representative models; i.e., models of a hadron resonance gas and relativistic mean-field nuclear matter. I emphasize formal similarity between these two descriptions. The hadron resonance gas leads to a deviation from the Skellam distribution if quantum statistical correlation is taken into account at high baryon density, but this effect is not strong enough to explain fluctuation data seen in the beam-energy scan at RHIC/STAR. In the calculation of mean-field nuclear matter the density correlation w…
We discuss baryon resonances which are dynamically generated in hadron dynamics based on chiral coupled channels approach. With the dynamical description of the baryon resonance, we discuss the origin of the resonance pole, finding that for the description of N(1535) some other components than meson and baryon are necessary. Since the chiral unitary model provides a microscopic description in terms of constituent hadrons, it is straightforward to calculate transition amplitudes and form factors of resonances without introducing further parameters. Finally we briefly discuss few-body nuclear ka…
An isobar model containing Born terms, vector meson exchange and nucleon resonances is used to analyze recent eta photoproduction data for cross section and beam asymmetry, as well as JLab electroproduction data. Good overall description is achieved up to Q^2 = 4.0 (GeV/c)^2. Besides the dominant S11(1535) resonance, we show that the second S11 resonance, S11(1650), is also necessary to be included in order to extract S11(1535) resonance parameters properly. In addition, the beam asymmetry data allow us to extract very small (<0.1%) N* --> eta N decay branching ratios of D13(1520) and F15(1680…
New high-precision total and differential cross sections for $η$ and $η'$ photoproduction on the proton obtained by the A2 Collaboration at the Mainz Microtron are presented. The data for $η$ photoproduction demonstrate a cusp at the energy W$\sim$1.9~GeV. Furthermore, we present a new version of the $η$MAID model for $η$ and $η'$ photoproduction. The model includes 23 nucleon resonances parametrized with Breit-Wigner shapes. The background is described by vector and axial-vector meson exchanges in the $t$ channel using the Regge phenomenology. Parameters of the resonances were obtained from a…
We complement recent advances in the calculation of the masses of excited baryons in quenched lattice QCD with finite-range regulated chiral effective field theory enabling contact with the physical quark mass region. We examine the P-wave contributions to the low-lying nucleon and delta resonances.
Charmed baryon resonances that are generated dynamically are studied within a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channel model, which incorporates heavy-quark spin symmetry. The extension of the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry plus a suitable symmetry breaking is used. The model produces resonances with negative parity from s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. Some of our dynamically generated states can be readily assigned to resonances found experimentally, while others do not have a straightforward identific…
The main features of nuclear reactions with participation of baryon resonances ($Δ$(1232), S(1535) and $Λ$(1405)), which are interpreted as a manifestation of the bound states of nucleus and corresponding meson are discussed.
We present an alternative interpretation for the dynamical origin of the P11 nucleon resonances, which results from the dynamical coupled-channels analysis at Excited Baryon Analysis Center of Jefferson Lab. The results indicate the crucial role of the multichannel reaction dynamics in determining the N^* spectrum.
Evidences and hints, both from the theoretical and experimental side, of exotic baryon resonances with B=S, have been with us for the last thirty years. The poor status of the general acceptance of these Z* resonances is partly due to the prejudice against penta-quark baryons and partly due to the opinion that a proof of the existence of exotic states must be rigorous. This can refer to the quality and amount of data gathered, and also to the analytical methods applied in the study of these resonances. It seems then mandatory that all possibilities and aspects be exploited. We do that by analy…
We study baryon resonances with heavy flavor in a molecular approach, thus as dynamically generated by meson-baryon scattering. This is accomplished by using a unitary coupled-channel model taking, as bare interaction, the extension to four flavors and spin symmetry of the Weinberg-Tomozawa interaction potential. A special attention is paid to the inclusion of heavy-quark spin symmetry and to the studies of the generated baryon resonances which complete the heavy-quark spin multiplets. We reproduce few charmed and strange baryon resonances found experimentally, that is, Λ_c(2595), Λ_c(2625), Ξ…
We study charmed and strange baryon resonances that are generated dynamically by a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channel model which incorporates heavy-quark spin symmetry. This is accomplished by extending the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry plus a suitable symmetry breaking. The model produces resonances with negative parity from s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. Resonances in all the isospin, spin, and strange sectors with one, two, and three charm units are studied. Our results are compared with exp…
The rho - omega interference in the exclusive reaction pi N \to N' e+ e- is studied within a schematic model including the established baryon resonances up to 1720 MeV. Near threshold the interference can be used to separate the isoscalar part of the electromagnetic current. The role of various baryon resonances is highlighted.
Dalitz decay of baryon resonances is studied and expressions for the decay width are derived for resonances with arbitrary spin and parity. Contributions of the various terms in the transition matrix element are compared and relevance of spin-parity and the resonance mass is discussed. Explicite algebraic expressions are cited for spin$\le$5/2 resonances. The results can be used in models of dielectron production in elementary reactions and heavy ion collisions.
Using the lowest order chiral Lagrangian we study s-wave interactions of the baryon decuplet with the octet of pseudoscalar mesons. We find two bound states in the flavour SU(3) limit corresponding to the octet and decuplet representations. These are found to split into eight different trajectories in the complex plane when the SU(3) symmetry is broken gradually. Finally, we are able to provide a reasonable description for a good number of 4-star 3/2- resonances listed by the Particle Data Group. In particular, the Xi(1820), the Lambda(1520) and the Sigma(1670) states are well reproduced. We p…
We have studied the $N^*(2120)$, $Δ^*(1940)$, and the possible $Σ^*(1380)$ resonances in the $γp \to K^+ Λ(1520)$, $pp \to n K^+ Σ(1385)$, and $Λp \to Λp π^0$ reactions within the resonance model and the effective Lagrangian approach. It is shown that when the contributions from these baryonic states were considered, the current experimental measurement could be well reproduced. In addition, we also demonstrate that the angular distributions provide direct information of these reactions, which could be useful for the investigation of those states and may be tested by future experiments.
Decay properties of multi-strangeness $Ξ$ and $Ω$ baryon resonances are investigated within the constituent quark model by including relativistic corrections. The strong decay widths of various $Ξ$ and $Ω$ resonances are computed and tested for internal quark configurations to pin down their spin-parity ($J^P$) quantum numbers and internal structures. We found that the Roper-like resonances in the multi-strangeness sector have large decay widths bearing resemblances to their siblings in light and heavy baryon sectors. In addition, we obtained the decay ratio for the $Ω(2012)$ as $Γ{(Ω\to Ξ\bar…
