We introduce discrete wave-front sets with respect to Fourier Lebesgue and modulation spaces. We prove that these wave-front sets agree with corresponding wave-front sets of "continuous type".
We define and study wave-front sets for weighted Fourier-Lebesgue spaces when the weights are moderate with respect to the associated functions for general sequences $\{ M_p\} $ which satisfy Komatsu's conditions $(M.1) - (M.3)'$. In particular, when $\{ M_p\} $ is the Gevrey sequence ($M_p = p!^s$, $s>1$) we recover some previously observed results. Furthermore, we consider wave-front sets for modulation spaces in the same setting, and prove the invariance property related to the Fourier-Lebesgue type wave-front sets.
We consider different types of (local) products $f_1 f_2$ in Fourier Lebesgue spaces. Furthermore, we prove the existence of such products for other distributions satisfying appropriate wave-front properties. We also consider semi-linear equations of the form $$ \qquad P(x,D)f = G(x,J_k f), $$ with appropriate polynomials $P $ and $G$. If the solution locally belongs to appropriate weighted Fourier Lebesgue space ${\mathscr F}L^q_{(ω)} (\rr d)$ and $P$ is non-characteristic at $(x_0,ξ_0),$ then we prove that $(x_0,ξ_0)\not \in WF_{{\mathscr F}L^q_{(\widetilde ω)}} (f)$, where $\widetildeω$ dep…
Let $ω,ω_0$ be appropriate weight functions and $q\in [1,\infty ]$. We introduce the wave-front set, $\WF_{\mathscr FL^q_{(ω)}}(f)$ of $f\in \mathscr S'$ with respect to weighted Fourier Lebesgue space $\mathscr FL^q_{(ω)}$. We prove that usual mapping properties for pseudo-differential operators $\op (a)$ with symbols $a$ in $S^{(ω_0)}_{ρ, 0}$ hold for such wave-front sets. Especially we prove \WF_{\mathscr FL^q_{(ω/ω_0)}}(\op (a)f)\subseteq \WF_{\mathscr FL^q_{(ω)}}(f) \subseteq \WF_{\mathscr FL^q_{(ω/ω_0)}}(\op (a)f)\ttbigcup \Char (a). %% Here $\Char (a)$ is the set of characteristic point…
We consider multiplication properties of elements in weighted Fourier Lebesgue and modulation spaces. Especially we extend some results by Pilipovic, Teofanov and Toft (2010).
We obtain discrete characterizations of wave front sets of Fourier-Lebesgue and quasianalytic type. It is shown that the microlocal properties of an ultradistribution can be obtained by sampling the Fourier transforms of its localizations over a lattice in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$. In particular, we prove the following discrete characterization of the analytic wave front set of a distribution $f\in\mathcal{D}'(Ω)$. Let $Λ$ be a lattice in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ and let $U$ be an open convex neighborhood of the origin such that $U\capΛ^{*}=\{0\}$. The analytic wave front set $WF_{A}(f)$ coincides with the co…
We establish sharp convolution and multiplication estimates in weighted Lebesgue, Fourier Lebesgue and modulation spaces. Especially we recover some known results.
We discuss continuity of the twisted convolution on (weighted) Fourier modulation spaces. We use these results to establish continuity results for the twisted convolution on Lebesgue spaces. For example we prove that if $ω$ is an appropriate weight and $1\le p\le 2$, then $L^p_{(ω)}$ is an algebra under the twisted convolution.
In this note we present the metric approximation property for weighted mixed-norm $L_w^{(p_1,\dots ,p_n)}$ and variable exponent Lebesgue type spaces. As a consequence, this also implies the same property for modulation and Wiener-Amalgam spaces. We then characterise nuclear operators on such spaces and state the corresponding Grothendieck-Lidskii trace formulae. We apply the obtained results to derive criteria for nuclearity and trace formulae for periodic operators on $\mathbb R^n$ and functions of the harmonic oscillator in terms of the global symbol.
We give a fundament for Berezin's analytic $Ψ$do considered in \cite{Berezin71} in terms of Bargmann images of Pilipovi{ć} spaces. We deduce basic continuity results for such $Ψ$do, especially when the operator kernels are in suitable mixed weighted Lebesgue spaces and act on certain weighted Lebesgue spaces of entire functions. In particular, we show how these results imply well-known continuity results for real $Ψ$do with symbols in modulation spaces, when acting on other modulation spaces.
We give sufficient conditions on the Lebesgue exponents for compositions of odd numbers of pseudo-differential operators with symbols in modulation spaces. As a byproduct, we obtain sufficient conditions for twisted convolutions of odd numbers of factors to be bounded on Wiener amalgam spaces.
In this paper we extend some results from our earlier papers on wave-front sets, concerning wave-front sets of Fourier-Lebesgue and modulation space types, to a broader class of spaces of ultradistributions, and relate these wave-front sets with the usual wave-front sets of ultradistributions. Furthermore, we use Gabor frames for the description of discrete wave-front sets, and prove that these wave-front sets coincide with corresponding continuous ones.
We introduce global wave-front sets $\operatorname{WF}_{\mathcal B} (f)$, $f\in {\mathscr S}^\prime(\textbf{R}^d)$, with respect to suitable Banach or Fréchet spaces ${\mathcal B}$. An important special case is given by the modulation spaces ${\mathcal B}=M(ω,\mathscr B)$, where $ω$ is an appropriate weight function and $\mathscr B$ is a translation invariant Banach function space. We show that the standard properties for known notions of wave-front set extend to $\operatorname{WF}_{\mathcal B} (f)$. In particular, we prove that micro locality and microellipticity hold for a class of globally …
We characterise modulation spaces by suitable Wiener estimates on the short-time Fourier transforms of the involved functions and distributions. We use the results to refine some formulae on periodic distributions with Lebesgue estimates on their coefficients.
We consider modulation space and spaces of Schatten-von Neumann symbols where corresponding pseudo-differential operators map one Hilbert space to another. We prove Hölder-Young and Young type results for such spaces under dilated convolutions and multiplications. We also prove continuity properties for such spaces under the twisted convolution, and the Weyl product. These results lead to continuity properties for twisted convolutions on Lebesgue spaces, e.{}g. $L^p_{(ω)}$ is a twisted convolution algebra when $1\le p\le 2$ and appropriate weight $ω$.
We give sufficient and necessary conditions on the Lebesgue exponents for the Weyl product to be bounded on modulation spaces. The sufficient conditions are obtained as the restriction to $N=2$ of a result valid for the $N$-fold Weyl product. As a byproduct, we obtain sharp conditions for the twisted convolution to be bounded on Wiener amalgam spaces.
We give a complete characterization of the continuity of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in modulation spaces $M^{p,q}$, acting on a given Lebesgue space $L^r$. Namely, we find the full range of triples $(p,q,r)$, for which such a boundedness occurs. More generally, we completely characterize the same problem for operators acting on Wiener amalgam space $W(L^r,L^s)$ and even on modulation spaces $M^{r,s}$. Finally the action of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in $W(\Fur L^1,L^\infty)$ is also investigated.
In this paper various properties of global and local changes of variables as well as properties of canonical transforms are investigated on modulation and Wiener amalgam spaces. We establish several relations among localisations of modulation and Wiener amalgam spaces and, as a consequence, we obtain several versions of local and global Beurling-Helson type theorems. We also establish a number of positive results such as local boundedness of canonical transforms on modulation spaces, properties of homogeneous changes of variables, and local continuity of Fourier integral operators on Fourier L…
We investigate mapping properties for the Bargmann transform on modulation spaces whose weights and their reciprocals are allowed to grow faster than exponentials. We prove that this transform is isometric and bijective from modulation spaces to convenient Lebesgue spaces of analytic functions. We use this to prove that such modulation spaces fulfill most of the continuity properties which are well-known when the weights are moderated. Finally we use the results to establish continuity properties of Toeplitz and pseudo-differential operators in the context of these modulation spaces.
We establish continuity and Schatten-von Neumann properties for matrix operators with matrices satisfying mixed quasi-norm estimates. These considerations also include the case when the Lebesgue and Schatten parameters are allowed to stay between $0$ and $1$. We use the results to deduce continuity and Schatten-von Neumann properties for pseudo-differential operators with symbols in a broad class of modulation spaces.
We study decay and smoothness properties for eigenfunctions of compact localization operators. Operators with symbols a in the wide modulation space M^{p,\infty} (containing the Lebesgue space L^p), p<\infty, and windows \f_1,\f_2 in the Schwartz class are known to be compact. We show that their L^2-eigenfuctions with non-zero eigenvalues are indeed highly compressed onto a few Gabor atoms. Similarly, for symbols a in the weighted modulation spaces M^{\infty}_{v_s\otimes 1} (\rdd), s>0 (subspaces of M^{p,\infty}(\rdd), p>2d/s) the L^2-eigenfunctions of the localization operator are actually Sc…
We illustrate the composition properties for an extended family of SG Fourier integral operators. We prove continuity results for operators in this class with respect to $L^2$ and weighted modulation spaces, and discuss continuity on $\mathscr{S}$, $\mathscr{S}^\prime$ and on weighted Sobolev spaces. We study mapping properties of global wave-front sets under the action of these Fourier integral operators. We extend classical results to more general situations. For example, there are no requirements of homogeneity for the phase functions. Finally, we apply our results to the study of of the pr…
Given a non-quasianalytic subadditive weight function $ω$ we consider the weighted Schwartz space $\mathcal{S}_ω$ and the short-time Fourier transform on $\mathcal{S}_ω$, $\mathcal{S}'_ω$ and on the related modulation spaces with exponential weights. In this setting we define the $ω$-wave front set $WF'_ω(u)$ and the Gabor $ω$-wave front set $WF^G_ω(u)$ of $u\in\mathcal{S}'_ω$, and we prove that they coincide. Finally we look at applications of this wave front set for operators of differential and pseudo-differential type.
We consider Scrödinger equations with real-valued smooth Hamiltonians, and non-smooth bounded pseudo-differential potentials, whose symbols may be not even differentiable. The well-posedness of the Cauchy problem is proved in the frame of the modulation spaces, and results of micro-local propagation of singularities are given in terms of Gabor wave front sets.
This work deals with Schrödinger equations with quadratic and sub-quadratic Hamiltonians perturbed by a potential. In particular we shall focus on bounded, but not necessarily smooth perturbations. We shall give a representation of such evolution as the composition of a metaplectic operator and a pseudodifferential operator having symbol in certain classes of modulation spaces. About propagation of singularities, we use a new notion of wave front set, which allows the expression of optimal results of propagation in our context. To support this claim, many comparisons with the existing literatu…
Strichartz estimates are a manifestation of a dispersion phenomenon, exhibited by certain partial differential equations, which is detected by suitable Lebesgue space norms. In most cases the evolution propagator $U(t)$ is a one parameter group of unitary operators. Motivated by the importance of decay estimates in group representation theory and ergodic theory, Strichartz-type estimates seem worth investigating when $U(t)$ is replaced by a unitary representation of a non-compact Lie group, the group element playing the role of time. Since the Schrödinger group is a subgroup of the metaplectc …
We perform Wigner analysis of linear operators. Namely, the standard time-frequency representation \emph{Short-time Fourier Transform} (STFT) is replaced by the $\mathcal{A}$-\emph{Wigner distribution} defined by $W_{\mathcal A} (f)=μ({\mathcal A})(f\otimes\bar{f})$, where ${\mathcal A}$ is a $4d\times 4d$ symplectic matrix and $μ({\mathcal A})$ is an associate metaplectic operator. Basic examples are given by the so-called $τ$-Wigner distributions. Such representations provide a new characterization for modulation spaces when $τ\in (0,1)$. Furthermore, they can be efficiently employed in the …
We present a wave packet analysis of a class of possibly degenerate parabolic equations with variable coefficients. As a consequence, we prove local wellposedness of the corresponding Cauchy problem in spaces of low regularity, namely the modulation spaces, assuming a nonlinearity of analytic type. As another application, we deduce that the corresponding phase space flow decreases the global wave front set. We also consider the action on spaces of analytic functions, provided the coefficients are analytic themselves.
