We study the elliptic genera of hyperKahler manifolds using the representation theory of N=4 superconformal algebra. We consider the decomposition of the elliptic genera in terms of N=4 irreducible characters, and derive the rate of increase of the multiplicities of half-BPS representations making use of Rademacher expansion. Exponential increase of the multiplicity suggests that we can associate the notion of an entropy to the geometry of hyperKahler manifolds. In the case of symmetric products of K3 surfaces our entropy agrees with the black hole entropy of D5-D1 system.
We use the representation theory of N=2 superconformal algebra to study the elliptic genera of Calabi-Yau (CY) D-folds. We compute the entropy of CY manifolds from the growth rate of multiplicities of the massive (non-BPS) representations in the decomposition of their elliptic genera. We find that the entropy of CY manifolds of complex dimension D behaves differently depending on whether D is even or odd. When D is odd, CY entropy coincides with the entropy of the corresponding hyperKahler (D-3)-folds due to a structural theorem on Jacobi forms. In particular, we find that the Calabi-Yau 3-fol…
Quaternion Kahler manifolds are known to be the target spaces for matter hypermultiplets coupled to N=2 supergravity. It is also known that there is a one-to-one correspondence between 4n-dimensional quaternion Kahler manifolds and those 4(n+1)-dimensional hyperkahler spaces which are the target spaces for rigid superconformal hypermultiplets (such spaces are called hyperkahler cones). In this paper we present a projective-superspace construction to generate a hyperkahler cone M^{4(n+1)}_H of dimension 4(n+1) from a 2n-dimensional real analytic Kahler-Hodge manifold M^{2n}_K. The latter emerge…
We study the entropy associated with the Janus interface in a 4$d$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theory. With the entropy defined as the interface contribution to an entanglement entropy we show, under mild assumptions, that the Janus interface entropy is proportional to the geometric quantity called Calabi's diastasis on the space of $\mathcal{N}=2$ marginal couplings, confirming an earlier conjecture by two of the authors and generalizing a similar result in two dimensions. Our method is based on a CFT consideration that makes use of the Casini-Huerta-Myers conformal map from the flat…
We obtain the enropy of Schwarzschild and charged black holes in D>4 from superconformal gases that live on p=10-D dimensional brane-antibrane systems wrapped on T^p. The preperties of the strongly coupled superconformal theories such as the appearance of hidden dimensions (for p=1,4) and fractional strings (for p=5) are crucial for our results. In all cases, the Schwarzschild radius is given by the transverse fluctuations of the branes and antibranes due to the finite temperature. We show that our results can be generalized to multicharged black holes.
A closed formula of the universal part of supersymmetric Rényi entropy $S_q$ for six-dimensional $(1,0)$ superconformal theories is proposed. Within our arguments, $S_q$ across a spherical entangling surface is a cubic polynomial of $ν=1/q$, with $4$ coefficients expressed as linear combinations of the 't Hooft anomaly coefficients for the $R$-symmetry and gravitational anomalies. As an application, we establish linear relations between the $c$-type Weyl anomalies and the 't Hooft anomaly coefficients. We make a conjecture relating the supersymmetric Rényi entropy to an equivariant integral of…
We investigate the holographic Rényi entropy for two-dimensional $\mathcal N=(2,2)$ superconformal field theory (SCFT), which is dual to $\mathcal N=2$ supergravity in AdS$_3$ background. In SCFT we have the stress tensor, current, and their supersymmetric partners, and in supergravity we have the graviton, vector field, and two gravitinos. We get the Rényi mutual information of two short intervals on complex plane in expansion by the cross ratio $x$ to order $x^4$, and Rényi entropy of one interval on torus in expansion by $q=\exp(-2πβ/L)$, with $β$ being the inverse temperature and $L$ being…
In this paper we investigate the holographic Rényi entropy in $\mathcal N=1$ supergravity (SUGRA) in AdS$_3$ spacetime, which is dual to the two-dimensional $\mathcal N=(1,1)$ superconformal field theory (SCFT). We consider both cases of two short intervals on a line with zero temperature and one interval on a circle with low temperature. In SUGRA side we consider contributions of both graviton and gravitino, and in SCFT side we consider contributions of both stress tensor $T$, $\bar T$ and their superpartners $G$, $\bar G$. We find matches between SUGRA and SCFT results.

We consider the superconformal index of three-dimensional ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric field theories computed via localization on $S^1\times S^2$. We systematically develop an expansion where the ratio of the radius of $S^1$ to the radius of $S^2$ is taken very small -- a Cardy-like expansion. We emphasize the sub-leading structures in this Cardy-like expansion as well as their interplay with the large-$N$ limit for theories with gauge group of the form product of $U(N)$ factors. We demonstrate that taking the large-$N$ limit first leads to an expression for the index that only includes terms …
The large $N$ limit of the four-dimensional superconformal index was computed and successfully compared to the entropy of a class of AdS$_5$ black holes only in the particular case of equal angular momenta. Using the Bethe Ansatz formulation, we compute the index at large $N$ with arbitrary chemical potentials for all charges and angular momenta, for general $\mathcal{N}=1$ four-dimensional conformal theories with a holographic dual. We conjecture and bring some evidence that a particular universal contribution to the sum over Bethe vacua dominates the index at large $N$. For $\mathcal{N}=4$ S…
Recently it has been conjectured that N=6, U(N)_{k} \times U(N)_{-k} Chern-Simons theory is dual to M-theory on AdS_4\times S^7/Z_{k}. By studying one-loop correction to the M-theory effective action, we calculate the correction to the entropy of thermal field theory at strong coupling. For large k level, we have also found the alpha' correction to the entropy from the string correction of the type IIA effective action. The structure of these two corrections at strong t'Hooft coupling are different.
The entropy of $1/16$-th BPS AdS$_5$ black holes can be microscopically accounted for by the superconformal index of the $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory. One way to compute this is through a Cardy-like limit of a formula for the index obtained in [1] using the "$S$-transformation" of the elliptic $Γ$ function. In this paper, we derive more general $SL(3,\mathbb{Z})$ modular properties of the elliptic $Γ$ function. We then use these properties to obtain a three integer parameter family of generalized Cardy-like limits of the $\mathcal{N}=4$ superconformal index. From these limits, we ob…
We compute the superconformal index of 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal theories obtained from $N$ M5-branes wrapped on a hyperbolic 3-manifold. Exploiting the 3d-3d correspondence, we use perturbative invariants of $SL(N,\mathbb{C})$ Chern-Simons theory to determine the superconformal index in the large $N$ limit, including corrections logarithmic in $N$. The leading order partition function provides a microscopic foundation for the entropy function of the dual rotating asymptotically AdS$_4$ black holes. We also verify that the supergravity one-loop contribution to the $\log N$ term coincid…
An information theoretic approach to bounds in superconformal field theories is proposed. It is proved that the supersymmetric Rényi entropy $\bar S_α$ is a monotonically decreasing function of $α$ and $(α-1)\bar S_α$ is a concave function of $α$. Under the assumption that the thermal entropy associated with the "replica trick" time circle is bounded from below by the charge at $α\to\infty$, it is further proved that both ${α-1\over α}\bar S_α$ and $(α-1)\bar S_α$ monotonically increase as functions of $α$. Because $\bar S_α$ enjoys universal relations with the Weyl anomaly coefficients in eve…
We investigate the asymptotic dynamics of topological anti-de Sitter supergravity in two dimensions. Starting from the formulation as a BF theory, it is shown that the AdS_2 boundary conditions imply that the asymptotic symmetries form a super-Virasoro algebra. Using the central charge of this algebra in Cardy's formula, we exactly reproduce the thermodynamical entropy of AdS_2 black holes. Furthermore, we show that the dynamics of the dilaton and its superpartner reduces to that of superconformal transformations that leave invariant one chiral component of the stress tensor supercurrent of a …
We evaluate the large-$N$ behavior of the superconformal indices of toric quiver gauge theories, and use it to find the entropy functions of the dual electrically charged rotating $\mathrm{AdS}_5$ black holes. To this end, we employ the recently proposed Bethe Ansatz method, and find a certain set of solutions to the Bethe Ansatz Equations of toric theories. This, in turn, allows us to compute the large-$N$ behavior of the index for these theories, including the infinite families $Y^{pq}$, $X^{pq}$ and $L^{pqr}$ of quiver gauge theories. Our results are in perfect agreement with the prediction…
We study the constraints of superconformal symmetry on codimension two defects in four-dimensional superconformal field theories. We show that the one-point function of the stress tensor and the two-point function of the displacement operator are related, and we discuss the consequences of this relation for the Weyl anomaly coefficients as well as in a few examples, including the supersymmetric Rényi entropy. Imposing consistency with existing results, we propose a general relation that could hold for sufficiently supersymmetric defects of arbitrary dimension and codimension. Turning to $\math…
We conjecture an equality between (1) the entropy associated with a Janus interface in a 4d N=2 superconformal field theory and (2) Calabi's diastasis, a particular combination of analytically continued Kahler potentials, on the conformal manifold (moduli space) of the 4d theory.
We consider 3d N>= 2 superconformal field theories on a branched covering of a three-sphere. The Renyi entropy of a CFT is given by the partition function on this space, but conical singularities break the supersymmetry preserved in the bulk. We turn on a compensating R-symmetry gauge field and compute the partition function using localization. We define a supersymmetric observable, called the super Renyi entropy, parametrized by a real number q. We show that the super Renyi entropy is duality invariant and reduces to entanglement entropy in the q -> 1 limit. We provide some examples.

We present a detailed study of the Entanglement Entropy (EE) of excited states in all closed rank one subsectors of N=4 SYM, namely SU(2), SU(1|1) and SL(2). Exploiting the techniques of the Coordinate and the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz we obtain the EE for spin chains with up to seven magnons, at leading order in the coupling expansion but exact in the length of the spin chain and of the part of it that we cut. Focusing on the superconformal primary operator with two magnons in the BMN limit, we derive analytic and exact, in the coupling $λ'$, expressions for the Renyi and the EE. The interpolati…
