Neutrino physics is now poised to move into the precision regime. Active attempts are under way to commence the era of precision neutrino measurement science which will surely widen the horizon of our knowledge about neutrinos. A number of high-precision neutrino oscillation experiments have been contrived to sharpen our understanding about these tiny particles. This is the right time to ask how different planned/proposed next generation experiments in the coming decades would perform to explicate the nature of neutrinos and our thrust for new physics. This thesis is an effort to have a look on several aspects of these issues.
We consider a scenario with unitary mixing of the three light standard neutrinos and a non-unitary mixing contribution of a heavier massive neutrino that can generate short-baseline neutrino oscillations. We show that this scenario predicts constant flavor-changing probabilities at short-baseline distances. Therefore, it cannot explain the spectral distortions observed in the LSND and MiniBooNE appearance experiments. On the other hand, the survival probabilities oscillate as functions of $L/E$ and could explain oscillations in short-baseline disappearance experiments. We also derive the bound…
The current status of the phenomenology of short-baseline neutrino oscillations induced by light sterile neutrinos in the framework of 3+1 mixing is reviewed.
We perform realistic simulations of the current and future long baseline experiments such as T2K, NO$ν$A, DUNE and T2HK in order to determine their ultimate potential in probing neutrino oscillation parameters. We quantify the potential of these experiments to underpin the octant of the atmospheric angle $θ_{23}$ as well as the value and sign of the CP phase $δ_{CP}$.
This brief report is an extension of a prediction of neutrino oscillation with a sterile neutrino using parameters of the sterile neutrino mass and mixing angle recently extracted from experiment.
In this paper we rewrite the neutrino mixing angles and mass squared differences in matter given, in our original paper, in a notation that is more conventional for the reader. Replacing the usual neutrino mixing angles and mass squared differences in the expressions for the vacuum oscillation probabilities with these matter mixing angles and mass squared differences gives an excellent approximation to the oscillation probabilities in matter. Comparisons for T2K, NOvA, T2HKK and DUNE are also given for neutrinos and anti-neutrinos, disappearance and appearance channels, normal ordering and inv…
We present a deep study of the Neutrino-4 data aimed at finding the statistical significance of the large-mixing short-baseline neutrino oscillation signal claimed by the Neutrino-4 collaboration at more than $3σ$. We found that the results of the Neutrino-4 collaboration can be reproduced approximately only by neglecting the effects of the energy resolution of the detector. Including these effects, we found that the best fit is obtained for a mixing that is even larger, close to maximal, but the statistical significance of the short-baseline neutrino oscillation signal is only about $2.7σ$ if…
Neutrino oscillations are well established and the relevant parameters determined with good precision, except for the CP phase, in terms of a unitary lepton mixing matrix. Seesaw extensions of the Standard Model predict unitarity deviations due to the admixture of heavy isosinglet neutrinos. We provide a complete description of the unitarity and universality deviations in the light neutrino sector. Neutrino oscillation experiments involving electron or muon neutrinos and anti-neutrinos are fully described in terms of just three new real parameters and a new CP phase, in addition to the ones de…

If massive neutrinos are Majorana particles, then the lepton number should be violated and neutrino-antineutrino oscillations will take place. In this talk, we present the properties of CP violation in neutrino-antineutrino oscillations with a non-unitary leptonic flavor mixing matrix, which naturally arises in the type-I seesaw model due to the mixing between light and heavy Majorana neutrinos. Taking into account current experimental bounds on the leptonic unitarity violation, we show that the CP asymmetries induced by the non-unitary mixing parameters can significantly deviate from those in…
Observed reactor and atmospheric neutrino oscillation mixing values appear to be related to the neutrino scale ratio $\sqrt{Δm^2_{sol}/Δ^2_{ATM}}$ in a way that suggest that the neutrino mass matrix can be expanded as a power series by using this ratio as the smallness parameter. This approach provides a simple and natural way to expose the inner hierarchies among neutrino mass terms, which amounts to also explain the solar oscillation mixing as well as solar oscillation scale. We explore a class of mass matrix textures that realize this scenario, for both normal and inverted neutrino mass hie…
