Femtoscopy measures space-time characteristics of the particle emitting source created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. It is argued that collective behavior of matter (radial flow) produces specific femtoscopic signatures. The one that is best known, the m_T dependence of the pion ``HBT radii'', can be explained by the alternative scenario of temperature gradients in an initial state thermal model. We identify others that can invalidate such alternatives, such as non-identical particle correlations and m_T scaling for particles of higher mass. Studies with a simple rescattering code show that as the interaction cross-section is increased the system develops collective behavior and becomes more thermalized at the same time, the two effects being the natural consequence of increased number of particle rescatterings. Repeating calculations with a more realistic rescattering model confirmed all of these conclusions and provided deeper insight into the mechanisms of collectivity buildup, showing a preference for a thermal model with uniform temperature.
Hydrodynamic simulations are used to calculate the identical pion HBT radii, as a function of the pair momentum $k_{\rm T}$. This dependence is sensitive to the magnitude of the collective radial flow in the transverse plane, and thus comparison to ALICE data enables us to derive its magnitude. By using hydro solutions with variable initial parameters we conclude that in this case fireball explosions start with a very small initial size, well below 1 ${\rm fm}$.

Femtoscopy is providing information on system size and its dynamics in heavy-ion collisions. At ultra-relativistic energies, such as those obtained at the LHC, significant production of pions, kaons and protons enables femtoscopic measurements for these particles. In particular the dependence of system size on pair momentum and particle type is interpreted as evidence for strong collective flow. Such phenomena are naturally modeled by hydrodynamics. We present calculations within the 3+1D hydrodynamic model coupled to statistical hadronization code THERMINATOR 2, corresponding to Pb--Pb collis…
Non-identical particle femtoscopy measures the size of the system emitting particles ("radius") in heavy-ion collisions as well as the difference between mean emission space-time coordinates of two particle species ("emission asymmetry"). The system created in such collisions at the LHC behaves collectively and its dynamics is well described by hydrodynamic models. A significant emission asymmetry between pions and kaons, coming from collective flow, enhanced by contribution from flowing resonances is predicted. We present calculations within the (3+1)D viscous hydrodynamic model coupled to st…
We perform 3+1D viscous hydrodynamics calculations of proton-nucleus (pA) and nucleus-nucleus (AA) collisions. Our goal is to understand the apparent collective behavior recently observed in pA collisions and to verify whether the highest multiplicity collision systems can be accurately described as a relativistic fluid. We compare our calculations of flow variables to existing measurements, and demonstrate that hydrodynamics correctly captures the measured trends. We show that our predictions for the pair correlation observable $r_n$ are validated by recent experimental pA measurements, and t…
Proton-proton (pp) data show collective effects, such as long-range azimuthal correlations and strangeness enhancement, which are similar to phenomenology observed in heavy ion collisions. Using simulations with and without explicit existing models of collective effects, we explore new ways to probe pp collisions at high multiplicity, in order to suggest measurements that could help identify the similarities and differences between large- and small-scale collective effects. In particular, we focus on the properties of jets produced in ultra-central pp collisions in association with a Z boson. …

The properties of the $X(3872)$ and its spin partner, the $X(4014)$, are studied both in vacuum and at finite temperature. Using an effective hadron theory based on the hidden-gauge Lagrangian, the $X(3872)$ is dynamically generated from the $s$-wave rescattering of a pair of pseudoscalar and vector charm mesons. By incorporating the thermal spectral functions of open charm mesons, the calculation is extended to finite temperature. Similarly, the properties of the $X(4014)$ are obtained out of the scattering of charm vector mesons. By applying heavy-quark flavor symmetry, the properties of the…

Correlation femtoscopy allows one to measure the space-time characteristics of particle production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions due to the effects of quantum statistics (QS) and final state interactions (FSI). The main features of the femtoscopy measurements at top RHIC and LHC energies are considered as a manifestation of strong collective flow and are well interpreted within hydrodynamic models employing equation of state (EoS) with a crossover type transition between Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) and hadron gas phases. The femtoscopy at lower energies was intensively studied at AGS and S…
Spectroscopic properties that characterize the shape phase transitions in krypton isotopes with the mass $A\approx80$ region are investigated within the framework of the nuclear density functional theory. Triaxial quadrupole constrained self-consistent mean-field calculations that employ relativistic energy density functionals and a pairing interaction are carried out for the even-even nuclei $^{76-86}$Kr. The spectroscopic properties are computed by solving the triaxial quadrupole collective Hamiltonian, with the ingredients, i.e., the deformation-dependent moments of inertia and mass paramet…
Recent work has shown that a temperature dependence of the shear viscosity to entropy ratio, $η/s$, influences the collective flow pattern in heavy-ion collisions in characteristic ways that can be measured by studying hadron transverse momentum spectra and their anisotropies. Here we point out that it also affects the pair momentum dependence of the Hanbury-Brown$-$Twiss (HBT) radii (the source size parameters extracted from two-particle intensity interferometry) and the variance of their event-by-event fluctuations. This observation establishes interferometric signatures as useful observable…
Flow signatures in experimental data from relativistic ion collisions are usually interpreted as a fingerprint of the presence of a hydrodynamic phase during the evolution of these systems. In this work, flow signatures arising from event-by-event viscous hydrodynamics are compared to those arising from event-by-event non-interacting particle dynamics (free-streaming), both followed by a late-stage hadronic cascade, in d+Au, 3He+Au at sqrt(s)=200 GeV and p+Pb collisions at sqrt(s)=5 TeV, respectively. For comparison, also Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt(s)=2.76 TeV are simulated. It is found that non…
The triangular flow in ultrarelativistic $^3$He-Au collisions at RHIC energies is enhanced due to the triangular arrangement of the nucleon configurations in $^3$He. We study the fireball eccentricities in the Glauber Monte Carlo model and find that since the configurations of the projectile $^3$He are elongated triangles, the created fireball has a large ellipticity and a smaller triangularity. The dependence of the triangularity on centrality is weak, so it cannot be extracted from the centrality dependence of the triangular flow $v_3$, as it is dominated by the centrality dependence of the …
