Spin polarized states in neutron matter at a strong magnetic field are considered in the model with the Skyrme effective interaction (SLy4, SLy7 parametrizations). Analyzing the self-consistent equations at zero temperature, it is shown that a thermodynamically stable branch of solutions for the spin polarization parameter as a function of density corresponds to the negative spin polarization when the majority of neutron spins are oriented oppositely to the direction of the magnetic field. Besides, beginning from some threshold density being dependent on the magnetic field strength the self-consistent equations have also two other branches (upper and lower) of solutions for the spin polarization parameter with the positive spin polarization.
The free energy corresponding to the upper branch turns out to be very close to the free energy corresponding to the thermodynamically preferable branch with the negative spin polarization. As a consequence, at a strong magnetic field, the state with the positive spin polarization can be realized as a metastable state at the high density region in neutron matter which under decreasing density at some threshold density changes into a thermodynamically stable state with the negative spin polarization. The calculations of the neutron spin polarization parameter and energy per neutron as functions of the magnetic field strength show that the influence of the magnetic field remains small at the field strengths up to $10^{17}$ G.
Three-nucleon force effects in polarization transfers from the doubly spin-polarized initial neutron-deuteron state to the outgoing neutron in neutron-deuteron scattering
The interior of a neutron star is expected to be occupied by a neutron $^3P_2$ superfluid, which is the condensate of spin-triplet $p$-wave Cooper pairs of neutrons with total angular momentum $J=2$. Here we investigate the thermodynamic stability of $^3P_2$ superfluids in a neutron-star interior under a strong magnetic field. Using the theory incorporating the finite size correction of neutron Fermi surface, we show that the spin-polarized phases of $^3P_2$ superfluids, the magnetized biaxial nematic phase and the ferromagnetic phase, appear in high temperatures and high magnetic fields. Thes…
A standard method to detect thermal neutrons is the nuclear interaction $^3$He(n,p)$^3$H. The spin-dependence of this interaction is also the basis of a neutron spin-polarization filter using nuclear polarized $^3$He. We consider the corresponding interaction for neutrons placed in an intrinsic orbital angular momentum (OAM) state. We derive the relative polarization-dependent absorption cross-sections for neutrons in an $L=1$ OAM state. The absorption of those neutrons results in compound states $J^π=0^-$, $1^-$, and $2^-$. Varying the three available polarizations tests that an OAM neutron h…
Large single transverse spin asymmetry for forward neutrons in ultraperipheral polarized proton-nucleus collisions in explanation of measurements at RHIC-PHENIX
Equation of states (EOS) of the spin-polarized nuclear matter (NM) is studied within the Hartree-Fock (HF) formalism using the realistic density dependent nucleon-nucleon interaction. With a nonzero fraction $Δ$ of spin-polarized baryons in NM, the spin- and spin-isospin dependent parts of the HF energy density give rise to the \emph{spin symmetry} energy that behaves in about the same manner as the \emph{isospin symmetry} energy, widely discussed in literature as the nuclear symmetry energy. The present HF study shows a strong correlation between the spin symmetry energy and nuclear symmetry …
Background: DIS on the polarized deuteron with detection of a proton in the nuclear breakup region (spectator tagging) represents a unique method for extracting the neutron spin structure functions and studying nuclear modifications. The tagged proton momentum controls the nuclear configuration during the DIS process and enables a differential analysis of nuclear effects. Such measurements could be performed with the future electron-ion collider (EIC) and forward proton detectors if deuteron beam polarization could be achieved. Purpose: Develop theoretical framework for polarized deuteron DIS …

We report a measurement of two energy-weighted gamma cascade angular distributions from polarized slow neutron capture on the ${}^{35}$Cl nucleus, one parity-odd correlation proportional to $\vec{s_{n}} \cdot \vec{k_γ}$ and one parity-even correlation proportional to $\vec{s_{n}} \cdot \vec{k_{n}} \times \vec{k_γ}$. A parity violating asymmetry can appear in this reaction due to the weak nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction which mixes opposite parity S and P-wave levels in the excited compound $^{36}$Cl nucleus formed upon slow neutron capture. If parity-violating (PV) and parity-conserving (PC) …
