Let $K$ be a field. We characterise the row-finite weighted graphs $(E,w)$ such that the weighted Leavitt path algebra $L_K(E,w)$ is isomorphic to an unweighted Leavitt path algebra. In this introductory level survey, we will be giving an overview of different types of ideals and the correspondence between the lattice of ideals and the lattice of hereditary and saturated subsets of the graph over which the Leavitt path algebra is constructed.
The primary purpose of this thesis is to show every ultragraph Leavitt path algebra is Morita equivalent, as a ring, to a graph Leavitt path algebra. Takeshi Katsura, Paul Muhly, Aidan Sims, and Mark Tomforde showed every ultragraph $C^{*}$-algebra is Morita equivalent, in the $C^{*}$-sense, to a graph $C^{*}$-algebra; our result is an algebraic analog of this fact. Our main result is that any two-sided ideal $I$ of a Leavitt path algebra associated with a row-finite graph is generated by elements of the form $v + \sum_{i=1}^nλ_i g^i$, where $g$ is a cycle based at vertex $v$. We study the center of several types of path algebras. We start with the path algebra $KE$ and prove that if the number of vertices is infinite then the center is zero. Otherwise, it coincides with the field $K$ except when the graph $E$ is a cycle in which case the center is $K[x]$, the polynomial algebra in one indeterminate. Then we compute the centers of prime Cohn and Leavitt path algebras.
