- In this paper a session based symmetric key encryption system has been proposed and is termed as Permutated Cipher Technique (PCT). This technique is more fast, suitable and secure for larger files. In this technique the input file is broken down into blocks of various sizes (of 2 power n order) and encrypted by shifting the position of each bit by a certain value for a certain number of times. A key is generated randomly wherein the length of each block is determined. Each block length generates a unique value of number of bits to be skipped. This value determines the new position of the bits within the block that are to be shifted. After the shifting and inverting each block is XORed with SHA 512 digest of the key. The resultant blocks from the cipher text. The key is generated according to the binary value of the input file size. Decryption is done following the same process as the technique is symmetric.
Distributed network of the computer and the design defects of the TCP protocol are given to the network attack to be multiplicative. Based on the simple and open assumptions of the TCP protocol in academic and collaborative communication environments, the protocol lacks secure authentication. In this paper, by adding RSA-based cryptography technology, RSA-based signature technology, DH key exchange algorithm, and HAMC-SHA1 integrity verification technology to the TCP protocol, and propose a security strategy which can effectively defend against TCP session hijacking.
Nowadays, the dataflux shared between IOT systems must be secured from 8-bits to 64-bits processors systems. Several symmetric cryptographic algorithm already exist such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), RC4, Blowfish, etc. In this work, we propose an 8-bits encryption algorithm, combining several ideas of standard symmetric encryption algorithms. The aim is to provide a efficient, modular and compact algorithm able to tend to truly random one-time-pad encryption quality even for large data flux. The algorithm combines the implementation of a divergent polynomial with variable coefficient…
Cryptography is always very important in data origin authentications, entity authentication, data integrity and confidentiality. In recent years, a variety of chaotic cryptographic schemes have been proposed. These schemes have typical structure which performed the permutation and the diffusion stages, alternatively. The random number generators are intransitive in cryptographic schemes and be used in the diffusion functions of the image encryption for diffused pixels of plain image. In this paper, we propose a chaotic encryption scheme based on pseudorandom bit padding that the bits be genera…
Cryptography protects users by providing functionality for the encryption of data and authentication of other users. This technology lets the receiver of an electronic message verify the sender, ensures that a message can be read only by the intended person, and assures the recipient that a message has not be altered in transit. Classical cryptanalysis involves an interesting combination of analytical reasoning, application of mathematical tools and pattern finding. The objectives of the proposed work are to propose a new cryptographic method based on the special matrix called the Hilbert matr…
Proportional to the growth in the usage of Human Sensor Networks (HSN), the volume of the data exchange between Sensor devices is increasing at a rapid pace. In this paper, we have proposed an Energy Efficient Lightweight Encryption (EELWE) algorithm for providing the confidentiality of data at the sensor level, particularly suitable for resource-constrained environments. Results obtained have proved that an EELWE consumes less energy relative to present lightweight ciphers and it supports multiple block sizes of 32-bit, 48-bit, and 64-bit.
When I was smaller, a five megabyte fixed disk cost $5,000, a 300 bps modem cost hundreds of dollars, and communication links were intercepted by attaching devices to the target subscriber's local loop. From then to now there have been three great implosions: the cost of storage, the cost of bandwidth, and the cost of surveillance. The wake of the first two implosions sheared away most obstacles to using one-time pads to encrypt data in flight, and the final imposition -- I mean implosion -- now makes consideration of one-time pads a practical necessity. So far as assurance of confidentiality …
The dramatic increase of data breaches in modern computing platforms has emphasized that access control is not sufficient to protect sensitive user data. Recent advances in cryptography allow end-to-end processing of encrypted data without the need for decryption using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). Such computation however, is still orders of magnitude slower than direct (unencrypted) computation. Depending on the underlying cryptographic scheme, FHE schemes can work natively either at bit-level using Boolean circuits, or over integers using modular arithmetic. Operations on integers are…
We propose a bit-oriented quantum public-key scheme which uses Boolean function as private-key and randomly changed pairs of quantum state and classical string as public-keys. Contrast to the typical classical public-key scheme, one private-key in our scheme corresponds to an exponential number of public-keys. The goal of our scheme is to achieve information-theoretic security, and the security analysis is also given.
There are several methods to measure computing power. On the other hand, Bit Length (BL) can be considered a metric to measure the strength of an asymmetric encryption method. We review here ways to determine the security, given an span of time, of a factoring-based encryption method, such as RSA, by establishing a relation between the processing power needed to break a given encryption and the given bit length used in the encryption. This relation would help us provide an estimation of the time span that an encryption method for a given BL will be secure from attacks.
Triple DES (3DES) is a standard fundamental encryption algorithm, used in several electronic payment applications and web browsers. In this paper, we propose a parallel implementation of 3DES on GPU. Since 3DES encrypts data with 64-bit blocks, our approach considers each 64-bit block a kernel block and assign a separate thread to process each bit. Algorithm's permutation operations, XOR operations, and S-box operations are done in parallel within these kernel blocks. The implementation benefits from the use of constant and shared memory types to optimize memory access. The results show an ave…
In this paper, a new image encryption scheme using a secret key of 144-bits is proposed. In the substitution process of the scheme, image is divided into blocks and subsequently into color components. Each color component is modified by performing bitwise operation which depends on secret key as well as a few most significant bits of its previous and next color component. Three rounds are taken to complete substitution process. To make cipher more robust, a feedback mechanism is also applied by modifying used secret key after encrypting each block. Further, resultant image is partitioned into …
Substitution Box or S-Box had been generated using 4-bit Boolean Functions (BFs) for Encryption and Decryption Algorithm of Lucifer and Data Encryption Standard (DES) in late sixties and late seventies respectively. The S-box of Advance Encryption Standard have also been generated using Irreducible Polynomials over Galois field GF(2^8) adding an additive constant in early twenty first century. In this paper Substitution Boxes have been generated from Irreducible or Reducible Polynomials over Galois field GF(p^q). Binary Galois fields have been used to generate Substitution Boxes. Since the Gal…
We show how any party can encrypt data for an e-passport holder such that only with physical possession of the e-passport decryption is possible. The same is possible for electronic identity cards and driver licenses. We also indicate possible applications. Dutch passports allow for 160 bit security, theoretically giving sufficient security beyond the year 2079, exceeding current good practice of 128 bit security. We also introduce the notion of RDE Extraction PIN which effectively provides the same security as a regular PIN. Our results ironically suggest that carrying a passport when traveli…
Unclonable encryption, first introduced by Broadbent and Lord (TQC'20), is a one-time encryption scheme with the following security guarantee: any non-local adversary (A, B, C) cannot simultaneously distinguish encryptions of two equal length messages. This notion is termed as unclonable indistinguishability. Prior works focused on achieving a weaker notion of unclonable encryption, where we required that any non-local adversary (A, B, C) cannot simultaneously recover the entire message m. Seemingly innocuous, understanding the feasibility of encryption schemes satisfying unclonable indistingu…
In this paper, we propose a session based bit level symmetric key cryptographic technique and it is termed as Spiral Matrix Based Bit Orientation Technique (SMBBOT). SMBBOT consider the input plain text as binary bit stream. During encryption this stream is chopped into manageable sized blocks with variable lengths. Bits of these blocks are taken from MSB to LSB to fit into a square matrix of suitable order following the concept of Spiral matrix. This square matrix splits into 2x2 sub-matrices. Bits are taken column-wise from all 2x2 sub-matrices to form the encrypted binary string. Cipher tex…
This paper re-evaluates the security of a chaotic image encryption algorithm called MCKBA/HCKBA and finds that it can be broken efficiently with two known plain-images and the corresponding cipher-images. In addition, it is reported that a previously proposed breaking on MCKBA/HCKBA can be further improved by reducing the number of chosen plain-images from four to two. The two attacks are both based on the properties of solving a composite function involving the carry bit, which is composed of the modulo addition and the bitwise OR operations. Both rigorous theoretical analysis and detailed ex…
We propose a multi-bit leveled fully homomorphic encryption scheme using multivariate polynomial evaluations. The security of the scheme depends on the hardness of the Learning with Errors (LWE) problem. For homomorphic multiplication, the scheme uses a polynomial based technique that does not require relinearization (and key switching). The noise associated with the ciphertext increases only linearly with every multiplication.
In this paper, we present a new identity-based encryption (IBE) scheme using bilinear pairings. Our IBE scheme enjoys the same \textsf{Key Extraction} and \textsf{Decryption} algorithms with the famous IBE scheme of Boneh and Franklin (BF-IBE for short), while differs from the latter in that it has modified \textsf{Setup} and \textsf{Encryption} algorithms. Compared with BF-IBE, we show that ours are more practical in a multiple private key generator (PKG) environment, mainly due to that the session secret $g_{ID}$ could be pre-computed \emph{before} any interaction, and the sender could encry…
In modern cryptography, block encryption is a fundamental cryptographic primitive. However, it is impossible for block encryption to achieve the same security as one-time pad. Quantum mechanics has changed the modern cryptography, and lots of researches have shown that quantum cryptography can outperform the limitation of traditional cryptography. This article proposes a new constructive mode for private quantum encryption, named $\mathcal{EHE}$, which is a very simple method to construct quantum encryption from classical primitive. Based on $\mathcal{EHE}$ mode, we construct a quantum block e…
The technique considers a message as binary string on which a Efficient Cryptographic Protocol using Recursive Bitwise amd pairs of Bits of operation (RBPBO) is performed. A block of n bits is taken as an input stream, where n varies from 4 to 256, from a continuous stream of bits and the technique operates on it to generate the intermediate encrypted stream. This technique directly involves all the bits of blocks in a boolean operation and a session key. The same operation is performed repeatedly for different block sizes as per the specification of a session key to generate the final encrypt…
Lightweight block ciphers have been widely used in applications such as RFID tags, IoTs, and network sensors. Among them, with comparable parameters, the Light Encryption Device (LED) block cipher achieves the smallest area. However, implementation of encryption algorithms manifest side-channel leakage, therefore, it is crucial to protect their design against side-channel analyses. In this paper, we present a threshold implementation of the LED cipher which has 64-bit data input and 128-bit key. The presented design splits secret information among multiple shares to achieve a higher security l…
This document describes the symmetric encryption algorithm called Puzzle. It is free and open. The objective of this paper is to get an opinion about its security from the cryptology community. It is separated in two parts, a technical description of the algorithm and its cryptanalysis. The algorithm has some interesting properties : The block size is variable and unknown from an attacker. The size of the key has no limit and is unknown from an attacker. The key size does not affect the algorithm speed (using a 256 bit key is the same as using a 1024 bit key). The algorithm is much faster than…
In order to prevent eavesdropping and tampering, the network security protocols use a handshake with an asymmetric cipher to establish a session-specific shared key with which further communication is encrypted using a symmetric cipher. The commonly used asymmetric algorithms include public key encryption, key exchange and identity-based encryption(IBE). However, the network security protocols based on classic identity-based encryption do not have perfect forward security. To solve the problem, we construct the first quantum IBE (QIBE) scheme based on the learning with errors problem, and prov…
In this paper, we present a variant of Waters' Identity-Based Encryption scheme with a much smaller public-key size (only a few kilobytes). We show that this variant is semantically secure against passive adversaries in the standard model.\smallskip In essence, the new scheme divides Waters' public key size by a factor $\ell$ at the cost of (negligibly) reducing security by $\ell$ bits. Therefore, our construction settles an open question asked by Waters and constitutes the first fully secure {\sl practical} Identity-Based Encryption scheme
This paper presents modifications of the Diffie-Hellman (DH) key exchange method. The presented modifications provide better security than other key exchange methods. We are going to present a dynamic security that simultaneously realizes all the three functions with a high efficiency and then give a security analysis. It also presents secure and dynamic key exchange method. Signature, encryption and key exchange are some of the most important and foundational Crypto-graphical tools. In most cases, they are all needed to provide different secure functions. On the other hand, there are also som…
Simeck, a lightweight block cipher has been proposed to be one of the encryption that can be employed in the Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Therefore, this paper presents the security of the Simeck32/64 block cipher against side-channel cube attack. We exhibit our attack against Simeck32/64 using the Hamming weight leakage assumption to extract linearly independent equations in key bits. We have been able to find 32 linearly independent equations in 32 key variables by only considering the second bit from the LSB of the Hamming weight leakage of the internal state on the fourth round o…
In order to protect the security of network data, a high speed chip module for encrypting and decrypting of network data packet is designed. The chip module is oriented for internet information security SOC (System on Chip) design. During the design process, AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and 3DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption algorithm are adopted to protect the security of network data. The following points are focused: (1) The SOC (System on Chip) design methodology based on IP (Intellectual Property) core is used. AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and 3DES (Data Encryption Sta…
Recent years have shown that more than ever governments and intelligence agencies try to control and bypass the cryptographic means used for the protection of data. Backdooring encryption algorithms is considered as the best way to enforce cryptographic control. Until now, only implementation backdoors (at the protocol/implementation/management level) are generally considered. In this paper we propose to address the most critical issue of backdoors: mathematical backdoors or by-design backdoors, which are put directly at the mathematical design of the encryption algorithm. While the algorithm …
We define a pseudorandom function (PRF) $F: \mathcal{K} \times \mathcal{X} \rightarrow \mathcal{Y}$ to be bi-homomorphic when it is fully Key homomorphic and partially Input Homomorphic (KIH), i.e., given $F(k_1, x_1)$ and $F(k_2, x_2)$, there is an efficient algorithm to compute $F(k_1 \oplus k_2, x_1 \ominus x_2)$, where $\oplus$ and $\ominus$ are (binary) group operations. The homomorphism on the input is restricted to a fixed subset of the input bits, i.e., $\ominus$ operates on some pre-decided $m$-out-of-$n$ bits, where $|x_1| = |x_2| = n$, and the remaining $n-m$ bits are identical in b…
In this paper the author presents a new cryptographic technique to exclude the repetitive terms in a message, when it is to be encrypted, so that it becomes almost impossible for a person to retrieve or predict the original message from the encrypted message. In modern world, cryptography hackers try to break a code or cryptographic algorithm or try to retrieve the key, which is needed to encrypt a message, by analyzing the insertion or presence of repetitive bits / characters (bytes) in the message and encrypted message to find out the encryption algorithm or the key used for it. So it is mus…
Since fully homomorphic encryption and homomorphically encrypted computing preserve algebraic identities such as 2*2=2+2, a natural question is whether this extremely utilitarian feature also sets up cryptographic attacks that use the encrypted arithmetic operators to generate or identify the encryptions of known constants. In particular, software or hardware might use encrypted addition and multiplication to do encrypted division and deliver the encryption of x/x=1. That can then be used to generate 1+1=2, etc, until a complete codebook is obtained. This paper shows that there is no formula o…
Considering the prospects of public key embedding (PKE) mechanism in active forensics on the integrity or identity of ciphertext for distributed deep learning security, two reversible data hiding in encrypted domain (RDH-ED) algorithms with PKE mechanism are proposed, in which all the elements of the embedding function shall be open to the public, while the extraction function could be performed only by legitimate users. The first algorithm is difference expansion in single bit encrypted domain (DE-SBED), which is optimized from the homomorphic embedding framework based on the bit operations o…
This paper presents the hardware design and analysis of ACE and WAGE, two candidate ciphers for the NIST Lightweight Cryptography standardization. Both ciphers use sLiSCP's unified sponge duplex mode. ACE has an internal state of 320 bits, uses three 64 bit Simeck boxes, and implements both authenticated encryption and hashing. WAGE is based on the Welch-Gong stream cipher and provides authenticated encryption. WAGE has 259 bits of state, two 7 bit Welch-Gong permutations, and four lightweight 7 bit S-boxes. ACE and WAGE have the same external interface and follow the same I/O protocol to tran…
Database users have started moving toward the use of cloud computing as a service because it provides computation and storage needs at affordable prices. However, for most of the users, the concern of privacy plays a major role as they cannot control data access once their data are outsourced, especially if the cloud provider is curious about their data. Data encryption is an effective way to solve privacy concerns, but executing queries over encrypted data is a problem that needs attention. In this research, we introduce a bit-based model to execute different relational algebra operators over…
The Internet of Things (IoT) being a promising technology of the future is expected to connect billions of devices. The increased number of communication is expected to generate mountains of data and the security of data can be a threat. The devices in the architecture are essentially smaller in size and low powered. Conventional encryption algorithms are generally computationally expensive due to their complexity and requires many rounds to encrypt, essentially wasting the constrained energy of the gadgets. Less complex algorithm, however, may compromise the desired integrity. In this paper w…
We present a new quasigroup based block encryption system with and without cipher-block-chaining. We compare its performance against Advanced Encryption Standard-256 (AES256) bit algorithm using the NIST statistical test suite (NIST-STS) that tests for randomness of a sequence. Since it is well known that a good encryption algorithm must destroy any statistical properties of the input sequence and produce an output close to a true random sequence, the NIST-STS suite results provide a good test bench. In almost all tests from the suite the proposed algorithm performs better than AES256.
Privacy-preserving applications allow users to perform on-line daily actions without leaking sensitive information. Privacy-preserving scalar product is one of the critical algorithms in many private applications. The state-of-the-art privacy-preserving scalar product schemes use either computationally intensive homomorphic (public-key) encryption techniques such as Paillier encryption to achieve strong security (i.e., 128-bit) or random masking technique to achieve high efficiency for low security. In this paper, lattice structures have been exploited to develop an efficient privacy-preservin…
We present three simple and efficient protocol constructions to solve Yao's Millionaire Problem when the parties involved are non-colluding and semi-honest. The first construction uses a partially homomorphic Encryption Scheme and is a 4-round scheme using 2 encryptions, 2 homomorphic circuit evaluations (subtraction and XOR) and a single decryption. The second construction uses an untrusted third party and achieves a communication overhead linear in input bit-size with the help of an order preserving function. Moreover, the second construction does not require an apriori input bound and can wo…
Multimedia information availability has increased dramatically with the advent of mobile devices. but with this availability comes problems of maintaining the security of information that is displayed in public. Many approaches have been used or proposed for providing security for information dissemination over networks, protection system classified with more specific as encryption information, and combination between video compression and encryption to increase information security. The strength of the combination between Video compression and encryption science is due to the nonexistence of …
The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm is a symmetric block cipher which operates on a sequence of blocks each consists of 128, 192 or 256 bits. Moreover, the cipher key for the AES algorithm is a sequence of 128, 192 or 256 bits. AES algorithm has many sources of parallelism. In this paper, a design of parallel AES on the multiprocessor platform is presented. While most of the previous designs either use pipelined parallelization or take advantage of the Mix_Column parallelization, our design is based on combining pipelining of rounds and parallelization of Mix_Column and Add_Round_…
