We investigate perturbations of the Schwarzschild geometry using a linearization of the Einstein vacuum equations within a Bondi-Sachs, or null cone, formalism. We develop a numerical method to calculate the quasi-normal modes, and present results for the case $\ell=2$. The values obtained are different to those of a Schwarzschild black hole, and we interpret them as quasi-normal modes of a Schwarzschild white hole.
Matching Radial Geodesics in Two Schwarzschild Spacetimes (e.g. Black-to-White Hole Transition) or Schwarzschild and de Sitter Spacetimes (e.g. Interior of a Non-singular Black Hole)
Various properties of acoustic black holes constructed in Minkowski spacetime have been widely studied in the past decades. Recently the acoustic black holes in general spacetime were proposed . In this paper, we first investigate the basic characteristics of `curved' acoustic black hole in Schwarzschild spacetime, including the quasi-normal modes, grey-body factor and analogous Hawking radiation. We find that the signal of quasi-normal mode is weaker than that of Schwarzschild black hole. Moreover, as the tuning parameter increases, both the positive real part and negative imaginal part of th…
Gravitational radiation from radial infall of a particle into a Schwarzschild black hole. A numerical study of the spectra, quasi-normal modes and power-law tails
Maggiore observed that, in the high-damping regime, the quasi-normal modes spectrum for the Schwarzschild black hole resembles that of a quantum harmonic oscillator. Motivated by this observation, we describe a black hole as a statistical ensemble of N quantum harmonic oscillators. By working in the canonical ensemble, we show that, in the large-mass black hole limit, the leading contribution to the Gibbs entropy is the Bekenstein-Hawking term, while the subleading one is a logarithmic correction, in agreement with several results in the literature. We also find that the number of oscillators …
The Painleve-Gullstrand coordinates are extended to describe the black hole in the cosmological environment: the Schwarzschild-de-Sitter black hole, which has two horizons. The extension is made using the Arnowitt-Deser-Misner formalism. In this extension, which describes the metric in the whole range of radial coordinates $0<r < \infty$, there is the point $r=r_0$ at which the shift function (velocity) changes sign. At this point the observer is at rest, while the observers at $r<r_0$ are free falling to the black hole and the observers at $r>r_0$ are free falling towards the cosmological hor…
Seeing relativity -- I. Ray tracing in a Schwarzschild metric to explore the maximal analytic extension of the metric and making a proper rendering of the stars
Based on the perspective that continuum gravitational physics is an emergent quantum gravitational phenomenon, and that spacetime thermodynamic is the natural langauge in which it can be described, we derive a modified Schwarzschild-de Sitter geometry in static coordinates from quantum gravity inspired logarithmic corrections to the entropy-area law. The resulting quantum corrections to classical geometry can be encoded in explicitly radius dependent black hole and cosmological constant parameters. By considering the pure black hole case we study linear perturbations on this modified backgroun…
We reconsider the study of the interior of the Schwarzschild black hole now including inverse triad quantum corrections within loop quantization. We derive these corrections and show that they are are related to two parameters $δ_b, δ_c$ associated to the minimum length in the radial and angular directions, that enter Thiemann's trick for quantum inverse triads. Introduction of such corrections may lead to non-invariance of physical results under rescaling of the fiducial volume needed to compute the dynamics, due to noncompact topology of the model. So, we put forward two prescriptions to res…
In this paper, we study the scattering and absorption sections of the Schwarzschild--anti de Sitter black hole surrounded by quintessence. The critical values of the cosmological constant and the normalization factor are obtained. We describe the event horizons and the extremal condition of the black hole surrounded by quintessence. The effects of quintessence on the classical and semi--classical scattering cross--sections have been estimated. Also, the absorption section is studied with the sinc approximation in the eikonal limit. We consider the quintessence state parameter in the particular…

We show that the Kantowski--Sachs model of a Schwarzschild black hole interior can be slightly generalized in order to accommodate spatial metrics of different orientations, and in this formulation the equations of motion admit a variable redefinition that makes the system regular at the singularity. This system will then traverse the singularity in a deterministic way (information will be conserved through it), and evolve into a time-reversed and orientation-flipped Schwarzschild white hole interior.
We study perturbations of massive and massless vector fields on a Schwarzschild black-hole background, including a non-minimal coupling between the vector field and the curvature. The coupling is given by the Horndeski vector-tensor operator, which we show to be unique, also when the field is massive, provided that the vector has a vanishing background value. We determine the quasi-normal mode spectrum of the vector field, focusing on the fundamental mode of monopolar and dipolar perturbations of both even and odd parity, as a function of the mass of the field and the coupling constant control…
