Graphene provides a fascinating testbed for new physics and exciting opportunities for future applications based on quantum phenomena. To understand the coherent flow of electrons through a graphene device, we employ a nanoscale probe that can access the relevant length scales - the tip of a liquid-He-cooled scanning probe microscope (SPM) capacitively couples to the graphene device below, creating a movable scatterer for electron waves. At sufficiently low temperatures and small size scales, the diffusive transport of electrons through graphene becomes coherent, leading to universal conductance fluctuations (UCF). By scanning the tip over a device, we map these conductance fluctuations \textit{vs.} scatterer position. We find that the conductance is highly sensitive to the tip position, producing $δG \sim e^2/h$ fluctuations when the tip is displaced by a distance comparable to half the Fermi wavelength. These measurements are in good agreement with detailed quantum simulations of the imaging experiment, and demonstrate the value of a cooled SPM for probing coherent transport in graphene.
We show that for graphene with any finite difference in the on-site energy between the two sub-lattices ($Δ$), The optical absorption edge is determined by the $Δ$. The universal conductance will be broken and the conductance near the band edge varies with frequency as $1/ω^2$. Moreover, we have identified another universal conductance for such systems without inversion symmetry, i.e., the onset conductance at the band edge is $% σ_c=2σ_0=πe^2/2h$, independent of the size of the band gap. The total integrated optical response is nearly conserved despite of the opening of the band gap.
Even a single point defect in a quantum wire causes a conductance reduction. In this paper we prove (without any approximations) that for any point impurity this conductance reduction in all the sub-bands is exactly 2e^2/h. Moreover, it is shown that in the case of a surface defect, not only is the conductance minimum independent of the defect characteristics, but the transmission matrix also converges to universal (defect-independent) values. We also discuss particle confinement between two arbitrarily weak point defects.
We report a theoretical investigation on the conductance and its fluctuation of three-dimensional topological insulators (3D TI) in $Bi_2Se_3$ and $Sb_2Te_3$ in the presence of disorders. Extensive numerical simulations are carried out. We find that in the diffusive regime the conductance is quantized with fractional value. Importantly, the conductance fluctuation is also quantized with a universal value. For 3D TI connected by two terminals, three independent conductances $G_{zz}$, $G_{xx}$ and $G_{zx}$ are identified where z is the normal direction of quintuple layer of 3D TI (see inset of F…
We report low-temperature magnetoconductance measurements of a patterned two-dimensional electron system (2DES) at the surface of strontium titanate, gated by an ionic liquid electrolyte. We observe universal conductance fluctuations, a signature of phase-coherent transport in mesoscopic devices. From the universal conductance fluctuations we extract an electron dephasing rate linear in temperature, characteristic of electron-electron interaction in a disordered conductor. Furthermore, the dephasing rate has a temperature-independent offset, suggestive of unscreened local magnetic moments in t…
In a quantum wire with ideal helical modes, the conductance is quantized in units of e^2/h, provided the wire is connected to Fermi liquid leads. We show that this universality does not hold in partially gapped quasi-helical systems such as Rashba nanowires subject to a magnetic field, which are commonly used to mimic helical Luttinger liquids. Instead, their conductance takes a non-universal value that depends on the interactions in the wire, even in the presence of Fermi liquid leads. The non-universal conductance is rooted in a non-trivial mixing of spin and charge degrees of freedom, which…
We revisited the scaling behavior of the transport properties of a quantum dot system described by the spin-1/2 Anderson model using analytical methods. In the low temperature limit we show that the conductance has a universal behavior with universality between temperature and bias. We compare this result with the empirical formula used to fit the experimental data for conductance in the case of the equilibrium transport through a single channel quantum dot. In the high temperature limit the conductance obtained from the Anderson model is compared with previous results obtained from the Kondo …
We present complete analytical and numerical results that demonstrate the anomalous universal fluctuations of the spin-Hall conductance in chiral materials such as graphene and topological insulators. We investigated both the corresponding fluctuations, the Universal Fractionated and the Universal Quantized, and also the open channels orbital number crossover between the two regimes. In particular, we show that the Wigner-Dyson symmetries does not properly describe such conductances and the preponderant role of the chiral classes on the Dirac quantum dots. The results are analytical and solve …
We explain the reduction of the thermal conductance below the predicted universal value observed by Schwab et al. in terms of the scattering of thermal phonons off surface roughness using a scalar model for the elastic waves. Our analysis shows that the thermal conductance depends on two roughness parameters: the roughness amplitude $δ$ and the correlation length $a$. At sufficiently low temperatures the conductance decrease from the universal value quadratically with temperature at a rate proportional to $δ^{2}a$. Values of $δ$ equal to 0.22 and $a$ equal to about 0.75 of the width of the con…
We investigate theoretically the linear and nonlinear conductance through a nanostructure with two-fold degenerate single levels, corresponding to the transport through nanostructures such as a carbon nanotube, or double dot systems with capacitive interaction. It is shown that the presence of the interaction asymmetry between orbits/dots affects significantly the profile of the linear conductance at finite temperature, and, of the nonlinear conductance, particularly around half-filling, where the two-particle Kondo effect occurs. Within the range of experimentally feasible parameters, the SU(…
We investigate the Hall conductance of a two-dimensional Chern insulator coupled to an environment causing gain and loss. Introducing a biorthogonal linear response theory, we show that sufficiently strong gain and loss lead to a characteristic non-analytical contribution to the Hall conductance. Near its onset, this contribution exhibits a universal power-law with a power 3/2 as a function of Dirac mass, chemical potential and gain strength. Our results pave the way for the study of non-Hermitian topology in electronic transport experiments.
We study quantum transport in Dirac materials with a single fermionic Dirac cone (strong topological insulators and graphene in the absence of intervalley coupling) in the presence of non-Gaussian long-range disorder. We show, by directly calculating numerically the conductance fluctuations, that in the limit of very large system size and disorder strength, quantum transport becomes universal. However, a systematic deviation away from universality is obtained for realistic system parameters. By comparing our results to existing experimental data on 1/f noise, we suggest that many of the graphe…
We introduce a generalized approach to one-dimensional (1D) conduction based on Haldane's concept of fractional statistics (FES) and the Landauer formulation of transport theory. We show that the 1D ballistic thermal conductance is independent of the statistics obeyed by the carriers and is governed by the universal quantum $ (π^2 k^2_B T)/(3h) $ in the degenerate regime. By contrast, the electrical conductance of FES systems is statistics-dependent. This work unifies previous theories of electron and phonon systems and explains an interesting commonality in their behavior.
The effect of phonon scattering by surface roughness on the thermal conductance in mesoscopic systems at low temperatures is calculated using full elasticity theory. The low frequency behavior of the scattering shows novel power law dependences arising from the unusual properties of the elastic modes. This leads to new predictions for the low temperature depression of the thermal conductance below the ideal universal value. Comparison with the data of Schwab et al. [Nature 404, 974 (2000)] suggests that surface roughness on a scale of the width of the thermal pathway is important in the experi…
In graphene, the valleys represent spin-like quantities and can act as a physical resource in valley-based electronics to novel quantum computation schemes. Here we demonstrate a direct route to tune and read the valley quantum states of disordered graphene by measuring the mesoscopic conductance fluctuations. We show that the conductance fluctuations in graphene at low temperatures are reduced by a factor of four when valley triplet states are gapped in the presence of short range potential scatterers at high carrier densities. We also show that this implies a gate tunable universal symmetry …
The universal quantization of thermal conductance provides information on the topological order of a state beyond electrical conductance. Such measurements have become possible only recently, and have discovered, in particular, that the value of the observed thermal conductance of the 5/2 state is not consistent with either the Pfaffian or the anti-Pfaffian model, motivating several theoretical articles. The analysis of the experiments has been made complicated by the presence of counter-propagating edge channels arising from edge reconstruction, an inevitable consequence of separating the dop…
The temperature effect of quantum interference on resistivity is examined in monolayer graphene, with experimental results showing that the amplitude of the conductance fluctuation increases as temperature decreases. We find that this behavior can be attributed to the decrease in the inelastic scattering (dephasing) rate, which enhances the weak localization (WL) correction to resistivity. Following a previous report that explained the relationship between the universal conductance fluctuation (UCF) and WL regarding the gate voltage dependence (D. Terasawa, et al., Phys. Rev. B 95 125427 (2017…
The nature of the critical point of the Anderson transition in high magnetic fields is discussed with an emphasis on scale invariance and universality of the critical exponent. Special attention is paid to the distribution function of the conductance which becomes size and model independent at the critical point. The fractal properties of the wave function which are related to scale invariance are also discussed.
The directed network model describing chiral edge states on the surface of a cylindrical 3D quantum Hall system is known to map to a one-dimensional quantum ferromagnetic spin chain. Using the spin wave expansion for this chain, we determine the universal functions for the crossovers between the 2D chiral metallic and 1D metallic regimes in the mean and variance of the conductance along the cylinder, to first nontrivial order.
We report on intrinsic time-dependent conductance fluctuations observed in mesoscopic AuFe spin glass wires. These dynamical fluctuations have a 1/f-like spectrum and appear below the measured spin glass freezing temperature of our samples. The dependence of the fluctuation amplitude on temperature, magnetic field, voltage and Fe concentration allows a consistent interpretation in terms of quantum interference effects which are sensitive to the slowly fluctuating spin configuration.
We investigate spin conductance in zigzag graphene nanoribbons and propose a spin injection mechanism based only on graphitic nanostructures. We find that nanoribbons with atomically straight, symmetric edges show zero spin conductance, but nonzero spin Hall conductance. Only nanoribbons with asymmetrically shaped edges give rise to a finite spin conductance and can be used for spin injection into graphene. Furthermore, nanoribbons with rough edges exhibit mesoscopic spin conductance fluctuations with a universal value of $\mathrm{rms} G_\mathrm{s}\approx 0.4 e/4π$.
The sample averaged longitudinal two-terminal conductance and the respective Kubo-conductivity are calculated at quantum critical points in the integer quantum Hall regime. In the limit of large system size, both transport quantities are found to be the same within numerical uncertainty in the lowest Landau band, $0.60\pm 0.02 e^2/h$ and $0.58\pm 0.03 e^2/h$, respectively. In the 2nd lowest Landau band, a critical conductance $0.61\pm 0.03 e^2/h$ is obtained which indeed supports the notion of universality. However, these numbers are significantly at variance with the hitherto commonly believe…
We report a theoretical investigation on spin-Hall conductance fluctuation of disordered four terminal devices in the presence of Rashba or/and Dresselhaus spin-orbital interactions in two dimensions. As a function of disorder, the spin-Hall conductance $G_{sH}$ shows ballistic, diffusive and insulating transport regimes. For given spin-orbit interactions, a universal spin-Hall conductance fluctuation (USCF) is found in the diffusive regime. The value of the USCF depends on the spin-orbit coupling $t_{so}$, but is independent of other system parameters. It is also independent of whether Rashba…
We investigate the transport properties of narrow quantum wires realized in disordered two-dimensional electron gases in the presence of k-linear Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interaction (SOI), and an applied in-plane magnetic field. Building on previous work [Scheid, et al., PRL 101, 266401 (2008)], we find that in addition to the conductance, the universal conductance fluctuations also feature anisotropy with respect to the magnetic field direction. This anisotropy can be explained solely from the symmetries exhibited by the Hamiltonian as well as the relative strengths of the Rashba an…
In this letter we study the conductance G through one-dimensional quantum wires with disorder configurations characterized by long-tailed distributions (Levy-type disorder). We calculate analytically the conductance distribution which reveals a universal statistics: the distribution of conductances is fully determined by the exponent αof the power-law decay of the disorder distribution and the average < ln G >, i.e., all other details of the disorder configurations are irrelevant. For 0< α< 1 we found that the fluctuations of ln G are not self-averaging and < ln G > scales with the length of t…
Mesoscopic transport measurements reveal a large effective phase coherence length in epitaxial GaMnAs ferromagnets, contrary to usual 3d-metal ferromagnets. Universal conductance fluctuations of single nanowires are compared for epilayers with a tailored anisotropy. At large magnetic fields, quantum interferences are due to structural disorder only, and an unusual behavior related to hole-induced ferromagnetism is evidenced, for both quantum interferences and decoherence. At small fields, phase coherence is shown to persist down to zero field, even in presence of magnons, and an additional spi…
We report on conductance fluctuation in quasi-one-dimensional wires made of epitaxial Bi$_{2}$Se$_{3}$ thin film. We found that this type of fluctuation decreases as the wire length becomes longer and that the amplitude of the fluctuation is well scaled to the coherence, thermal diffusion, and wire lengths, as predicted by conventional universal conductance fluctuation (UCF) theory. Additionally, the amplitude of the fluctuation can be understood to be equivalent to the UCF amplitude of a system with strong spin-orbit interaction and no time-reversal symmetry. These results indicate that the c…
We study conductance fluctuations (CF) and the sensitivity of the conductance to the motion of a single scatterer in two-dimensional massless Dirac systems. Our extensive numerical study finds limits to the predicted universal value of CF. We find that CF are suppressed for ballistic systems near the Dirac point and approach the universal value at sufficiently strong disorder. The conductance of massless Dirac fermions is sensitive to the motion of a single scatterer. CF of order $e^2/h$ result from the motion of a single impurity by a distance comparable to the Fermi wavelength. This result a…
Scanning gate microscopy of quantum point contacts (QPC) in the integer quantum Hall regime is considered in terms of the scattering wave functions with a finite-difference implementation of the quantum transmitting boundary approach. Conductance ($G$) maps for a clean QPC as well as for a system including an antidot within the constriction are evaluated. The step-like locally flat $G$ maps for clean QPCs turn into circular resonances that are reentrant in external magnetic field when the antidot is introduced to the constriction. The current circulation around the antidot and the spacing of t…
We report our investigation of the sample to sample fluctuation in transport properties of phase coherent normal metal-superconductor hybrid systems. Extensive numerical simulations were carried out for quasi-one dimensional and two dimensional systems in both square lattice (Fermi electron) as well as honeycomb lattice (Dirac electron). Our results show that when the Fermi energy is within the superconducting energy gap $Δ$, the Andreev conductance fluctuation exhibits a universal value (UCF) which is approximately two times larger than that in the normal systems. According to the random matr…
The hopping ac conductance, which is realized at the transverse conductance minima in the regime of the integer Hall effect, has been measured using a combination of acoustic and microwave methods. Measurements have been made in the p-GeSi/Ge/GeSi structures with quantum wells in a wide frequency range (30-1200 MHz). The experimental frequency dependences of the real part of ac conductance $σ_1$ have been interpreted on the basis of the model presuming hops between localized electronic states belonging to isolated clusters. At high frequencies, dominating clusters are pairs of close states; up…
Temporal universal conductance fluctuations (TUCF) are observed in RuO$_2$ nanowires at cryogenic temperatures. The fluctuations persist up to very high $T \sim 10$ K. Their root-mean-square magnitudes increase with decreasing $T$, reaching $\sim 0.2 e^2/h$ at $T \lesssim 2$ K. These fluctuations are shown to originate from scattering of conduction electrons with rich amounts of mobile defects in artificially synthesized metal oxide nanowires. TUCF characteristics in both one-dimensional saturated and unsaturated regimes are identified and explained in terms of current theories. Furthermore, t…
We consider scattering of spinless fermions by an inversion-symmetric interacting model characterized by three parameters (interaction U, internal hopping t_d and coupling t_c). Mapping this spinless model onto an Anderson model with Zeeman field, we use thenumerical renormalization group for studying the particle-hole symmetric case. We show that the zero temperature limit is characterized by a line of free-fermion fixed points and a scale τ(U,t_c) of t_d for which there is perfect transmission. The quantum conductance and the low energy excitations of the model are given by universal functio…
We theoretically investigate a quasi-one-dimensional quantum wire, where the lowest two subbands are populated, in the presence of a helical magnetic field. We uncover a backscattering mechanism involving the helical magnetic field and Coulomb interaction between the electrons. The combination of these ingredients results in scattering resonances and partial gaps which give rise to non-standard plateaus and conductance dips at certain electron densities. The positions and values of these dips are independent of material parameters, serving as direct transport signatures of this mechanism. Our …
We study scanning gate microscopy (SGM) conductance mapping of a $\mathrm{MoS}_2$ zigzag ribbon exploiting tight-binding and continuum models. We show that, even though the edge modes of a pristine nanoribbon are robust to backscattering on the potential induced by the tip, the conductance mapping reveals presence of both the edge modes and the quantized spin- and valley-current carrying modes. By inspecting the electron flow from a split gate quantum point contact (QPC) we find that the mapped current flow allows to determine the nature of the quantization in the QPC as spin-orbit coupling st…
Universal conductance fluctuations (UCFs) are extracted in the magnetoresistance responses in the bulk-insulating Bi2Te2Se microflakes. Its two-dimensional character is demonstrated by the field-tilting magnetoresistance measurements. Its origin from the surface electrons is determined by the fact that the UCF amplitudes keep unchanged while applying an in-plane field to suppress the coherence of bulk electrons. After considering the ensemble average in a batch of micrometer-sized samples, the intrinsic UCF magnitudes of over 0.37 e2/h is obtained. This agrees with the theoretical prediction o…
We report on phase-coherent transport studies of a Bi$_2$O$_2$Se nanoplate and on observation of universal conductance fluctuations and spin-orbit interaction induced reduction in fluctuation amplitude in the nanoplate. Thin-layered Bi$_2$O$_2$Se nanoplates are grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and transport measurements are made on a Hall-bar device fabricated from a CVD-grown nanoplate. The measurements show weak antilocalization at low magnetic fields at low temperatures, as a result of spin-orbit interaction, and a crossover toward weak localization with increasing temperature. Temp…
Conductance and shot noise of an open cavity with diffusive boundary scattering are calculated within the Boltzmann-Langevin approach. In particular, conductance contains a non-universal geometric contribution, originating from the presence of open contacts. Subsequently, universal expressions for multi-terminal conductance and noise valid for all chaotic cavities are obtained classically basing on the fact that the distribution function in the cavity depends only on energy and using the principle of minimal correlations.
We discuss the temperature-dependent thermoelectric transport properties of semiconductor nanostructures comprising a quantum dot coupled to quantum wires: the thermal dependence of the electrical conductance, thermal conductance, and thermopower. We explore the universality of the thermoelectric properties in the temperature range associated with the Kondo crossover. In this thermal range, general arguments indicate that any equilibrium property's temperature dependence should be a universal function of the ratio $T^{*}=T/T_{K}$, where $T_{K}$ is the Kondo temperature. Considering the particl…
We report a theoretical investigation of quantized spin-Hall conductance fluctuation of graphene devices in the diffusive regime. Two graphene models that exhibit quantized spin-Hall effect (QSHE) are analyzed. Model-I is with unitary symmetry under an external magnetic field $B\ne 0$ but with zero spin-orbit interaction, $t_{SO}=0$. Model-II is with symplectic symmetry where B=0 but $t_{SO} \ne 0$. Extensive numerical calculations indicate that the two models have exactly the same universal QSHE conductance fluctuation value $0.285 e/4π$ regardless of the symmetry. Qualitatively different fro…
We present temperature-dependent conductivity data obtained on a sample set of nanogranular Pt-C with finely tuned inter-grain tunnel coupling strength g. For samples in the strong-coupling regime g > g_C, characterized by a finite conductivity for T -> 0, we find a logarithmic behavior at elevated temperatures and a crossover to a sqrt(T)-behavior at low temperatures over a wide range of coupling strengths g_C = 0.25 < g <= 3. The experimental observation for g > 1 is in very good agreement with recent theoretical findings on ordered granular metals in three spatial dimensions. The results in…
We consider wires near a zero temperature transition between superconducting and metallic states. The critical theory obeys hyperscaling, which leads to a universal frequency, temperature, and length dependence of the conductance; quantum and thermal phase slips are contained within this critical theory. Normal (NN), superconducting (SS) and mixed (SN) leads on the wire determine distinct universality classes. For the SN case, wires near the critical point have a universal d.c. conductance which is independent of the length of the wire at low temperatures.
We study the symmetry classes of graphene quantum dots, both open and closed, through the conductance and energy level statistics. For abrupt termination of the lattice, these properties are well described by the standard orthogonal and unitary ensembles. However, for smooth mass confinement, special time-reversal symmetries associated with the sublattice and valley degrees of freedom are critical: they lead to block diagonal Hamiltonians and scattering matrices with blocks belonging to the unitary symmetry class even at zero magnetic field. While the effect of this structure is clearly seen i…
I analyse the transport of particles of arbitrary statistics (Bose, Fermi and fractional exclusion statistics) through one-dimensional (1D) channels. Observing that the particle, energy, entropy and heat fluxes through the 1D channel are similar to the particle, internal energy, entropy and heat capacity of a quantum gas in a two-dimensional (2D) flat box, respectively, I write analytical expressions for the fluxes at arbitrary temperatures. Using these expressions, I show that the heat and entropy fluxes are independent of statistics at any temperature, and not only in the low temperature lim…
We investigate the transport properties of open quantum chaotic systems in the semiclassical limit. We show how the transmission spectrum, the conductance fluctuations, and their correlations are influenced by the underlying chaotic classical dynamics, and result from the separation of the quantum phase space into a stochastic and a deterministic phase. Consequently, sample-to-sample conductance fluctuations lose their universality, while the persistence of a finite stochastic phase protects the universality of conductance fluctuations under variation of a quantum parameter.
The relationship between the universal conductance fluctuation and the weak localization effect in monolayer graphene is investigated. By comparing experimental results with the predictions of the weak localization theory for graphene, we find that the ratio of the elastic intervalley scattering time to the inelastic dephasing time varies in accordance with the conductance fluctuation; this is a clear evidence connecting the universal conductance fluctuation with the weak localization effect. We also find a series of scattering lengths that are related to the phase shifts caused by magnetic fl…
We analyze universal conductance fluctuations (UCF) in graphene in the framework of diagrammatic perturbation theory in the metallic regime. It is shown that strong inter-valley scattering lifts the valley degeneracy of electronic states, whereas at weak inter-valley scattering two valleys contribute independently such that the variance of UCF would be expected to show sample- and geometry-dependent behavior.
Using bosonization techniques for (2+1)D systems, we show that the transverse conductance for a system with general current interactions, when measured between perfect Hall regions is not renormalized at low temperatures. Our method extends and combines two results we have recently obtained on low dimensional fermionic systems: on the one hand, the relationship between universality of Landauer conductance and universality of bosonization rules for (1+1)D systems, and on the other hand, the universal character of the bosonized topological current associated to a (2+1)D fermionic system with cur…

We study the conductance fluctuation in topological semimetals. Through statistic distribution of energy levels of topological semimetals, we determine the dominant parameters of universal conductance fluctuation (UCF), i.e., the number of uncorrelated bands $k$, the level degeneracy $s$, and the symmetry parameter $β$. These parameters allow us to predict the zero-temperature intrinsic UCF of topological semimetals by the Altshuler-Lee-Stone theory. Then, we obtain numerically the conductance fluctuations for topological semimetals of quasi-1D geometry. We find that for Dirac/Weyl semimetals,…
A key feature of topological insulators (TI) is symplectic symmetry of the Hamiltonian which changes to unitary when time reversal symmetry is lifted and the topological phase transition occurs. However, such a crossover has never been explicitly observed, by directly probing the symmetry class of the Hamiltonian. In this report, we have probed the symmetry class of topological insulators by measuring the mesoscopic conductance fluctuations in the TI Bi$_{1.6}$Sb$_{0:4}$Te$_2$Se, which shows an exact factor of two reduction on application of a magnetic field due to crossover from symplectic to…

The thermal dependence of the electrical conductance of the single-electron transistor (SET) in the zero-bias Kondo regime is discussed. An exact mapping to the universal curve for the symmetric Anderson model is established. Linear, the mapping is parametrized by the Kondo temperature and the charge in the Kondo cloud. Illustrative numerical renormalization-group results, in excellent agreement with the mapping, are presented.
We study particle and spin transport in a single mode quantum point contact using a charge neutral, quantum degenerate Fermi gas with tunable, attractive interactions. This yields the spin and particle conductance of the point contact as a function of chemical potential or confinement. The measurements cover a regime from weak attraction, where quantized conductance is observed, to the resonantly interacting superfluid. Spin conductance exhibits a broad maximum when varying the chemical potential at moderate interactions, which signals the emergence of Cooper pairing. In contrast, the particle…
The effects of Umklapp scattering on the zero-temperature conductance in one-dimensional quantum wires are reexamined by taking into account both the screening of external potential and the non-uniform chemical potential shift due to electron-electron interaction. It is shown that in the case away from half-filling the conductance is given by the universal value, $2e^2/h$, even in the presence of Umklapp scattering, owing to these renormalization effects of external potential. The conclusion is in accordance with the recent claim obtained for the system with non-interacting leads being attache…
We numerically investigate the magnon-mediated spin transport and scaling behaviors of a nonmagnetic metal/nonmagnetic metal/ferromagnetic insulator (NM/NM/FI) heterostructure in the presence of Anderson disorders. For the two-dimensional (2D) NM/NM/FI system, an enhancement of spin conductance in the weak disorder regime is found due to the increasing of the interfacial density of states (DOS) at NM/FI interface. As a result, a new scaling regime is uncovered in the metallic regime where the spin conductance fluctuation rms(G) scales linearly with the average spin conductance <G>, independent…
