We compute the ground-state fidelity and various correlations to gauge the competition between different orders in two-dimensional t-J-type models. Using exact numerical diagonalization techniques, these quantities are examined for (i) the plain t-J and t-t'-J models, (ii) for the t-J model perturbed by infinite-range d-wave or extended-s-wave superconductivity inducing terms, and (iii) the t-J model, plain and with a d-wave perturbation, in the presence of non-magnetic quenched disorder. Various properties at low hole doping are contrasted with those at low electron filling. In the clean case, our results are consistent with previous work that concluded that the plain t-J model supports d-wave superconductivity. As a consequence of the strong correlations present in the low hole doping regime, we find that the magnitude of the d-wave condensate occupation is small even in the presence of large d-wave superconductivity inducing terms. In the dirty case, we show the robustness of the ground state in the strongly correlated regime against disorder.
The Hubbard model with local on-site repulsion is generally thought to possess a superconducting ground-state for appropriate parameters, but the effects of more realistic long-range Coulomb interactions have not been studied extensively. We study the influence of these interactions on superconductivity by including nearest and next-nearest neighbor extended Hubbard interactions in addition to the usual on-site terms. Utilizing numerical exact diagonalization, we analyze the signatures of superconductivity in the ground states through the fidelity metric of quantum information theory. We find …
We develop ultratransferable pseudopotentials for the contact interaction that are 100 times more accurate than contemporary approximations. The pseudopotential offers scattering properties very similar to the contact potential, has a smooth profile to accelerate numerics by a factor of up to 4,000, and, for positive scattering lengths, does not support an unwanted bound state. We demonstrate these advantages in a Diffusion Monte Carlo study of fermions with repulsive interactions, delivering the first numerical evidence for the formation of a p-wave superconducting state.
We reexamine the possibility of d-wave superconductivity in the hole-doped two-dimensional Hubbard model. In terms of the gauge field description of the spin fluctuations, we show that d-wave superconductivity is unstable in the perturbative region with respect to the on-site Coulomb repulsion, U. Whereas in the region where d-wave superconductivity is possible, there is a strong constraint on the gap of superconductivity. Analysis of the localized spin moments suggests that there is another d-wave (d_{x^2-y^2}-wave) pairing due to the short-range antiferromagnetic correlation.
We analyze the competition of magnetism and superconductivity in the two-dimensional Hubbard model with a moderate interaction strength, including the possibility of incommensurate spiral magnetic order. Using an unbiased renormalization group approach, we compute magnetic and superconducting order parameters in the ground state. In addition to previously established regions of Neel order coexisting with d-wave superconductivity, the calculations reveal further coexistence regions where superconductivity is accompanied by incommensurate magnetic order.
We found solutions of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations for the two-dimensional self-consistent model of superconductors with $d_{x^2-y^2}$ symmetry of the order parameter, taking into account spin and charge distributions. Analytical solutions for spin-charge density wave phases in the absence of the superconductivity ("stripe" and "checkerboard" structures) are presented. Analytical solutions for coexisting superconductivity and stripes are found.
In order to clarify whether the odd-frequency superconductivity can be realized or not, we study a quasi-one-dimensional triangular lattice in the Hubbard model using the random phase approximation (RPA) and the fluctuation exchange (FLEX) approximation. We find that odd-frequency spin-singlet p-wave pairing can be enhanced on a quasi-one-dimensional isosceles triangular lattice.
To investigate the possibility of charge order and superconductivity in a doped two-dimensional triangular lattice, we study the extended Hubbard model with variational Monte Carlo method. At n=2/3, a commensurate filling for a triangular lattice, it is shown that the nearest-neighbor Coulomb interaction V induces honeycomb-type charge order and antiferromagnetic spin order at U>10t. We also discuss the possibility of superconductivity induced by charge fluctuation and the relation to the superconductivity in Na_{0.35}CoO_{2}1.3H_{2}O and theta-type organic condoctors.
We study a model of a two-dimensional repulsive Fermi gas with Rashba spin-orbit coupling $α_R$, and investigate the superconducting instability using renormalization group approach. We find that in general superconductivity is enhanced as the dimensionless ratio 1/2mα_R^2/E_F$ increases, resulting in unconventional superconducting states which break time reversal symmetry.
We review the current understanding of superconductivity in the quasi-one-dimensional organic conductors of the Bechgaard and Fabre salt families. We discuss the interplay between superconductivity, antiferromagnetism, and charge-density-wave fluctuations. The connection to recent experimental observations supporting unconventional pairing and the possibility of a triplet-spin order parameter for the superconducting phase is also presented.
Using a recently developed renormalization group method for fermionic superfluids, we determine conditions for d-wave superconductivity in the two-dimensional Hubbard model at moderate interaction strength, and we compute the pairing gap in the superconducting regime. A pairing instability signaled by a divergent flow in the Cooper channel leads to a superconducting state in all studied cases. The next-to-nearest neighbor hopping $t'$ plays a crucial role in the competition between antiferromagnetism and superconductivity. A sizable $t'$ is necessary to obtain a sizable pairing gap.
We show that many observable properties of high temperature superconductors can be obtained in the frameworks of one-dimensional self-consistent model with included superconducting correlations. Analytical solutions for spin, charge and superconductivity order parameters are found. The ground state of the model at low hole doping is a spin-charge solitonic superstructure. Increasing of doping leads to the phase transition to superconducting phase. There is a region of doping where superconductivity, spin density wave and charged stripe structure coexist. The charge density modulation presents …
The study of exotic superconductivity in two dimensions has been a central theme in solid state and materials research communities. Experimentally exploring and identifying new fascinating interface superconductors with a high transition temperature ($T_c$) is challenging. Here, we report an experimental observation of intriguing two-dimensional superconductivity with a $T_c$ up to 3.8 K at the interface between Mott insulator Ti$_2$O$_3$ and polar semiconductor GaN. At the verge of superconductivity, we also observe a striking quantum metallic-like state, demonstrating that it is a precursor …
We evaluate the dominant superconducting pairing symmetry in some 3-dimensional cubic lattice struct ures within the third-order perturbation theory with respect to the on-site coulomb repulsion. We cl arify whether the vertex correction term, which has a critical contribution to the p-wave state in t he 2-dimensional systems, is also important in the 3-dimensional system. We finally investigate the interplay between dimensionality and the vertex correction to grasp common features independent of t he lattice structures in the mechanism of the superconductivity.
We review magnetic and superconducting instabilities in the t-t' Hubbard model on the two-dimensional square lattice as obtained with functional one-loop renormalization group techniques. Special emphasis is put on ferromagnetic and triplet superconducting tendencies that could be relevant to the triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4.
The Roth's two-pole approximation has been used by the present authors to investigate the role of $d-p$ hybridization in the superconducting properties of an extended $d-p$ Hubbard model. Superconductivity with singlet $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave pairing is treated by following Beenen and Edwards formalism. In this work, the Coulomb interaction, the temperature and the superconductivity have been considered in the calculation of some relevant correlation functions present in the Roth's band shift. The behavior of the order parameter associated with temperature, hybridization, Coulomb interaction and th…
Following the direct observation of abrupt changes in the superconducting ground state in doped low dimensional antiferromagnets, we have identified a phase transition where superconductivity is optimal. The experiments indicate the presence of a putative quantum critical point associated with the emergence of a glassy state. This mechanism is argued to be an intrinsic property and as such largely independent of material quality and the level of disorder.
Properties of superfluid states of two-dimensional electron systems with critical antiferromagnetic fluctuations are investigated. These correlations are found to result in the emergence of rapidly varying in the momentum space terms in all components of the mass operator, including the gap function $Δ({\bf p})$. It is shown that a domain, where these terms reside, shrinks with the temperature, leading to a significant difference between the temperature $T_c$, at which superconductivity is terminated, and the temperature $T^*$, where the gap in the single-particle spectrum vanishes.
We study the fidelity approach to quantum phase transitions (QPTs) and apply it to general thermal phase transitions (PTs). We analyze two particular cases: the Stoner-Hubbard itinerant electron model of magnetism and the BCS theory of superconductivity. In both cases we show that the sudden drop of the mixed state fidelity marks the line of the phase transition. We conduct a detailed analysis of the general case of systems given by mutually commuting Hamiltonians, where the non-analyticity of the fidelity is directly related to the non-analyticity of the relevant response functions (susceptib…
We report the infrared (IR) response of Cu-O chains in the high-$T_{c}$ superconductor YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{y}$ over the doping range spanning $% y=6.28-6.75$. We find evidence for a power law scaling at mid-IR frequencies consistent with predictions for Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid, thus supporting the notion of one-dimensional transport in the chains. We analyze the role of coupling to the CuO$_{2}$ planes in establishing metallicity and superconductivity in disordered chain fragments.
We observe charge-order fluctuations in the quasi-two-dimensional organic superconductor $β^{\prime\prime}$-(BEDT-TTF)2 SF5 CH2 CF2 SO3 both by means of vibrational spectroscopy, locally probing the fluctuating charge order, and investigating the in-plane dynamical response by infrared reflectance spectroscopy. The decrease of effective electronic interaction in an isostructural metal suppresses both charge-order fluctuations and superconductivity, pointing on their interplay. We compare the results of our experiments with calculations on the extended Hubbard model.
Motivated by the various physical properties observed in $θ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$X, we study the ground state of extended Hubbard model on two-dimensional anisotropic triangular lattice at 1/4-filling with variational Monte Carlo method. It is shown that the nearest-neighbor Coulomb interaction enhances the charge fluctuation and it induces the anomalous state such as charge-ordered metallic state and the triplet next-nearest-neighbor $f$-wave superconductivity. We discuss the relation to the real materials and propose the unified view of the family of $θ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$X.
We present a systematic stability analysis for the two-dimensional Hubbard model, which is based on a new renormalization group method for interacting Fermi systems. The flow of effective interactions and susceptibilities confirms the expected existence of a d-wave pairing instability driven by antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations. More unexpectedly, we find that strong forward scattering interactions develop which may lead to a Pomeranchuk instability breaking the tetragonal symmetry of the Fermi surface.
We reexamine whether the essence of high-Tc superconductivity is contained in doped Hubbard models on the square lattice by using recently developed pre-projected Gaussian-basis Monte Carlo method. The superconducting correlations of the dx2-y2 wave symmetry in the ground state at distance r decays essentially as inverse cubic of r. The upper bound of the correlation at long distances estimated by this unbiased method is 0.001, indicating that recent extensions of dynamical mean-field theories and variational methods yielded at least an order of magnitude overestimates of it. The correlations …
We calculate the dynamic effective electron-electron interaction potential for a low density disordered two-dimensional electron gas. The disordered response function is used to calculate the effective potential where the scattering rate is taken from typical mobilities from recent experiments. We investigate the development of an effective attractive pair potential for both disordered and disorder free systems with correlations determined from existing numerical simulation data. The effect of disorder and correlations on the superconducting critical temperature Tc is discussed.
In one dimension the coupling of electrons to phonons leads to a transition from a metallic to a Peierls distorted insulated state if the coupling exceeds a critical value. On the other hand, in two dimensions the electron-phonon interaction may also lead to the formation of Cooper pairs. This competition of superconductivity and charge order (in conjunction with a lattice distortion) is studied in this letter by means of the projector-based renormalization method (PRM). Increasing the electron-phonon interaction, we find a crossover behavior between a purely superconducting state and a charge…
We study superconductivity driven by screened Coulomb repulsion in three-dimensional Luttinger semimetals with a quadratic band touching and strong spin-orbit coupling. In these semimetals, the Cooper pairs are formed by spin-3/2 fermions with non-trivial wavefunctions. We numerically solve the linear Eliashberg equation to obtain the critical temperature of a singlet s-wave gap function as a function of doping, with account of spin-orbit and self-energy corrections. In order to understand the underlying mechanism of superconductivity, we compute the sensitivity of the critical temperature to …
Numerical studies of the two-dimensional d-p model using the Gutzwiller ansatz have exhibited the incommensurate antiferromagnetic state coexisting with superconductivity in the under- and lightly doped regions. Our results are based on the variational Monte Carlo method for the three-band Hubbard model with d and p orbitals. We obtained the finite superconducting condensation energy for the coexistent sate at the doping rate $x=1/8$, 1/12, and 1/16, up to the systems of 256 unit cells with 768 atoms (oxygen and copper atoms). The phase diagram for the hole-doped case is consistent with recent…
We report theoretical and experimental results on the transition metal pnictide WP. The theoretical outcomes based on tight-binding calculations and density functional theory indicate that WP is a three-dimensional superconductor with an anisotropic electronic structure and nonsymmorphic symmetries. On the other hand, magnetoresistance experimental data and the analysis of superconducting fluctuations of the conductivity in external magnetic field indicate a weakly anisotropic three-dimensional superconducting phase.
We introduce and analyze a variational wave function for quasi two-dimensional kappa-ET organic salts containing strong local and nonlocal correlation effects. We find an unconventional superconducting ground state for intermediate charge carrier interaction, sandwiched between a conventional metal at weak coupling and a spin liquid at larger coupling. Most remarkably, the excitation spectrum is dramatically renormalized and is found to be the driving force for the formation of the unusual superconducting state.
A refined variational wave function for the two-dimensional repulsive Hubbard model is studied numerically, with the aim of approaching the difficult crossover regime of intermediate values of U. The issue of a superconducting ground state with d-wave symmetry is investigated for an average electron density n=0.8125 and for U=8t. Due to finite-size effects a clear-cut answer to this fundamental question has not yet been reached.
We study the mechanism of the triplet superconductivity in Sr2RuO4 based on the multiorbital Hubbard model. The electronic states are studied using the renormalization group method. Thanks to the vertex correction (VC) for the susceptibility, which is dropped in the mean-field-level approximations, strong orbital and spin fluctuations at $Q=(2π/3,2π/3)$ emerge in the quasi one-dimensional Fermi surfaces composed of $d_{xz}$ and $d_{yz}$ orbitals. Due to the cooperation of both fluctuations, we obtain the triplet superconductivity in the $E_u$ representation, in which the superconducting gap is…
A variational ground state of the repulsive Hubbard model on a square lattice is investigated numerically for an intermediate coupling strength (U = 8t) and for moderate sizes (from 6 x 6 to 10 x 10). Our ansatz is clearly superior to other widely used variational wave functions. The results for order parameters and correlation functions provide new insight for the antiferromagnetic state at half filling as well as strong evidence for a superconducting phase away from half filling.
We investigate the ground-state phase diagram of the two-dimensional Hubbard model based on the optimization variational Monte Carlo method. We use a wave function that is an off-diagonal type given as $ψ=\exp(-λK)P_Gψ_0$, where $ψ_0$ is a one-particle state, $P_G$ is the Gutzwiller operator, $K$ is the kinetic operator, and $λ$ is a variational parameter. The many-body effect plays an important role as an origin of spin correlation and superconductivity in correlated electron systems. We examine the competition between the antiferromagnetic state and superconducting state by varying the Coulo…
We study the ground state of one-dimensional channel with strong attractive electron-electron interaction at low temperatures. In spite of the fact that at low temperatures the ground state of one-dimensional attracting electrons is a state with a macroscopically large number of cooperons, the resulting superconducting phase has a number of significant differences. Namely, the order parameter (which should appear in the superconducting phase according to Landau's phenomenological theory) turns out to be zero. However, elastic impurities implanted in a one-dimensional channel will not lead to d…
The effect of antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations on two-dimensional quarter-filled systems is studied theoretically. An effective $t-J'-V$ model on a square lattice which accounts for checkerboard charge fluctuations and next-nearest-neighbors antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations is considered. From calculations based on large-N theory on this model it is found that the exchange interaction, $J'$, increases the attraction between electrons in the d$_{xy}$ channel only, so that both charge and spin fluctuations work cooperatively to produce d$_{xy}$ pairing.
Using computational techniques, it is shown that pairing is a robust property of hole doped antiferromagnetic (AF) insulators. In one dimension (1D) and for two-leg ladder systems, a BCS-like variational wave function with long-bond spin-singlets and a Jastrow factor provides an accurate representation of the ground state of the t-J model, even though strong quantum fluctuations destroy the off-diagonal superconducting (SC) long-range order in this case. However, in two dimensions (2D) it is argued -- and numerically confirmed using several techniques, especially quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) -- t…
A three-fermion problem in a three-dimensional lattice with anisotropic hopping is solved by discretizing the Schroedinger equation in momentum space. Interparticle interaction comprises on-site Hubbard repulsion and in-plane nearest-neighbor attraction. By comparing the energy of three-fermion bound clusters (trions) with the energy of one pair plus one free particle, a trion formation threshold is accurately determined, and the region of pair stability is mapped out. It is found that the "close-packed" density of fermion pairs is highest in a strongly anisotropic model. It is also argued tha…
The dual-fermion approach offers a way to perform diagrammatic expansion around the dynamical mean-field theory. Using this formalism, the influence of antiferromagnetic fluctuations on the self-energy is taken into account through ladder-type diagrams in the particle-hole channel. The resulting phase diagram for the (quasi-)two-dimensional Hubbard model exhibits antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity. Furthermore, a uniform charge instability, i.e., phase separation, is obtained in the low doping regime around the Mott insulator. We also examine spin/charge density wave fluctuations …
We develop a finite temperature mean field theory in the path integral picture for an extremely dilute system of interacting Fermions in a plane. In the limit of short ranged interactions, the system is shown to undergo a phase transition to a superconducting regime. Unlike the well known BCS transition for metals, this phase transition is found to be very sensitive to the two dimensional nature of the problem. A quantitative estimate of this sensitivity is carried out by repeating the analysis at non-zero thickness. The validity of the mean field results are also proved using renormalization …
Using dynamic cluster quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we study the superconducting behavior of a 1/8 doped two-dimensional Hubbard model with imposed uni-directional stripe-like charge density wave modulation. We find a significant increase of the pairing correlations and critical temperature relative to the homogeneous system when the modulation length-scale is sufficiently large. With a separable form of the irreducible particle-particle vertex, we show that optimized superconductivity is obtained for moderate modulation strength due to a delicate balance between the modulation enhanced pai…
Interplay between antiferromagnetism and superconductivity is studied by using the 3-dimensional nearly half-filled Hubbard model with anisotropic transfer matrices $t_{\rm z}$ and $t_{\perp}$. The phase diagrams are calculated for varying values of the ratio $r_{\rm z}=t_{\rm z}/t_{\perp}$ using the spin fluctuation theory within the fluctuation-exchange approximation. The antiferromagnetic phase around the half-filled electron density expands while the neighboring phase of the anisotropic $d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$-wave superconductivity shrinks with increasing $r_{\rm z}$. For small $r_{\rm z}$ $T_{…
We discuss the possibility of coexistence of spin density wave (antiferromagnetism) and triplet superconductivity as a particular example of a broad class of systems where the interplay of magnetism and superconductivity is important. We focus on the case of quasi-one-dimensional metals, where it is known experimentally that antiferromagnetism is in close proximity to triplet superconductivity in the temperature versus pressure phase diagram. Over a narrow range of pressures, we propose an intermediate non-uniform phase consisting of alternating antiferromagnetic and triplet superconducting st…
The possibility of coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetic long range order (AFLRO) of the two-dimensional extended $t-J$ model in the very underdoped region is studied by the variational Monte-Carlo (VMC) method. In addition to using previously studied wave functions, a recently proposed new wave function generated from the half-filled Mott insulator is used. For hole-doped systems, the phase boundary between AFLRO and $d-$wave SC for the physical parameters, $J/t=0.3$, $t'/t=-0.3$ and $t''/t=0.2$, is located near hole density $δ_c = 0.06$, and there is {\it no} coexistenc…
The possible heavy fermion superconductivity is carefully reexamined in the two-dimensional Kondo lattice model with an antiferromagnetic Heisenberg superexchange between local magnetic moments. In order to establish an effective mean field theory in the limit of the paramagnetic heavy Fermi liquid and near the half-filling case, we find that the spinon singlet pairing from the local antiferromagnetic short-range correlations can reduce the ground state energy substantially. In the presence of the Kondo screening effect, the Cooper pairs between the conduction electrons is induced. Depending o…
We propose a mechanism of unconventional superconductivity in two-dimensional strongly-correlated electron systems. We consider a two-dimensional Kondo lattice system or double-exchange system with spin-orbit coupling arising from buckling of the plane. We show that a Chern-Simons term is induced for a gauge field describing the phase fluctuations of the localized spins. Through the induced Chern-Simons term, carriers behave like skyrmion excitations that lead to a destruction mechanism of magnetic long-range order by carrier doping. After magnetic long-range order is destroyed by carrier dopi…
We report on the discovery and transport study of the superconducting ground state present at the (111)LaAlO$_3$/SrTiO$_3$ interface. The superconducting transition is consistent with a Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition and its 2D nature is further corroborated by the anisotropy of the critical magnetic field, as calculated by Tinkham. The estimated superconducting layer thickness and coherence length are 10 nm and 60 nm, respectively. The results of this work provide a new platform to clarify the microscopic details of superconductivity at LaAlO$_3$/SrTiO$_3$ interfaces, in particula…
When wavefunction of crystal was projected out in atomic basis, we found that electrons of s orbital had localization-delocalization duality, and the ones of p and d orbital were only localized in three dimensional crystal lattice. The existence of s type delocalized electrons is based on three dimensional ordering of electron density in metals. Then charge carriers of metals for conductivity are just such delocalized electrons so that the ones for superconductivity are electron pairs of s wave. This way could also be generalized to two dimensional case for CuO2 plane of cuprate superconductor…
The anisotropic superconductivity and the density wave have been investigated by applying the Kadanoff-Wilson renormalization group technique to the quasi-one-dimensional system with finite-range interactions. It is found that a temperature (T) dependence of response functions is proportional to exp(1/T) in a wide region of temperature even within the one-loop approximation. Transition temperatures are calculated to obtain the phase diagram of the quasi-one-dimensional system, which is compared with that of the pure-one-dimensional system. Next-nearest neighbor interactions (V_2) induce large …
The energetics of the interplay between superconductivity and the pseudogap in high temperature superconductivity is examined using the eight-site dynamical cluster approximation to the two dimensional Hubbard model. Two regimes of superconductivity are found: a weak coupling/large doping regime in which the onset of superconductivity causes a reduction in potential energy and an increase in kinetic energy, and a strong coupling regime in which superconductivity is associated with an increase in potential energy and decrease in kinetic energy. The crossover between the two regimes is found to …
Alkali-fulleride superconductors with a maximum critical temperature Tc of 40 K exhibit similar electronic phase diagram with unconventional high-Tc superconductors where the superconductivity resides proximate to a magnetic Mott-insulating state. However, distinct from cuprate compounds, which superconduct through two-dimensional (2D) CuO2 planes, alkali fullerides are attributed to the three-dimensional (3D) members of high-Tc family. Here, we employ scanning tunneling microscopy to show that trilayer K3C60 displays fully gapped strong coupling s-wave superconductivity that coexists spatiall…
The recently discovered Dirac and Weyl semimetals are new members of topological materials. Starting from them, topological superconductivity may be achieved, e.g. by carrier doping or applying pressure. Here we report high-pressure resistance and X-ray diffraction study of the three-dimensional topological Dirac semimetal Cd3As2. Superconductivity with Tc ~ 2.0 K is observed at 8.5 GPa. The Tc keeps increasing to about 4.0 K at 21.3 GPa, then shows a nearly constant pressure dependence up to the highest pressure 50.9 GPa. The X-ray diffraction measurements reveal a structure phase transition …
The two-dimensional Hubbard model exhibits superconductivity with d-wave symmetry even at half-filling in the presence of next-nearest neighbor hopping. Using plaquette cluster dynamical mean-field theory with a continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo impurity solver, we reveal the non-Fermi liquid character of the metallic phase in proximity to the superconducting state. Specifically, the low-frequency scattering rate for momenta near (π, 0) varies non-monotonously at low temperatures, and the dc conductivity is T-linear at elevated temperatures with an upturn upon cooling. Evidence is provided t…
We study the properties of $s$-wave superconductivity induced around a nematic quantum critical point in two-dimensional metals. The strong Landau damping and the Cooper pairing between incoherent fermions have dramatic mutual influence on each other, and hence should be treated on an equal footing. This problem is addressed by analyzing the self-consistent Dyson-Schwinger equations for the superconducting gap and Landau damping rate. We solve the equations at zero temperature without making any linearization, and show that the superconducting gap is maximized at the quantum critical point and…
Recently a new family of Cr-based A2Cr3As3 (A = K, Rb, Cs) superconductors were reported, which own a rare quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) crystal structure with infinite (Cr3As3)2- chains and exhibit intriguing superconducting characteristics possibly derived from spin-triplet electron pairing. The crystal structure of A2Cr3As3 is actually a slight variation of the hexagonal TlFe3Te3 prototype although they have different lattice symmetry. Here we report superconductivity in a 133-type KCr3As3 compound that belongs to the latter structure. The single crystals of KCr3As3 were prepared by the deint…
Here we report the discovery of the first ternary molybdenum pnictide based superconductor K2Mo3As3. Polycrystalline samples were synthesized by the conventional solid state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals a quasi-one-dimensional hexagonal crystal structure with (Mo3As3)2- linear chains separated by K+ ions, similar as previously reported K2Cr3As3, with the space group of P-6m2 (No. 187) and the refined lattice parameters a = 10.145(5) Å and c = 4.453(8) Å. Electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity measurements exhibit bulk superconductivity with th…
Superconductivity becomes more interesting when it encounters dimensional constraint or topology, because it is of importance for exploring exotic quantum phenomena or developing superconducting electronics. Here we report the coexistence of naturally formed surface superconducting state and three-dimensional topological Dirac state in single crystals of BaMg$_2$Bi$_2$. The electronic structure obtained from the first-principles calculations demonstrates that BaMg$_2$Bi$_2$ is an ideal Dirac material, in which the Dirac point is very close to the Fermi level and no other energy band crosses th…
