We present new families of non-supersymmetric solutions of D=11 supergravity with non-relativistic symmetry, based on six-dimensional Kaehler-Einstein manifolds. In constructing these solutions, we make use of a consistent reduction to a five-dimensional gravity theory coupled to a massive scalar and vector field. This theory admits a non-relativistic CFT dual with dynamical exponent z=4, which may be uplifted to D=11 supergravity. Finally, we generalise this solution and find new solutions with various z, including z=2.
We present a new infinite class of near-horizon geometries of degenerate horizons, satisfying Einstein's equations for all odd dimensions greater than five. The symmetry and topology of these solutions is compatible with those of black holes. The simplest examples give horizons of spatial topology S^3xS^2 or the non-trivial S^3-bundle over S^2. More generally, the horizons are Lens space bundles associated to certain principal torus-bundles over Fano Kaehler-Einstein manifolds. We also consider the classification problem for Einstein metrics on such Lens space bundles and derive a family which…
We present a systematic technique to expand the Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian in inverse powers of the speed of light squared. The corresponding result for the non-relativistic gravity Lagrangian is given up to next-to-next-to-leading order. The techniques are universal and can be used to expand any Lagrangian theory whose fields are a function of a given parameter.
We compute deviations from ideal gas behavior of the pressure, density, and Bose-Einstein condensation temperature of a relativistic gas of charged scalar bosons caused by the current-current interaction induced by electromagnetic quantum fluctuations treated via scalar quantum electrodynamics. We obtain expressions for those quantities in the ultra-relativistic and nonrelativistic limits, and present numerical results for the relativistic case.
In this paper, we study the effects of a modified theory of gravity - the rainbow gravity - on the relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). We initially discuss some formal aspects of the model in order to compute the corrections to the relevant quantities of the condensate. Following, we evaluate the generating functional from which obtain some thermodynamic parameters. Then we calculate the corrected critical temperature $T_c$ that sets the relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate considering the three principal rainbow functions, finding, in addition, a phenomenological upper bound for the…
Based on the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP), the critical temperature and the Helmholtz free energy of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in the relativistic ideal Bose gas are investigated. At the non-relativistic limit and the ultra-relativistic limit, we calculate the analytical form of the shifts of the critical temperature and the Helmholtz free energy caused by weak quantum gravitational effects. The exact numerical results of these shifts are obtained. Quantum gravity effects lift the critical temperature of BEC. By measuring the shift of the critical temperature, we can constrai…
We derive the Schrödinger-Newton equation as the non-relativistic limit of the Einstein-Dirac equations. Our analysis relaxes the assumption of spherical symmetry, made in earlier work in the literature, while deriving this limit. Since the spin of the Dirac field couples naturally to torsion, we generalize our analysis to the Einstein Cartan-Dirac (ECD) equations, again recovering the Schrödinger-Newton equation.
The equations of state for a characteristic spacetime are studied in the context of the spherically symmetric interior exact and analytical solutions in Horava gravity and Einstein-aether theory in which anisotropic fluids are considered. In particular, for a given anisotropic interior solution, the equations of state relating the density to the radial and tangential pressure are derived, by means of a polynomial best-fit. Moreover, the well-known relativistic polytropic equations of state are used in order to obtain the profile of the thermodynamical quantities inside the stellar object as pr…

We construct states describing Bose Einstein condensates at finite temperature for a relativistic massive complex scalar field with $|φ|^4$-interaction. We start with the linearised theory over a classical condensate and construct interacting fields by perturbation theory. Using the concept of thermal masses, equilibrium states at finite temperature can be constructed by the methods developed in arXiv:1306.6519 and arXiv:1502.02705. Here, the principle of perturbative agreement plays a crucial role. The apparent conflict with Goldstone's Theorem is resolved by the fact that the linearised theo…
