We obtained the formulas for the quantities of positive, negative and zero values of the Mobius function for any real x in terms of the Mobius function values for square root of x - similar to the identities we found earlier for the Mertens function [1]. Using the Dirac delta function approach [3, 2] we propose the equations showing how the Mertens and related functions can generate the output values.

Möbius function of semigroup posets through Hilbert series

In this paper, we investigate the M{ö}bius function $μ\_{\mathcal{S}}$ associated to a (locally finite) poset arising from a semigroup $\mathcal{S}$ of $\mathbb{Z}^m$. We introduce and develop a new approach to study $μ\_{\mathcal{S}}$ by using the Hilbert series of $\mathcal{S}$. The latter enables us to provide formulas for $μ\_{\mathcal{S}}$ when $\mathcal{S}$ belongs to certain families of semigroups. Finally, a characterization for a locally finite poset to be isomorphic to a semigroup poset is given.

Negative moments of the Riemann zeta-function

Assuming the Riemann Hypothesis we study negative moments of the Riemann zeta-function and obtain asymptotic formulas in certain ranges of the shift in $ζ(s)$. For example, integrating $|ζ(1/2+α+it)|^{-2k}$ with respect to $t$ from $T$ to $2T$, we obtain an asymptotic formula when the shift $α$ is roughly bigger than $\frac{1}{\log T}$ and $k < 1/2$. We also obtain non-trivial upper bounds for much smaller shifts, as long as $\log\frac{1}α \ll \log \log T$. Negative moments of the gaps between consecutive primes

We derive heuristically approximate formulas for the negative $k$--moments $M_{-k}(x)$ of the gaps between consecutive primes$<x $ represented directly by $π(x)$ --- the number of primes up to $x$. In particular we propose an analytical formula for the sum of reciprocals of gaps between consecutive primes $<x : ~ M_{-1}(x)\sim \frac{π^2(x)}{x-2π(x)}\log\Big(\frac{x}{2π(x)}\Big) \sim x \log \log(x)/\log^2(x)$. We illustrate obtained results by the enormous computer data up to $x=4\times 10^{18}$.

Number of Non-negative Integer Solutions of the Equation ax+by+cz=n and its Relation with Quadratic Residues

In 2000, A. Tripathi used generating functions to obtain a formula for the number of non-negative solutions (x,y) of the equation ax + by = n where a, b and n are given positive integers. We generalize this procedure for the number of solutions of the equation ax + by + cz = n. The Ratios Conjecture and upper bounds for negative moments of $L$-functions over function fields

We prove special cases of the Ratios Conjecture for the family of quadratic Dirichlet $L$--functions over function fields. More specifically, we study the average of $L(1/2+α,χ_D)/L(1/2+β,χ_D)$, when $D$ varies over monic, square-free polynomials of degree $2g+1$ over $\mathbb{F}_q[x]$, as $g \to \infty$, and we obtain an asymptotic formula when $\Re β\gg g^{-1/2+\varepsilon}$. On the number of integer non-negative solutions of a linear Diophantine equation

We deal with the problem to find the number $P(b)$ of integer non-negative solutions of an equation $\sum_{i=1}^{n} a_i x_i=b$, where $a_1,a_2,...,a_n$ are natural numbers and $b$ is a non-negative integer. As different from the traditional methods of investigation of the function $P(b)$, in our study we do not employ the techniques of number series theory, but use in the main the properties of the Kronecker function and the elements of combinatorics. Lower bounds for discrete negative moments of the Riemann zeta function

We prove lower bounds for the discrete negative $2k$th moment of the derivative of the Riemann zeta function for all fractional $k\geqslant 0$. The bounds are in line with a conjecture of Gonek and Hejhal. Along the way, we prove a general formula for the discrete twisted second moment of the Riemann zeta function. This agrees with a conjecture of Conrey and Snaith.

Negative moments of $L$-functions with small shifts over function fields

We consider negative moments of quadratic Dirichlet $L$--functions over function fields. Summing over monic square-free polynomials of degree $2g+1$ in $\mathbb{F}_q[x]$, we obtain an asymptotic formula for the $k^{\text{th}}$ shifted negative moment of $L(1/2+β,χ_D)$, in certain ranges of $β$ (for example, when roughly $β\gg \log g/g $ and $k<1$). We also obtain non-trivial upper bounds for the $k^{\text{th}}$ shifted negative moment when $\log(1/β) \ll \log g$. Previously, almost sharp upper bounds were obtained in \cite{ratios} in the range $β\gg g^{-\frac{1}{2k}+ε}$.

The q-Binomial Coefficient for Negative Arguments and Some q-Binomial Summation Identities

Using a property of the q-shifted factorial, an identity for q-binomial coefficients is proved, which is used to derive the formulas for the q-binomial coefficient for negative arguments. The result is in agreement with an earlier paper about the normal binomial coefficient for negative arguments. Some new q-binomial summation identities are derived, and the formulas for negative arguments transform some of these summation identities into each other. One q-binomial summation identity is transformed into a new q-binomial summation identity.

Asymptotic formulas for coefficients of inverse theta functions

We determine asymptotic formulas for the coefficients of a natural class of negative index and negative weight Jacobi forms. These coefficients can be viewed as a refinement of the numbers $p_k(n)$ of partitions of n into k colors. Part of the motivation for this work is that they are equal to the Betti numbers of the Hilbert scheme of points on an algebraic surface S and appear also as counts of Bogomolny-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) states in physics.
