Since the b ghost in the pure spinor formalism is a composite operator depending on non-minimal variables, it is not trivial to impose the Siegel gauge condition b_0 V=0 on BRST-invariant vertex operators. Using the antifield vertex operator V* of ghost-number +2, we show that Siegel gauge unintegrated vertex operators can be constructed as b_0 V* and Siegel gauge integrated vertex operators as \int dz b_{-1} b_0 V*.
These Siegel gauge vertex operators depend on the non-minimal variables, so scattering amplitudes involving these operators need to be regularized using the prescription developed previously with Nekrasov. As an example of this regularization prescription, we compute the four-point one-loop amplitude with four Siegel gauge integrated vertex operators. This is the first one-loop computation in the pure spinor formalism that does not require unintegrated vertex operators.
We describe the pure spinor string in the $AdS_5\times S^5$ using unconstrained matrices first used by Roiban and Siegel for the Green-Schwarz superstring.
Using the pure spinor master action for 10D super-Yang-Mills in the gauge $b_{0}V = QΞ$, tree-level scattering amplitudes are calculated through the perturbiner method, and shown to match those obtained from pure spinor CFT techniques. We find kinematic numerators made of nested $b$-ghost operators, and show that the Siegel gauge condition $b_{0}V = 0$ gives rise to color-kinematics duality satisfying numerators whose Jacobi identity follows from the Jacobi identity of a kinematic algebra.
We analyze the properties of the non-minimal pure spinor formalism. We show that Siegel gauge on massless vertex operators implies the primary field constraint and the level-matching condition in closed string theory by reconstructing the integrated vertex operator representation from the unintegrated ones. The pure spinor integration in the non-minimal formalism needs a regularisation. To this end we introduce a new regulator for the pure spinor integration and an extension of the regulator to allow for the saturation of the fermionic d-zero modes to all orders in perturbation. We conclude wi…
The $b$ ghost, or $b$ operator, used for fixing Siegel gauge in the pure spinor superfield formalism, is a composite operator of negative ghost number, satisfying $\{q,b\}=\square$, where $q$ is the pure spinor differential (BRST operator). It is traditionally constructed using non-minimal variables. However, since all cohomology has minimal representatives, it seems likely that there should be versions of physically meaningful operators, also with negative ghost number, using only minimal variables. The purpose of this letter is to demonstrate that this statement holds by providing a concrete…
The one-loop quantum corrections of Chern-Simons spinor electrodynamics in the light-cone gauge has been investigated. We have calculated the vacuum polarization tensor, fermionic self-energy and on-shell vertex correction with a hybrid regularization consisting of a higher covariant derivative regularization and dimensional continuation. The Mandelstam-Leibbrandt prescription is used to handle the spurious light-cone singularity in the gauge field propagator. We then perform the finite renormalization to define the quantum theory. The generation of the parity-even Maxwell term and the arising…
In this paper, we compute the effective action of both a scalar field and a Dirac spinor field in the global de Sitter space of any dimension $d$ using the in-/out-state formalism. We show that there is particle production in even dimensions for both scalar field and spinor field. The in-out vacuum amplitude $Z_{in/out}$ is divergent at late times. By using dimensional regularization, we extract the finite part of $\log Z_{in/out}$ for $d$ even and the logarithmically divergent part of $\log Z_{in/out}$ for $d$ odd. We also find that the regularized in-out vacuum amplitude equals the ratio of …
Continuing our exploration of maximally supersymmetric gauge theories (MSYM) deformed by higher dimensional operators, in this paper we consider an off-shell approach based on pure spinor superspace and focus on constructing supersymmetric deformations beyond the first order. In particular, we give a construction of the Batalin-Vilkovisky action of an all-order non-Abelian Born-Infeld deformation of MSYM in the non-minimal pure spinor formalism. We also discuss subtleties in the integration over the pure spinor superspace and the relevance of Berkovits-Nekrasov regularization.
In this paper we explicitly evaluate the one-loop effective action in four dimensions for scalar and spinor fields under the influence of a strong, covariantly constant, magnetic field in curved spacetime. In the framework of zeta function regularization, we find the one-loop effective action to all orders in the magnetic field up to linear terms in the Riemannian curvature. As a particular case, we also obtain the one-loop effective action for massless scalar and spinor fields. In this setting, we found that the vacuum energy of charged spinors with small mass becomes very large due entirely …
Classically supersymmetric Wilson loop on a null polygonal contour possesses all symmetries required to match it onto non-MHV amplitudes in maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. However, to define it quantum mechanically, one is forced to regularize it since perturbative loop diagrams are not well-defined due to presence of ultraviolet divergences stemming from integration in the vicinity of the cusps. A regularization that is adopted by practitioners by allowing one to use spinor helicity formalism, on the one hand, and systematically go to higher orders of perturbation theory is based …
We compute the two-loop $β$-function of scalar and spinorial quantum electrodynamics as well as pure Yang-Mills and quantum chromodynamics using the background field method in a fully quadridimensional setup using Implicit Regularization (IREG). Moreover, a thorough comparison with dimensional approaches such as conventional dimensional regularization (CDR) and dimensional reduction (DRED) is presented. Subtleties related to Lorentz algebra contractions/symmetric integrations inside divergent integrals as well as renormalisation schemes are carefully discussed within IREG where the renormalisa…
