The construction of generalized continuous wavelet transforms on locally compact abelian groups $A$ from quasi-regular representations of a semidirect product group $G = A \rtimes H$ acting on ${\rm L}^2(A)$ requires the existence of a square-integrable function whose Plancherel transform satisfies Calderón-type resolution of the identity. The question then arises under what conditions such square-integrable functions exist.
The existing literature on this subject leaves a gap between sufficient and necessary criteria. In this paper, we give a characterization in terms of the natural action of the dilation group $H$ on the character group of $A$. We first prove that a Calderón-type resolution of the identity gives rise to a decomposition of Plancherel measure of $A$ into measures on the dual orbits, and then show that the latter property is equivalent to regularity conditions on the orbit space of the dual action.
Thus we obtain, for the first time, sharp necessary and sufficient criteria for the existence of a wavelet inversion formula. As a byproduct and special case of our results we obtain that discrete series subrepresentations of the quasiregular representation correspond precisely to dual orbits with positive Plancherel measure and associated compact stabilizers. Only sufficiency of the conditions was previously known.
Let $l_0$ be the group (with respect to the coordinate-wise addition) of all sequences of real numbers $x=(x_k)_{k=1}^\infty$ that are eventually zero, equipped with the quasi-norm $\|x\|_0={\rm card}\{supp\,x\}$. A description of orbits of elements in the pair $(l_0,l_1)$ is given, which complements (in the sequence space setting) the classical Calderón-Mityagin theorem on a description of orbits of elements in the pair $(l_1,l_\infty)$. As a consequence, we obtain that the pair $(l_0,l_1)$ is ${\mathcal K}$-monotone.
Let $μ$ be an $n$-dimensional finite positive measure on $\mathbb{R}^m$. We obtain a $T1$ condition sufficient for the boundedness of Calderón-Zygmund operators on $\textrm{RBMO}(μ)$, the regular BMO space of Tolsa.
Assume that $(X, d, μ)$ is a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss. In this article, motivated by the breakthrough work of P. Auscher and T. Hytönen on orthonormal bases of regular wavelets on spaces of homogeneous type, the authors introduce a new kind of approximations of the identity with exponential decay (for short, $\exp$-ATI). Via such an $\exp$-ATI, motivated by another creative idea of Y. Han et al. to merge the aforementioned orthonormal bases of regular wavelets into the frame of the existed distributional theory on spaces of homogeneous type, the authors estab…
In this paper, we study the boundedness theory for maximal Calderón-Zygmund operators acting on noncommutative $L_p$-spaces. Our first result is a criterion for the weak type $(1,1)$ estimate of noncommutative maximal Calderón-Zygmund operators; as an application, we obtain the weak type $(1,1)$ estimates of operator-valued maximal singular integrals of convolution type under proper {regularity} conditions. These are the {\it first} noncommutative maximal inequalities for families of linear operators that can not be reduced to positive ones. For homogeneous singular integrals, the strong type …
Calderón-Zygmund theory has been traditionally developed on metric measure spaces satisfying additional regularity properties. In the lack of good metrics, we introduce a new approach for general measure spaces which admit a Markov semigroup satisfying purely algebraic assumptions. We shall construct an abstract form of "Markov metric" governing the Markov process and the naturally associated BMO spaces, which interpolate with the Lp-scale and admit endpoint inequalities for Calderón-Zygmund operators. Motivated by noncommutative harmonic analysis, this approach gives the first form of Calderó…
In this work we generalize the spaces T^{p}_{u} introduced by Calderón and Zygmund using a pointwise version of conditions defining the generalized Besov spaces and give conditions binding the functions belonging to these spaces and the wavelet coefficients of such functions. Next, we propose a multifractal formalism based on the new spaces wich generalize the so-called wavelet leaders method and show that it is satisfied on a prevalent set.
In this paper, we establish the core of singular integral theory and pseudodifferential calculus over the archetypal algebras of noncommutative geometry: quantum forms of Euclidean spaces and tori. Our results go beyond Connes' pseudodifferential calculus for rotation algebras, thanks to a new form of Calderón-Zygmund theory over these spaces which crucially incorporates nonconvolution kernels. We deduce $L_p$-boundedness and Sobolev $p$-estimates for regular, exotic and forbidden symbols in the expected ranks. In the $L_2$ level both Calderón-Vaillancourt and Bourdaud theorems for exotic and …
In this paper we solve three problems in noncommutative harmonic analysis which are related to endpoint inequalities for singular integrals. In first place, we prove that an $L_2$-form of Hörmander's kernel condition suffices for the weak type (1,1) of Calderón-Zygmund operators acting on matrix-valued functions. To that end, we introduce an improved CZ decomposition for martingale filtrations in von Neumann algebras, and apply a very simple unconventional argument which notably avoids pseudolocalization. In second place, we establish as well the weak $L_1$ endpoint for matrix-valued CZ operat…
In this note we show that the general theory of vector valued singular integral operators of Calderón-Zygmund defined on general metric measure spaces, can be applied to obtain Sobolev type regularity properties for solutions of the dyadic fractional Laplacian. In doing so, we define partial derivatives in terms of Haar multipliers and dyadic homogeneous singular integral operators.
The modern study of singular integral operators on curves in the plane began in the 1970's. Since then, there has been a vast array of work done on the boundedness of singular integral operators defined on lower dimensional sets in Euclidean spaces. In recent years, mathematicians have attempted to push these results into a more general metric setting particularly in the case of singular integral operators defined on curves and graphs in Carnot groups. Suppose $X = Y^*$ for a separable Banach space $Y$. Any separable metric space can be isometrically embedded in such a Banach space via the Kur…
