The CP-violating phenomenology of the MSSM with Minimal Flavor Violation (MFV) in the lepton sector is revisited. To this end, the most general parametrizations of the slepton soft-breaking terms are constructed assuming a seesaw mechanism of type I. After a critical reassessment of how the CP-symmetry is broken within the MFV framework, all possible CP-violating phases are introduced. From the strong hierarchy of their contributions to the Electric Dipole Moments (EDMs), these phases are split into three classes: flavor-blind, flavor-diagonal and flavor off-diagonal. In particular, the phases from the neutrino sector belong to the last class; they start to contribute only at the second order in the mass-insertion approximation and have thus a negligible effect. It is then shown that to each class of phases corresponds a unique largely dominant term in the MFV expansion. Numerically, for a realistic range of MSSM and neutrino parameters, such that B(mu --> e gamma) does not exceed its experimental bound, the three types of phases are found to be allowed by the current bound on the electron EDM, though the next generation of experiments should constrain tightly the flavor-blind phase. Finally, we relax the MFV hypothesis and show how in the general MSSM, the MFV operator basis can be used to judge of the naturality of the slepton soft-breaking terms.

We study one-loop contributions to the fermion electric dipole moments in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with explicit R-parity violating interactions. We obtain new individual bounds on R-parity violating Yukawa couplings and put more stringent limits on certain parameters than those obtained previously.
The possibility to measure an electric dipole moment (EDM) of nuclei in the range $10^{-27} ÷10^{-32}$ $e \cdot cm$ in experiments for search of time-reversal violating generation of magnetic and electric fields is discussed.
In the supersymmetric model with local gauged baryon and lepton numbers(BLMSSM), the CP violating effects are considered to study the lepton electric dipole moment(EDM). The CP violating phases in BLMSSM are more than those in the standard model(SM) and can give large contributions. The analysis of the EDMs for the leptons $e,μ, τ$ is shown in this work. It is in favour of exploring the source of CP violation and probing the physics beyond SM.
We analyze contributions to the electric dipole (EDM) and Schiff (SFM) moments of deuteron induced by the CP-violating three-pseudoscalar meson couplings using phenomenological Lagrangian approach involving nucleons and pseudoscalar mesons $P=π, K, η, η'$. Deuteron is considered as a proton-neutron bound state and its properties are defined by one- and two-body forces. One-body forces correspond to a picture there proton and neutron are quasi free constituents of deuteron and their contribution to the deuteron EDM (dEDM) is simply the sum of proton and neutron EDMs. Two-body forces in deuteron…
An analysis of the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron and of the leptons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with the most general allowed set of CP violating phases without generational mixing is given. The analysis includes the contributions from the gluino, the chargino and the neutralino exchanges to the electric dipole operator, the chromoelectic dipole operator, and the CP violating purely gluonic dimension six operator. It is found that the EDMs depend only on certain combination of the CP phases. The independent set of such phases is classified. The analysis of…
We establish a link between an angle of the neutron polarization rotation in a crystal diffraction experiment and constants of the P-,T- violating interactions. The consideration applies to the energy range of thermal and resonance neutrons.
The electric dipole moment (EDM) of an atom could arise also from $P$-odd and $T$-odd electron-nucleon couplings. In this work we investigate a general class of dimension-$6$ electron-nucleon ($e$-$N$) nonminimal interactions mediated by Lorentz-violating (LV) tensors of rank ranging from $1$ to $4$. The possible couplings are listed as well as their behavior under $C$, $P$ and $T$, allowing us to select the couplings compatible with EDM physics. The unsuppressed contributions of these couplings to the atom's Hamiltonian can be read as EDM-equivalent. The LV coefficients' magnitudes are limite…
The Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (NMSSM) features extra new sources for CP violation. In contrast to the MSSM CP violation can already occur at tree level in the Higgs sector. We investigate the range of possible allowed CP-violating phases by taking into account the constraints arising from the measurements of the Electric Dipole Moments (EDMs) and the latest LHC Higgs data. Our analysis shows that large CP-violating phases, that are NMSSM-specific, are not in conflict with the EDMs. They are dominantly constrained by the Higgs data in this case. We use our r…
We use the present upper bound on the neutron electric dipole moment to give an estimate for the upper limit of the CP-violating couplings of the $η(η')$ meson to the neutron. Using this result, we derive constraints on the CP-violating two-pion decays of the $η(η')$. Our results are relevant for the running and planned GlueX and LHCb measurements of rare meson decays.
It is shown that in the experiments for search of EDM of an electron (atom, molecule) the T-odd magnetic moment induced by an electric field and the T-odd electric dipole moment induced by a magnetic field will be also measured. It is discussed how to distinguish these contributions.
Precision flavor experiments can look for the QCD axion complementarily to usual searches with axion helio- and haloscopes, allowing to test PQ breaking scales as high as $10^{12} \, {\rm GeV}$. Such searches are sensitive to flavor-violating axion couplings, which are generic and potentially sizable whenever SM fermions carry flavor non-universal PQ charges. A particularly predictive scenario is obtained when PQ is identified with the simplest FN flavor symmetry, so that all flavor-violating axion couplings are related to Yukawa hierarchies, up to ${\cal O}(1)$ coefficients.
We calculate the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutral Hg(199) atom, deuteron, nucleons and neutral hyperons Lambda, Sigma(0) and Xi(0) in the framework of a generic SUSY model without R-parity conservation (RPV SUSY) on the basis of the SU(3) version of chiral perturbation theory (ChPT). We consider CP-violation in the hadronic sector induced by the chromoelectric quark dipole moments and CP-violating 4-quark effective interactions. From the null experimental results on the neutron and Hg(199) atom EDMs we derive limits on the imaginary parts of certain products Im(lambda' lambda'*) of…
We study a model for leptogenesis in which the total CP asymmetries in the decays and scatterings involving the SU(2) singlet seesaw neutrinos $N_α$ vanish ($ε_{N_α}=0$). Leptogenesis is possible due to non-vanishing CP violating lepton flavor asymmetries, realizing a situation in which the baryon asymmetry is due exclusively to flavor effects. We study the production of a net lepton asymmetry by solving the Boltzmann equations specific to this model, and we show that successful leptogenesis can be obtained at a scale as low as the TeV. We also discuss constraints on the model parameter space …
We calculate the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutral Hg(199) atom, neutron and deuteron within a generic R-parity violating SUSY model (RPV SUSY) on the basis of a one-pion exchange model with CP-odd pion-nucleon interactions. We consider two types of the RPV SUSY contributions to the above hadronic EDMs: via the quark chromoelectric dipole moments (CEDM) and CP-violating 4-quark interactions. We demonstrate that the former contributes to all the three studied EDMs while the latter appears only in the nuclear EDMs via the CP-odd nuclear forces. We find that the RPV SUSY induced 4-quar…
We explore lepton-flavored electroweak baryogenesis, driven by CP-violation in leptonic Yukawa sector, using the $τ-μ$ system in the two Higgs doublet model as an example. This setup generically yields, together with the flavor-changing decay $h\to τμ$, a tree-level Jarlskog-invariant that can drive dynamical generation of baryon asymmetry during a first-order electroweak phase transition and results in CP-violating effect in the decay $h\to ττ$. We find that the observed baryon asymmetry can be generated in parameter space compatible with current experimental results for the decays $h\to τμ$,…
In this paper, the flavor structure of quark and lepton EDMs in the SM and beyond is investigated using tools inspired from Minimal Flavor Violation. While Jarlskog-like flavor invariants are adequate for estimating CP-violation from closed fermion loops, non-invariant structures arise from rainbow-like processes. Our goal is to systematically construct these latter flavor structures in the quark and lepton sectors, assuming different mechanisms for generating neutrino masses. Numerically, they are found typically much larger, and not necessarily correlated with, Jarlskog-like invariants. Fina…
Electric dipole moments of atoms can arise from P-odd and T-odd electron--nucleon couplings. This work studies a general class of dimension-six electron--nucleon interactions mediated by Lorentz-violating tensors of ranks ranging from $1$ to $4$. The possible couplings are listed as well as their behavior under C, P, and T, allowing us to select the couplings compatible with electric-dipole-moment physics. The unsuppressed contributions of these couplings to the atom's hamiltonian can be read as equivalent to an electric dipole moment. The Lorentz-violating coefficients' magnitudes are limited…
Within the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), the large tan(beta) regime can lead to important modifications in the pattern of CP-violating sources contributing to low energy electric dipole moments (EDMs). In particular, four-fermion CP-violating interactions induced by Higgs exchange should be accounted for alongside the constituent EDMs of quarks and electrons. To this end, we present a comprehensive analysis of three low energy EDM observables - namely the EDMs of thallium, mercury and the neutron - at large tan(beta), in terms of one- and two-loop contributions to the constitue…
We present the full result for the down squark mass-squared matrix in the complete theory of supersymmetry without R-parity where all kind of R-parity violating terms are admitted without bias. An optimal parametrization, the single-VEV parametrization, is used. The major result is a new contribution to $LR$ squark mixing, involving both bilinear and trilinear R-parity violating couplings. Among other things, the latter leads to neutron electric dipole moment at one-loop level. Similiar mechanism leading to electron electric dipole moment at the same level. We present here a short report on ma…
In the standard model (SM), lepton flavor violating (LFV) Higgs decay is absent at renormalizable level and thus it is a good probe to new physics. In this article we study a type of new physics that could lead to large LFV Higgs decay, i.e., a lepton-flavored dark matter (DM) model which is specified by a Majorana DM and scalar lepton mediators. Different from other similar models with similar setup, we introduce both left-handed and right-handed scalar leptons. They allow large LFV Higgs decay and thus may explain the tentative Br$(h\raτμ)\sim1\%$ experimental results from the LHC. In partic…
Phenomenological studies of Flavored Dark Matter (FDM) models often have to assume a near-diagonal flavor structure in the coupling matrix in order to remain consistent with bounds from flavor violating processes. In this paper we show that for Lepton FDM, such a structure can naturally arise from an extra dimensional setup. The extra dimension is taken to be flat, with the dark matter and mediator fields confined to a brane on one end of the extra dimension, and the Higgs field to a brane on the other end. The Standard Model fermion and gauge fields are the zero modes of corresponding bulk fi…
We investigate the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment (MDM), the muon electric dipole moment (EDM) and the lepton-flavour-violating decays of the $τ-$lepton, $τ\to μγ$ and $τ\to 3μ$, in the CP-violating Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with nonuniversal soft-supersymmetry breaking. We evaluate numerically the muon EDM and the branching ratios $B(τ\to μγ)$ and $B(τ\to 3μ)$, after taking into account the experimental constraints from the electron EDM and muon MDM. Upon imposition of the experimental limits on our theoretical predictions for the aforementioned branching ratios and …
We study the anatomy and phenomenology of Lepton Flavor Violation (LFV) in the context of Flavored Gauge Mediation (FGM). Within FGM, the messenger sector couples directly to the MSSM matter fields with couplings controlled by the same dynamics that explains the hierarchies in the SM Yukawas. Although the pattern of flavor violation depends on the particular underlying flavor model, FGM provides a built-in flavor suppression similar to wave function renormalization or SUSY Partial Compositeness. Moreover, in contrast to these models, there is an additional suppression of left-right (LR) flavor…
We complete our derivation of upper limits on the CP violating $ηππ$ and $η'ππ$ couplings from an analysis of their two-loop contributions to the neutron electric dipole moment (nEDM). We use a phenomenological Lagrangian approach which is formulated in terms of hadronic degrees of freedom - nucleons and pseudoscalar mesons. The essential part of the Lagrangian contains the CP violating couplings between $η(η')$ and pions. Previously, we included photons using minimal substitution in case of the proton and charged pions. Now we extend our Lagrangian by adding the nonminimal couplings, i.e. ano…
The minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM) is extended to the $U(1)_X$SSM, whose local gauge group is $SU(3)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y \times U(1)_X$. To obtain the $U(1)_X$SSM, we add the new superfields to the MSSM, namely: three Higgs singlets $\hatη,~\hat{\barη},~\hat{S}$ and right-handed neutrinos $\hatν_i$. The CP violating effects are considered to study the lepton electric dipole moment(EDM) in $U(1)_X$SSM. The CP violating phases in $U(1)_X$SSM are more than those in the standard model(SM). In this model, some new parameters $(θ_S, θ_{BB^{\prime}}, θ_{BL})$…
We analyze the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model with explicit R-parity violating terms. The leading contribution to the EDM occurs at the 2-loop level and is dominated by the chromoelectric dipole moments of quarks, assuming there is no tree-level mixings between sleptons and Higgs bosons or between leptons and gauginos. Based on the experimental constraint on the neutron EDM, we set limits on the imaginary parts of complex couplings ${λ'}_{ijk}$ and $λ_{ijk}$ due to the virtual b-loop or tau-loop.
We reexamine the R-parity violating contribution to the fermion electric and chromo-electric dipole moments (EDM and cEDM) in the two-loop diagrams. It is found that the leading Barr-Zee type two-loop contribution is smaller than the result found in previous works, and that EDM experimental data provide looser limits on RPV couplings.
The electric dipole moments (EDMs) of heavy nuclei, such as 199Hg, 225Ra and 211Rn, can be enhanced by the Schiff moments induced by the presence of nearby parity-doublet states. Working within the framework of the maximally CP-violating and minimally flavour-violating (MCPMFV) version of the MSSM, we discuss the maximal values that such EDMs might attain, given the existing experimental constraints on the Thallium, neutron and Mercury EDMs. The maximal EDM values of the heavy nuclei are obtained with the help of a differential-geometrical approach proposed recently that enables the maxima of …
We discuss constraints on soft CP-violating couplings of axion-like particles with photon and fermions by using data on electric dipole moments of Standard Model particles. In particular, for the ALP leptophilic scenario we derive bounds on CP-odd ALP-photon-photon coupling from data of the {\tt ACME} Collaboration on electron EDM. We also discuss prospects of the Storage Ring experiment to constrain the ALP-photon-photon coupling from data on proton EDM for the simplified hadrophilic interactions of ALP. The regarding constraints from experimental bounds on the muon and neutron EDMs are weak.…
The question of CP violating phases in supersymmetry and electric dipole moments (EDMs) is considered within the framework of supergravity grand unification (GUT) models with a light ($\stackrel{<}{\sim}$1 TeV) mass spectrum. In the minimal model, the nearness of the t-quark Landau pole automatically suppresses the t-quark cubic soft breaking phase at the electroweak scale. However, current EDM data require the quadratic soft breaking phase to be small at the electroweak scale unless tan$β$ is small (tan$β\stackrel{<}{\sim}$3), and the EDM data combined with the requirement of electroweak symm…
The supersymmetric standard model (SSM) has a CP-violating phase in its gauge-Higgs sector. This new source of CP violation induces the electric dipole moments (EDMs) of the neutron and electron at the one-loop level. The same CP-violating phase generates the EDM of the $W$ boson through one-loop diagrams mediated by the charginos and neutralinos, which leads to the EDMs of the neutron and electron at the two-loop level. We discuss these EDMs, assuming that the CP-violating phase has the magnitude of order 0.1--1 which may be suggested from the baryon asymmetry of the universe. Even at the two…
We analyze the constraints on a CP-violating, flavor conserving, two Higgs doublet model from the measurements of Higgs properties and from the search for heavy Higgs bosons at LHC, and show that the stronger limits typically come from the heavy Higgs search channels. The limits on CP violation arising from the Higgs sector measurements are complementary to those from EDM measurements. Combining all current constraints from low energy to colliders, we set generic upper bounds on the CP violating angle which parametrizes the CP odd component in the 126 GeV Higgs boson.
Considering the CP violating phases, we analyze the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) in a CP violating supersymmetric extension of the standard model where baryon and lepton numbers are local gauge symmetries(BLMSSM). The contributions from the one loop diagrams and the Weinberg operators are taken into account. Adopting some assumptions on the relevant parameter space, we give the numerical results analysis. The numerical results for neutron EDM can reach $1.05\times 10^{-25}(e.cm)$, which is about the experimental upper limit.
We present a detailed study of the Thallium, neutron, Mercury and deuteron electric dipole moments (EDMs) in the CP-violating Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM). We take into account the complete set of one-loop graphs, the dominant Higgs-mediated two-loop diagrams, the complete CP-odd dimension-six Weinberg operator and the Higgs-mediated four-fermion operators. We improve upon earlier calculations by including the resummation effects due to CP-violating Higgs-boson mixing and to threshold corrections to the Yukawa couplings of all up- and down-type quarks and charg…
CP violation from physics beyond the Standard Model may reside in triple boson vertices of the electroweak theory. We review the effective theory description and discuss how CP violating contributions to these vertices might be discerned by electric dipole moments (EDM) or diboson production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Despite triple boson CP violating interactions entering EDMs only at the two-loop level, we find that EDM experiments are generally more powerful than the diboson processes. To give example to these general considerations we perform the comparison between EDMs and collid…
In a bent crystal the $P$-odd effect of short-lived baryon spin rotation could imitate spin rotation caused by assumed EDM. Use of different behavior of $P$-odd and $T$-odd spin rotations at crystal turning around the direction of particle momentum makes it possible to exclude $P$-odd rotation contribution, when measuring short-lived baryons EDM. Subtraction of the measurement results for angle ranges $φ$ and $φ+ π$ from each other enables measuring $T$-odd rotation at scattering of negatively charged beauty and neutral baryons by axes of unbent crystal.
We present a detailed analysis of the neutron, deuteron and mercury electric dipole moment from supersymmetry without R parity, focusing on the quark-scalar loop contributions. Being proportional to top Yukawa and top mass, such contributions are often large. Analytical expressions illustrating the explicit role of the R-parity violating parameters are given following perturbative diagonalization of mass-squared matrices for the scalars. Dominant contributions come from the combinations $B_i λ^{\prime}_{ij1}$ for which we obtain robust bounds. It turns out that neutron and deuteron EDMs receiv…
The contribution of the R-parity violating minimal supersymmetric Standard model (RPVMSSM) at the one-loop level to the 199Hg atomic electric dipole moment (EDM) through P, CP-odd electron-nucleon (e-N) interaction is calculated. We show that the current experimental data of the 199Hg EDM give tighter constraints on some of the imaginary parts of R-parity violating (RPV) coupling than those currently known. We add also the analysis of the P, CP-odd 4-quark interaction generated by R-parity violating interactions at the one-loop level, and discuss the possibility to constrain them in future exp…
Experiments with paramagnetic ground or metastable excited states of molecules (ThO, HfF$^+$, YbF, YbOH, BaF, PbO, etc.) provide strong constraints on electron electric dipole moment (EDM) and coupling constant $C_{SP}$ of contact semileptonic interaction. We compute new contributions to $C_{SP}$ arising from the nucleon EDMs due to combined electric and magnetic electron-nucleon interaction. This allows us to improve limits from the experiments with paramagnetic molecules on the $CP$-violating parameters, such as the proton EDM, $|d_p|< 1.1\times 10^{-23} e\cdot $cm, the QCD vacuum angle, $|\…
The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model can possess several CP-violating phases beyond the conventional Cabibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase. We calculate the contribution of these phases to T-violating nuclear forces. These forces induce a Schiff moment in the $^{199}$Hg nucleus, which is strongly limited by experiments aimed at the detection of the electric dipole moment of the mercury atom. The result for $d_{Hg}$ is found to be very sensitive to the CP-violating phases of the MSSM and the calculation carries far fewer QCD uncertainties than the corresponding calculation of the neutron EDM. In …
We present a detailed analysis together with numerical calculations on one-loop contributions to the neutron electric dipole moment from supersymmetry without R parity, focusing on the quark-scalar loop contributions. Complete formulas are given for the various contributions through the quark dipole operators. Analytical expressions illustrating the explicit role of the R-parity violating parameters are given following perturbative diagonalization of mass-squared matrices for the scalars. Dominant contributions come from the combinations $B_i^{\ast} λ^{\prime}_{ij1}$ for which we obtain robust…
In the context of an atom endowed with nuclear electric dipole moment (EDM), we consider the effects on the Schiff moment of $CPT$-even Lorentz-violating (LV) terms that modify the Coulomb potential. First, we study the modifications on the Schiff moment when the nucleus interacts with the electronic cloud by means of a Coulomb potential altered only by the $P$-even LV components. Next, by supposing the existence of an additional intrinsic LV EDM generated by other LV sources, we assess the corrections to the Schiff moment when the interaction nucleus-electrons runs mediated by a Coulomb poten…
Type-II seesaw is a simple scenario in which Majorana neutrino masses are generated by the exchange of a heavy scalar electroweak triplet. When endowed with additional heavy fields, such as right-handed neutrinos or extra triplets, it also provides a compelling framework for baryogenesis via leptogenesis. We derive in this context the full network of Boltzmann equations for studying leptogenesis in the flavored regime. To this end we determine the relations which hold among the chemical potentials of the various particle species in the thermal bath. This takes into account the SM Yukawa intera…
In this talk, we motivate the calculation of the matrix elements of novel CP violating operators, the quark EDM and the quark chromo EDM operators, within the nucleon state using lattice QCD. These matrix elements, combined with the bound on the neutron EDM, would provide stringent constraints on beyond the standard model physics, especially as the next generation of neutron EDM experiments reduce the current bound. We then present our lattice strategy for the calculation of these matrix elements, in particular we describe the use of the Schrödinger source method to reduce the calculation of t…
We demonstrate that in effective theories arising from a class of N=1 fluxless compactifications of M-theory on a G2 manifold with low energy supersymmetry, CP-violating phases do not appear in the soft-breaking Lagrangian except via the Yukawas appearing in the trilinear parameters. Such a mechanism may be present in other string compactifications as well; we describe properties sufficient for this to occur. CP violation is generated via the Yukawas since the soft trilinear matrices are generically not proportional to the Yukawa matrices. Within the framework considered, the estimated theoret…
We analyze the constraints placed on individual, flavor diagonal CP-violating phases in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) by current experimental bounds on the electric dipole moments (EDMs) of the neutron, Thallium, and Mercury atoms. We identify the four CP-violating phases that are individually highly constrained by current EDM bounds, and we explore how these phases and correlations among them are constrained by current EDM limits. We also analyze the prospective implications of the next generation of EDM experiments. We point out that all other CP-violating…
We analyze CP-violating effects in both Electric Dipole Moment (EDM) measurements and future analyses at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) assuming a Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) with "soft" CP-violation. Our analysis of EDMs and current LHC constraints shows that, in the case of a 2HDM Type II and Type III, an $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ CP-violating phase in the Yukawa interaction between $H_1$ (the $125~\textrm{GeV}$ Higgs boson) and fermions is still allowed. For these scenarios, we study CP-violating effects in the neutron EDM and $t\bar{t}H_1$ production at the LHC. Our analysis shows that such a…
Minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation (RPVMSSM) contributes to the P-, CP-odd four-quark interaction. The P-, CP-odd four-quark interaction is constrained by the new 199Hg EDM experimental data. It is then possible to constrain R-parity violating (RPV) couplings from the 199Hg EDM data. In this talk, we analyze the RPV contribution to the P-, CP-odd four- quark interaction at the one-loop level to give constraints on RPV parameters.
Heavy gauge bosons such as $W^{\prime}$ are expected to exist in many extensions of the Standard Model. In this paper, it is shown that the most general Lagrangian for the interaction of $W^{\prime}$ with top and bottom quarks which consists of V-A and V+A structure with in general complex couplings produces an Electric Dipole Moment (EDM) for the top quark at one loop level. We predict the allowed ranges for the mass and couplings of $W^{\prime}$ by using the upper limit on the top quark EDM.
We present benchmark points for LHC searches from flavored gauge mediation models, in which messenger-matter couplings give flavor-dependent squark masses. Our examples include spectra in which a single squark - stop, scharm, or sup - is much lighter than all other colored superpartners, motivating improved quark flavor tagging at the LHC. Many examples feature flavor mixing; in particular, large stop-scharm mixing is possible. The correct Higgs mass is obtained in some examples by virtue of the large stop A-term. We also revisit the general flavor and CP structure of the models. Even though t…
The constraint on the $R$-parity violating supersymmetric interactions is discussed in the light of current experimental data of the electric dipole moment of neutron, $^{129}$Xe , $^{205}$Tl, and $^{199}$Hg atoms, and YbF and ThO molecules. To investigate the constraints without relying upon the assumption of the dominance of a particular combination of couplings over all the rest, an extensive use is made of the linear programming method in the scan of the parameter space. We give maximally possible values for the EDMs of the proton, deuteron, $^3$He nucleus, $^{211}$Rn, $^{225}$Ra, $^{210}$…
A possible supersymmetric interpretation of the new Higgs-like 126 GeV resonance involves a high sfermion mass scale, from tens of TeV to a PeV or above. This scale provides sufficiently large loop corrections to the Higgs mass and can naturally resolve the constraints from flavor-violating observables, even with a generic flavor structure in the sfermion sector. We point out that such high scales could still generate CP-violating electric dipole moments (EDMs) at interesting levels due to the enhancement of left-right (LR) sfermion mixing. We illustrate this by saturating the light fermion ma…
The SM predictions for CP violating effects in D meson systems are highly suppressed at the per mill level. Therefore, any experimental evidence for a sizable CP violation in D0-D0bar mixing would unambiguously point towards a New Physics (NP) signal. Within supersymmetric scenarios, the popular alignment models can naturally account for large, non-standard effects in D0-D0bar mixing. We demonstrate that, within alignment models, detectable CP violating effects in D0-D0bar mixing would unambiguously imply a lower bound for the electric dipole moment (EDM) of hadronic systems, like the neutron …
We derive from first principles, using non-equilibrium field theory, the quantum Boltzmann equations that describe the dynamics of flavor oscillations, collisions, and a time-dependent mass matrix in the early universe. Working to leading non-trivial order in ratios of relevant time scales, we study in detail a toy model for weak scale baryogenesis: two scalar species that mix through a slowly varying time-dependent and CP-violating mass matrix, and interact with a thermal bath. This model clearly illustrates how the CP asymmetry arises through coherent flavor oscillations in a non-trivial bac…
We study general aspects of the CP-violating effects on the baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) and electric dipole moments (EDMs) in models extended by an extra Higgs doublet and a singlet, together with electroweak-interacting fermions. In particular, the emphasis is on the structure of the CP-violating interactions and dependences of the BAU and EDMs on masses of the relevant particles. In a concrete mode, we investigate a relationship between the BAU and the electron EDM for a typical parameter set. As long as the BAU-related CP violation predominantly exists, the electron EDM has a str…
