We discuss exclusive electromagnetic production of two neutral $ρ$ mesons in coherent photon-photon processes in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The cross section is calculated in the equivalent photon approximation (EPA). Both uncertainties of the flux factors and photon-photon cross sections are discussed in details. We show that inclusion of precise charge densities in nuclei is essential for realistic evaluations of the nuclear photon-photon cross sections. We find that the cross section, especially with realistic flux factors, is sensitive to low energy in the subsystem $γγ\to ρ^0 ρ^0$. The experimental data for the $γγ\to ρ^0 ρ^0$ cross section extracted from $e^+ e^-$ collisions are parametrized and used to estimate the nucleus-nucleus cross section. In addition, we include vector-dominance-model(VDM)--Regge contribution which becomes important at large photon-photon energy. Large nuclear cross sections are obtained. We discuss a possibility of focusing on the large-energy component. We find that both $ρ^0$ mesons are produced predominantly at midrapidities and could be measured by the STAR collaboration at RHIC.
Given Brown/Rho scaling we thought of the mesons which are observed in Nambu-Jona Lasinio theory as collective modes. The pi, sigma, rho and A_1, should go smoothly through T_c as the temperature rose, going massless as T comes to T_c.
The exclusive process e+ e- -> e+ e- rho^0_L rho^0_L allows to study various dynamics and factorization properties of perturbative QCD. At moderate energy, we demonstrate how collinear QCD factorization emerges, involving generalized distribution amplitudes (GDA) and transition distribution amplitudes (TDA). At higher energies, in the Regge limit of QCD, we show that it offers a promising probe of the BFKL resummation effects to be studied at the International Linear Collider (ILC).
The exclusive process e+ e- -> e+ e-rho0_L rho0_L allows to study various dynamics and factorization properties of perturbative QCD. At moderate energy, we demonstrate how collinear QCD factorization emerges, involving either generalized distribution amplitudes (GDA) or transition distribution amplitudes (TDA). At higher energies, in the Regge limit of QCD, we show that it offers a promising probe of the BFKL resummation effects to be studied at ILC.
We compare the contributions from quark and from gluon exchange to the exclusive process gamma* p -> rho0 p. We present evidence that the gluon contribution is substantial for values of the Bjorken variable xB around 0.1.
We describe hard exclusive processes involving a transversally polarized rho meson in the twist 3 approximation, in a framework based on the Taylor expansion of the amplitude around the dominant light-cone direction.
We discuss the interpretation of the $ep\to epρ^0$ process in terms of, on the one hand, Generalized Parton Distributions and, on the other hand, an effective hadronic model based on Regge theory.
We calculate the Born order cross-section for the exclusive production of rho meson pairs in e+e- scattering in the Regge limit of QCD and we show the feasibility of the measurement of this process at the ILC. We also investigate the leading and next-to-leading order BFKL evolution, making this process a very clean test of the BFKL resummation effects.
We use Omnes representations of the form factors V, A_1 and A_2 for exclusive semileptonic B--> rho decays, and apply them to combine experimental partial branching fraction information with theoretical calculations of the three form factors to extract |Vub|. We find a slightly lower result, |Vub|=(2.8 +- 0.2)x 10^{-3}, than the values extracted from exclusive semileptonic B-->pi decays and using all other inputs in CKM fits. The disagreement is greater when we compare to the result extracted from inclusive B -> X_u l nu decays.
The double-lepton polarization asymmetries in (B -> rho l^+ l^-) decay is analyzed in a model independent framework. The general expressions for nine double-polarization asymmetries are calculated. It is shown that the study of the double-lepton polarization asymmetries proves to be very useful tool in looking for new physics beyond the standard model.
The photonuclear production of vector mesons in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions is investigated within the collinear approach using different parameterizations for the nuclear gluon distribution. The integrated cross section and the rapidity distribution for the $AA \to V AA$ ($V = J/Ψ, Υ$) process are computed for energies of RHIC and LHC. A comparison with the recent PHENIX data on coherent production of $J/Ψ$ mesons is also presented. We demonstrate that the study of the exclusive quarkonium photoproduction can be used to constrain the nuclear effects in the gluon distribution.
The polarized lepton pair forward-backward asymmetries in (B -> rho l^+ l^-) decay using a general, model independent form of the effective Hamiltonian is studied. The general expression for nine double-polarization forward-backward asymmetries are calculated. The study of the forward-backward asymmetries of the doubly-polarized lepton pair proves to be very useful tool in looking for new physics beyond the standard model.
We present predictions for the J/psi and rho meson production in the heavy ion ultraperipheral collisions (UPC) for the current energy 2.76 TeV at the LHC. Both total cross sections and cross sections with the neutron emission from one or both nuclei are presented. We also analyse the RHIC rho meson photoproduction data and emphasize importance of these data to test the current model for nucleus break up in UPC.
Exclusive processes in hard electroproduction is one of the best place for understanding the factorization properties of QCD. The HERA experiment recently provided precise data for rho electroproduction, including all spin density matrix elements. From QCD, it is expected that such a process should factorize between a hard (calculable) coefficient function, and hadronic (p and rho) matrix elements. Such a factorization is up to now only proven for a longitudinaly polarized rho. Within the kt-factorization approach (valid at large s_{gamma* p}), we evaluate the impact factor of the transition g…
The process of exclusive vector meson production (gamma gamma to J/psi rho^0) is studied for almost real photons. This process may be reduced to photoproduction of J/psi off the rho^0 meson. We discuss the possibility of extracting the gluon distribution of rho^0 and of the photon from such measurement. Predictions are also given for the reaction (e+e- to e+ e- J/psi rho^0) for various e+e- cms energies typical for LEP and for the future linear colliders.
We evaluate differential distributions for the four-body $p p \to n n π^+ π^+$ reaction. The amplitude for the process is calculated in the Regge approach including many diagrams. We make predictions for possible future experiments at RHIC and LHC energies. Very large cross sections are found which is partially due to interference of a few mechanisms. Presence of several interfering mechanisms precludes extraction of the elastic $π^+ π^+$ scattering cross section. Absorption effects are estimated. Differential distributions in pseudorapidity, rapidity, invariant two-pion mass, transverse-momen…
We investigate the exclusive B -> pi e^+ e^- and B -> rho e^+ e^- decays in framework of the general two Higgs doublet model (model III), in which an extra phase angle in the charged--Higgs fermion coupling, i.e., a new source for CP violation exists. The CP violation for both decays are calculated and it is observed that the CP violating asymmetry in model III differs significantly than the one predicted by the standard model and model II which is a special case of model III. Furthermore, it is shown that the zero value of forward backward asymmetry A_{FB} is shifted when compared with the SM…
Exclusive processes in hard electroproduction are one of the best place for understanding QCD in view of its factorization properties. In particular, in the limit of asymptotic gamma* p center of mass energy, they give an access to the perturbative Regge properties of QCD. The HERA experiment recently provided precise data for rho electroproduction, including all spin density matrix elements. From QCD, it is expected that such a process should factorize between a hard (calculable) coefficient function, and hadronic (p and rho) matrix elements. Such a factorization is up to now only proven for …
Exclusive electroproduction of vector mesons is a crucial way to probe QCD factorization properties. Such a factorization is up to now only proven, at the twist 2 level, for a longitudinaly polarized meson. It is crucial to extend our understanding to the case of transversely polarized vector mesons. As a first step in this direction, we evaluate the impact factor of the transition gamma* -> rhoT, which is the relevant part of the amplitude within the kt-factorization approach valid at large energies, taking into account the twist 3 contributions, coming both from quark antiquark and from quar…
We study the photoproduction of exclusive $2π^+2π^-$ mesons in ultra-peripheral heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies. Predictions in photon-nucleus interactions are calculated for various resonances at central and forward rapidities. The recent H1 preliminary data are utilized to improve the description of the poorly known $γp \to 4π^\pm p$ process. We present the comparisons of our results to the available STAR data at RHIC, and made predictions for LHC energies.
As a sequel to the calculation of the CP-violating asymmetry in the decay rates of b -> d l^+l^- and \bar{b} -> \bar{d} l^+l^-, we address in this paper the asymmetry in exclusive channels \bar{B} -> pi e^+e^- and \bar{B} -> rho e^+e^-, using form factors from two different models. In the invariant mass region 1GeV < \sqrt{s} < M_{J/psi}, the partial width asymmetry in the channel \bar{B} -> pi is -6% (-2%), and that in the channel \bar{B} -> rho, for one choice of form factors, is -5% (-2%), assuming CKM parameters eta = 0.34, rho = 0.3 (-0.3). We also calculate the forward-backward asymmetry…
We describe a consistent approach to factorization of scattering amplitudes for exclusive processes beyond the leading twist approximation. The method involves the Taylor expansion of the scattering amplitude in the momentum space around the dominant light-cone direction and thus naturally introduces an appropriate set of non-perturbative correlators which encode effects not only of the lowest but also of the higher Fock states of the produced particle. The reduction of original set of correlators to a set of independent ones is achieved with the help of equations of motion and invariance of t…
Exclusive emissions of vector mesons in forward directions of rapidity offer us a faultless chance to probe the proton structure at small-$x$. A high-energy factorization formula is established within BFKL, given as the convolution of an impact factor depicting the forward-meson emission and of an unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD) driving the gluon evolution at small-$x$. As a nonperturbative quantity, the UGD is not well known and several models for it exist. We present recent progresses on the study of the exclusive forward $ρ$-meson leptoproduction at HERA and EIC energies, showing how …
We re-examine the issue of the pQCD factorization scale in the exclusive rho production in diffractive DIS from the k_t-factorization point of view. We find that this scale differs significantly from, and possesses much flatter Q^2 behavior than widely used value (Q^2 + m_ρ^2)/4. With these results in mind, we discuss the Q^2 shape of the rho meson production cross section. We introduce rescaled cross sections, which might provide further insight into the dynamics of rho production. We also comment on the recent ZEUS observation of energy-independent ratio sigma(gamma* p --> rho p) / sigma_{to…
We study the Central Exclusive Production (CEP) of chi_cJ and eta_c mesons at RHIC in proton-proton collisions. We consider the chi_cJ --> J/psi + gamma decay channels and, recalling that the J_z=0 suppression of the J=1,2 states can be compensated by their larger branchings to J/psi + gamma, present predictions of rates and distributions for chi_c(0,1,2) production. Particular attention is paid to the impact of p_t cuts applied to the outgoing protons, which can influence the relative rates significantly. The distribution in the azimuthal angle difference between the outgoing protons and the …
Recent small-t ZEUS data for exclusive rho photoproduction are in excellent agreement with exchange of the classical soft pomeron with slope alpha'=0.25 GeV^{-2}. Adding in a flavour-blind hard-pomeron contribution, whose magnitude is calculated from the data for exclusive J/psi photoproduction, gives a good fit also to the ZEUS data for rho photoproduction at larger values of t, and to phi photoproduction.
We calculate several differential distributions for exclusive double diffractive $χ_c(0^{++})$ production in proton-antiproton collisions at the Tevatron and in proton-proton collisions at RHIC and LHC in terms of unintegrated gluon distributions (UGDFs) within the $k_t$-factorisation approach. The uncertainties of the Khoze-Martin-Ryskin approach are discussed in detail. The $g^* g^* \to χ_c(0^{++})$ transition vertex is calculated as a function of gluon virtualities applying the standard pNRQCD technique. The off-shell effects are discussed and quantified. They lead to a reduction of the cro…
We investigate the radiative B_c -> rho^+ gamma and B_c -> K^{*+} gamma decays in the standard model. The transition form factors are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules method. We estimate the branching ratios of the B_c -> rho^+ gamma and B_c -> K^{*+} gamma decays.
A Pomeron-exchange model of exclusive electroproduction of $ρ$-mesons is examined using a dressed-quark propagator. It is shown that by representing the photon-$ρ$-meson-Pomeron coupling by a nonperturbative, confined-quark loop, one obtains predictions for $ρ$-meson electroproduction that are in good agreement with experiment.
We calculate the exclusive process gamma* gamma* ->rho rho at high energy. The Born order estimate and the leading (LLA) and next to leading order (NLLA) BFKL resummation effects show the feasibility of experimental detection in a quite large range of Q2 values at future high energy e+e- linear colliders.
We fitted the pi-pi mass distribution in the range 0.5 < mpipi < 1.1 GeV measured in hard exclusive positron-proton reactions at HERA by the form dictated by QCD at leading twist level. Extracted parameters are related to valence quark distribution in the pion, and to the pion and rho meson distribution amplitudes. We obtain, for the first time, a measurement of the second Gegenbauer coefficient of the rho meson distribution amplitude: $a_2^{(ρ)}= -0.10\pm 0.20 $ for a photon virtuality of <Q^2>=21.2 GeV^2.
We apply a previously developed scheme to consistently include the twist-3 distribution amplitudes for transversely polarized rho meson in order to evaluate, in the framework of kT factorization, the helicity amplitudes for exclusive leptoproduction of a light vector meson, at leading order in alphaS. We compare our results with high energy experimental data for the ratios of helicity amplitudes T11/T00 and T01/T00 and get a good description of the data.
Exclusive rho0 electroproduction at HERA has been studied with the ZEUS detector, using 120 pb{-1} integrated luminosity, in the kinematic range of photon virtuality of 2 < Q2 < 160 GeV2, and gamma* p center-of-mass energy of 32 < W < 180 GeV. The results include the Q2 and W dependence of the gamma* p --> rho0 p cross section and the distribution of the squared-four-momentum transfer to the proton, t. Also included is the ratio of longitudinal to transverse gamma* p cross section as a function of Q2, W and t. Finally, the effective Pomeron trajectory was extracted. The results are compared to…
We present predictions on the total cross sections and on the ratio of the real part to the imaginary part of the elastic amplitude (rho parameter) for present and future pp and pbar p colliders, and on total cross sections for gamma p -> hadrons at cosmic-ray energies and for gamma gamma -> hadrons up to sqrt(s)=1 TeV. These predictions are based on a study of many possible analytic parametrisations and invoke the current hadronic dataset at t=0. The uncertainties on total cross sections, including the systematic theoretical errors, reach 1% at RHIC, 3% at the Tevatron, and 10% at the LHC, wh…
Ongoing experiments at JLAB investigate the nuclear transparency in exclusive rho0(770) electroproduction off nuclei. In this work we present transport model predictions for the attenuation of rho0s in nuclei and for color transparency (CT) effects as observable at CLAS with a 5 GeV electron beam energy. A full event simulation presented here permits to study the impact of actual experimental acceptance conditions and kinematical cuts. The exclusive (e,e'rho0) cross section off nucleons is described by diffractive and color string breaking mechanisms extended toward the onset of the deep inela…
We present predictions on the total cross sections and on the ratio of the real part to the imaginary part of the elastic amplitude (rho parameter) for present and future pp and pbar p colliders, and on total cross sections for gamma p -> hadrons at cosmic-ray energies and for gamma gamma-> hadrons up to sqrt{s}=1 TeV. These predictions are based on an extensive study of possible analytic parametrisations invoking the biggest hadronic dataset available at t=0. The uncertainties on total cross sections, including the systematic errors due to contradictory data points from FNAL, can reach 1.9% a…
Recent developments in our description of RHIC and related heavy-ion phenomena in terms of hidden local symmetry theories are reviewed with a focus on the novel nearly massless states in the vicinity of -- both below and above -- the chiral restoration temperature T_c. We present complementary and intuitive ways to understand both Harada-Yamawaki's vector manifestation structure and Brown-Rho scaling -- which are closely related -- in terms of "melting" of soft glues observed in lattice calculations and join the massless modes that arise in the vector manifestation (in the chiral limit) just b…
We describe the hard leptoproduction of transversally polarized rho-meson, up to twist 3 accuracy, including 2- and 3- particles Fock-states, in the HERA kinematics of high center-of-mass energy. We first build a model based on a simple approach to the unintegrated gluon density (the parton impact factor) that we compare with H1 and ZEUS data for the ratios of helicity amplitudes T(gamma*T -> rhoT)/T(gamma*L -> rhoL) and T(gamma*T -> rhoL)/T(gamma*L -> rhoL) and get a good description of the data. We also show how saturation effects can be included in this model by extending the dipole represe…
The double spin asymmetry for exclusive $J/ψ$ pair production in the polarized $p-p$ collisions at RHIC is investigated. Our study shows that the asymmetry in this process is measurable at RHIC-SPIN experiments in the near future, and, hence it can be used to determine the gluon distribution function $ΔG (x)$ in the polarized nucleon.
The exclusive production of pairs of vector mesons with J^{PC} = 1^{--} in e^+ e^- collisions can proceed through e^+ e^- annihilation into two virtual photons. At energies much greater than the meson masses, the cross section is dominated by the independent fragmentation of the virtual photons into the vector mesons. The fragmentation approximation is used to calculate the cross sections and angular distributions for pairs of vector mesons that can be produced at the B factories. The predicted cross sections for rho^0 + rho^0 and rho^0 + phi production agree with recent measurements by the Ba…
The prospects for determining $|V_{ub}|$ from exclusive B semileptonic decay are discussed. The double ratio of form factors $(f^{B\toρ}/f^{B\to K^*})/ (f^{D\toρ}/f^{D\to K^*})$ is calculated using chiral perturbation theory. Its deviation from unity due to contributions that are non-analytic in the symmetry breaking parameters is very small. Combining experimental data obtainable from (B->rho l nu), (B->K* l l) and (D->rho l nu) can lead to a model independent determination of $|V_{ub}|$ with an uncertainty from theory of about 10%.
A gauge theory of pions interacting with rho-mesons at elevated temperatures is used to calculate the pressure in a hot pion gas. No reference is made to the pion's status as a QCD Goldstone boson. The role of the pion is merely that of a carrier of an SU(2) symmetry, gauged to create a vector-meson interaction, the rho playing the role of the interacting vector particle. The results are in rough agreement with much more elaborate calculations, both of the purely hadronic variety, and those that invoke quark-gluon degrees of freedom. The quark-gluon and purely hadronic calculations seemingly l…
We use recent results for the gamma*L -> rhoL and gamma*T -> rhoT impact factors, computed in the impact parameter representation within the collinear factorization scheme, to get predictions for the polarized cross-sections sigmaT and sigmaL of the diffractive leptoproduction of the rho meson at high energy. In this approach the helicity amplitude is a convolution of the scattering amplitude of a color dipole with a target, together with the virtual gamma wave function and with the first moments of the rho meson wave function (in the transverse momentum space), given by the distribution ampli…
We evaluate the form factors governing the exclusive decays B->rho l nu, B->a_1 l nu, by using an effective quark-meson lagrangian. The model is based on meson-quark interactions, and the computation of the mesonic transition amplitudes is performed by considering diagrams with heavy mesons attached to loops containing heavy and light constituent quarks. This approach was successfully employed to compute the Isgur-Wise form factors and other hadronic observables for negative and positive parity heavy mesons and is presently used for exclusive heavy-to-light weak transitions. We also evaluate a…
Exclusive vector meson production reactions such as $Au + Au \to Au + Au + V$, where $V=ρ, ω, ϕ$ or $J/ψ$ can proceed through photon-Pomeron and photon-meson interactions. Photons from the electromagnetic field of one nucleus interact coherently with the other nucleus. Photonuclear cross sections are scaled from $γp$ data, and convoluted with the photon spectrum to find the exclusive rates. The cross sections at the RHIC and LHC heavy ion colliders are huge, 10% of the total hadronic cross section at RHIC, and 50% at LHC. These accelerators may be useful as vector meson factories. With iodine …
We consider exclusive double diffractive production of scalar χ_c(0^+), axial-vector χ_c(1^+) and tensor χ_c(2^+) charmonia in proton-(anti)proton collisions at different energies. The corresponding amplitudes for these processes are derived within the k_t-factorisation approach and the corresponding cross section is calculated with different unintegrated gluon distribution functions (UGDFs) known from the literature. We compare exclusive production of all charmonium states χ_c(0^+), χ_c(1^+) and χ_c(2^+) including branching fraction for radiative J/Ψ+ γdecay channel. Corresponding experimenta…
The Regge inspired k_T-factorization scheme expresses the scattering amplitude for exclusive leptoproduction of a light vector meson rho in terms of two impact factors, one for the gamma* - rho transition and the other one for the nucleon to nucleon transition, with, at leading order, a two "reggeized" gluon exchange in the t-channel. We report here on a recent phenomenological study where we apply a previously developped scheme which consistently takes into account the twist 3 distribution amplitudes for transversely polarized rho meson. The computation of the gamma* to rho impact factor are …
We review here two approaches to describe hard leptoproduction of transversally polarized rho-meson, based on recent calculation of the gamma*T -> rhoT impact factor up to twist 3 accuracy in the collinear factorization frame, including 2- and 3- particles Fock-states. The first approach uses a model of the unintegrated gluon density (the proton impact factor) which allows a comparison of our predictions with H1 and ZEUS data for the ratios of helicity amplitudes T(gamma*T -> rhoT)/T(gamma*L -> rhoL) and T(gamma*T -> rhoL)/T(gamma*L -> rhoL). In the second approach, we transform the gamma*T ->…
We study the exclusive production of pi pi and rho pi in hard gamma* gamma scattering in the forward kinematical region where the virtuality of one photon provides us with a hard scale in the process. The newly introduced concept of Transition Distribution Amplitudes (TDA) is used to perform a QCD calculation of these reactions thanks to two simple models for TDAs. Cross sections for rho pi and pi pi production are evaluated and compared to the possible background from the Bremsstrahlung process. This picture may be tested at intense electron-positron colliders such as CLEO and B factories. Th…
We calculate the cross-section for the diffractive exclusive process gamma*_L (Q_1^2) gamma*_L(Q_2^2) -> rho^0_L rho^0_L, in view of its study in the future high energy e+e- linear collider. The Born order approximation of the amplitude is completely calculable in the hard region Q_1, Q_2 >> Lambda_QCD. The resulting cross-section is large enough for this process to be measurable with foreseen luminosity and energy, for Q_1 and Q_2 in the range of a few GeV.
I briefly review several mechanisms of central exclusive production of mesons at high energies. Some illustrative examples for the BNL RHIC, FNAL Tevatron and CERN LHC as well as for lower energies are discussed. Some differential distributions are shown.
The exclusive reaction of rho meson pair electroproduction in gamma*gamma* collisions is a nice place to study various dynamics and factorization properties in the perturbative sector of QCD. At low energy (quarks dominance), this process can be considered as a way to explore QCD factorizations involving generalized distribution amplitudes (GDA) and transition distribution amplitudes (TDA), and, in the Regge limit of QCD (gluons dominance), it seems to offer a promising probe of the BFKL resummation effects which could be studied at the next international linear collider (ILC).
We investigate the potentialities offered by the study of J/psi exclusive photo-production in ultra-peripheral collisions at a fixed-target experiment using the proton and lead LHC beams (generically denoted as AFTER@LHC) on hydrogen targets and at RHIC in the collider mode. We compare the expected counting rates in both set-ups. Studying Single-Transverse-Spin Asymmetries (A_N) in such a process provides a direct path to the proton Generalised Parton Distribution (GPD) E_g(x,xi,t). We evaluate the expected precision on A_N for realistic conditions with the LHCb detector in pH(pol) and PbH(pol…
We present within the Standard Model the exclusive radiative decays B -> K*/rho gamma and B_(s/d) -> gamma gamma in QCD factorization based on the heavy-quark limit m_b >> Lambda_QCD. For the decays with a vector meson in the final state we give results complete to next-to-leading order in QCD.
In the ratio of ratios of rates for radiative and semileptonic decays of B and D to K* and rho mesons the non-computable form factors mostly cancel out. The resulting method for the determination of Vub is largely free of hadronic uncertainties, raising the prospect of a precise determination of Vub.
We calculate the leading order BFKL amplitude for the exclusive diffractive process γ*_L(Q1^2) γ*_L(Q2^2) \to ρ_L^0 ρ_L^0 in the forward direction, which can be studied in future high energy e^+e^- linear colliders. The resummation effects are very large compared to the fixed-order calculation. We also estimate the next-to-leading logarithmic corrections to the amplitude by using a specific resummation of higher order effects and find a substantial growth with energy, but smaller than in the leading logarithmic approximation.
Central exclusive production (CEP) processes in high-energy hadron collisions offer a very promising framework for studying both novel aspects of QCD and new physics signals. We report on the results of a theoretical study of the CEP of heavy quarkonia (chi and eta) at the Tevatron, RHIC and LHC. These processes provide important information on the physics of bound states and can probe the current ideas and methods of QCD, such as effective field theories and lattice QCD.
Exclusive light meson production processes possible to be measured at RHIC and LHC accelerators are briefly described. This includes Pomeron and photon induced continuum of pions and kaons as well as $f_0$ and $ρ^0$ resonant production. Next, GenEx, a new Monte Carlo generator recently developed in Cracow, is presented. Its purpose is to generate resonant and non-resonant pion and kaon production and diffractive Bremsstrahlung. Its future development will take into account spin (polarization) effects and simulate corrections due to absorption and re-scattering.
We provide Standard Model expectations for the rare radiative decays B->K^* gamma, B->rho gamma and B-> omega gamma, and the electroweak penguin decays B->K^* l^+ l^- and B->rho l^+ l^- at the next-to-leading order (NLO), extending our previous results to b->d transitions. We consider branching fractions, isospin asymmetries and direct CP asymmetries. For the electroweak penguin decays, the lepton-invariant mass spectrum and forward-backward asymmetry is also included. Radiative and electroweak penguin transitions in b->d are mainly interesting in the search for new flavour-changing neutral cu…
