In this paper we develop a new weak convergence and compact embedding method to study the existence and uniqueness of the $L_ρ^2({\mathbb{R}^{d}};{\mathbb{R}^{1}})\otimes L_ρ^2({\mathbb{R}^{d}};{\mathbb{R}^{d}})$ valued solution of backward stochastic differential equations with p-growth coefficients. Then we establish the probabilistic representation of the weak solution of PDEs with p-growth coefficients via corresponding BSDEs.
We consider the time evolution of the supercritical Galton-Watson model of branching particles with extra parameter (mass). In the moment of the division the mass of the particle (which is growing linearly after the birth) is divided in random proportion between two offsprings (mitosis). Using the technique of moment equations we study asymptotic of the mass distribution of the particles. Mass distribution of the particles is the solution of the equation with linearly transformed argument: functional, functional-differential or integral. We derive several limit theorems describing the fluctuat…
Widely used closed product-form networks have emerged recently as a primary model of stochastic growth of sub-cellular structures, e.g., cellular filaments. In the baseline model, homogeneous monomers attach and detach stochastically to individual filaments from a common pool of monomers, resulting in seemingly explicit product-form solutions. However, due to the large-scale nature of such networks, computing the partition functions for these solutions is numerically infeasible. To this end, we develop a novel methodology, based on a probabilistic representation of product-form solutions and l…
The growth-fragmentation equation models systems of particles that grow and reproduce as time passes. An important question concerns the asymptotic behaviour of its solutions. Bertoin and Watson ($2018$) developed a probabilistic approach relying on the Feynman-Kac formula, that enabled them to answer to this question for sublinear growth rates. This assumption on the growth ensures that microscopic particles remain microscopic. In this work, we go further in the analysis, assuming bounded fragmentations and allowing arbitrarily small particles to reach macroscopic mass in finite time. We esta…
This paper presents a partial state of the art about the topic of representation of generalized Fokker-Planck Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) by solutions of McKean Feynman-Kac Equations (MFKEs) that generalize the notion of McKean Stochastic Differential Equations (MSDEs). While MSDEs can be related to non-linear Fokker-Planck PDEs, MFKEs can be related to non-conservative non-linear PDEs. Motivations come from modeling issues but also from numerical approximation issues in computing the solution of a PDE, arising for instance in the context of stochastic control. MFKEs also appear natu…
The neutron transport equation (NTE) describes the flux of neutrons across a planar cross-section in an inhomogeneous fissile medium when the process of nuclear fission is active. Classical work on the NTE emerges from the applied mathematics literature in the 1950s through the work of R. Dautray and collaborators, [7, 8, 19]. The NTE also has a probabilistic representation through the semigroup of the underlying physical process when envisaged as a stochastic process; cf. [7, 17, 18, 20]. More recently, [6] and [16] have continued the probabilistic analysis of the NTE, introducing more recent…
In this paper, we give interior gradient and Hessian estimates for systems of semi-linear degenerate elliptic partial differential equations on bounded domains, using both tools of backward stochastic differential equations and quasi-derivatives.
The work in this paper is four-fold. Firstly, we introduce an alternative approach to solve fractional ordinary differential equations as an expected value of a random time process. Using the latter, we present an interesting numerical approach based on Monte Carlo integration to simulate solutions of fractional ordinary and partial differential equations. Thirdly, we show that this approach allows us to find the fundamental solutions for fractional partial differential equations (PDEs), in which the fractional derivative in time is in the Caputo sense and the fractional in space one is in the…
We obtain existence results for the solution u of nonlocal semilinear parabolic PDEs on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with polynomial nonlinearities in $(u, \nabla u)$, using a tree-based probabilistic representation. This probabilistic representation applies to the solution of the equation itself, as well as to its partial derivatives by associating one of d marks to the initial tree branch. Partial derivatives are dealt with by integration by parts and subordination of Brownian motion. Numerical illustrations are provided in examples for the fractional Laplacian in dimension up to 10, and for the fractiona…
We present a very simple bijective proof of Cayley's formula due to Foata and Fuchs (1970). This bijection turns out to be very useful when seen through a probabilistic lens; we explain some of the ways in which it can be used to derive probabilistic identities, bounds, and growth procedures for random trees with given degrees, including random d-ary trees. We also introduce a partial order on the degree sequences of rooted trees, and conjecture that it induces a stochastic partial order on heights of random rooted trees with given degrees.
Deep point cloud registration methods face challenges to partial overlaps and rely on labeled data. To address these issues, we propose UDPReg, an unsupervised deep probabilistic registration framework for point clouds with partial overlaps. Specifically, we first adopt a network to learn posterior probability distributions of Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) from point clouds. To handle partial point cloud registration, we apply the Sinkhorn algorithm to predict the distribution-level correspondences under the constraint of the mixing weights of GMMs. To enable unsupervised learning, we design …
Recent work on Path-Dependent Partial Differential Equations (PPDEs) has shown that PPDE solutions can be approximated by a probabilistic representation, implemented in the literature by the estimation of conditional expectations using regression. However, a limitation of this approach is to require the selection of a basis in a function space. In this paper, we overcome this limitation by the use of deep learning methods, and we show that this setting allows for the derivation of error bounds on the approximation of conditional expectations. Numerical examples based on a two-person zero-sum g…
We study the growth of a time-ordered rooted tree by probabilistic attachment of new vertices to leaves. We construct a likelihood function of the leaves based on the connectivity of the tree. We take such connectivity to be induced by the merging of directed ordered paths from leaves to the root. Combining the likelihood with an assigned prior distribution leads to a posterior leaf distribution from which we sample attachment points for new vertices. We present computational examples of such Bayesian tree growth. Although the discussion is generic, the initial motivation for the paper is the …
