We consider the 2D Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice, as a model for single layer graphene with screened Coulomb interactions; at half filling and weak coupling, we construct its ground state correlations by a convergent multiscale expansion, rigorously excluding the presence of magnetic or superconducting instabilities or the formation of a mass gap. The Fermi velocity, which can be written in terms of a convergent series expansion, remains close to its non-interacting value and turns out to be isotropic. On the contrary, the interaction produces an asymmetry between the two components of the charge velocity, in contrast with the predictions based on relativistic or continuum approximations.
We derive exact equations for a broken scale invariance of the homogeneous electron gas HEG, and show that they lead to a closed non-linear integral equation for the density- density correlation function when evaluated to leading order in the 1/N expansion. More generally, the identity leads to a sequence of more refined systems of equations, which close on a finite number of one plasmon irreducible (1PLI) correlation functions.
Ward identities for extended objects are discussed. In the limit of dc transport it is rigorously proved that charge-density and spin-density fluctuations do not couple to electromagnetic field.
We derive quantum field theory Ward identities based on linear area preserving and conformal transformations in 2+1 dimensions. The identities relate Hall viscosities, Hall conductivities and the angular momentum. They apply both for relativistic and non relativistic systems, at zero and at finite temperature. We consider systems with or without translation invariance, and introduce an external magnetic field and viscous drag terms. A special case of the identities yields the well known relation between the Hall conductivity and half the angular momentum density.
Antiferromagnetic and spin spiral correlations in the doped two-dimensional Hubbard model: gauge symmetry, Ward identities, and dynamical mean-field theory analysis
Using functional methods and the exact renormalization group we derive Ward identities for the Anderson impurity model. In particular, we present a non-perturbative proof of the Yamada-Yosida identities relating certain coefficients in the low-energy expansion of the self-energy to thermodynamic particle number and spin susceptibilities of the impurity. Our proof underlines the relation of the Yamada-Yosida identities to the U(1) x U(1) symmetry associated with particle number and spin conservation in a magnetic field.
We investigate several fundamental characteristics of the multiloop functional renormalization group (mfRG) flow by hands of its application to a prototypical many-electron system: the Anderson impurity model (AIM). We first analyze the convergence of the algorithm in the different parameter regions of the AIM. As no additional approximation is made, the multiloop series for the local self-energy and response functions converge perfectly to the corresponding results of the parquet approximation (PA) in the weak- to intermediate-coupling regime. Small oscillations of the mfRG solution as a func…
We use the Ward identities corresponding to general linear transformations, and derive relations between transport coefficients of $(2+1)$-dimensional systems. Our analysis includes relativistic and Galilean invariant systems, as well as systems without boost invariance such as Lifshitz theories. We consider translation invariant, as well as broken translation invariant cases, and include an external magnetic field. Our results agree with effective theory relations of incompressible Hall fluid, and with holographic calculations in a magnetically charged black hole background.
We analyze the structure of the stress-energy tensor correlation functions in Lifshitz field theories and construct the corresponding anomalous Ward identities. We develop a framework for calculating the anomaly coefficients that employs a split dimensional regularization and the pole residues. We demonstrate the procedure by calculating the free scalar Lifshitz scale anomalies in $2+1$ spacetime dimensions. We find that the analysis of the regularization dependent trivial terms requires a curved spacetime description without a foliation structure. We discuss potential ambiguities in Lifshitz …
Coupled fermionic chains are usually described by an effective model written in terms of bonding and anti-bonding spinless fields with linear dispersion in the vicinities of the respective Fermi points. We derive for the first time exact Ward Identities (WI) for this model, proving the existence of chiral anomalies which verify the Adler-Bardeen non-renormalization property. Such WI are expected to play a crucial role in the understanding of the thermodynamic properties of the system. Our results are non-perturbative and are obtained analyzing Grassmann functional integrals by means of Constru…
We derive Ward-Takahashi identities for correlated Bose-Einstein condensates based on the expressions of the first-order variations $(δΨ,δG)$ due to perturbations obtained in the preceding paper [T. Kita, J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. $\bf 90$, 024001 (2021)] for the condensate wave function $Ψ$ and Green's function $G$. They enable us to obtain several exact results on the density and current correlation functions $K_{νν'}^{}$, and also express $K_{νν'}^{}$ in terms of low-energy Green's functions and vertices. The latter expressions open up the possibility of constructing theory of superfluid Bose liqu…
We consider the two-point functions of conserved bulk currents and energy-momentum tensor in a boundary CFT defined on $\mathbb{R}_-^{1,2}$. Starting from the consistent forms of boundary gauge and gravitational anomalies we derive their respective contributions to the correlation functions in the form of anomalous Ward identities. Using the recently developed momentum space formalism we find an anomalous solution to each of these identities depending on a single undetermined form-factor. We study the solution in two different kinematic limits corresponding to small and large momentum $p_n$, p…
We investigate the emergence of a conformal anomaly pole in conformal field theories in the case of the $TJJ$ correlator. We show how it comes to be generated in dimensional renormalization, using a basis of 13 form factors (the $F$-basis), where only one of them requires renormalization $(F_{13})$, extending previous studies. We then combine recent results on the structure of the non-perturbative solutions of the conformal Ward identities (CWI's) for the $TJJ$ in momentum space, expressed in terms of a minimal set of 4 form factors ($A-$ basis), with the properties of the $F$-basis, and show …
