We study the heavy-quark contributions to the proton structure functions $F_2^i(x,Q^2)$ and $F_L^i(x,Q^2)$, with $i=c,b$, for small values of Bjorken's $x$ variable and provide compact formulas for their ratios $R_i=F_L^i/F_2^i$ that are useful to extract $F_2^i(x,Q^2)$ from measurements of the doubly differential cross section of inclusive deep-inelastic scattering at DESY HERA. Our approach naturally explains why $R_i$ is approximately independent of $x$ and the details of the parton distribution functions in the low-$x$ regime.
Nuclear modification of hadron production in deep inelastic lepton-nucleus scattering can be applied to study the parton propagation mechanism in cold nuclear matter. By means of the analytic parameterization of quenching weight based on BDMPS formalism with the target nuclear geometry effect, the leading-order computations for hadron multiplicity ratios are performed with comparison to the HERMES charged pions production data on the quarks hadronization occurring outside the nucleus. The relation is discovered between quark transport coefficient and the measurable kinematic variables in deep …
By means of the nuclear parton distributions determined without the fixed-target Drell-Yan experimental data and the analytic expression of quenching weight based on BDMPS formalism, a next-to-leading order analyses are performed on the Drell-Yan differential cross section ratios from Fermilab E906 and E866 Collaborations. It is found that the calculated results with only the nuclear effects of parton distribution are not in agreement with the E866 and E906 experimental data. The incoming parton energy loss effect can not be ignored in the nuclear Drell-Yan reactions. The predicted results ind…
The Drell-Yan process for proton incident on nuclei is an excellent place for deeply studying the parton propagation in a nucleus. By means of the nuclear parton distributions determined only with lepton-nuclear deep inelastic scattering experimental data and the analytic parameterization of quenching weight based on BDMPS formalism, a phenomenological analysis of the nuclear Drell-Yan differential cross section ratio as a function of Feynman variable is performed from Fermilab E906 and E866 experimental data. With the nuclear geometry effect on nuclear Drell-Yan process and the quark transpor…
So far the analyses of the polarized structure functions of the proton and neutron have been limited to the evaluation of their integrals and comparing them to the prediction of the static quark model of the nucleon. We extended our analysis to the x dependence of the polarized structure functions and observe: the measured structure function excellently agrees with the prediction of the static quark model for Bjorken $x>0.2$ and drops rapidly for $x<0.2$. It is suggested that for Bjorken $x>0.2$ electrons get scattered on the undamaged constituent quarks (alias valence quarks) denoted as quasi…
The polarized structure functions of $^3He$ and $^3H$ nuclei are calculated in NLO approximation, considering and disregarding the light sea quark symmetry breaking. We employ the polarized structure function of the nucleons within the nucleus extracted from our two recent analysis on polarized DIS data and on polarized DIS+SIDIS data. Since the data of the second analysis cover a bigger range of Bjorken variable, both SU(2) and SU(3) symmetry breaking is considered within the analysis. Then we calculate and compare the polarized structures of nuclei extracted from both scenarios. Also the Bjo…
We argue that the existence of an inhomogeneous external magnetic field can lead to radial flow in transverse plane. Our aim is to show how the introduction of a magnetic field generalizes the Bjorken flow. We investigate the effect of an inhomogeneous weak external magnetic field on the transverse expansion of in-viscid fluid created in high energy nuclear collisions. In order to simplify our calculation and compare with Gubser model, we consider the fluid under investigation to be produced in central collisions, at small impact parameter; azimuthal symmetry has been considered. In our model,…
We report the first lattice QCD calculation of pion valence quark distribution with next-to-next-to-leading order perturbative matching correction, which is done using two fine lattices with spacings $a=0.04$ fm and $0.06$ fm and valence pion mass $m_π=300$ MeV, at boost momentum as large as $2.42$ GeV. As a crucial step to control the systematics, we renormalize the pion valence quasi distribution in the recently proposed hybrid scheme, which features a Wilson-line mass subtraction at large distances in coordinate space, and develop a procedure to match it to the $\overline{\rm MS}$ scheme. W…
