We introduce here the notion of Koszul duality for monoids in the monoidal category of species with respect to the ordinary product. To each Koszul monoid we associate a class of Koszul algebras in the sense of Priddy, by taking the corresponding analytic functor. The operad $\mathscr{A}_M$ of rooted trees enriched with a monoid $M$ was introduced by the author many years ago. One special case of that is the operad of ordinary rooted trees, called in the recent literature the permutative non associative operad. We prove here that $\mathscr{A}_M$ is Koszul if and only if the corresponding monoid $M$ is Koszul. In this way we obtain a wide family of Koszul operads, extending a recent result of Chapoton and Livernet, and providing an interesting link between Koszul duality for associative algebras and Koszul duality for operads.
We prove that the operad of mock partially associative $n$-ary algebras is not Koszul, as conjectured by the second and the third author in 2009, and utilise the Zeilberger's algorithm for hypergeometric summation to demonstrate that non-Koszulness of that operad cannot be established by hunting for negative coefficients in the inverse of its Poincaré series.
We define, for a somewhat standard forgetful functor from nonsymmetric operads to weight graded associative algebras, two functorial "enveloping operad" functors, the right inverse and the left adjoint of the forgetful functor. Those functors turn out to be related by operadic Koszul duality, and that relationship can be utilised to provide examples showing limitations of two standard tools of the Koszul duality theory. We also apply these functors to get a homotopical algebra proof of the Lagrange inversion formula.
We introduce a functor ${\sf As}$ from the category of posets to the category of nonsymmetric binary and quadratic operads, establishing a new connection between these two categories. Each operad obtained by the construction ${\sf As}$ provides a generalization of the associative operad because all of its generating operations are associative. This construction has a very singular property: the operads obtained from ${\sf As}$ are almost never basic. Besides, the properties of the obtained operads, such as Koszulity, basicity, associative elements, realization, and dimensions, depend on combin…
We consider the notions of the replicators, including the duplicator and triplicator, of a binary operad. As in the closely related notions of di-Var-algebra and tri-Var-algebra in [14], they provide a general operadic definition for the recent constructions of replicating the operations of algebraic structures. We show that taking replicators is in Koszul dual to taking successors in [3] for binary quadratic operads and is equivalent to taking the white product with certain operads such as Perm. We also relate the replicators to the actions of average operators.
We introduce a functorial construction which, from a monoid, produces a set-operad. We obtain new (symmetric or not) operads as suboperads or quotients of the operad obtained from the additive monoid. These involve various familiar combinatorial objects: parking functions, packed words, planar rooted trees, generalized Dyck paths, Schröder trees, Motzkin paths, integer compositions, directed animals, etc. We also retrieve some known operads: the magmatic operad, the commutative associative operad, and the diassociative operad.
We study a functorial construction from the category of monoids to the category of set-operads and we give some combinatorial examples of applications.
We define a poset of partitions associated to an operad. We prove that the operad is Koszul if and only if the poset is Cohen-Macaulay. In one hand, this characterisation allows us to compute the homology of the poset. This homology is given by the Koszul dual operad. On the other hand, we get new methods for proving that an operad is Koszul.
We introduce a functorial construction which, from a monoid, produces a set-operad. We obtain new (symmetric or not) operads as suboperads or quotients of the operads obtained from usual monoids such as the additive and multiplicative monoids of integers and cyclic monoids. They involve various familiar combinatorial objects: endofunctions, parking functions, packed words, permutations, planar rooted trees, trees with a fixed arity, Schröder trees, Motzkin words, integer compositions, directed animals, and segmented integer compositions. We also recover some already known (symmetric or not) op…
We introduce a new algebraic construction, {\em monop}, that combines monoids (with respect to the product of species), and operads (monoids with respect to the substitution of species) in the same algebraic structure. By the use of properties of cancellative set-monops we construct a family of partially ordered sets whose prototypical examples are the Dowling lattices. They generalize the partition posets associated to a cancellative operad, and the subset posets associated to a cancellative monoid. Their generalized Withney numbers of the first and second kind are the entries of a Riordan ma…
A new hierarchy of combinatorial operads is introduced, involving families of regular polygons with configurations of arcs, called decorated cliques. This hierarchy contains, among others, operads on noncrossing configurations, Motzkin objects, forests, dissections of polygons, and involutions. All this is a consequence of the definition of a general functorial construction from unitary magmas to operads. We study some of its main properties and show that this construction includes the operad of bicolored noncrossing configurations and the operads of simple and double multi-tildes. We focus in…
The operads of Poisson and Gerstenhaber algebras are generated by a single binary element if we consider them as Hopf operads (i.e. as operads in the category of cocommutative coalgebras). In this note we discuss in details the Hopf operads generated by a single element of arbitrary arity. We explain why the dual space to the space of $n$-ary operations in this operads are quadratic and Koszul algebras. We give the detailed description of generators, relations and a certain monomial basis in these algebras.
We introduce, by adopting the point of view and the tools offered by the theory of operads, a generalization on a nonnegative integer parameter $γ$ of diassociative algebras of Loday, called $γ$-pluriassociative algebras. By Koszul duality of operads, we obtain a generalization of dendriform algebras, called $γ$-polydendriform algebras. In the same manner as dendriform algebras are suitable devices to split associative operations into two parts, $γ$-polydendriform algebras seem adapted structures to split associative operations into $2 γ$ operations so that some partial sums of these operation…
Dendriform algebras form a category of algebras recently introduced by Loday. A dendriform algebra is a vector space endowed with two nonassociative binary operations satisfying some relations. Any dendriform algebra is an algebra over the dendriform operad, the Koszul dual of the diassociative operad. We introduce here, by adopting the point of view and the tools offered by the theory of operads, a generalization on a nonnegative integer parameter $γ$ of dendriform algebras, called $γ$-polydendriform algebras, so that $1$-polydendriform algebras are dendriform algebras. For that, we consider …
Diassociative algebras form a categoy of algebras recently introduced by Loday. A diassociative algebra is a vector space endowed with two associative binary operations satisfying some very natural relations. Any diassociative algebra is an algebra over the diassociative operad, and, among its most notable properties, this operad is the Koszul dual of the dendriform operad. We introduce here, by adopting the point of view and the tools offered by the theory of operads, a generalization on a nonnegative integer parameter $γ$ of diassociative algebras, called $γ$-pluriassociative algebras, so th…
