We present a search for new particles whose decays produce two jets (dijets) using proton-antiproton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.13 fb-1 collected with the CDF II detector. The measured dijet mass spectrum is found to be consistent with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions, and no significant evidence of new particles is found. We set upper limits at the 95% confidence level on cross sections times the branching fraction for the production of new particles decaying into dijets with both jets having a rapidity magnitude |y| < 1. These limits are used to determine the mass exclusions for the excited quark, axigluon, flavor-universal coloron, E6 diquark, color-octet technirho, W', and Z'.
We report on a study of diffractive dijet production in $\bar{p}p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV using the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $\bar{p}p$ collider. A data sample from 310 pb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected by triggering on a high transverse energy jet, $E_T^{jet}$, in coincidence with a recoil antiproton detected in a Roman pot spectrometer is used to measure the ratio of single-diffractive to inclusive-dijet event rates as a function of $x^{\bar p}$ of the interacting parton in the antiproton, the Bjorken-$x$, $x^{\bar p}_{Bj}$, and a $Q^2\approx (E_T^{jet})…
We have used 19 pb**-1 of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab to search for new particles decaying to dijets. We exclude at 95% confidence level models containing the following new particles: axigluons with mass between 200 and 870 GeV, excited quarks with mass between 80 and 570 GeV, and color octet technirhos with mass between 320 and 480 GeV.
We present the first NLO QCD analysis of single-diffractive dijet production in proton-antiproton collisions. By comparing the ratio of single- and non-diffractive cross sections to data from the Tevatron, the rapidity-gap survival probability is determined as a function of the momentum fraction of the parton in the antiproton. Assuming Regge factorization, this probability can be interpreted as a suppression factor for the diffractive structure function measured in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA. In contrast to the observations for photoproduction, the suppression factor in proton-antiprot…

We perform next-to-leading order calculations of the single-diffractive and non-diffractive cross sections for dijet production in proton-antiproton collisions at the Tevatron. By comparing their ratio to the data published by the CDF collaboration for two different center-of-mass energies, we deduce the rapidity-gap survival probability as a function of the momentum fraction of the parton in the antiproton. Assuming Regge factorization, this probability can be interpreted as a suppression factor for the diffractive structure function measured in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA. In contrast …
We use 106 $\ipb$ of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab to search for narrow-width, vector particles decaying to a top and an anti-top quark. Model independent upper limits on the cross section for narrow, vector resonances decaying to $\ttbar$ are presented. At the 95% confidence level, we exclude the existence of a leptophobic $\zpr$ boson in a model of topcolor-assisted technicolor with mass $M_{\zpr}$ $<$ 480 $\gev$ for natural width $Γ$ = 0.012 $M_{\zpr}$, and $M_{\zpr}$ $<$ 780 $\gev$ for $Γ$ = 0.04 $M_{\zpr}$.
We report a measurement of the diffractive structure function $F_{jj}^D$ of the antiproton obtained from a study of dijet events produced in association with a leading antiproton in $\bar pp$ collisions at $\sqrt s=630$ GeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The ratio of $F_{jj}^D$ at $\sqrt s=630$ GeV to $F_{jj}^D$ obtained from a similar measurement at $\sqrt s=1800$ GeV is compared with expectations from QCD factorization and with theoretical predictions. We also report a measurement of the $ξ$ ($x$-Pomeron) and $β$ ($x$ of parton in Pomeron) dependence of $F_{jj}^D$ at $\sqrt s=1800$ GeV. In the re…
A search for narrow resonances in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV is presented. The invariant mass distribution of the two leading jets is measured with the CMS detector using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.4 inverse femtobarns. The highest observed dijet mass is 6.1 TeV. The distribution is smooth and no evidence for resonant particles is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross section for narrow resonances with masses above 1.5 TeV. When interpreted in the context of specific models, the limits exclude string reso…
We present a new search for $H^{0}V$ production, where $H^0$ is a scalar Higgs boson decaying into $b\bar{b}$ with branching ratio $β$, and $V$ is a $Z^{0}$ boson decaying into $e^{+}e^{-}$, $μ^{+}μ^{-}$, or $ν\barν$. This search is then combined with previous searches for $H^{0}V$ where $V$ is a $W^{\pm}$ boson or a hadronically decaying $Z^{0}$. The data sample consists of $106 \pm 4$ pb$^{-1}$ of $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.8$ TeV accumulated by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Observing no evidence of a signal, we set 95% Bayesian credibility level upper limits on $σ(p\bar{p}\to…
We present new results from studies on diffractive dijet production and exclusive production of dijet and diphoton obtained by the CDF Collaboration in proton-antiproton collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron.
We present results on dijet production via hard color-singlet exchange in proton-antiproton collisions at root-s = 630 GeV and 1800 GeV using the DZero detector. The fraction of dijet events produced via color-singlet exchange is measured as a function of jet transverse energy, separation in pseudorapidity between the two highest transverse energy jets, and proton-antiproton center-of-mass energy. The results are consistent with a color-singlet fraction that increases with an increasing fraction of quark-initiated processes and inconsistent with two-gluon models for the hard color-singlet.
A search has been made for massive resonances decaying into a quark and a vector boson, qW or qZ, or a pair of vector bosons, WW, WZ, or ZZ, where each vector boson decays to hadronic final states. This search is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 inverse femtobarns of proton-proton collisions collected in the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2011 at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. For sufficiently heavy resonances the decay products of each vector boson are merged into a single jet, and the event effectively has a dijet topology. The background from QCD dije…
A search for the pair production of a heavy, narrow resonance decaying into two jets has been performed using events collected in sqrt(s) = 7 TeV pp collisions with the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 inverse femtobarns. Events are selected with at least four jets and two dijet combinations with similar dijet mass. No resonances are found in the dijet mass spectrum. The upper limit at 95% confidence level on the product of the resonance pair production cross section, the branching fractions into dijets, and the acceptance varies from 0.22…
A search in an all-jet final state for new massive resonances decaying to WW, WZ, or ZZ boson pairs using a novel analysis method is presented. The analysis is performed on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 77.3 fb$^{-1}$ recorded with the CMS experiment at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The search is focussed on potential resonances with masses above 1.2 TeV, where the decay products of each W or Z boson are expected to be collimated into a single, large-radius jet. The signal is extracted using a three-dimensional maximum likelihood fit of the two jet masses an…
High energy jet distributions measured since 1992 at the Fermilab Tevatron proton--antiproton collider are presented and compared to theoretical predictions. The statistical uncertainties on these measurements are significantly reduced relative to previous results. The systematic uncertainties are comparable in size to the uncertainty in the theoretical predictions. Although some discrepancies between theory and measurements are noted, the inclusive jet and dijet cross sections can be described by quantum chromodynamics. Prospects for reducing the uncertainty in the theoretical predictions by …
We have used 106 pb^-1 of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab to search for new particles decaying to dijets. We exclude at the 95% confidence level models containing the following new particles: axigluons and flavor universal colorons with mass between 200 and 980 GeV/c, excited quarks with mass between 80 and 570 GeV/c^2 and between 580 and 760 GeV/c^2, color octet technirhos with mass between 260 and 480 GeV/c^2, W' bosons with mass between 300 and 420 GeV/c^2, and E_6 diquarks with mass between 290 and 420 GeV/c^2.
Results are presented from a search in the dijet final state for new massive narrow resonances decaying to pairs of W and Z bosons or to a W/Z boson and a quark. Results are based on data recorded in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$. The mass range investigated extends upwards from 1.2 TeV. No excess is observed above the estimated standard model background and limits are set at 95% confidence level on cross sections, which are interpreted in terms of various models that pred…
We present searches for charged Higgs production in decays of top quarks and also pair production of doubly charged Higgs boson decaying to di-tau, di-muon, and muon + tau final states. The searches are performed in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using an integrated luminosity of up to 7 fb-1 collected by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We find no evidence for charged Higgs production and set limits on the production cross-section for a variety of theoretical models. This represents the first search for pair production of doubly-charged Higgs b…
We present three searches for new particles at CDF. First, using 70 pb^-1 of data we search the dijet mass spectrum for resonances. There is an upward fluctuation near 550 GeV (2.6 sigma) with an angular distribution that is adequately described by either QCD alone or QCD plus 5% signal. There is insufficient evidence to claim a signal, but we set the most stringent mass limits on the hadronic decays of axigluons, excited quarks, technirhos, W', Z', and E6 diquarks. Second, using 19 pb^-1 of data we search the b-tagged dijet mass spectrum for b anti-b resonances. Again, an upward fluctuation n…
A search is presented for anomalous quartic gauge boson couplings in vector-boson scattering. The data for the analysis correspond to $20.2$ fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV $pp$ collisions, and were collected in 2012 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The search looks for the production of $WW$ or $WZ$ boson pairs accompanied by a high-mass dijet system, with one $W$ decaying leptonically, and a $W$ or $Z$ decaying hadronically. The hadronically decaying $W/Z$ is reconstructed as either two small-radius jets or one large-radius jet using jet substructure techniques. Constraint…
We present a CDF measurement of diffractive dijet production in $\bar{p}p$ collisions at 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider using data from an integrated luminosity of $\approx 310$ pb$^{-1}$ collected by triggering on a high transverse momentum jet in coincidence with a recoil antiproton detected in a roman pot spectrometer. We report final results for 4-momentum transfer squared $t>-4$ GeV$^2$, antiproton-momentum-loss fraction within 0.03-0.09, Bjorken-x of the interacting parton in the antiproton in the range 0.001-0.1, and jet transverse energies from 10 to 100 GeV.
A search for narrow resonances decaying to bottom quark-antiquark pairs is presented, using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 8 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. The search is extended to masses lower than those reached in typical searches for resonances decaying into jet pairs at the LHC, by taking advantage of triggers that identify jets originating from bottom quarks. No significant excess of events is observed above the background predictions. Limits are set on the product of cross section and branching fraction to bottom quarks for sp…
Results are presented of a search for the production of new particles decaying to pairs of partons (quarks, antiquarks, or gluons), in the dijet mass spectrum in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.0 inverse femtobarns, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2012. No significant evidence for narrow resonance production is observed. Upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section of hypothetical new particles decaying to quark-quark, quark-gluon, or gluon-gluon final states. These limit…
A search is reported for massive resonances decaying into a quark and a vector boson (W or Z), or two vector bosons (WW, WZ, or ZZ). The analysis is performed on an inclusive sample of multijet events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns, collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The search uses novel jet-substructure identification techniques that provide sensitivity to the presence of highly boosted vector bosons decaying into a pair of quarks. Exclusion limits are set at a confidence level of 9…
We have used 106 pb^-1 of data collected in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV by the Collider Detector at Fermilab to measure jet angular distributions in events with two jets in the final state. The angular distributions agree with next to leading order (NLO) predictions of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) in all dijet invariant mass regions. The data exclude at 95% confidence level (CL) a model of quark substructure in which only up and down quarks are composite and the contact interaction scale is Lambda_ud(+) < 1.6 TeV or Lambda_ud(-) < 1.4 TeV. For a model in which all quarks ar…
A search is performed for localised excesses in dijet mass distributions of low-dijet-mass events produced in association with a high transverse energy photon. The search uses up to 79.8 fb$^{-1}$ of LHC proton-proton collisions collected by the ATLAS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during 2015-2017. Two variants are presented: one which makes no jet flavour requirements and one which requires both jets to be tagged as $b$-jets. The observed mass distributions are consistent with multi-jet processes in the Standard Model. The data are used to set upper limits on the production …
This paper explores the physics reach of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) for searches of new particles decaying to two jets. We discuss inclusive searches in dijets and b-jets, as well as searches in semi-inclusive events by requiring an additional lepton that increases sensitivity to different aspects of the underlying processes. We discuss the expected exclusion limits for generic models predicting new massive particles that result in resonant structures in the dijet mass. Prospects of the Higher-Energy LHC (HE-LHC) collider are also discussed. The study is based on the Py…
Dijet differential cross sections for the reaction e+p -> e+ + jet + jet + X in the photoproduction regime have been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 42.7 pb**{-1}. The cross sections are given for photon-proton centre-of-mass energies in the range 134< W <277 GeV. The differential cross sections as a function of the dijet mass, Mjj, and of the dijet angular variables have been measured for 47 < Mjj < 160 GeV and compared to next-to-leading-order QCD calculations. The dijet events in the region 75< Mjj < 100 GeV have been used to derive a 95% C.L. upper…
We report on a search for a dijet resonance in events with only two or three jets and large imbalance in the total event transverse momentum. This search is sensitive to the possible production of a new particle in association with a $W$ or $Z$ boson, where the boson decays leptonically with one or more neutrinos in the final state. We use the full data set collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider at a proton-antiproton center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. These data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.1 fb$^{-1}$. We study the invariant mass distribution of the two jets…
A search for a manifestly exotic S=-2 baryon state decaying to Xi- pi-, and its neutral partner decaying to Xi- pi+, has been performed using 220 pb^(-1) of pp= collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The Xi trajectories were measured in a silicon tracker before their decay, resulting in a sample with low background and excellent position resolution. No evidence was found for S=-2 pentaquark candidates in the invariant mass range of 1600--2100 MeV/c^2 Upper limits on the product of pentaquark production cross section times its branching fraction to Xi- pi…
A comprehensive overview of the latest aspects of jet physics in proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$1.96 TeV is presented. In particular, measurements of the inclusive jet production, dijet and multi-jet production, and jet substructure studies are discussed.
We present the results of a search for pair production of a new heavy top-like quark t' decaying to a W boson and another quark using the CDF II detector in Run II of the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider. Using a data sample corresponding to 760 pb^-1 of integrated luminosity, we fit the observed spectrum of total transverse energy and reconstructed t' quark mass to a combination of standard model processes and t' pair production. We see no evidence for t' pair production, and we infer a lower limit of 256 GeV/c^2 on the mass of the t' at 95% C.L. assuming standard strong couplings for the …
We present the results of a search for anomalous resonant production of tau lepton pairs with large invariant mass, the first such search using the CDF II Detector in Run II of the Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ collider. Such anomalous production could arise from various new physics processes. In a data sample corresponding to 195 pb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity we predict 2.8$\pm$0.5 events from Standard Model background processes and observe 4. We use this result to set limits on the production of heavy scalar and vector particles decaying to tau lepton pairs.
The development of techniques for identifying hadronic signals from the overwhelming multi-jet backgrounds is an important part of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) program. Of prime importance are resonances decaying into a pair of partons, such as the Higgs and $\rm W$/$\rm Z$ bosons, as well as hypothetical new particles. We present a simple observable to help discriminate a dijet resonance from background that is effective even when the decaying resonance is not strongly boosted. We find consistent performance of the observable over a variety of processes and degree of boosts, and show that …
We review the experimental searches for new particles in the dijet mass spectrum conducted at the CERN SppS, the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, and the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The theory of the QCD background and new particle signals is reviewed, with emphasis on the choices made by the experiments to model the background and signal. The experimental techniques, data, and results of dijet resonance searches at hadron colliders over the last quarter century are described and compared. Model independent and model specific limits on new particles decaying to dijets are reviewed, and a detailed c…
A measurement of the inclusive WW+WZ diboson production cross section in proton-proton collisions is reported, based on events containing a leptonically decaying W boson and exactly two jets. The data sample, collected at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 inverse femtobarns. The measured value of the sum of the inclusive WW and WZ cross sections is sigma(pp to WW+WZ) = 68.9 +/- 8.7 (stat.) +/- 9.7 (syst.) +/- 1.5 (lum.) pb, consistent with the standard model prediction of 65.6 +/- 2.2 pb. This is the first measurement of WW+WZ prod…
A search is presented for narrow resonances decaying to dijet final states in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 12.9 inverse femtobarns. The dijet mass spectrum is well described by a smooth parameterization and no significant evidence for the production of new particles is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are reported on the production cross section for narrow resonances with masses above 0.6 TeV. In the context of specific models, the limits exclude string resonances with masses below 7.4 TeV, scalar diquarks be…
A search for dijet resonances in events with at least one isolated charged lepton is performed using $139~{\text{fb}}^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The dijet invariant-mass ($m_{jj}$) distribution constructed from events with at least one isolated electron or muon is searched in the region $0.22 < m_{jj} < 6.3$ TeV for excesses above a smoothly falling background from Standard Model processes. Triggering based on the presence of a lepton in the event reduces limitations imposed by minimum transverse momentum thresholds for tr…
The production of a $Z$ boson and a photon in association with a high-mass dijet system is studied using 20.2fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector in 2012 at the Large Hadron Collider. Final states with a photon and a Z boson decaying into a pair of either electrons, muons, or neutrinos are analysed. Electroweak and total $pp \to Zγj j$ cross-sections are extracted in two fiducial regions with different sensitivities to electroweak production processes. Quartic couplings of vector bosons are studied in region…
Searches for new physics in the top-quark sector using data from proton-antiproton collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron are discussed. The large data sets collected by the D0 and CDF experiments allow for precision measurements of the standard model (SM) top-quark production rates and top quark properties so that deviations from the SM expectations can be interpreted as signs of new physics. The presented analyses exploit the fact that the new physics would reveal itself in final states that are similar or identical to those of SM top-antitop production.
A search for narrow resonances decaying into dijet final states is performed on data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 18.8 inverse femtobarns. The data were collected with the CMS detector using a novel technique called data scouting, in which the information associated with these selected events is much reduced, permitting collection of larger data samples. This technique enables CMS to record events containing jets at a rate of 1 kHz, by collecting the data from the high-level-trigger system. In this way, the sens…
Selected recent quantum chromodynamics (QCD) measurements are reviewed for Fermilab Run II Tevatron proton-antiproton collisions studied by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and DZero Collaborations at a centre-of-mass energy of sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. Tantamount to Rutherford scattering studies at the TeV scale, inclusive jet and dijet production cross-section measurements are used to seek and constrain new particle physics phenomena, test perturbative QCD calculations, inform parton distribution function (PDF) determinations, and extract a precise value of the strong coupling constant, alpha…
The cross-section for the production of two jets in association with a leptonically decaying Z boson ($Zjj$) is measured in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using data recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb$^{-1}$. The electroweak $Zjj$ cross-section is extracted in a fiducial region chosen to enhance the electroweak contribution relative to the dominant Drell-Yan $Zjj$ process, which is constrained using a data-driven approach. The measured fiducial electroweak cross-section is $σ^{Zjj}_{…
This Letter describes the search for a new heavy charged gauge boson W' decaying into an electron and a neutrino. The data were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of about 1 inverse femtobarn. Lacking any significant excess in the data in comparison with known processes, an upper limit is set on the production cross section times branching fraction, and a W' boson with mass below 1.00 TeV can be excluded at the 95% C.L., assuming standard-model-like couplings to fe…
A search for signals of new physics has been carried out in the channel p pbar -> gamma gamma + ETmiss. This signature is expected in various recently proposed supersymmetric (SUSY) models. We observe 842 events with two photons having transverse momentum ET(g) > 12 GeV and pseudorapidity |eta(g)| < 1.1. Of these, none have missing transverse energy (ETmiss) in excess of 25 GeV. The distribution of ETmiss is consistent with that of the expected background. We therefore set limits on production cross sections for selectron, sneutrino and neutralino pairs, decaying into photons. The limits range…
This paper reports on a search for the electroweak diboson ($WW/WZ/ZZ$) production in association with a high-mass dijet system, using data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.5 fb$^{-1}$, were recorded with the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016 at the Large Hadron Collider. The search is performed in final states in which one boson decays leptonically, and the other boson decays hadronically. The hadronically decaying $W/Z$ boson is reconstructed as either two small-radius jets or one large-radi…

A search for a narrow resonance with a mass between 350 and 700 GeV, and decaying into a pair of jets, is performed using proton-proton collision events containing at least three jets. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 18.3 fb$^{-1}$ recorded at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV with the CMS detector. Data are collected with a technique known as "data scouting", in which the events are reconstructed, selected, and recorded at a high rate in a compact form by the high-level trigger. The three-jet final state provides sensitivity to lower resonance masses than in previous searches usi…
We present a search for Higgs bosons decaying into b-bbar and produced in association with W bosons in p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. This search uses 320 pb-1 of the dataset accumulated by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab. Events are selected that have a high-transverse momentum electron or muon, missing transverse energy, and two jets, one of which is consistent with a hadronization of a b quark. Both the number of events and the dijet mass distribution are consistent with standard model background expectations, and we set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production…
A search for charged Higgs bosons produced via vector boson fusion and decaying into W and Z bosons using proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 15.2 inverse femtobarns collected with the CMS detector in 2015 and 2016. The event selection requires three leptons (electrons or muons), two jets with large pseudorapidity separation and high dijet mass, and missing transverse momentum. The observation agrees with the standard model prediction. Limits on the vector boson fusion production cross section times branching fra…

We present the latest results of the searches for new particles in hadronic final states performed in proton-antiproton collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV. The large data samples collected with the CDF and D0 detectors at the Tevatron collider between 1992 and 1995 allow searches for low cross section phenomena in dijet and multijet events, despite the hindrance of the high background from normal QCD processes. However, no signal for new physics is found, and the data show good agreement with QCD. Limits on the mass and on the cross section of the searched states can thus be set.
An overview of recent experimental searches for SUSY particles is presented. These searches are based on data collected by the CDF and the \D0 experiments operating at the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton collider with $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.96 TeV. The review focuses on searches for squarks and gluinos in final states with missing transverse energy and jets. Emphasis will be given to the search for the gluino decaying into a sbottom and $b$ quark with each sbottom decaying into a $b$ quark and a neutralino. This scenario yields events containing 4 $b$-jets and missing transverse energy.

We present a search for the pair-production of a non-standard-model strongly-interacting particle that decays to a pair of quarks or gluons, leading to a final state with four hadronic jets. We consider both non-resonant production via an intermediate gluon as well as resonant production via a distinct non-standard-model intermediate strongly-interacting particle. We use data collected by the CDF experiment in proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.6 fb$^{-1}$. We find the data to be consistent with standard model predictions. We repo…
