Given a vector bundle with integrable connection $(V,\nabla)$ on a curve, if $V$ is not itself semistable as a vector bundle then we can iterate a construction involving modification by the destabilizing subobject to obtain a Hodge-like filtration $F^p$ which satisfies Griffiths transversality. The associated graded Higgs bundle is the limit of $(V,t\nabla)$ under the de Rham to Dolbeault degeneration. We get a stratification of the moduli space of connections, with as minimal stratum the space of opers. The strata have fibrations whose fibers are Lagrangian subspaces of the moduli space.
We generalize a classical result by V. G. Sarkisov about standard models for conic bundles to the case of a not necessarily algebraically closed perfect field, using iterated root stacks, destackification, and resolution of singularities.
Let $(E,φ)$ be decorated vector bundle of type $(a,b,c,N)$ on a smooth projective curve $X$. There is a suitable semistability condition for such objects which has to be checked for any weighted filtration of $E$. We prove, at least when $a=2$, that it is enough to consider filtrations of length less or equal than two. In this case decorated bundles are very close to quadric bundles and to check semistability condition one can just consider the former. A similar result for L-twisted bundles and quadric bundles was already proved. Our proof provides an explicit algorithm which requires a destab…
In this article we study a special class of vector bundles, called tensors. A tensor consists of a vector bundle $E$ over a smooth irreducible projective variety and a morphism of vector bundles $φ$. As for classical vector bundles, there exists a notion of stability for these objects given in terms of filtrations of the vector bundle $E$. The aim of the present paper is to prove that if a destabilizing filtration is "too" long then there exists a shorter subfiltration which destabilizes as well. Moreover, we describe some related combinatorial problems, which arise from the description of a t…
We calculate the Euler characteristic of associated vector bundles over the moduli spaces of stable parabolic bundles on smooth curves. Our method is based on a wall-crossing technique from Geometric Invariant Theory, certain iterated residue calculus and the tautological Hecke correspondence. Our work was motivated by the results of Teleman and Woodward on the index of K-theory classes on moduli stacks.
We study vector bundles on the moduli stack of elliptic curves over a local ring R. If R is a field or a discrete valuation ring of (residue) characteristic not 2 or 3, all these vector bundles are sums of line bundles. For R the 3-local integers, we construct higher rank indecomposable vector bundles and give a classification of vector bundles that are iterated extensions of line bundles. For R the 2-local integers, we show that there are even indecomposable vector bundles of arbitrary high rank.
The purpose of this paper is to incorporate minimal free resolutions into the study of the birational geometry of the moduli space of coherent sheaves on the plane with character $ξ$, denoted by $M(ξ)$. We show that it is possible to recover the relevant Bridgeland destabilizing object from the minimal free resolution in order to compute the effective cone $\mathrm{Eff}(M(ξ))$ and conjecture a full relationship between Bridgeland destabilizing objects and minimal free resolutions. Moreover, we also prove that minimal free resolutions, paired with interpolation for vector bundles, yield the mov…
Using the Berline-Vergne integration formula for equivariant cohomology for torus actions, we prove that integrals over Grassmannians (classical, Lagrangian or orthogonal ones) of characteristic classes of the tautological bundle, can be expressed as iterated residues at infinity of some holomorphic functions of several variables. The results obtained for these cases, can be expressed as special cases of one formula, involving the Weyl group action on the characters of the natural representation of the torus.
A Bott tower is an iterated $\CP ^1$-bundle over a point, where each $\CP ^1$-bundle is the projectivization of a rank $2$ decomposable complex vector bundle. For a Bott tower, the filtered cohomology is naturally defined. We show that isomorphism classes of Bott towers are distinguished by their filtered cohomology rings. We even show that any filtered cohomology ring isomorphism between two Bott towers is induced by an isomorphism of the Bott towers.
In "On the calculation of some differential Galois groups" (Invent. Math. 87 (1987), no. 1), Katz defines the notion of a special flat connection on the complex affine line minus the origin, and he shows that the functor which restricts a flat connection to the punctured disc around the point at infinity gives rise to an equivalence between the category of special flat connections and the category of differential modules on the field of Laurent series over the complex numbers. In this article, we prove the corresponding statement over an algebraically closed field k of positive characteristic.…
On a smooth algebraic curve X with genus greater than 1 we consider a flat principal bundle with a reductive structure group S and a vector bundle associated with it. To this set of information we put in correspondence a pro-algebraic group on whose functional algebra we introduce a mixed Hodge structure. This construction, in fact, works for any smooth algebraic variety X which, considered as an analytic space, has a nonabelian first homotopy group, and the rest are trivial. The Hodge structure defined in this way can be expressed in terms of iterated integrals. Furthermore, considered in the…

Consider a family f:A --> U of g-dimensional abelian varieties over a quasiprojective manifold U. Suppose that the induced map from U to the moduli scheme of polarized abelian varieties is generically finite and that there is a projective manifold Y, containing U as the complement of a normal crossing divisor S, such that the sheaf of logarithmic one forms is nef and that its determinant is ample with respect to U. We characterize whether $U$ is a Shimura variety by numerical data attached to the variation of Hodge structures, rather than by properties of the map from U to the moduli scheme or…
For $C$ a complex curve and $n \geq 1$, a pair $(\mathcal{P},\nabla_\mathcal{P})$ of a principal bundle $\mathcal{P}$ with meromorphic flat connection over $C^n$, holomorphic over the configuration space $C_n(C)$ of $n$ points over $C$, was introduced in arXiv:1112.0864. For any point $\infty \in C$, we construct a trivialisation of the restriction of $\mathcal{P}$ to $(C\setminus\infty)^n$ and obtain a Maurer-Cartan element $J$ over $C_n(C\setminus\infty)$ out of $\nabla_\mathcal{P}$, thus generalising a construction of Levin and Racinet when the genus of $C$ is higher than one. We give expli…
We study the iterated blow-up X of projective space along an arbitrary collection of linear subspaces. By replacing the universal torsor with an $\mathbb{A}^1$-homotopy equivalent model, built from $\mathbb{A}^1$-fiber bundles not just algebraic line bundles, we construct an "algebraic uniformization": X is a quotient of affine space by a solvable group action. This provides a clean dictionary, using a single coordinate system, between the algebra and geometry of hypersurfaces: effective divisors are characterized via toric and invariant-theoretic techniques. In particular, the Cox ring is an …
Borel $(α,β)$-multitransforms and Quantum Leray-Hirsch: integral representations of solutions of quantum differential equations for $\mathbb P^1$-bundles
We give a new construction of noncommutative surfaces via elliptic difference operators, attaching a 1-parameter noncommutative deformation to any projective rational surface with smooth anticanonical curve. The construction agrees with one implicit in work of Van den Bergh (iterated blowups of noncommutative Hirzebruch surfaces), but the construction enables one to prove a number of new facts about these surfaces. We show that they are noncommutative smooth proper surfaces in the sense of Chan and Nyman, with projective Quot schemes, that moduli spaces of simple sheaves are Poisson and that m…
