We present a new formulation of the time-dependent self-interaction correction (TDSIC). It is derived variationally obeying explicitly the constraints on orthonormality of the occupied single-particle orbitals. The thus emerging rather involved symmetry condition amongst the orbitals is dealt with using two separate sets of (occupied) single-particle wavefunctions, related by a unitary transformation. The double-set TDSIC scheme is well suited for numerical implementation. We present results for laser-excited dynamics in a 1D model for a molecule and in fully fledged 3D calculations.
We develop a second order correction to commonly used density functional approximations (DFA) to eliminate the systematic delocalization error. The method, based on the previously developed global scaling correction (GSC), is an exact quadratic correction to the DFA for the fractional charge behavior and uses the analytical second derivatives of the total energy with respect to fractional occupation numbers of the canonical molecular orbitals. For small and medium-size molecules, this correction leads to ground-state orbital energies that are highly accurate approximation to the corresponding …
It was recently shown by Harlow that any quantum error correcting code, satisfying the same complementary recovery properties as AdS/CFT, will obey a version of the Ryu-Takayanagi formula. In his most general result, Harlow allowed the bulk algebras to have nontrivial center, which was necessary for the "area operator" in this Ryu-Takayanagi formula to be nontrivial. However, the boundary Hilbert space was still assumed to factorise into Hilbert spaces associated with complementary boundary regions. We extend this work to include more general boundary theories, such as gauge theories, where th…
Aiming at studying the emergence of Non-Equilibrium Steady States (NESS) in quantum integrable models by means of an exact analytical method, we focus on the Tonks-Girardeau or hard-core boson limit of the Lieb-Liniger model. We consider the abrupt expansion of a gas from one half to the entire confining box, a prototypical case of inhomogeneous quench, also known as "geometric quench". Based on the exact calculation of quench overlaps, we develop an analytical method for the derivation of the NESS by rigorously treating the thermodynamic and large time and distance limit. Our method is based …
We investigate the full quantum evolution of ultracold interacting bosonic atoms on a chain and coupled to an optical cavity. Extending the time-dependent matrix product state techniques and the many-body adiabatic elimination technique to capture the global coupling to the cavity mode and the open nature of the cavity, we examine the long time behavior of the system beyond the mean-field elimination of the cavity field. We investigate the many body steady states and the self-organization transition for a wide range of parameters. We show that in the self-organized phase the steady state consi…
The SWKB quantization condition is an exact quantization condition for the conventional shape-invariant potentials. On the other hand, this condition equation does not hold for other known solvable systems. The origin of the (non-)exactness is understood in the context of the quantum Hamilton--Jacobi formalism. First, we confirm the statement and show inexplicit properties numerically for the case of the conditionally exactly solvable systems by Junker and Roy. The SWKB condition breaks for this case, but the condition equation is restored within a certain degree of accuracy. We propose a nove…
