We further develop the constrained mass variable techniques to determine the mass scale of invisible particles pair-produced at hadron colliders. We introduce the constrained mass variable M_3C which provides an event-by-event lower bound and upper bound to the mass scale given the two mass differences between the lightest three new particle states. This variable is most appropriate for short symmetric cascade decays involving two-body decays and on-shell intermediate states which end in standard-model particles and two dark-matter particles. An important feature of the constrained mass variables is that they do not rely simply on the position of the end point but use the additional information contained in events which lie far from the end point. To demonstrate our method we study the supersymmetric model SPS 1a. We select cuts to study events with two Neutralino_2 each of which decays to Neutralino_1, and two opposite-sign same-flavor (OSSF) charged leptons through an intermediate on-shell slepton. We find that with 300 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity the invisible-particle mass can be measured to M=96.4 +/- 2.4 GeV. Combining fits to the shape of the M_3C constrained mass variable distribution with the max m_ll edge fixes the mass differences to +/- 0.2 GeV.
A class of extra dimensional models with a warped metric predict tunneling of a massive particle localized on our brane and escaping into additional dimensions. The experimental signature of this effect is the disappearance of the particle from our world, i.e. the particle $\to invisible$ decay. We point out that measurements of $Z\prime \to invisible$ decay width of a new heavy gauge boson $Z\prime$ at the CERN LHC can be effectively used to probe the existence of large extra dimensions. This result enhances motivations for a more sensitive search and study for this decay mode and suggests ad…
In this paper, we study the observability of an invisible Higgs boson at Fermilab Tevatron and CERN LHC through the production channel $ q \bar{q} \to Z H \to \ell^+\ell^-+ \ptmiss $, where $\ptmiss$ is reconstructed from the $\ell^+\ell^-$ with $\ell=e$ or $μ$. A new strategy is proposed to eliminate the largest irreducible background, namely $ q \bar{q} \to Z(\to \ell^+\ell^-) Z(\to ν\barν)$. This strategy utilizes the precise measurements of $ q \bar{q} \to Z(\to \ell^+\ell^-) Z(\to \ell^+\ell^-)$. For $m_H=120$ GeV and with luminosity $30 fb^{-1}$ at Tevatron, a $5σ$ observation of the inv…
We study the possibility of observing an `invisible' Higgs boson in central exclusive diffractive production at the LHC. We evaluate the cross section using, as a simple example, the Standard Model with a heavy fourth generation, where the invisible decay mode $H \to ν_4 \barν_4$ dominates, with the heavy neutrino mass $M(ν_4) \simeq 50$ GeV. We discuss the possible requirements on trigger conditions and the background processes.
Resonant production of the first generation vector diquarks at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is investigated. It is shown that the LHC will be able to discover vector diquarks with masses up to 9 TeV for quark-diquark-quark coupling alpha_(D)=0.1 and 4 TeV for alpha_(D)=5x10^(-4).
We present predictions for the inclusive production of charmed hadrons at the CERN LHC in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme at next-to-leading order. Detailed numerical results are compared to data where available, or presented in a way to ease future comparisons with experimental results. We also point out that measurements at large rapidity have the potential to pin down models of intrinsic charm.
Doubly charged Higgs bosons are very important in particle physics nowadays because they can give mass to neutrinos through seesaw mechanisms. In this work we present the results in the searching for doubly charged Higgs at the CERN LHC for a 3-3-1 model.
Potential of the LHC to determine the electromagnetic couplings of the $τ$ lepton is discussed via the process ${γγ\to τ^{+}τ}^{-}$. Highly improved constraints of the anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments have been obtained compared to the LEP sensitivity.
The discovery of the Higgs boson suggests that also neutrinos get their mass from spontaneous symmetry breaking. In the simplest ungauged lepton number scheme, the Standard Model (SM) Higgs has now two other partners: a massive CP-even, as well as the massless Nambu-Goldstone boson, called majoron. For weak-scale breaking of lepton number the invisible decays of the CP- even Higgs bosons to the majoron lead to potentially copious sources of events with large missing energy. Using LHC results we study how the constraints on invisible decays of the Higgs boson restrict the relevant parameters, s…
Results are presented of a feasibility study of techniques for measuring the mass of the lightest chargino at the CERN LHC. These results suggest that for one particular mSUGRA model a statistically significant chargino signal can be identified and the chargino mass reconstructed with a precision of order 11% for of order 100 fb-1 of data.
We have considered the di-photon production with unparticle at LHC. The contributions of spin-0 and spin-2 unparticle to the di-photon production are studied in the invariant mass and other kinematical distributions, along with their dependencies on the model dependent parameters. The signal corresponding to the unparticle is significant for moderate coupling constant values.
We discuss the possibility of identifying invisible objects (e.g. dark matter) via missing mass in Central Exclusive Processes; that is, in events where only forward protons are detected at the LHC. We show that the signal must have a cross section greater than 0.25 fb in order that it can be detected. We estimate the huge background caused by soft proton dissociation and evaluate the requirements of the detector `veto' system needed to sufficiently suppress these events. In addition, we discuss the related process leading to the possible identification of the particles from the so-called `com…
We present cross sections and differential distributions for QCD radiative corrections to the QCD processes pp -> W+2j and pp -> Z+2j at the CERN LHC. Calculations are performed with the Monte Carlo program MCFM. Cross section dependence on the renormalization and factorization scales is greatly reduced, except for the heavy-flavor case of Wbb~, which has new features at next-to-leading order at the LHC. We also present cross sections for Wbb~ and Z+2j in kinematic configurations relevant for Higgs boson searches.
We study the potential of the exclusive $pp\to p\ell^-\ell^+p$ process to probe excited leptons at the LHC which is known to be one of the most clean channel at the hadron colliders. The sensitivity of the model parameters is obtained 95% confidence level by considering three forward detector acceptances; $0.0015< ξ< 0.5$, $0.0015< ξ<0.15$ and $0.1< ξ< 0.5$.
With respect to large samples of $B_c$ mesons expected to be produced at CERN Large Hadron Collider(LHC) and the large branching ratios $Br(B_{c}\to τ\barν)$ and $Br(B_{c}\to μ\barν)$, we suggest that $B_c$ purely leptonic decays could offer an unique probe of the standard model and its extensions such as two Higgs doublet models and models involving supersymmetry, and also the structure of charged weak currents.
We discuss the potential of the photon-induced two lepton final states at the LHC to explore the phenomenology of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) tower of gravitons in the scenarios of the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali(ADD) model and Randall-Sundrum (RS) model. The sensitivity to model parameters can be improved compared to the present LEP or Tevatron sensitivity.
The invisible signals of right-handed sneutrino decays originating from a Z' are analysed at the Large Hadron Collider. The possibility of accessing these events helps disentangling the B-L extension of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model from more popular scenarios of Supersymmetry. We assess the scope of the CERN machine in establishing the aforementioned signatures when accompanied by mono-jet, single-photon or Z-radiation probes through sophisticated signal-to-background simulations carried out in presence of parton shower, hadronisation as well as detector effects. We find substantial s…
These lectures, given at the 1997 TASI Summer School, describe the prospects for discovering supersymmetry (SUSY) and for studying its properties at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. If SUSY exists at a mass scale less than 1--2 TeV, then it should be easy to observe characteristic deviations from the Standard Model at the LHC. It is more difficult to determine SUSY masses because in most models there are two missing particles \tildeχ_1^0 in every event. However, it is possible to use various kinematic distributions to make precision measurements of combinations of SUSY masses and other…
Assuming flat universal extra dimensions, we demonstrate that for a light Higgs boson the process $pp\to W^*W^* +X \to Higgs, graviscalars +X \to invisible+X$ will be observable at the $5 σ$ level at the LHC for the portion of the Higgs-graviscalar mixing ($ξ$) and effective Planck mass ($M_D$) parameter space where channels relying on visible Higgs decays fail to achieve a $5 σ$ signal. Further, we show that even for very modest values of $ξ$ the invisible decay signal probes to higher $M_D$ than does the ($ξ$-independent) jets/$\gam$ + missing energy signal from graviton radiation. We also di…
Potential of the LHC to explore the phenomenology of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) tower of gravitons in the scenarios of the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali(ADD) model and Randall-Sundrum (RS) model is discussed via the process ${γγ\to γγ}$ including the Standard Model one loop diagram. The improved constraints on model parameters have been obtained compared to the LEP and Tevatron sensitivity.
The dark photon ($A'$) production through the mixing with the bremsstrahlung photon from the electron scattering off nuclei can be accompanied by the dominant invisible $A'$ decay into dark-sector particles. In this work we discuss the missing energy signature of this process in the experiment NA64 aiming at the search for $A'\to invisible$ decays with a high-energy electron beam at the CERN SPS. We show the distinctive distributions of variables that can be used to distinguish the $A'\to invisible$ signal from background. The results of the detailed simulation of the detector response for the…
This work investigates the exclusive photoproduction of $ψ(2S)$ meson off nuclei evaluating the coherent and the incoherent contributions. The theoretical framework used in the present analysis is the light-cone dipole formalism and predictions are done for PbPb collisions at the CERN-LHC energy of 2.76 TeV. A comparison is done to the recent ALICE Collaboration data for the $ψ(1S)$ state photoproduction.
The 3-3-1 electroweak model is the simplest chiral extension of the standard model which predicts single and double charged bileptons and exotic quarks carrying -4/3 and 5/3 units of the positron charge. In this paper we study the possibilities of the production and decay of one of these exotic quarks at CERN LEPII-LHC collider. For typical vector bilepton, exotic quark masses and mixing angles we obtained between 20 and 750 events per year. Angular distributions are also presented.
The physics and world-wide accelerator context for possible accelerator projects at CERN after the LHC are reviewed, including the expectation that an e+ e- linear collider in the TeV energy range will be built elsewhere. Emphasis is laid on the Higgs boson, supersymmetry and neutrino oscillations as benchmarks for physics after the LHC. The default option for CERN's next major project may be the CLIC multi-TeV e+ e- collider project. Also interesting is the option of a three-step scenario for muon storage rings, starting with a neutrino factory, continuing with one or more Higgs factories, an…
We calculate the next-to-leading order inclusive total cross sections for the associated production processes $pp\to \tilde{t}_i\tildeχ_k^-+X$ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at the CERN LHC. Our results provide the theoretical predictions for the total cross sections for the above processes. The NLO QCD corrections in general enhance the leading order total cross sections significantly, and vastly reduce the dependence of the total cross sections on the renormalization/factorization scale, which leads to increased confidence in predictions based on these results.
The merging procedure of tree-level matrix elements and the subsequent parton shower as implemented in the new event generator SHERPA will be validated for the example of single gauge boson production at the LHC. The validation includes consistency checks and comparisons to results obtained from other event generators. In particular, comparisons with full next-to-leading order QCD calculations prove SHERPA's ability to correctly account for additional hard QCD radiation present in these processes.
One of the versions of the SU(3)$_L\otimesU(1)_N$ electroweak model predicts charged heavy-leptons which do not belong to any class of heavy-leptons proposed up to now. We investigate the production and signatures of pairs of these heavy-leptons {\it via} the Drell-Yan process and the gluon-gluon fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). As an example we study the decay of the exotic leptons into another ones. We see that the lifetime of the exotic leptons can be short.
We present a simple extension of the standard model (SM) to explain the diphoton excess, reported by CMS and ATLAS at CERN LHC. The SM is extended by a dark sector including a vector-like lepton doublet and a singlet of zero electromagnetic charge, which are odd under a $Z_2$ symmetry. These vector-like leptons assist the additional scalar, different from SM Higgs, to decay to di-photons of invariant mass around 750 GeV and thus explaining the excess observed at LHC. The admixture of neutral component of the vector-like lepton doublet and singlet constitute the dark matter component of the Uni…
The production of the \mssm\ Higgs bosons $H^0,h^0,A^0$ and $H^\pm$, in the intermediate mass range of the $A^0$, at two different values of $\tanβ$, is studied at the possible CERN LEP$\otimes$LHC $ep$ collider, through $γp$ interactions, by photons generated via Compton back--scattering of laser light. Signatures in which $H^0,h^0,A^0\ar b\bar b$ and $H^\pm\ar τν_τ$ are considered. Flavour identification on $b$--jets is assumed. Backgrounds to Higgs signals are computed. Explicit formulae for the helicity amplitudes of the Higgs processes are given.
The galactic center excess of gamma ray photons can be naturally explained by light Majorana fermions in combination with a pseudoscalar mediator. The NMSSM provides exactly these ingredients. We show that for neutralinos with a significant singlino component the galactic center excess can be linked to invisible decays of the Standard-Model-like Higgs at the LHC. We find predictions for invisible Higgs branching ratios in excess of 50 percent, easily accessible at the LHC. Constraining the NMSSM through GUT-scale boundary conditions only slightly affects this expectation. Our results complemen…
We study the feasibility of observing an invisibly decaying Z' at the LHC through the process pp -> ZZ' -> l+l-XX*, where X is any neutral, (quasi-) stable particle, whether a Standard Model (SM) neutrino or a new state. The measurement of the invisible width through this process facilitates both a model independent measurement of Gamma_{Z' -> \bar{nu} nu} and potentially detection of light neutral hidden states. Such particles appear in many models where the Z' is a messenger to a hidden sector, and also if dark matter is charged under the U(1)' of the Z'. We find that with as few as 30 fb^-1…
The single diffractive cross section for heavy quarks production is calculated in next-no-leading order (NLO) in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Such processes are expected to occur at the LHC. We start using the hard diffractive factorization formalism, taking into account the recent experimental parameterization for the Pomeron Structure Function (DPDF). Absorptive corrections are accounted by the multiple Pomeron contributions considering a gap survival probability, where its theoretical uncertainty for nuclear collisions is discussed. We estimate the diffractive ratios for single diffraction p…
The production of a neutral, CP even Higgs via weak boson fusion and decay H -> tau tau at the LHC is studied for the Standard Model and MSSM, utilizing a parton level Monte Carlo analysis. This channel allows a 5 sigma observation of a Standard Model Higgs with an integrated luminosity of about 30 fb^-1, and provides a direct measurement of the H-tau-tau coupling. For the MSSM case, a highly significant signal for at least one of the Higgs bosons with reasonable luminosity is possible over the entire physical parameter space which will be left unexplored by LEP2.
We report on a direct search for sub-GeV dark photons (A') which might be produced in the reaction e^- Z \to e^- Z A' via kinetic mixing with photons by 100 GeV electrons incident on an active target in the NA64 experiment at the CERN SPS. The A's would decay invisibly into dark matter particles resulting in events with large missing energy. No evidence for such decays was found with 2.75\cdot 10^{9} electrons on target. We set new limits on the γ-A' mixing strength and exclude the invisible A' with a mass < 100 MeV as an explanation of the muon g_μ-2 anomaly.
Neutrino mass generation through the Higgs mechanism not only suggests the need to reconsider the physics of electroweak symmetry breaking from a new perspective, but also provides a new theoretically consistent and experimentally viable paradigm. We illustrate this by describing the main features of the electroweak symmetry breaking sector of the simplest type-II seesaw model with spontaneous breaking of lepton number. After reviewing the relevant "theoretical" and astrophysical restrictions on the Higgs sector, we perform an analysis of the sensitivities of Higgs boson searches at the ongoin…
Higgs boson production in association with two tagging jets will be mediated by electroweak vector boson fusion and by gluon fusion processes at the CERN LHC. The characteristic distributions for the gluon fusion process are analyzed for the $H\to W^+W^-$ signal at $m_H=160$ GeV, with subsequent leptonic decay of the $W$-pair. The dominant backgrounds from top-quark pair production, $WWjj$ production and vector boson fusion processes can be suppressed to a level of $S/B\approx 1/4$, yielding a highly significant gluon fusion signal with 30 fb$^{-1}$. Analysis of the azimuthal angle correlation…
Deviations from SM expectations in the Higgs sector can be parameterized by an effective Lagrangian. The corresponding anomalous couplings have been implemented in a Monte Carlo program for Higgs production in vector boson fusion, at NLO QCD accuracy. It allows to study anomalous coupling effects for production and decay of the Higgs boson. We analyze deviations allowed by LEP data and study a new azimuthal angle variable which directly measures the interference between CP-even, CP-odd and SM couplings.
We show prospects on a search for invisible decays of a Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). This search is performed on a Higgs boson produced in association with a Z boson. We expect that the branching ratio of 17-22% (6-14%) could be excluded at 95% confidence level with 300 fb^{-1} (3000 fb^{-1}) of data at sqrt(s)=14 TeV. The range indicates different assumptions on the control of systematic uncertainties. Interpretations with Higgs-portal dark matter models are also considered.
Zt and gamma t production with Z -> l+ l- and t -> Wb -> l nu b provides the best determination of top flavour-changing neutral couplings at the LHC. The bounds on tc couplings eventually derived from these processes are similar to those expected from top decays, while the limits on tu couplings are better by a factor of two. The other significant Z and W decay modes are also investigated.
We investigate in detail the effects of the R-parity lepton number violation in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) on the parent process $pp \to e^+ e^- + X$ at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The numerical comparisons between the contributions of the R-parity violating effects to the parent process via the Drell-Yan subprocess and the gluon-gluon fusion are made. We find that the R-violating effects on $e^+ e^-$ pair production at the LHC could be significant. The results show that the cross section of the $ e^+ e^-$ pair productions via gluon-gluon collision at the LHC ca…
The photonuclear production of vector mesons in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions is investigated within the collinear approach using different parameterizations for the nuclear gluon distribution. The integrated cross section and the rapidity distribution for the $AA \to V AA$ ($V = J/Ψ, Υ$) process are computed for energies of RHIC and LHC. A comparison with the recent PHENIX data on coherent production of $J/Ψ$ mesons is also presented. We demonstrate that the study of the exclusive quarkonium photoproduction can be used to constrain the nuclear effects in the gluon distribution.
We present the results of an analysis for the pair production of scalar leptoquarks at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with energy=14 TeV and luminosity=10 fb^{-1} which includes the dominant sources of Standard Model background associated to this process: top-antitop, ZZ, WZ and Z*jj production. The top-antitop process provides the main source of background. We consider leptoquarks introduced in the framework of a superstring-inspired E_6 model. The leptoquark production is found to be dominant in all regions of parameter space for leptoquark masses below 750 GeV. We establish the discov…
A light Higgs boson with substantial branching ratio into invisible channels can occur in a variety of models with: light neutralinos, spontaneously broken lepton number, radiatively generated neutrino masses, additional singlet scalar(s) and/or right handed neutrinos in the extra dimensions of TeV scale gravity. We study the observability of the WH and ZH modes at LHC with H decaying invisibly, by carrying out a detailed simulation with two event generators HERWIG and PYTHIA and realistic detector simulations (GETJET and CMSJET). We find that the signal with `single lepton plus missing $E_T$'…
We study the supersymmetric version of the type-II seesaw mechanism assuming minimal supergravity boundary conditions. We calculate branching ratios for lepton flavour violating (LFV) scalar tau decays, potentially observable at the LHC, as well as LFV decays at low energy, such as $l_i \to l_j + γ$ and compare their sensitivity to the unknown seesaw parameters. In the minimal case of only one triplet coupling to the standard model lepton doublets, ratios of LFV branching ratios can be related unambigously to neutrino oscillation parameters. We also discuss how measurements of soft SUSY breaki…
The triply heavy baryons in the standard model formed in direct $c$ and $b$ quark fragmentation are the $Ω_{ccc}$, $Ω_{ccb}$, $Ω_{cbb}$ and $Ω_{bbb}$ baryons. We calculate their fragmentation functions in leading order of perturbative QCD. The universal fragmentation probabilities fall within the range of $10^{-5}-10^{-7}$.We also evaluate their cross section at the LHC ($\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV) using next-to-leading order matrix elements for heavy quark-antiquark pair production. We present the differential cross sections as functions of the transverse momentum as well as the total cross sections. …
In large extra dimension models the presence of an interaction between the Ricci scalar curvature and the Higgs doublet of the Standard Model can give rise to an invisible decay of the Higgs to Kaluza Klein graviscalars. The corresponding invisible width can cause a suppression of the LHC rates of a light Higgs in the visible channels below 5 sigma in some regions of the parameter space of the model. However in such regions the Higgs can be discovered through its invisible decay. The combination of the measurements done at the LHC and the LC can determine to some accuracy the parameters of the…
Establishing that a signal of new physics is undoubtly supersymmetric requires not only the discovery of the supersymmetric partners but also probing their spins and couplings. We show that the sbottom spin can be probed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider using only angular correlations in sbottom pair production with subsequent decay of sbottoms into bottom quark plus the lightest neutralino, which allow us to distinguish a universal extra dimensional interpretation with a fermionic heavy bottom quark from supersymmetry with a bosonic bottom squark. We demonstrate that this channel provides a …
We make a full tree level study of the signatures of anomalous gauge couplings of the Higgs boson at the CERN LHC via the semileptonic decay mode in WW scatterings. Both signals and backgrounds are studied at the hadron level for the Higgs mass in the range 115 GeV to 200 GeV. We carefully impose suitable kinematical cuts for suppressing the backgrounds. To the same sensitivity as in the pure leptonic mode, our result shows that the semileptonic mode can reduce the required integrated luminosity by a factor of 3. If the anomalous couplings in nature are actually larger than the sensitivity bou…
We evaluate the $t\bar{c}$ and $t\bar{u}$ productions at the LHC within the general unconstrained MSSM framework. We find that these single top quark productions induced by SUSY-QCD FCNC couplings have remarkable cross sections for favorable parameter values allowed by current low energy data, which can be as large as a few pb. Once large rates of the $t\bar{c}$ and $t\bar{u}$ productions are detected at the LHC, they may be induced by SUSY FCNC couplings. We show that the precise measurement of single top quark production cross sections at the LHC is a powerful probe for the details of the SU…
A study on the possibility of distinguishing new heavy Majorana neutrino models at LHC energies is presented. The experimental confirmation of standard neutrinos with non-zero mass and the theoretical possibility of lepton number violation find a natural explanation when new heavy Majorana neutrinos exist. These new neutrinos appear in models with new right-handed singlets, in new doublets of some grand unified theories and left-right symmetrical models. It is expected that signals of new particles can be found at the CERN high-energy hadron collider (LHC). We present signatures and distributi…
The production of the \sm\ Higgs $ϕ$ with intermediate mass at the proposed CERN LEP$\otimes$LHC $ep$ collider in $γq(\bar q)\rightarrow W^\pmϕq'(\bar q')$, $γq(\bar q)\rightarrow Z^0ϕq(\bar q)$ and $gγ\rightarrow q\bar qϕ$ events is studied. This is done for all possible (massive) flavours of the quarks $q(q')$ and using photons generated via Compton back--scattering of laser light. We study signatures in which the Higgs decays to $b\bar b$--pairs and the electroweak vector bosons $W^\pm$ and $Z^0$ decay either hadronically or leptonically. All possible backgrounds to these signals are also c…
Top decays into a light Higgs boson and an up or charm quark can reach detectable levels in Standard Model extensions with two Higgs doublets or with new exotic quarks, and in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Using both a standard and a neural network analysis we show that the CERN Large Hadron Collider will give 3 sigma evidence of decays with Br(t -> Hc) >= 6.5 10^-5 or set a limit Br(t -> Hc) <= 4.5 10^-5 with a 95% confidence level if these decays are not observed. We also consider limits obtained from single top production associated with a neutral Higgs boson.
We propose a class of forward-backward asymmetries with respect to the subprocess c.m. scattering angle in $V$+jet production at hadron colliders, with V being any of (W, Z, $γ$, H), which are directly proportional to the gluon distribution $g(x)$. The informations that these asymmetries can provide are complementary of those reachable from measurements of the transverse momentum and/or the rapidity distributions of a $V$ in kinematical regimes where gluon scattering subprocesses dominate. The accuracy which can be reached in the W, Z and $γ$ cases, at the upgraded Tevatron and at LHC, should …
If a heavy Dirac monopole exists, the light to light scattering below the monopole production threshold is enhanced due to the strong coupling of monopoles to photons. This effect could be observable in the collision of virtual photons at proton colliders. At the Tevatron it will be seen as pair production of photons with energies 200--400 GeV and roughly compensated transverse momenta 100--400 GeV/c. This effect could be seen at monopole masses about 1--2.5 TeV at the upgraded Tevatron and 7.4--19 TeV at LHC depending on monopole spin.
We provide the next-to-leading order (NLO) predictions for the neutralino pair production via quark-antiquark annihilation and gluon-gluon fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, focusing on the lightest neutralino which is likely to be the lightest supersymmetric particle. The dependence of total LO, NLO cross sections, and $K$ factor on the center-of-mass energy, the $M_2$-$μ$ mass plane, the squark mass, and the factorization and renormalization scales is comprehensively analyzed for three different scenarios in the minimal supersymmetric standard model and the constrained minimal supersy…
Current CERN Large Hadron Collider data on the 126 GeV standard model-like Higgs boson suggest the possibility of larger Higgs boson couplings with the weak gauge bosons, $g_{hVV}$, than those in the standard model. We use the Georgi-Machacek model as an explicit model to realize such a scenario. We find that the $g_{hVV}$ couplings can be larger than the standard model value by a factor of about 1.3 maximally in the parameter region consistent with the current Higgs boson search data and allowed by various other constraints. We then show how the modified $g_{hVV}$ couplings lead to enhancemen…
CERN LHC provides a good experimental platform to perturbatively probe the fundamental gravity scale up to several TeV, with the precise value depending on the number of extra dimensions. The leading experimental signal of graviton at LHC is from the process $pp\to jet+{E\slash}_T$, where ${E\slash}_T$ stands for the transverse missing energy. A detailed discussion on the hadronic production of real graviton through hard subprocesses: $q\bar{q}\to G+g$, $g+q\to G+q$ and $g+g\to G+g$ have been studied within the quantum gravity theory with large extra dimensions. The main theoretical uncertaint…
