The possible actions of symmetry groups on generalized Higgs fields coupled to an Einstein-Yang-Mills field are studied with differential geometrical techniques involving principal and associated bundles. A classification of conjugacy classes of these actions and the form of the corresponding invariant Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs (EYMH) fields is obtained and then applied to the case of static spherically symmetric fields over four dimensional space-time. The representations of the gauge group for which spherically symmetric Higgs fields exist are identified and the set of all field equations for the independent functions that describe these fields is analyzed and the corresponding ordinary system of differential equations is derived and shown to be consistent.
General-relativistic perturbation equations for the dynamics of elastic deformable astronomical bodies expanded in terms of generalized spherical harmonics
We firstly present a new asymptotical flat and spherically symmetric solution in the generalized Einstein-Cartan-Kibble-Sciama (ECKS) theory of gravity and then investigate the propagation of photon in this background. This solution possesses three independent parameters which affect sharply photon sphere, deflection angle of light ray and gravitational lensing. Since the condition of existence of horizons is not inconsistent with that of photon sphere, there exists a special case where there is horizon but no photon sphere in this spacetime. Especially, we find that in this special case, the …
Here we report a developed high performance and simplified version of the code denominated RIO, which can be easily extended, for the generalized BSSN formulation. We implement a code which is regular at the center of symmetry, without use a special procedure for regularization, as usual. We get exponential convergence for constraints. The numerical algorithm is based on the Galerkin-Collocation method developed successfully for diverse physical scenarios by the Numerical Relativity Group at UERJ. For the sake of clarity in presentation, we consider here the most simple case to display the mos…
The concept of turnaround surface in an accelerating universe is generalized to arbitrarily large deviations from spherical symmetry, to close the gap between the idealized theoretical literature and the real world observed by astronomers. As an analytical application, the characterization of turnaround surface is applied to small deviations from spherical symmetry, recovering a previous result while extending it to scalar-tensor gravity.
We are interested in the global dynamics of a massive scalar field evolving under its own gravitational field and, in this paper, we study spherically symmetric solutions to Einstein's field equations coupled with a Klein-Gordon equation with quadratic potential. For the initial value problem we establish a global existence theory when initial data are prescribed on a future light cone with vertex at the center of symmetry. A suitably generalized solution in Bondi coordinates is sought which has low regularity and possibly large but finite Bondi mass. A similar result was established first by …
We derive an approximate expression for the entropy of Hawking radiation filling a spherical box in stable thermodynamic equilibrium with the Schwarzschild black hole that produced the said radiation. The Bekenstein entropy bound is satisfied but the generalized second law might not be always guaranteed. We briefly discuss the possible origin of this unexpected result.
