Precise measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters and of neutrino-nucleon cross-sections require a good understanding of neutrino beams: flux as a function of energy, transverse beam profile, and flavour composition. For this, hadron production spectra in proton-nucleus collisions are essential. We report on double-differential inclusive large-angle cross-sections of the production of secondary protons and charged pions, in the interactions with a 5% lambda thick stationary beryllium target, of proton and pion beams with momentum from 3 GeV/c to 15 GeV/c. Our results show cross-sections reported by the 'HARP Collaboration' to be wrong by factors of up to two.
We review status of $R$ measurement and QCD studies at low energy range, discuss prospects for a super $τ-$charm factory in $2-7$ GeV. With a high-luminosity $e^+e^-$ collider, statistics are no longer problem for $R$ measurement and a precision of $2\%$ or even better is foreseen, that will lead to bring down the uncertainty of hadronic contribution to the QED running coupling constant $Δα_{had}$ and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon ($a_μ$); measure the strong coupling constant $α_s$ and the charm quark mass; improve the measurement of the resonance parameters of heavy charmonia. Hug…
High-precision tests of local Lorentz invariance, via monitoring of the sidereal time variation of the photon energies emitted by ultrarelativistic heavy-ion beams and of the beam momentum, are proposed. This paper includes descriptions of the physics ideas and the concept for the detector. The experiment results will allow high-precision tests of LLI via anisotropy of the maximum attainable speed of a photon and an ion. The projected accuracy for the asymmetries interpreted in the framework of the anisotropic relativistic mechanics corresponds to the limit on sidereal time variation of the on…
Open charm hadrons are excellent probe to study the dynamics of quarks and gluons inside hadrons. Because the mass of a charm quark is heavier than $Λ_{QCD}$, the so called heavy quark symmetry emerges in the hadron containing a charm quark and plays a central role in the classification and constraining the interactions. Belle and BaBar, which are B-factory experiments, have made significant advances in the field of open charm hadron spectroscopy in these 15 years. In this article, experimental advances on both open charm mesons and baryons by B-factory experiments are reviewed. Finally, the p…
A future linear collider such as TESLA may be able to run on the Z0 resonance with very high luminosity and polarised electron and positron beams. The possibilities of measuring electroweak quantities with high precision are investigated. Huge improvements with respect to the present precision can be expected, especially for the asymmetries A_LR and A_b where beam polarisation can be exploited. The very large sample of Z to bbbar events also allows studies of various CP-violating b decays. The precision achievable on the CKM unitarity triangle angles is comparable to experiments at b factories…
Considering the constraints from the flavor physics, precision electroweak measurements, Higgs data and dark matter detections, we scan over the parameter space of the MSSM and calculate the cross section of $e^+e^- \to h γ$ in the allowed parameter space. Since the loop-induced gauge couplings $hγγ$ and $hZγ$ can simultaneously contribute to the process $e^+e^- \to h γ$, we find the cross section can be sizably enhanced by a light stau, maximally 1.47(1.38) times larger than the SM prediction at $\sqrt{s}=240(350)$ GeV. So with the high luminosity, the measurement of $e^+e^- \to h γ$ may be u…
The measurement of the $σ(e^+e^-\rightarrow π^+π^-)$ cross section allows to determine the pion form factor $| F_π|^2$ and the two pion contribution to the muon anomaly $a_μ$. Such a measurement has been performed with the KLOE detector at $DAΦNE$, the Frascati $ϕ$-factory.The preliminary results on the combination of the last analysis (KLOE12) with two previous published (KLOE08, KLOE10) will be presented in the following.
Hadron production is a key ingredient in many aspects of neutrino physics. Precise prediction of atmospheric neutrino fluxes, characterization of accelerator neutrino beams, quantification of pion production and capture for neutrino factory designs, all of these would profit of high-statistics, high-precision hadron production measurements. In addition, such data is needed for the calibration of Monte-Carlo hadron production models. The HARP experiment at CERN is performing extensive measurements of cross sections and secondary particle yields to address these problems.
Inspired by the recent discovery of the $X(6900)$ meson at {\tt LHCb} experiment, we investigate the inclusive production rate of the $C$-odd fully-charmed tetraquarks associated with light hadrons at the $B$ factory within the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization framework. The short-distance coefficient is computed at lowest order in velocity and $α_s$. Employing the diquark-antidiquark model to roughly estimate the long-distance NRQCD matrix elements, we predict the rate for inclusive production of the $1^{+-}$ $T_{4c}$ state and discuss the observation prospects at {\tt Belle 2} exper…
We report the first measurement of branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries of suppressed B- -> DK- decays in hadron collisions, using the approach proposed by Atwood, Dunietz, and Soni (ADS) to determine the CKM angle gamma in 7.0 fb^-1 of data. The ADS parameters are determined with accuracy comparable with B-factory measurements and significantly improve the global knowledge of the angle gamma.
The radiative return is a new method for hadronic cross section measurements at electron-positron colliders, which are operated at a fixed center-of-mass energy. In order to lower the effective hadronic mass M_hadr only such events are taken, in which one of the electrons or positrons has emitted an initial state radiation photon. We present precision measurements of the pion form factor from the Frascati phi-factory DAPHNE with the KLOE experiment and measurements of higher particle multiplicities as well as a measurement of the timelike proton-antiproton form factor from the BaBar experiment…
The results of LSND have yet to be confirmed at the $5 σ$-level. An experiment is proposed utilizing a 3 GeV muon storage ring that would allow for both disappearance and appearance channels to be explored at short-baselines. The appearance channel could provide well over $5 σ$ confirmation or rejection of the LSND result. Other physics could also be performed at such a facility such as the measurement of electron-neutrino cross sections. The sensitivity of experiments at a Very Low Energy Neutrino Factory (VLENF) to neutrinos at the eV-scale is presented.
A historical summary is made on the measurements concerning the rising total hadron-hadron cross sections at high energies. The first part of this paper concerns the total cross section measurements performed at the Brookhaven, Serpukhov and Fermilab fixed target accelerators; then the measurements at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings (ISR), and at the CERN and at the Tevatron Fermilab proton-antiproton colliders; finally the cosmic ray measurements at even higher energies. A short discussion on Conclusions and Perspectives follows.
Motivated by the future precision test of the Higgs boson at an $e^+e^-$ Higgs factory, we calculate the production $e^+e^- \to ZHγ$ in the Standard Model with complete next-to-leading order electroweak corrections. We find that for $\sqrt{s}=240$ (350) GeV the cross section of this production is sizably reduced by the electroweak corrections, which is $1.03$ (5.32) fb at leading order and 0.72 (4.79) fb at next-to-leading order. The transverse momentum distribution of the photon in the final states is also presented.
The KLOE experiment at the DA$Φ$NE $ϕ$-factory has performed a new precise measurement of the pion form factor using Initial State Radiation events. Results based on an integrated luminosity of 240 pb$^{-1}$ and extraction of the $ππ$ contribution to $a_μ$ in the mass range $0.35< M^2_{ππ}<0.95$ GeV$^2$ are presented. The new value of $a^{ππ}_μ$ has smaller statistical and systematic error and is consistent with the KLOE published value (confirming the current disagreement between the Standard Model prediction for $a_μ$ and the measured value).
We present a study of the reaction e+e- \to pi+pi-gamma at the phi peak with the KLOE detector at the phi-factory DAPHNE. This reaction allows us to obtain the cross section for \e+e- \to pi+pi- from the e+e- center-of-mass energy W = m_ϕ= 1019 MeV down to threshold, i.e. 2m_pi < M_(pipi) < m_phi. This is called radiative return. The status of the analysis and preliminary results on the invariant mass spectrum of the two-pion-state are presented.
The total hadronic cross-section for the interaction of real photons is extracted from a measurement of the cross-section of the process e+e->e+e- + hadrons using a luminosity function for the photon flux and form factors for extrapolating to Q**2=0. The data was taken with the OPAL detector at LEP at e+e- centre-of-mass energies of 161 GeV and 172 GeV. In the energy range 10 < W < 110 GeV the total hadronic photon-photon cross-section is consistent with the Regge behaviour of the total cross-section observed in γp and hadron-hadron interactions.
Using the CLEO III detector, we measure absolute cross sections for e+e- --> hadrons at seven center-of-mass energies between 6.964 and 10.538 GeV. The values of R, the ratio of hadronic and muon pair production cross sections, are determined within 2% total r.m.s. uncertainty.
We discuss short-baseline and very-short-baseline electron neutrino disappearance at a neutrino factory. We take into account geometric effects, such as from averaging over the decay straights, and the uncertainties of the cross sections. We follow an approach similar to reactor experiments with two detectors: we use two sets of near detectors at different distances to cancel systematics. We demonstrate that such a setup is very robust with respect to systematics, and can have excellent sensitivities to the effective mixing angle and squared-mass splitting. In addition, we allow for CPT invari…
The uncertainties of the Standard Model prediction of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon are currently completely dominated by hadronic contributions. The largest contribution is due to the hadronic vacuum polarization. Hadronic cross sections measured at $e^+e^-$ colliders can be exploited as experimental input to improve the calculations, making use of the optical theorem. At the BESIII experiment in Beijing these cross sections are determined using different methods. At center-of-mass energies above 2 GeV exclusive and inclusive cross sections can be measured in an energy scan. Addit…
Using the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer (BESII), we have measured the total cross section for $e^+e^-$ annihilation into hadronic final states at center-of-mass energies of 2.6, 3.2, 3.4, 3.55, 4.6 and 5.0 GeV. Values of $R$, $σ(e^+e^-\to {hadrons})/σ(e^+e^-\toμ^+μ^-)$, are determined.
The HARP and NA61/SHINE hadroproduction experiments as well as their implications for neutrino physics are discussed. HARP measurements have already been used for predictions of neutrino beams in K2K and Mini-BooNE/SciBooNE experiments and are also being used to improve the atmospheric neutrino flux predictions and to help in the optimization of neutrino factory and super-beam designs. First measurements released recently by the NA61/SHINE experiment are of significant importance for a precise prediction of the J-PARC neutrino beam used for the T2K experiment. Both HARP and NA61/SHINE experime…
Data from atmospheric and solar neutrinos indicate that there are at least three neutrino types involved in oscillation phenomena. Even if the corresponding neutrino mass scales are very different, the inevitable reference to mixing between more than two neutrino types has profound consequences on the planning of the accelerator experiments suggested by these results. We discuss the measurement of mixing angles and CP phases in the context of the neutrino beam emanating from a {\it neutrino factory}: the straight sections of a muon storage ring. We emphasize the importance of charge identifica…
The determination of parton distribution functions in the nucleon and nuclei is important for obtaining precise hadron-reaction cross sections, from which any new exotic signature could be found. We show that a future neutrino factory could provide important information on the parton distributions. First, a recent effort concerning the parametrization of nuclear parton distributions is explained. It suggests that the factory should be important for determining unknown behavior of valence-quark distributions in nuclei at small $x$. Second, the facility could be used for understanding nucleon sp…
We report values of $R = σ(e^+e^-\to {hadrons})/σ(e^+e^-\toμ^+μ^-)$ for 85 center-of-mass energies between 2 and 5 GeV measured with the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider.
The BESIII experiment at the Beijing tau-charm factory BEPCII recently has embarked on a series of form factor measurements with the goal to improve the hadronic vacuum polarization as well as the hadronic light-by-light contributions to (g-2)mu. The status of the flagship measurements and preliminary results are presented
Numerous channels of the cross section e+e- --> hadrons have been measured by the BABAR experiment using the ISR method. For the pi+pi-(gamma) and K+K-(gamma) channels, BABAR has pioneered the method based on the ratio between the hadronic mass spectra and mu+mu-(gamma). Many systematic uncertainties cancel in the ratio, hence the precise measured cross sections. These measurements have been exploited for phenomenological studies, like the determination of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (g-2)_mu.
The ISR method has been largely exploited by the BABAR experiment, for measuring numerous channels of the cross section e+e- into hadrons. For the pi+pi-(gamma) and K+K-(gamma) channels, BABAR has pioneered the method based on the ratio between the hadronic mass spectra and the mu+mu-(gamma) one. This method allows to cancel many systematic uncertainties in the ratio, hence the precise measured cross sections. Many multihadronic channels have also been studied using the ISR method, and cross sections have been published. These experimental results have also been exploited for phenomenological …
The b-hadron production cross section is measured with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, using 3.3 pb^-1 of integrated luminosity, collected during the 2010 LHC run. The b-hadrons are selected by partially reconstructing D*muX final states. Differential cross sections are measured as functions of the transverse momentum and pseudorapidity. The measured production cross section for a b-hadron with pT>9 GeV and |eta|<2.5 is 32.7 pm 0.8 (stat) ^{+4.5}_{-6.8} (syst) ub, higher than the next-to-leading-order QCD predictions but consistent within the experimental and theoretica…
Using the data sets of 17.3 pb$^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s}=$ 3.773 GeV and 6.5 pb$^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s}=$ 3.650 GeV with the BESII detector at the BEPC collider, we have measured the observed cross sections for 18 exclusive light hadron final states produced in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at the two energy points.
We discuss the impact of near detectors at a neutrino factory both on standard oscillation and non-standard interaction measurements. Our systematics treatment includes cross section errors, flux errors, and background uncertainties, and our near detector fluxes include the geometry of the neutrino source and the detector. Instead of a specific detector concept, we introduce qualitatively different classes of near detectors with different characteristics, such as near detectors catching the whole neutrino flux (near detector limit) versus near detectors observing a spectrum similar to that of …
A measurement of the b-hadron production cross section in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV is presented. The dataset, corresponding to 85 inverse nanobarns, was recorded with the CMS experiment at the LHC using a low-threshold single-muon trigger. Events are selected by the presence of a muon with transverse momentum greater than 6 GeV with respect to the beam direction and pseudorapidity less than 2.1. The transverse momentum of the muon with respect to the closest jet discriminates events containing b hadrons from background. The inclusive b-hadron production cross section is presen…
This review discusses the measurements of the inclusive jet and dijet cross section performed by the experimental collaborations at the LHC during what is now being called LHC Run 1 (2009 - 2013). It summarises some of the experimental challenges and the techniques used in the measurements of jets cross sections during the LHC Run 1.
We present a new measurement of the inclusive and differential production cross sections of $J/ψ$ mesons and $b$-hadrons in proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1960$ GeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 39.7 pb$^{-1}$ collected by the CDF Run II detector. We find the integrated cross section for inclusive $J/ψ$ production for all transverse momenta from 0 to 20 GeV/$c$ in the rapidity range $|y|<0.6$ to be $4.08 \pm 0.02 (stat)^{+0.36}_{-0.33} (syst) μ{\rm b}$. We separate the fraction of $J/ψ$ events from the decay of the long-lived $b$-hadrons using the lifetime dist…
We present some recent results in hadronic decays and cross-section measurements at Psi(3770) from CLEO collaboration. They include measurement of absolute hadronic branching fractions of D mesons and e+e- to DDbar cross-sections, inclusive production of eta, eta', phi in D decays, branching fractions of D+ to K0_{S,L} pi+ and eta pi+, Psi(3770) non-DDbar decays, and timelike electromagnetic form factors of pion, kaon and proton. These results are based on 55.8 pb-1 and 281 pb-1 at Psi(3770), and other data samples collected by the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR).
In this talk I will review the experimental status and the prospects for the future of $σ(e^+ e^- \to hadrons)$ at low energy. The recent preliminary results obtained by KLOE and BABAR collaborations using the radiative return will be also discussed.
Initial state radiation (ISR) plays an important role in $e^+$$e^-$ collision experiments such as the BESIII. To correct the ISR effects in measurements of hadronic cross-sections of $e^+e^-$ annihilation, an iterative method that weights simulated ISR events is proposed here to assess the efficiency of event selection and the ISR correction factor for the observed cross-section. The simulated ISR events were generated only once, and the obtained cross-sectional line shape was used iteratively to weigh the same simulated ISR events to evaluate the efficiency and corrections until the results c…
In the fixed energy environment of the $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider DA$Φ$NE, KLOE can measure the cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to hadrons$ as a function of the hadronic system energy using the radiative return method. At energies below 1 GeV, $e^{+}e^{-} \to ρ\to π^{+}π^{-}$ is the dominating hadronic process. We report here on the status of the analysis of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to π^{+}π^{-}γ$. Some preliminary results on the invariant mass spectrum of the two pion system, obtained from the analysis of 22.6 pb$^{-1}$, are presented.
We report a measurement of the production cross section for b hadrons in p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. Using a data sample derived from an integrated luminosity of 83 pb^-1 collected with the upgraded Collider Detector (CDF II) at the Fermilab Tevatron, we analyze b hadrons, H_b, partially reconstructed in the semileptonic decay mode H_b -> mu^- D^0 X. Our measurement of the inclusive production cross section for b hadrons with transverse momentum p_T > 9 GeV/c and rapidity |y|<0.6 is sigma = 1.30 mub +/- 0.05 mub(stat) +/- 0.14 mub (syst) +/- 0.07 mub (B), where the uncertainties are…
The reaction e+e- -> e+e- gamma* gamma* -> e+e- hadrons for quasi-real photons is studied using data from root(s) = 183 GeV up to 202 GeV. Results on the total cross sections sigma(e+e- -> e+e- hadrons) and sigma(+e- gamma* gamma* -> e+e- hadrons) are given for the two-photon centre-of-mass energies 5 GeV < Wgammagamma < 185 GeV. The total cross section of two real photons is described by a Regge parametrisation. We observe a steeper rise with the two-photon centre-of-mass energy as compared to the hadron-hadron and the photon-proton cross sections. The data are also compared to the expectatio…
We have updated our measurement of the cross section for e^+e^- -> psi(3770) -> hadrons, our publication "Measurement of sigma(e^+e^- -> psi(3770) -> hadrons) at E_{c.m.} = 3773 MeV", arXiv:hep-ex/0512038, Phys.Rev.Lett.96, 092002 (2006). Simultaneous with this arXiv update, we have published an erratum in Phys.Rev.Lett.104, 159901 (2010). There, and in this update, we have corrected a mistake in the computation of the error on the difference of the cross sections for e^+e^- -> psi(3770) -> hadrons and e^+e^- -> psi(3770) -> DDbar. We have also used a more recent CLEO measurement of cross sect…
We present the first exclusive observation of the ttbar to hadronic tau + jets decay channel. Using these events from 1.96 TeV ppbar collisions at CDF, we measure the ttbar cross section as well as the top quark mass. Events require a single hadronic tau, large missing transverse energy, and exactly 4 jets of which at least one must be tagged as a b jet. The cross section measurement is extracted from a Poisson likelihood function based on the observed number of events and the predicted number of signal and background events for a given ttbar cross section. The mass is extracted from a likelih…
The impact of heavy mediators on neutrino oscillations is typically described by non-standard four-fermion interactions (NSIs) or non-unitarity (NU). We focus on leptonic dimension-six effective operators which do not produce charged lepton flavor violation. These operators lead to particular correlations among neutrino production, propagation, and detection non-standard effects. We point out that these NSIs and NU phenomenologically lead, in fact, to very similar effects for a neutrino factory, for completely different fundamental reasons. We discuss how the parameters and probabilities are r…
A number of charmonium-(bottmonium-)like states have been observed in $B$-factory experiments. Recently the BESIII experiment has joined this search with a unique data sample collected at the different center of mass energies ranging from 3.9 GeV to 4.42 GeV in which they found new charmonium-like states with non-zero electric charge. We review the status of experimental searchs for quarkomonium-like states and also other types of non-$q\bar{q}$ meson or non-$qqq$ baryons that are predicted by QCD-motivated models. We mainly focus on results from the $B$-factories and BESIII.
An almost model-independent parametrization for the ratio of the total hadronic cross section to elastic slope is discussed. Its applicability in studies of asymptotia and analyses of extensive air shower in cosmic-ray physics is also outlined.
This paper focuses on disagreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results of the production properties of Bc meson. Hadronic decays of Bc are used to separate predictions of production cross section and predictions of branching ratio. The branching ratios of Bc decays to J/psi + πand to J/psi + 3πare also presented.
The contribution of both inclusive and exclusive cross-section data from HERA to our knowledge of parton distribution functions is reviewed and future prospects are outlined.
Electron--positron annihilation into hadrons plus an energetic photon from initial-state radiation allows the hadronic cross-section to be measured over a wide range of energies at high luminosity meson factories. Weighted integrals over this cross-section are a decisive input for electroweak precision tests. A Monte Carlo event generator called PHOKHARA has been developed, which simulates $e^+ e^- \to$ hadrons + photon(s) at the NLO accuracy. The latest tests and upgrades are presented in this paper.
We discuss short-baseline electron and muon neutrino disappearance searches into sterile neutrinos at a Very Low Energy Neutrino Factory (VLENF) with a muon energy between about two and four GeV. A lesson learned from reactor experiments, such as Double Chooz and Daya Bay, is to use near and far detectors with identical technologies to reduce the systematical errors. We therefore derive the physics results from a combined near-far detector fit and illustrate that uncertainties on cross sections x efficiencies can be eliminated in a self-consistent way. We also include the geometry of the setup…
Measurements of cross-sections and transverse single spin asymmetries of identified charged hadrons at forward rapidities from transversely polarized proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV are presented. The results are discussed in the context of interplay between perturbative and non-perturbative QCD effects.
The Born cross section and dressed cross section of $e^+e^-$ to $b\bar{b}$ and the total hadronic cross section in $e^+e^-$ annihilation in the bottomonium energy region are calculated based on the Rb values measured by the BaBar and Belle experiments. The data are used to calculate the vacuum polarization factors in the bottomonium energy region, and to determine the resonant parameters of the vector bottomonium(-like) states, the Y(10750), Upsilon(5S), and Upsilon(6S).
I present results for the theoretical cross section of single top quark production in the s channel and also via associated production with a W boson or a charged Higgs. The calculations include higher-order corrections at NNLL accuracy. Detailed numerical results are provided for Tevatron and LHC energies.
The BaBar Collaboration has an intensive program of studying hadronic cross sections at low-energy $e^+e^-$ collisions, accessible via initial-state radiation. Our measurements allow significant improvements in the precision of the predicted value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment, that shed light on the current $\approx$ 3.5 sigma difference between the predicted and the experimental values. We have published results on a number of processes with two to six hadrons in the final state. We report here the results of recent studies with the final states that constitute the main contribution …
The KLOE experiment at the $ϕ-factory$ DA$Φ$NE in Frascati is the first to have employed Initial State Radiation (ISR) to precisely determine the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-(γ)$ cross section below 1 GeV. Such a measurement is particularly important to test the Standard Model (SM) calculation for the $(g-2)$ of the muon, where a long standing 3$σ$ discrepancy is observed. I will review the ISR activity in KLOE in the last 18 years from the measurement of the hadronic cross section to the first direct determination of the time-like complex running $α(s)$ in the region below 1 GeV.
We show how universal, Froissart-like hadronic total cross sections can be obtained in QCD in the functional-integral approach to soft high-energy scattering, and we discuss indications of this behaviour obtained from lattice simulations.
We study the role of low momentum transfer (soft) interactions between high-transverse momentum heavy particles and beam remnants (spectators) in hadronic collisions. Such final-state interactions are power suppressed for single-particle inclusive cross sections whenever that particle is accompanied by a recoiling high-p_T partner whose momentum is not fixed. An example is the single-top inclusive cross section in top pair production. Final-state soft interactions in multi-particle inclusive cross sections, including transverse momentum distributions, however, produce leading power corrections…
In the present investigation we study the leading and subleading high-energy behavior of hadron-hadron total cross sections using a best-fit analysis of hadronic scattering data. The parametrization used for the hadron-hadron total cross sections at high energy is inspired by recent results obtained by Giordano and Meggiolaro (2014) using a nonperturbative approach in the framework of QCD and it reads $σ_\text{tot} \sim B\ln^2 s + C\ln s\ln\ln s$. Both $B$ and $C$ are obtained by means of best-fits to data for proton-proton and antiproton-proton scattering, including recent data obtained at th…
We describe CIJET1.0, a Fortran program that aiming for the calculation of single-inclusive jet or dijet production cross sections induced by quark contact interactions from new physics at hadron colliders, up to next-to-leading order in QCD. It covers various contact interactions with different chiral and color structures. The code is designed in a way that could be used for fast calculations with arbitrary parton distribution functions based on interpolations of the QCD coupling constant and parton distribution functions.
The measurement of the hadronic cross-section in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation at high luminosity factories using the radiative return method is motivated and discussed. A Monte Carlo generator which simulates the radiative process $e^+ e^- \to γ+hadrons$ at the next-to-leading order accuracy is presented. The analysis is then extended to the description of events with hard photons radiated at very small angle.
