We obtain tree-level estimates of various differential branching ratios of heavy baryon decays with massive sterile neutrinos $ν_{x}$ in the final state. Heavy sterile neutrinos can be searched for in heavy baryon decays with missing mass as a signature as well as in fixed target experiments, where heavy baryon decays contribute to sterile neutrino production, with sterile neutrino decays as a signature. Generally, charmed baryons are found to be less promising than charmed mesons, in contrast to b-hadrons. In the latter case, branching ratios of beauty mesons and baryons into sterile neutrinos are of the same order. As a consequence, at high energies beauty baryons give contribution to sterile neutrino production comparable to the contribution of beauty mesons (up to about 15%). Experimental limits on active-to-sterile mixing are quite strong for neutrinos lighter than D-meson but for heavier neutrinos they are weaker. As an example, for neutrino masses in the range 2 GeV $\lesssim m_{ν_{x}}\lesssim 2.5$ GeV, current data imply that the bounds on $Λ_{b}$-hyperon branching ratios into sterile neutrinos are ${\rm Br}(Λ_b\toΛ_c+e^-+ν_x)\lesssim 1.3\cdot10^{-5}-1.7\cdot10^{-6}$ and ${\rm Br}(Λ_b\toΛ_c+μ^-+ν_x)\lesssim 3.9\cdot10^{-7}-1.4\cdot10^{-7}$.
A short review on charmed and beauty hadron production in the lepton deep inelastic scattering off proton, in proton-proton and proton-antiproton collisions at high energies is presented. It is shown that the existing theoretical and experimental information on charmed and beauty quark distributions in a proton is not satisfactory. A some procedure to study these distributions at LHC energies is suggested.
We present the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the decay constants for both the pseudoscalar and vector beauty-charmed mesons $B_{c}$ and $B^*_{c}$ in nonrelativistic QCD effective theory. Explicit NNLO calculation verified that the $B_c$ decay constant from pseudoscalar current is identical with the $B_c$ decay constant from axial-vector current. The NNLO result for the vector decay constant of $B^*_{c}$ meson is novel. Combined with the latest extraction of nonrelativistic QCD long-distance matrix elements of $B_c$ meson, we give the branching ratios of leptonic decay…
At hadron colliders the dominant production mechanism of $(\bar bc)$ mesons with large transverse momentum is due to parton fragmentation. We compute the rates and transverse momentum spectra for production of S-wave and P-wave $(\bar b c)$ mesons at the Tevatron via the direct fragmentation of the bottom antiquark as well as the Altarelli-Parisi induced gluon fragmentation. Since all the radially and orbitally excited $(\bar b c)$ mesons below the $BD$ flavor threshold will cascade into the pseudoscalar ground state $B_c$ through electromagnetic and/or hadronic transitions, they all contribut…
Production of charmed and beauty mesons and baryons in hadron-nucleon collisions at not very high energy is considered in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model. We take into account the possible corrections to the model which disappear at asymptotically high energies but could be important at comparatively low energies, essentially in the case of heavy flavour production. The case of nuclear targets is also considered and the $A$-dependence of charmed and beauty hadron yields is calculated. Predictions for the case of beauty hadron production at $\sqrt{s}$ = 39 GeV are presented.
At the large transverse momentum region, the production of heavy-heavy bound-states such as charmonium, bottomonium, and $\bar bc$ mesons in high energy $e^+e^-$ and hadronic collisions is dominated by parton fragmentation. We calculate the heavy quark fragmentation functions into the D-wave quarkonium and $\bar bc$ mesons to leading order in the strong coupling constant and in the non-relativistic expansion. In the $\bar b c$ meson case, one set of its D-wave states is expected to lie below the open flavor threshold. The total fragmentation probability for a $\bar b$ antiquark to split into t…
The production of charmed and beauty hadrons in proton-proton and proton-antiproton collisions at high energies is analyzed within the modified quark-gluon string model (QGSM) including the internal motion of quarks in colliding hadrons. It is shown that using both the QGSM and NLO QCD one can describe the experimental data rather successfully in a wide region of transverse momenta. We also present some predictions for the future experiments on the beauty baryon production in $pp$ collisions at LHC energies and on the charmed meson production in ${\bar p}p$ reactions at GSI energies.
Imbalanced beauty-charmed baryons $ Ξ_{bc}^{+,0} $ are of great significance to the development of heavy flavor physics. In this work, we study the inclusive weak-annihilation decays of $Ξ_{bc}^{+,0}$ and their contributions to the $Ξ_{bc}^{+,0}$ lifetimes. For the calculation of the inclusive $Ξ_{bc}^{+,0}\to X_{cs}$ decay width where $X_{cs}$ stands for the sum of the final states with charm number +1 and strange number -1, we work in the heavy diquark effective theory which provides us with a convenient technical tool to construct the operator product expansion. The $Ξ_{bc}^{+,0}$ is consid…
With a distinctive internal structure from all established hadrons, the beauty-charmed baryons $Ξ_{bc}$ can provide us with new points of view to decipher the strong interaction. In this work, we point out that the inclusive $Ξ_{bc} \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}+X$ decay is a golden channel for the experimental discovery of $Ξ_{bc}$ at the LHC. A unique feature of this process is that the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ is displaced, which greatly reduces the combinatorial background. A feasibility analysis is performed on the $Ξ_{bc}^+$ search, which is expected to have a longer lifetime than $Ξ_{bc}^0$ and thus a better di…
The production of charmed and beauty baryons in proton-proton collisions at high energies is analyzed within the modified quark-gluon string model. We present some predictions for the experiments on the forward beauty baryon production in pp collisions at LHC energies. This analysis allows us to find useful information on the Regge trajectories of the heavy (b barb) mesons and the sea beauty quark distributions in the proton.
Charmed and beauty hadrons in matter are discussed within a unitarized coupled-channel model consistent with heavy-quark spin symmetry. We analyse the formation of D-mesic states as well as the propagation of charmed and beauty hadrons in heavy-ion collisions from LHC to FAIR energies.
A number of ways are reviewed in which the study of charmed particles can answer corresponding questions about particles containing $b$ quarks. Topics include the properties of resonances, the magnitude of decay constants, the size of spin-dependent effects, and the hierarchy of lifetime differences.
Large preasymptotic effects in beauty decays have been found using heavy-quark and SU(3) symmetry, as well as experimental data on charmed hyperons. Contrary to rather uniform beauty-meson lifetimes, a much larger spread of beauty-baryon lifetimes is predicted. However, it is highly unlikely that, theoretically, the $ τ(Λ_b)/τ(B_d^0) $ ratio, which at present deviates more than $1σ$ from the experimental result, can be lowered below 0.9.
The production of charmed and beauty hadrons in proton-proton collisions at high energies are analyzed within the modified quark-gluon string model (QGSM) including the internal motion of quarks in colliding hadrons. We present some predictions for the future experiments on the beauty baryon production in $pp$ collisions at LHC energies. This analysis allows us to find interesting information on the Regge trajectories of the heavy (b{\bar b}) mesons and the sea beauty quark distributions in the proton.
We extend Voloshin's recent analysis of charmed and beauty hyperon decays based on SU(3) symmetry and heavy quark effective theory, by introducing a rather moderate model-dependence, in order to obtain more predictive power, e.g. the values of lifetimes of the (Λ_{b},Ξ_{b}) hyperon triplet and the lifetime of Ω_{b}. In this way we obtain an improvement of the ratio τ(Λ_{b})/τ(B_{d}^{0}) \sim 0.9 and the hierarchy of lifetimes τ(Λ_{b}) \simeq τ(Ξ_{b}^{0}) < τ(Ξ_{b}^{-}) < τ(Ω_{b}) with lifetimes of Ξ_{b}^{-} and Ω_{b} exceeding the lifetime of Λ_{b} by 22% and 35%, respectively.
The $B_c ^+$ family of $(c\bar{b})$ mesons with beauty and charm is of special interest among heavy quarkonium systems. The $B_c ^+$ mesons are intermediate between $(c\bar{c})$ and $(b\bar{b})$ states both in mass and size, so many features of the $(c\bar{b})$ spectrum can be inferred from what we know of the charmonium and bottomonium systems. The unequal quark masses mean that the dynamics may be richer than a simple interpolation would imply, in part because the charmed quark moves faster in $B_c$ than in the $J/ψ$. Close examination of the $B_c ^+$ spectrum can test our understanding of t…
We investigate the $σ$ and $ρ$ coupling constants for the $DD$ and $D^*D^*$ interactions, based on correlated $2π$ exchange in the $DD$ and $D^*D^*$ interactions. Starting from the $D\bar{D}\to ππ$ and $D^*\bar{D}^*\to ππ$ amplitudes derived in the pseudophysical region ($4m_π^2\le t \le 52m_π^2$) with the $S$- and $P$-wave $2π$ correlations considered, we obtain the spectral functions for the $DD\to DD$ and $D^*D^*\to D^*D^*$ amplitude with correlated $S$- and $P$-wave $2π$ exchanges. Using the pole approximation, we estimate the $DDσ$, $DDρ$, $D^*D^*σ$, and $D^*D^*ρ$ coupling constants. We e…
We predict the spectrum of the four $1S$ and eight $1P$ nonstrange and strange states in the beauty meson family in the context of effective field theory. By the union of heavy quark effective theory and chiral perturbation theory, the mass formalisms for the heavy-light mesons are defined. Our analysis uses mass expressions involving, for the first time, the full leading self-energy corrections and leading power corrections to the heavy quark and chiral limits. The counterterms present in these expressions are fitted using available experimental and theoretical information on the charmed meso…
The effective theory for heavy quarks has additional symmetries with respect to QCD, which relate charm and beauty hadron masses. Assuming the spectrum of charmed particles, we predicted in a previous work the masses of some beauty particles. The predictions of the Lambda_b mass, M(Lambda_b)=5630 MeV, and of the B_s mass, M(B_s)=5379 MeV, are in agreement with present experimental data. We continue this work using recent experimental data on charm hadron masses. The results are: M(Sigma_b)=5822+-6 MeV, M(Sigma_b*)-M(Sigma_b)=33+-3 MeV, M(Omega_b)=6080+-7 MeV, M(Omega_b*)-M(Omega_b)=32+-3 MeV, …
Model-building issues raised by the prospect of light sterile neutrinos are discussed in a pedagogical way. I first review the na\"ıve proposal that sterile neutrinos be identified with ``right handed neutrinos''. A critical discussion of the simple expedient of adding three gauge singlet fermions to the usual minimal standard model matter content is followed by an examination of right handed neutrinos in extended theories. I introduce the terminology of ``fully sterile'' and ``weakly sterile'' to classify varieties usually conflated under the sterile neutrino banner. After introducing the con…
In view of the projected high number of produced $B$ mesons in Belle II experiment ($\sim 10^{10}$ per year), in addition to the presently ongoing LHC-b, we calculate the rate of decay for the rare decays of $B$ mesons via a sterile on-shell neutrino $N$, which subsequently may decay leptonically or semileptonically within the detector: $B \to (D^{(*)}) \ell_1^{\pm} N$, then $N \to \ell_1^{\pm} \ell_2^{\mp} ν$ or $N \to \ell^{\pm} π^\mp$. Here, $\ell_1 \not= \ell_2$ in order to avoid serious QED background. We account for the possible effects of the strong neutrino lifetime on the observabilit…
All the available experimental information on open charm and beauty mesons is used to classify the observed states in heavy quark doublets. The masses of some of the still unobserved states are predicted, in particular in the beauty sector. Adopting an effective Lagrangian approach based on the heavy quark and chiral symmetry, individual decay rates and ratios of branching fractions are computed, with results useful to assign the quantum numbers to recently observed charmed states which still need to be properly classified. Implications and predictions for the corresponding beauty mesons are p…
Our recently completed analysis of the decay constants of both pseudoscalar and vector beauty mesons reveals that in the bottom-quark sector two specific features of the sum-rule predictions show up: (i) For the input value of the bottom-quark mass in the $\overline{\rm MS}$ scheme $\overline{m}_b(\overline{m}_b)\approx4.18\;\mbox{GeV},$ the sum-rule result $f_B\approx210$-$220\;\mbox{MeV}$ for the $B$ meson decay constant is substantially larger than the recent lattice-QCD finding $f_B\approx190\;\mbox{MeV}.$ Requiring QCD sum rules to reproduce the lattice-QCD value of $f_B$ yields a signifi…
The recent discovery, by the LHCb collaboration, of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ doubly charmed baryon, has renewed interest in the spectroscopy of doubly heavy hadrons. Experimentally, however, searches for such states appear highly challenging. The reconstructed final states tend to involve multiple heavy flavoured (beauty or charm) hadrons, so the yield for any exclusive decay mode will be suppressed to unobservably low levels by the product of several branching fractions, each of which is typically $10^{-3}$--$10^{-2}$. Noting that decays of double beauty hadrons are the only possible source of $B_c^…
The relative magnitude of the decay constants of the pseudoscalar and vector beauty mesons poses (in contrast to the case of charmed mesons) a long-standing puzzle. We revisit this problem within the framework of our recent improvements of the QCD sum-rule formalism for relating observable properties of mesons to quantum chromodynamics and are led to conclude that the decay constants of the beauty vector mesons are undoubtedly smaller than those of their pseudoscalar counterparts.
By assuming the existence of (quasi)-linear Regge trajectories for heavy quarkonia in the low energy region, we derive a new, sixth power, meson mass relation which shows good agreement with experiment for both charmed and beauty mesons. This relation may be reduced to a quadratic Gell-Mann-Okubo type formula by fitting the values of the Regge slopes of these (quasi)-linear trajectories. For charmed mesons, such a formula holds with an accuracy of $\sim 1$%, and is in qualitative agreement with the relation obtained previously by the application of the linear spectrum to a meson hexadecuplet.
We calculate the leading order QCD fragmentation functions for the production of $P$-wave charmed beauty mesons. Long-distance effects are factored into two nonperturbative parameters: the derivative of the radial wavefunction at the origin and a second parameter related to the probability for a $(\bar b c)$ heavy quark pair that is produced in a color-octet $S$-wave state to form a color-singlet $P$-wave bound state. The four $2P$ states and those $3P$ states which lie below the $BD$ flavor threshold eventually all decay into the $1S$ ground state $B_c$ through hadronic cascades or by emittin…
We use recent experimental data on charmed mesons to constrain three coupling constants in the effective lagrangian describing the interactions of excited heavy-light mesons with light pseudoscalar mesons at order $m_Q^{-1}$. Predictions in the beauty sector are also derived.
We give the explicit wave functions of the $qqqq\bar{q}$ components of the C=+1, J=1/2 charmed baryons, $Σ_{c}$, $Λ_{c}$ and $Ξ_{c}^{a}$, and calculate the magnetic moments by adding the 5q components contributions, and we also compute the magnetic moments of the $Σ_{b}$ and $Σ_{b}^{*}$ baryons. The influence of the additional light and strange $q\bar{q}$ pairs is investigated. It's obvious that the constituent quark masses of the charm and beauty quarks are much heavier than that of the light and strange quarks, consequently, the hidden flavor contributions to the baryons magnetic moments may…
I review the QCD sum rules calculations of the form factors governing the semileptonic decays of charmed and beauty mesons. In particular, I discuss the predicted dependence of the various form factors on $q^2$ and how it can be obtained for the form factors of vector and axial currents. In some cases the $q^2$ dependence, computed by QCD sum rules, is different from the outcome of lattice QCD. A Tau-Charm factory could be an efficient tool to study this aspect of the charmed meson transitions.
We investigate the possibility that scalar leptoquarks generate consequential effects on the flavor-changing neutral-current decays of charmed hadrons into final states with missing energy ($\not\!\!E$) carried away by either standard model or sterile neutrinos. We focus on scenarios involving the $R_2$, $\tilde R_2$, and $\bar S_1$ leptoquarks and take into account various pertinent constraints, learning that meson-mixing ones and those inferred from collider searches can be of significance. We find in particular that the branching fractions of charmed meson decays $D\to M\!\not\!\!E$, $M=π,ρ…
The preasymptotic effects originating from the four-quark operators are disentangled from the other contributions by considering appropriate combinations of inclusive decay rates. Under the assumption of the isospin and heavy-quark symmetry, a set of relations connecting charmed and beauty decays is obtained without invoking specific models. The results are compared with other approaches and confronted with experiment.

The amplitudes for one-pion mediated transitions between heavy meson excited states are obtained in the framework of the relativistic chiral quark model. The effective coupling constants to pions and the decay widths of excited heavy mesons with l<=2 for non-radially excited, and the l=0 radially excited mesons are presented for both charmed and beauty mesons. We also discuss the allowed decays of strange excited heavy mesons by emission of a K-meson.
We study the electromagnetic form factors of the doubly charmed baryons, using covariant chiral perturbation theory within the extended on-mass-shell (EOMS) scheme. Vector-meson contributions are also taken into account. We present results for the baryon magnetic moments, charge and magnetic radii. While some of the chiral Lagrangian parameters could be set to values determined in previous works, the available lattice results for $Ξ_{cc}^+$ and $Ω_{cc}^+$ only allow for robust constraints on the low-energy constant (LEC) combination, $c_{89}(=-\frac{1}{3}c_8+4c_9)$. The couplings of the doubly…
We study the dependence on the quark mass of the compositeness of the lowest-lying odd parity hyperon states. Thus, we pay attention to $Λ-$like states in the strange, charm and beauty, sectors which are dynamically generated using a unitarized meson-baryon model. In the strange sector we use an SU(6) extension of the Weinberg-Tomozawa meson-baryon interaction, and we further implement the heavy-quark spin symmetry to construct the meson-baryon interaction when charmed or beauty hadrons are involved. In the three examined flavor sectors, we obtain two $J^P=1/2^-$ and one $J^P=3/2^-$ $Λ$ states…
The model-independent method based on the triangle ideology is implemented to extract the CKM-matrix angle gamma in the decays of doubly heavy baryons containing the charmed and beauty quarks. We analyze a color structure of diagrams and conditions for reconstructing two reference-triangles by tagging the flavor and CP eigenstates of neutral D mesons in the fixed exclusive channels. The characteristic branching ratios are evaluated in the framework of a potential model setting a parametric dependence on the hadronic matrix elements for the decay rates.
To illustrate the campaign to understand heavy quarkonium systems, I focus on a puzzling new state, $X(3872) \to π^+π^- J/ψ$. Studying the influence of open-charm channels on charmonium properties leads us to propose a new charmonium spectroscopy: additional discrete charmonium levels that can be discovered as narrow resonances of charmed and anticharmed mesons. I recall some expectations for a new spectroscopy of mesons with beauty and charm, the $B_c$ ($b\bar{c}$) system. Throughout, I call attention to open issues for theory and experiment.
Recent experiments at Fermilab and CERN have observed a strong asymmetry between the hadroproduction cross sections of leading $D$ mesons, containing projectile valence quarks, and nonleading charmed mesons, without projectile valence quarks. The observed correlations of the $π^{\pm} N \to D^\pm X$ cross section with the projectile charge violates the usual assumption that heavy quark jet fragmentation factorizes. We examine the asymmetry between leading and nonleading charm production as a function of $x_f$ and $p_T^2$ assuming a two-component model combining leading-twist fusion subprocesses…
In the framework of the kt-factorization approach, we study the production of prompt photons associated with heavy (charm and beauty) quarks in hadron-hadron collisions at high energies. Our consideration is based on the amplitude for the production of a single photon associated with a quark pair in the fusion of two off-shell gluons. The total and differential cross sections are presented and the conservative error analysis is performed. Two sets of unintegrated gluon distributions in the proton have been used in numerical calculation: the one obtained from Ciafaloni-Catani-Fiorani-Marchesini…
We employ the flavor SU(3) symmetry to analyze semileptonic decays of anti-triplet charmed baryons ($Λ^{+}_{c},Ξ_{c}^{+,0}$) and find that the experimental data on ${\cal B}(Λ_c\toΛ\ell^+ν_{\ell})$ implies $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-e^+ν_{e})=(4.10\pm0.46)\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-μ^+ν_μ)= (3.98\pm0.57)\%$. When this prediction is confronted with recent experimental results from Belle collaboration $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-e^+ν_e)=1.31(04\pm07\pm38)\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(Ξ_c^0\toΞ^-μ^+ν_μ)=1.27(06\pm10\pm 37)\%$, it is found that the SU(3) symmetry is severely broken. We then consider the gene…
We sketch a recent sum-rule extraction of the decay constants of the heavy pseudoscalar mesons D, D_s, B, and B_s from the two-point correlator of heavy-light pseudoscalar currents [1]. Our main emphasis lies on the control over all the uncertainties in the decay constants, related both to the input QCD parameters and to the limited accuracy of the method of sum rules. Gaining this control has become possible by application of our new procedure of extracting hadron observables based on a dual threshold depending on the Borel parameter. For the charmed-meson decay constants, we find f_D=206.2\p…
We present a study of charmed hadron transverse momentum distribution from p+p collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV using the PYTHIA Monte Carlo event generator. The PHENIX tuned PYTHIA parameter set based on electron measurements alone yields a $D$ meson $p_{T}$ distribution softer than the preliminary STAR experimental data from d+Au collisions scaled by the number of binary collisions. In order to match the STAR $p_{T}$ spectrum, the higher order QCD effects in PYTHIA have to be taken into account, and a fragmentation function of charm quarks much harder than the default Peterson function …
To explain the dark matter and the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, the parameters of the $ν$MSM (an extension of the Minimal Standard Model by three singlet neutrinos with masses smaller than the electroweak scale) must be fine-tuned: one of the masses should be in the ${\cal O} (10)$ keV region to provide a candidate for the dark-matter particle, while two other masses must be almost the same to enhance the CP-violating effects in the sterile neutrino oscillations leading to the baryon asymmetry. We show that a specifically defined global lepton-number symmetry, broken on the level of ${\ca…
We analyze strong decays of excited charmed and beauty mesons into a light vector meson, exploiting the effective field theory based on heavy quark (HQ) symmetries for heavy mesons, and on the hidden gauge symmetry to incorporate light vector mesons. HQ symmetries allow to classify the heavy mesons in spin doublets, and to relate decays of excited states. We build effective Lagrangian terms governing the ${\cal H}_i \to P^{(*)} V$ modes, with ${\cal H}_i$ an excited $s$, $p$, $d$ and $f$-wave heavy-light quark meson, $P,\,P^*$ the lowest-lying $J^P=(0^-,\,1^-)$ heavy-light mesons, and V a ligh…
We present a sum-rule extraction of the decay constants of the D, Ds, B, and Bs mesons from the two-point correlator of heavy-light pseudoscalar currents [1]. Our main emphasis is laid on the control over the uncertainties in the decay constants, related both to the input QCD parameters and to the limited accuracy of the method of sum rules. Gaining this control has become possible due to the application of our novel procedure for extracting hadron observables based on a dual threshold depending on the Borel parameter. For charmed mesons, we obtain f_D=206.2\pm 7.3 (OPE)\pm 5.1 (syst) MeV and …
We revisit the sum-rule extraction of the decay constants of the D, Ds, B, and Bs mesons from the two-point correlator of heavy-light pseudoscalar currents. We use the operator product expansion for this correlator expressed in terms of the MSbar heavy-quark mass, for which the perturbative expansion exhibits a reasonable convergence. Our main emphasis is laid on the control over the uncertainties in the decay constants, related both to the input QCD parameters and to the limited accuracy of the method of sum-rules. This becomes possible due to the application of our procedure of extracting ha…
Using the expansions of the heavy meson decay widths in the heavy quark mass and QCD sum rules for estimates of corresponding matrix elements,\, we calculate the $D^{\pm,o,s}$ decay widths and the $B^{\pm,o,s}$ lifetime differences. The results for D mesons are in agreement with the data,\, while it is predicted that $[Γ(B^o)-Γ(B^-)]/Γ_B\se 4\%\,,$ and the lifetime difference of the $B^o$ and $B_s$ mesons is even smaller. The role of the weak annihilation and Pauli interference contributions to the lifetime differences are described in detail. In the course of self-consistent calculations the …

Using the expansions of the heavy meson decay widths in the heavy quark mass and QCD sum rules for estimates of corresponding matrix elements,\, we calculate the $D^{\pm,o,s}$ and $B^{\pm,o,s}$ meson lifetimes. We present a study of the strong isospin-breaking (IB) effect, due in QCD to the difference between $u$- and $d$-quark masses, in the leptonic decay constants of charmed and beauty pseudoscalar and vector mesons using the method of QCD sum rules. We apply the sum-rule analysis to the decay constants of mesons containing one heavy quark and one light quark with the light mass in the range from the average $u/d$ quark mass to the strange-quark mass. We then analyse the dependence of the decay constants on the light quark mass and extract with good accuracy the IB ratios of decay constants at lea…
We present a sum-rule extraction of heavy-meson decay constants from the two-point correlator of heavy-light pseudoscalar currents. Our main concern is to control the uncertainties of the decay constants, induced by both input QCD parameters and limited accuracy of the sum-rule method. Gaining this control is possible by applying our novel procedure for the extraction of hadron observables utilizing Borel-parameter-depending dual thresholds. For the charmed mesons, we obtain f_D = 206.2 \pm 7.3 (OPE) \pm 5.1 (syst) MeV and f_{D_s} = 245.3 \pm 15.7 (OPE) \pm 4.5 (syst) MeV. For the beauty meson…
