We study the potential of future high energy e+e- colliders to probe excited neutrino signals in different channels coming from the single production process via gauge interactions. We calculate the production cross section, decay widths and branching ratios of excited spin-3/2 neutrinos according to their effective currents and we compare them with that of the spin-1/2 ones. The signals and corresponding backgrounds are examined in detail to get accessible limits on the masses and couplings of excited spin-3/2 neutrinos.

The excited neutrino signal and corresponding backgrounds are studied in detail to obtain accessible mass limits and couplings for these three types of colliders.
Excited quark production at future $γp$ colliders is studied. Namely, $γp \to q^{*}X$ with subsequent $q^{*}\to gq$ and $γq $ decay channels are considered. Signatures for discovery of the excited quark and corresponding standard model backgrounds are discussed in detail. Discovery limits for excited quark masses and achievable values of compositeness parameters $f_s$, $f$ and $f^\prime $ are determined.
In the framework of diquark model for production we discuss the yields and observation prospects for excited states of doubly heavy baryons at LHC kinematic conditions.
We analyze the potential of TESLA and CLIC based electron-photon colliders to search for excited spin-1/2 electrons. The production of excited electrons in the resonance channel through the electron-photon collision and their subsequent decays to leptons and electroweak gauge bosons are investigated. We study in detail the three signal channels of excited electrons and the corresponding backgrounds through the reactions e gamma --> e gamma, e gamma --> eZ and e gamma --> nu W. Excited electrons with masses up to about 90% of the available collider energy can be probed down to the coupling f=f'…

The integrated cross sections of these subproceses are calculated. Special attention is paid to search for excited neutrino in e-gamma --> W- W+ e process. Lower limits for the compositeness parameter estimated which will be available on the experiments at VLEPP, SLAC, JLC and DESY future linear colliders.
We analyzed the potential of the LC with $\sqrt{s}=0.5$ TeV, LC$\times$LHC based ep collider with $\sqrt{s}=3.74$ TeV and LHC with $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV to search for excited electrons through transition magnetic type couplings with gauge bosons. The $e^{\star}\to eγ$ signal and corresponding backgrounds are studied in detail.
It is argued that in the context of TeV gravity with large extra dimensions, excited string states produced in colliders and in the interaction of cosmic rays with the atmosphere may decay preferentially into invisible bulk modes, rather than visible gauge fields on the brane. This contrast to the black hole case comes about because of the absence of a relationship between physical size and temperature for string ball states. We estimate the effect of this upon the number of events predicted at cosmic ray observatories and colliders.
Resonant production of excited $u$ and $d$ quarks at the Future Circular Collider and Super proton-proton Collider have been researched. Dominant jet-jet decay mode has been considered. It is shown that FCC and SppC have great potential for discovery of excited $u$ ($d$) quark: up to 44.1 (36.3) and 58.4 (47.8) TeV masses, respectively. For degenerate case (M$_{u^{\star}}$ = M$_{d^{\star}}$), these values are 45.9 and 60.9 TeV, respectively. This discovery will also afford an opportunity to determine the compositeness scale up to multi-PeV level.
We study the potential of the CERN LHC in the search for the single production of excited neutrino through gauge interactions. Subsequent decays of excited neutrino via gauge interactions are examined. The mass range accessible with the ATLAS detector is obtained.
We analyze the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to search for excited spin-1/2 electrons and neutrinos. Assuming a SU(2)_L X U(1)_Y invariant model, we study in detail the single production of excited electrons and neutrinos and respective backgrounds through the reactions p p -> e+ e- V and e+- νV with V=photon, W, or Z. We show that the LHC will be able to tighten considerably the direct constraints on these possible new states, probing excited lepton masses up to 1-2 TeV depending on their couplings to fermions and gauge bosons.
We study the single production of excited spin-3/2 and spin-1/2 leptons in future high energy $e^+e^-$ collisions. We calculate the production cross section and decay widths of excited spin-3/2 and spin-1/2 leptons according to their effective currents. We show that these possible new excited states can be probed up to the mass $m^*$ ~ $\sqrt{s}$ depending on their couplings to leptons and gauge bosons. We present the angular distributions of final state particles as a measure to discriminate between an excited spin-3/2 and spin-1/2 lepton signal. The signals and the corresponding backgrounds …
The heavy singlet Majorana neutrinos are introduced to generate the neutrino mass in the so-called phenomenological type-I seesaw mechanism. The phenomena induced by the heavy Majorana neutrinos are important to search for new physics. In this paper, we explore the heavy Majorana neutrino production and decay at future $e^{-}p$ colliders. The corresponding cross sections via $W$ and photon fusion are predicted for different collider energies. Combined with the results of the heavy Majorana neutrino production via single $W$ exchange, this work can provide helpful information to search for heav…
We have investigated the production potential of the spin-1/2 excited muons, predicted by the preonic models, at the four SPPC (Super Proton-Proton Collider)-based muon-proton colliders in different center-of-mass energies. For the signal process μp\rightarrowμ^{\star}X\rightarrowμγX, the production cross-section and the decay width values of the excited muons have been calculated. The pseudorapidity and transverse momentum distributions of the final state particles of muons and photons have been obtained to be determine the kinematical cuts best suited for discovery of the excited muons. By a…
Potential discovery, observation and exclusion limits of excited $u$ and $d$ quarks with gamma+jet final state are researched at the multi-TeV scale colliders, FCC and S$pp$C in this work. Both colliders, FCC and S$pp$C, show that excited $u$ and $d$ quarks could be discovered up to 42.1 TeV and 55.2 TeV for $u^\star$, 30.3 TeV and 39.4 TeV for $d^\star$ and 42.3 TeV and 55.5 TeV mass values for degenerate case (m$_{u^\star}$ = m$_{d^\star}$), respectively. Determination of excited quarks compositeness scale is examined, which will be up to multi-PeV level. Beside these analysis, free paramete…
Sterile neutrinos are an attractive extension of the Standard Model of elementary particles towards including a mechanism for generating the observed light neutrino masses. We discuss that when an approximate protective "lepton number"-like symmetry is present, the sterile neutrinos can have masses around the electroweak scale and potentially large neutrino Yukawa couplings, which makes them well testable at planned future particle colliders. We systematically discuss the production and decay channels for sterile neutrinos at electron-proton colliders and give a complete list of the leading or…
We study the excited muon production at the FCC based muon-hadron colliders. We give the excited muon decay widths and production cross section. We deal with the $μp\rightarrowμ^{\star}q\rightarrowμγq$ process and we plot the transverse momentum, rapidity and invariant mass distributions of final state particles to get the discovery cuts. By using discovery cuts, we get the mass limits for excited muons. It is shown that the discovery limits on the mass of $μ^{\star}$ are 2.2 TeV, 5.9 TeV and 7.5 TeV for $\mu63$-FCC, $\mu750$-FCC and $\mu1500$-FCC, respectively.
The beams of Linear Collider after main collision can be utilized to build neutrino factory with exceptional parameters. We also discuss briefly possible applications of some elements of proposed scheme for standard fixed target experiments, new experiments with ν_μN interactions and in material sciences.
We study the potential of the next $ep$ collider, namely LHeC, with two options $\sqrt{s}=1.3$ TeV $\sqrt{s}=1.98$ TeV, to search for excited spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 neutrinos. We calculate the single production cross section of excited spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 neutrinos according to their effective currents describing their interactions between gauge bosons and SM leptons. We choose the $ν^{\star}\rightarrow eW$ decay mode of excited neutrinos and $W\rightarrow jj$ decay mode of $W$-boson for the analysis. We put some kinematical cuts for the final state detectable particles and plot the invariant…
Electron proton (ep) colliders could provide particle collisions at TeV energies with large data rates while maintaining the clean and pile~up-free environment of lepton colliders, which makes them very attractive for heavy neutrino searches. Heavy (mainly sterile) neutrinos with masses around the electroweak scale are proposed in low scale seesaw models for neutrino mass generation. In this paper, we analyse two of the most promising signatures of heavy neutrinos at ep colliders, the lepton-flavour violating (LFV) lepton-trijet signature and the displaced vertex signature. In the considered b…
Large colliders are not sensitive to light neutrino masses and character, but they can produce new heavy neutrinos, allowing also for the determination of their Dirac or Majorana nature. We review the discovery limits at the next generation of large colliders.
We examine two processes, the neutrino production process e^+e^- ---> Nνand the inverse neutrinoless double-beta decay process e^-e^- --->W^-W^- as possible places for discovering heavy neutrinos in future lepton linear colliders. The heavy neutrino parameters are bound from existing experimental data. We use only one important theoretical input, the lack of a Higgs triplet. As a consequence the neutrinos must have different CP parities. In such models the existing experimental bounds for mixing parameters still give a chance that heavy neutrinos can be observed in future e^+e^- and e^-e^- col…
Possible single productions of the fourth standard model generation neutrino via anomalous interactions at the future ep colliders are studied. Signatures of such anomalous processes and backgrounds are discussed in detail. Discovery limits for neutrino mass and achievable values of anomalous coupling strength are determined.
If the origin of neutrino mass is at the TeV energy scale, collider experiments may in fact {\it map out} all the elements of the $3 \times 3$ neutrino mass matrix, up to an overall scale. Two examples \cite{mrs,ma01} are discussed and one is related \cite{mr} to the muon anomalous magnetic moment.
The significant excess recently found by the CDF Collaboration in the inclusive jet cross section for jet transverse energies $E_T \ge 200$ GeV over current QCD predictions can be explained either by possible production of excited bosons (excited gluons, weak bosons, Higgs scalars, etc.) or by that of excited quarks. The masses of the excited boson and the excited quark are estimated to be around 1600 GeV and 500 GeV, respectively.
Sterile neutrinos are among the most attractive extensions of the SM to generate the light neutrino masses observed in neutrino oscillation experiments. When the sterile neutrinos are subject to a protective symmetry, they can have masses around the electroweak scale and potentially large neutrino Yukawa couplings, which makes them testable at planned future particle colliders. We systematically discuss the production and decay channels at electron-positron, proton-proton and electron-proton colliders and provide a complete list of the leading order signatures for sterile neutrino searches. Am…
We analyze the single and pair production of excited neutrinos at the CLIC through the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow ν^{*} \barν$, $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow e^{+}γ^{*} e^{-} \rightarrow e^{+} ν^{*} W^{-}$, and $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow e^{+}γ^{*} γ^{*} e^{-} \rightarrow e^{+} ν^{*} \barν^{*} e^{-}$ ($γ^{*}$ is the Weizsacker-Williams photon). We examine comprehensively the excited neutrino signal and corresponding backgrounds to obtain limits on excited neutrino mass for various values of the integrated luminosity and center-of-mass energy. We show that the obtained bounds are more restricted t…
We study composite electron production at the FCC-based three electron-proton colliders with the center-of-mass energies of $3.46$, $10$ and $31.6$ TeV. For the signal process of $ep\rightarrow e^{\star}X\rightarrow eγX$ , the production cross-sections and decay widhts of the excited electrons have been calculated. The differences of some kinematical quantities of the final state particles between the signal and background have been analyzed. For this purpose, transverse momentum and pseudorapidity distributions of electron and photon have been obtained and the kinematical cuts for discovery o…
R-parity and L violation in the MSSM would be the origin of the neutrino oscillation observed in Super-Kamiokande. A distinctive feature of this framework is that it can be tested in colliders by observing decay products of the destabilized LSP. We examine all the possible decay processes of the neutralino LSP assuming the bilinear contribution to neutrino masses dominates over the trilinear one which gives rise to the solar neutrino mass. We find that it is possible to probe neutrino oscillations through colliders in most of the R-parity conserving MSSM parameter space.
We explore possible signatures for right-handed neutrinos in TeV scale B-L extension of the Standard Model (SM) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The studied four lepton signal has a tiny SM background. We find the signal experimentally accessible at LHC for the considered parameter regions.
Heavy neutrino-antineutrino oscillations can naturally appear in mechanisms of low scale neutrino mass generation, where pairs of heavy neutrinos have almost degenerate masses. We discuss the case where the heavy neutrinos are sufficiently long-lived to decay displaced from the primary vertex, such that the oscillations of the heavy neutrinos into antineutrinos can potentially be observed at the (high-luminosity) LHC and at currently planned future collider experiments. The observation of these oscillations would have far-reaching consequences: it would, for instance, prove the existence of le…
We consider a neutrinophilic Higgs scenario where the Standard Model is extended by one additional Higgs doublet and three generations of singlet right-handed Majorana neutrinos. Light neutrino masses are generated through mixing with the heavy neutrinos via Type-I seesaw mechanism when the neutrinophilic Higgs gets a vacuum expectation value (VEV). The Dirac neutrino Yukawa coupling in this scenario can be sizable compared to those in the canonical Type-I seesaw mechanism owing to the small neutrinophilic Higgs VEV giving rise to interesting phenomenological consequences. We have explored var…
We study the pair production of fourth generation neutrinos from the decay of an on-shell Higgs produced by gluon fusion. In a fourth generation scenario, the Higgs branching fraction into fourth generation neutrinos may be quite large. In the case that the unstable heavy neutrinos are a mixed Majorana and Dirac state, neutrinos pair-produced from Higgs decay will yield a substantial number of like-sign dilepton events. In this article we use inclusive like-sign dilepton searches from hadron colliders to constrain the theoretical parameter space of fourth generation leptons.
Neutrinos in the Standard Model (SM) are considered to be massless which is in contradiction with the evidence from the neutrino oscillation data. These experiments established that at least two SM neutrinos have non-zero masses and that individual lepton numbers are violated. This is strong evidence of new physics beyond the SM that should be responsible for generating non zero mass for the neutrinos. In this work, we study the collider phenomenology of an extension of the SM where neutrinos are generated radiatively at three-loop. We show that the production of same-sign dilepton at lepton c…
The existence of Majorana neutrinos must lead to lepton-number violating processes, and the Majorana nature of neutrinos can only be experimentally verified via lepton-number violating processes. We propose a new approach to search for Majorana neutrinos at future electron-positron colliders by exploiting this feature. We investigate the $ΔL = 2$ like-sign dilepton production and find that lepton colliders with different center-of-mass energies have comparative advantages in resonant production of a Majorana neutrino in either light neutrino mass range or heavy mass range. At the future Circul…
We discuss the scenario with gauge singlet fermions (right-handed neutrinos) accessible at the energy of the Large Hadron Collider. The singlet fermions generate tiny neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism and also have sizable couplings to the standard-model particles. We demonstrate that these two facts, which are naively not satisfied simultaneously, are reconciled in the five-dimensional framework in various fashions, which make the seesaw mechanism observable. The collider signal of tri-lepton final states with transverse missing energy is investigated for two explicit examples of the o…
In recent years, with the enlightenment of some issues encountered at muon colliders, muon colliders have become more feasible for the high-energy physics community. For this reason, we studied single production of excited muon at muon colliders via contact interaction. Besides, we assumed that the excited muon is produced via contact interactions and decays to the photon and the muon through the gauge interaction. Then, signal and background analyses were performed at the muon anti-muon collider options with 6 TeV, 14 TeV, and 100 TeV center-of-mass energies for the excited muon. Attainable m…
We investigate the production of fourth generation neutrino in the context of new $e ν_4 W$ magnetic dipole moment type interaction in $ep$ collisions at the future lepton-hadron colliders. We have obtained the mass limits of 700 GeV for THERA ($\sqrt S$=1 TeV) and 2.8 TeV for LC$\otimes$ LHC ($\sqrt S$=3.74 TeV).
We study the possibilities to detect Majorana neutrinos in $γγ$ colliders for different center of mass energies. We study the $W^\pm W^\pm l_j^{\mp} l_k^{\mp}$ ($l_j\equiv e ,μ,τ$) final states which are, due to leptonic number violation, a clear signature for intermediate Majorana neutrino contribution. Such a signal (final dileptons of the same sign) is not possible if the heavy neutrinos are Dirac particles. We present our results for the total cross-section as a function of the neutrino mass and the center of mass energies.
The production of heavy and light neutrinos in $e^+e^-$ future colliders is considered. The cross section for the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow νN$ and then the heavy neutrino decay $N \rightarrow W^{\pm} e^{\mp}$ is determined for experimentally possible values of mixing matrix elements. The bound on the heavy neutrino-electron mixing is estimated in models without right-handed currents. The role of neutrino CP eigenvalues and the mass of the lightest Higgs particle are investigated. The angular distribution of charged leptons in the total CM frame resulting from the heavy neutrino decay and fr…
If the observed light neutrino masses are induced by their Yukawa couplings to singlet right-handed neutrinos, natural smallness of those renders direct collider tests of the electroweak scale neutrino mass mechanisms almost impossible both in the case of Dirac and Majorana (seesaw of type I) neutrinos. However, in the triplet Higgs seesaw scenario the smallness of light neutrino masses may come from the smallness of B-L breaking parameters, allowing sizable Yukawa couplings even for a TeV scale triplet. We show that, in this scenario, measuring the branching fractions of doubly charged Higgs …
We examine lepton flavor violating (LFV) interactions for heavy right-handed neutrinos that exist in most of the standard model extensions that address dark matter (DM) and neutrino mass at the loop level. In order to probe the collider effect of these LFV interactions, we impose the assumption that the model parameters give the right values of the DM relic density and fulfill the constraints from the LFV processes $\ell_α\rightarrow\ell_βγ$ and $\ell_α\rightarrow3\ell_β$. We also investigate the possibility of probing these interactions, and hence the right-handed neutrino, at leptonic collid…
We study a simple left-right symmetric (LRS) extension of the Zee model for neutrino mass generation. An extra $SU(2)_{L/R}$ singlet charged scalar helps in generating a loop-induced Majorana mass for neutrinos in this model. The right-handed neutrinos in this case are very light of the order of a few eV to a few MeV which makes this scenario quite different from other LRS models. We have analyzed the scalar potential and Higgs spectrum in detail, which also play an important role for the neutrino phenomenology. We identified the parameter regions in the model which satisfy the experimentally …
We extend the minimal supersymmetric standard model with bilinear R-parity violation to include a pair of Higgs triplet superfields. The neutral components of the Higgs triplets develop small vacuum expectation values (VEVs) quadratic in the bilinear R-parity breaking parameters. In this scheme the atmospheric neutrino mass scale arises from bilinear R-parity breaking while for reasonable values of parameters the solar neutrino mass scale is generated from the small Higgs triplet VEVs. We calculate neutrino masses and mixing angles in this model and show how the model can be tested at future c…
We discuss the prospects of studying lepton number violating processes in order to identify Majorana neutrinos from low scale seesaw mechanisms at lepton-proton colliders. In particular, we consider the scenarios of colliding electrons with LHC energy protons and, motivated by the efforts towards the construction of a muon collider, the prospects of muon-proton collisions. We find that present constraints on the mixing of the Majorana neutrinos still allow for a detectable signal at these kind of facilities given the smallness of the Standard Model background. We discuss possible cuts in order…
We study the single production of heavy neutrinos via the processes $e^-e^+ \to νN$ and $e^-γ\to W^- N$ at future linear colliders. As a base of our considerations we take a wide class of models, both with vanishing and non-vanishing left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix $m_L$. We perform a model independent analyses of the existing experimental data and find connections between the characteristic of heavy neutrinos (masses, mixings, CP eigenvalues) and the $m_L$ parameters. We show that with the present experimental constraints heavy neutrino masses almost up to the collision energy can b…
The lightest supersymmetric particle may decay with branching ratios that correlate with neutrino oscillation parameters. In this case the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has the potential to probe the atmospheric neutrino mixing angle with sensitivity competitive to its low-energy determination by underground experiments. Under realistic detection assumptions, we identify the necessary conditions for the experiments at CERN's LHC to probe the simplest scenario for neutrino masses induced by minimal supergravity with bilinear R parity violation.
In scenarios with sterile (right-handed) neutrinos that are subject to an approximate "lepton-number-like" symmetry, the heavy neutrinos (i.e. the mass eigenstates) can have masses around the electroweak scale and couple to the Higgs boson with, in principle, unsuppressed Yukawa couplings while accounting for the smallness of the light neutrinos' masses. In these scenarios, the on-shell production of heavy neutrinos and their subsequent decays into a light neutrino and a Higgs boson constitutes a hitherto unstudied resonant contribution to the Higgs production mechanism. We investigate the rel…
We investigate the sensitivity of future lepton colliders to displaced vertices from the decays of long-lived heavy (almost sterile) neutrinos with electroweak scale masses and detectable time of flight. As future lepton colliders we consider the FCC-ee, the CEPC, and the ILC, searching at the Z-pole and at the center-of-mass energies of 240, 350 and 500 GeV. For a realistic discussion of the detector response to the displaced vertex signal and the Standard Model background we consider the ILC's Silicon Detector (SiD) as benchmark for the future lepton collider detectors. We find that displace…
Extending the Standard Model (SM) with sterile ('right-handed') neutrinos is one of the best motivated ways to account for the observed neutrino masses. We discuss the expected sensitivity of future lepton collider experiments for probing such extensions. An interesting testable scenario is given by 'symmetry protected seesaw models', which theoretically allow for sterile neutrino masses around the electroweak scale with up to order one mixings with the light (SM) neutrinos. In addition to indirect tests, e.g. via electroweak precision observables, sterile neutrinos with masses around the elec…
Conceptual design studies are underway for muon colliders and other high-current muon storage rings that have the potential to become the first true ``neutrino factories''. Muon decays in long straight sections of the storage rings would produce precisely characterized beams of electron and muon type neutrinos of unprecedented intensity. This article reviews the prospects for these facilities to greatly extend our capabilities for neutrino experiments, largely emphasizing the physics of neutrino interactions.
The dilepton final states, e+e- and mu+mu-, are the most clear channels for new heavy neutral resonances search. Their advantage is that the main irreducible background from the Standard Model Drell-Yan process contributes usually two orders of magnitude lower than the expected signal under the peak region. In this paper we are focused on the search of the excited neutral bosons Z*. At present only the ATLAS Collaboration is looking for such excitations at LHC. We compare our evaluations with the official collaboration results at 7 TeV, and present our estimations at higher centre-of-mass ener…
The solar and atmospheric neutrino anomalies constitute the only solid and most remarkable evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model, indicating that the lepton mixing matrix is fundamentally distinct from that describing the quarks. Here I will report on how supersymmetry with spontaneously or bilinearly broken R Parity provides a predictive theory for neutrino mass and mixing which leads to a solution of neutrino anomalies which can be clearly tested at high energy accelerators.
The nonzero neutrino mass can be a signal for new physics beyond the standard model. To explain the tiny neutrino mass, we can extend the standard model with right-handed Majorana neutrinos in a low-scale seesaw mechanism, while the CP violation effect can be induced due to the CP phase in the interference of heavy Majorana neutrinos. The existence of heavy Majorana neutrinos may lead to lepton number violation processes, which can be used as a probe to search for the signal of heavy Majorana neutrinos. In this paper, we focus on the CP violation effect related to two generations of heavy Majo…
