The relativistic diffusion process of heavy quarks is formulated on the basis of the relativistic Langevin equation in Itô discretization scheme. The drag force inside the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) is parametrized according to the formula for the strongly coupled plasma obtained by the AdS/CFT correspondence. The diffusion dynamics of charm and bottom quarks in QGP is described by combining the Langevin simulation under the background matter described by the relativistic hydrodynamics. Theoretical calculations of the nuclear modification factor R_{AA} and the elliptic flow v_{2} for the single electrons from the charm and bottom decays are compared with the experimental data from the relativistic heavy ion collisions. The R_{AA} for electrons with large transverse momentum (p_{T} > 3 GeV) indicates that the drag force from the QGP is as strong as the AdS/CFT prediction.
The chromo-electromagnetic field is produced due to the motion of partons in a quark-gluon plasma created by relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The fluctuations in the produced chromo-electromagnetic field are important, since they cause heavy quarks to gain energy in the low velocity limit. We study the effect of such fluctuations on heavy quark diffusion in quark-gluon plasma within the framework of Langevin dynamics under the background matter described by the ($3+1$)-dimensional relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. Theoretical calculations of the nuclear modification factor ($R_{AA}$) of he…
The pressure and energy density of the quark-gluon plasma at finite baryon chemical potential are calculated using the Complex Langevin equation. The stout smearing procedure is generalized for the SL(3,$\mathcal{C}$) manifold allowing the usage of an improved action in the Complex Langevin setup. Four degenerate flavors of staggered quarks with $m_π=500-700$ MeV are used with a tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action on $16^3 \times 8 $ lattices. Results are compared to the Taylor expansion and good agreement is found for small chemical potentials.
We study the stochastic dynamics of c and b quarks, produced in hard initial processes, in the hot medium created after the collision of two relativistic heavy ions. This is done through the numerical solution of the relativistic Langevin equation. The latter requires the knowledge of the friction and diffusion coefficients, whose microscopic evaluation is performed treating separately the contribution of soft and hard collisions. The evolution of the background medium is described by ideal/viscous hydrodynamics. Below the critical temperature the heavy quarks are converted into hadrons, whose…
Quark Gluon Plasma transport coefficients for heavy quarks and quark-antiquark pairs are computed through an extension of the results obtained for a hot QED plasma by describing the heavy-quark propagation in the eikonal approximation and by weighting the gauge field configurations with the Hard Thermal Loop effective action. It is shown that such a model allows to correctly reproduce, at leading logarithmic accuracy, the results obtained by other independent approaches. The results are then inserted into a relativistic Langevin equation allowing to follow the evolution of the heavy-quark mome…
The heavy quark propagation behavior inside the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), is usually described in terms of the Boltzmann dynamics, which can be reduced to the Langevin approach by assuming a small momentum transfer for the scattering processes between heavy quarks and the QGP constituents. In this work, the temperature and energy dependence of the transport coefficients are calculated in the framework of both Boltzmann and Langevin dynamics. The derived transport coefficients are found to be systematically larger in the Boltzmann approach as compared with the Langevin, in particular in the hig…
We study the consequences of different realizations of diffusion processes in relativistic Langevin simulations. We elaborate on the Ito-Stratonovich dilemma by showing how microscopically calculated transport coefficients as obtained from a Boltzmann/Fokker-Planck equation can be implemented to lead to an unambiguous realization of the Langevin process. Pertinent examples within the pre-point (Ito) and post-point (Hänggi-Klimontovich) Langevin prescriptions are worked out explicitly. Deviations from this implementation are shown to generate variants of the Boltzmann distribution as the statio…
We study the heavy quark evolution in a quark-gluon plasma medium within the framework of Langevin equation coupled to a (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic model. We modify the current Langevin algorithm such that apart from quasi-elastic scattering, medium-induced radiative energy loss is incorporated as well by treating gluon radiation as an extra force term. We find a significant effect of gluon radiation on heavy quark energy loss at LHC energies. Our calculation provides a good description of the D meson suppression measured by ALICE experiment, and makes a prediction for B meson supp…
Stochastic quantization can potentially be used to simulate theories with a complex action due to a nonzero chemical potential. We study complex Langevin dynamics in the relativistic Bose gas analytically, using a mean field approximation. We concentrate on the region with a Silver Blaze problem and discuss convergence, stability, fixed points, and the severeness of the sign problem. The real distribution satisfying the extended Fokker-Planck equation is constructed and its nonlocal form is explained. Finally, we compare the mean field results in finite volume with the numerical data presented…
We investigate the consequences of space-momentum correlations in quark phase-space distributions for coalescence processes at the hadronization transition. Thus far it has been proved difficult to reconcile such correlations with the empirically observed constituent quark number scaling (CQNS) at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). To address this problem we combine our earlier developed quark recombination model with quark phase-space distributions computed from relativistic Langevin simulations in an expanding Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). Hadronization is based on resonance formation w…
A transport model is developed to describe hadron emission from a strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma formed in relativistic heavy ion collisions. The quark-gluon plasma is controlled by ideal hydrodynamics, and the hadron motion is characterized by a transport equation with loss and gain terms. The two sets of equations are coupled to each other, and the hadronization hypersurface is determined by both the hydrodynamic evolution and the hadron emission. The model is applied to calculate the transverse momentum distributions of mesons and baryons, and most of the results agree well with the ex…
We study the evolution of the quark-gluon composition of the plasma created in ultra-Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions (uRHIC's) employing a partonic transport theory that includes both elastic and inelastic collisions plus a mean fields dynamics associated to the widely used quasi-particle model. The latter, able to describe lattice QCD thermodynamics, implies a "chemical" equilibrium ratio between quarks and gluons strongly increasing as $T\rightarrow T_c$, the phase transition temperature. Accordingly we see in realistic simulations of uRHIC's a rapid evolution from a gluon dominated initia…
Elastic scattering of charm (c) and bottom (b) quarks via D- and B-meson resonance states in an expanding, strongly interacting quark-gluon plasma is investigated. Drag and diffusion coefficients are calculated from an effective model based on chiral symmetry and heavy-quark effective theory, and utilized in a relativistic Langevin simulation to obtain transverse-momentum spectra and elliptic flow (v_2) of c- and b-quarks. The hadronization to D- and B-mesons is described by coalescence and fragmentation, and the resulting decay-electron spectra are compared to recent RHIC data.
Using the color evaporation model, the cross section for charmonium production in p+p collision is calculated in quark-gluon plasma. The threshold energy for open charms is given by the free energy potential from lattice calculations, the initial charm quark pairs by the Pythia simulations, and their time evolution by solving the Langevin equation. It is found that the threshold energy which decreases with temperature reduces the cross section while the invariant mass of charm pair which decreases by collisions enhances it. As a result, charmonia production is suppressed by $30$\sim$50\%$ whil…
We study the rotational collective motion of the quark-gluon plasma in relativistic heavy ion collisions using the widely-adopted AMPT (A Multi-Phase Transport) model. The global angular momentum, the average vorticity carried by the quark-gluon plasma, and the locally defined vorticity fields are computed for Au+Au collisions, with detailed information of their time evolution, spatial distribution, as well as the dependence on beam energy and collision centrality.
A Langevin equation of heavy quarks in high-temperature quark-gluon plasma is derived. The dynamics of heavy quark color is coupled with the phase space dynamics and causes a macroscopic superposition state of heavy quark momentum. Decoherence of the superposition state allows one to use a classical description. The time scale of decoherence gives an appropriate discretization time scale $Δt\sim \sqrt{M/C_{\rm F}γ}$ for the classical Langevin equation, where $M$ is heavy quark mass and $γ$ is heavy quark momentum diffusion constant.
We quantitatively estimate properties of the quark-gluon plasma created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions utilizing Bayesian statistics and a multi-parameter model-to-data comparison. The study is performed using a recently developed parametric initial condition model, TRENTO, which interpolates among a general class of particle production schemes, and a modern hybrid model which couples viscous hydrodynamics to a hadronic cascade. We calibrate the model to multiplicity, transverse momentum, and flow data and report constraints on the parametrized initial conditions and the temperatur…
We describe the dynamics of gluons and quarks in a relativistic nuclear collision, within the framework of classical mean-field transport theory, by the coupled equations for the classical Yang-Mills field and a collection of colored point particles. The particles represent the valence quarks in the colliding nuclei. We explore the time evolution of the gauge field in a numerical simulation of the collision of two Lorentz-boosted ``nuclei'' on a long three-dimensional gauge lattice. We report first results on soft gluon scattering and coherent gluon radiation.
As a new and clean probe to the strongly interacting quark-gluon plasma (sQGP), we propose an azimuthal correlation of an electron and a muon which originate from the semileptonic decay of charm and bottom quarks. By solving the Langevin equation for the heavy quarks under the hydrodynamic evolution of the hot plasma, we show that substantial quenching of the away-side peak in the electron-muon correlation can be seen if the sQGP drag force acting on heavy quarks is large enough as suggested from the gauge/gravity correspondence. The effect could be detected in high-energy heavy-ion collisions…

We solve the relativistic Riemann problem in viscous gluon matter employing a microscopic parton cascade. We demonstrate the transition from ideal to viscous shock waves by varying the shear viscosity to entropy density ratio $η/s$ from zero to infinity. We show that an $η/s$ ratio larger than 0.2 prevents the development of well-defined shock waves on timescales typical for ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. Comparisons with viscous hydrodynamic calculations confirm our findings.
We recently derived, using diagrammatic methods, the leading-order hard photon emission rate in ultra-relativistic plasmas. This requires a correct treatment of multiple scattering effects which limit the coherence length of emitted radiation (the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effect). In this paper, we provide a more physical derivation of this result, and extend the treatment to the case of gluon radiation.
We investigate the relativistic equation of state of hadronic matter and quark-gluon plasma at finite temperature and baryon density in the framework of the non-extensive statistical mechanics, characterized by power-law quantum distributions. We impose the Gibbs conditions on the global conservation of baryon number, electric charge and strangeness number. For the hadronic phase, we study an extended relativistic mean-field theoretical model with the inclusion of strange particles (hyperons and mesons). For the quark sector, we employ an extended MIT-Bag model. In this context we focus on the…
In this article we report on our results about quark production and chemical equilibration of quark-gluon plasma. Our initial condition corresponds to a classic Yang-Mills spectrum, in which only gluon degrees of freedom are considered; the initial condition is then evolved to a quark-gluon plasma by means of relativistic transport theory with inelastic processes which permit the conversion of gluons to $q\bar{q}$ pairs. We then compare our results to the ones obtained with a standard Glauber model initialization. We find that regardless of the initial condition the final stage of the system c…
We consider the Brownian motion of a $c \bar c$ pair produced in the very early satge of a quark-gluon plasma. The one-dimensional Langevin equation is solved formally to get purely mechanical properties at small and large times. Stochastically-averaged variances are examined to extract the time scales associated with swelling and ionization of the bound state. Simple numerical estimates of the time scales are compared with other mechanisms of $J/ψ$ suppression.
We study the dynamics of energy loss and flow of heavy quarks produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions within the framework of a Langevin equation coupled to a (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic model that simulates the space-time evolution of the produced hot and dense QCD matter. The classical Langevin approach is improved such that, apart from quasi-elastic scatterings, radiative energy loss is incorporated by treating gluon radiation as an additional force term. The hadronization of emitted heavy quarks is simulated via a hybrid fragmentation plus recombination model. Our ca…
We evaluate heavy-quark (HQ) transport properties in a Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) employing interaction potentials extracted from thermal lattice QCD. Within a Brueckner many-body scheme we calculate in-medium T-matrices for charm- and bottom-quark scattering off light quarks in the QGP. The interactions are dominated by attractive meson and diquark channels which support bound and resonance states up to temperatures of ~1.5 T_c. We apply pertinent drag and diffusion coefficients (supplemented by perturbative scattering off gluons) in Langevin simulations in an expanding fireball to compute HQ s…
A rigorous three-dimensional relativistic equation satisfied by two-gluon bound states is derived from the QCD with massive gluons. With the gluon fields and the quark fields being expanded in terms of the gluon multipole fields and the spherical Dirac spinors respectively, the equation is well established in the angular momentum representation and hence is much convenient for solving the problem of two-gluon glueball spectra. In particular, the interaction kernel in the equation is exactly derived and given a closed expression which includes all the interactions taking place in the two-gluon …
I review the status of the search for quark-gluon plasma in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The available data provide strong evidence for the "three pillars of the Little Bang model": strong radial expansion of the collision fireball with Hubble-like scaling, thermal hadron emission and primordial hadrosynthesis. It is argued that the initial state of the reaction zone exhibits features which cannot be understood with conventional hadronic dynamics, but are consistent with the formation of deconfined quark-gluon matter.
The azimuthal anisotropies of the collective transverse flow of hadrons are investigated in a large range of heavy-ion collision energy within the Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) microscopic transport approach which incorporates explicit partonic degrees of freedom in terms of strongly interacting quasiparticles (quarks and gluons) in line with an equation-of-state from lattice QCD as well as dynamical hadronization and hadronic dynamics in the final reaction phase. The experimentally observed increase of the elliptic flow $v_2$ with bombarding energy is successfully described in terms of…
We compute the production of thermal photons in relativistic heavy-ion collisions by gluon fusion in the presence of an intense magnetic field, and during the early stages of the reaction. This photon yield is an excess over calculations that do not consider magnetic field effects. We add this excess to recent hydrodynamic calculations that are close to describing the experimental transverse momentum distribution in RHIC and LHC. We then show that with reasonable values for the temperature, magnetic field strength, and strong coupling constant, our results provide a very good description of su…
We study the production of photons from a quark gluon plasma in local thermal equilibrium by introducing a non-perturbative formulation of the real time evolution of the density matrix. The main ingredient is the real time effective action for the electromagnetic field to $\mathcal{O}(α_{em})$ and to all orders in $α_s$. The real time evolution is completely determined by the solution of a \emph{classical stochastic} non-local Langevin equation which provides a Dyson-like resummation of the perturbative expansion. The Langevin equation is solved in closed form by Laplace transform in terms of …
We generalized our approach to the hypernuclei with $A=B=3$ containing one charm or one bottom quark. We derive the relativistic nine-quark equations using the dispersion relation technique. The hypernuclei as the system of interacting quarks and gluons are considered. The relativistic nine-quark amplitudes of hypernuclei, including the constituent quarks with the charm or bottom are calculated. The approximate solutions of these equations are obtained using a method based on the extraction of leading singularities of the amplitudes. The poles of the multiquark amplitudes allow us to determine…
We present a simple gluon production picture which is based on the McLerran-Venugopalan model and gluon BFKL evolution in relativistic heavy ion collision. Results for the multiplicity and transverse energy distribution in both the central and forward rapidity regions for gluon production in early stages of heavy ion collisions at the LHC are given. Finally, we provide a general qualitative discussion of the consequences of the forward rapidity behavior of produced gluons.
It is argued that in heavy ion collisions at LHC there could be a sizeable production of baryons containing two or three heavy quarks from statistical coalescence. This production mechanism is peculiar of Quark Gluon Plasma and the predicted rates, in heavy ion collisions at LHC energy, exceed those from a purely hadronic scenario, particularly for Xi_bc and Omega_ccc. Thus, besides the interest in the discovery of these new states, enhanced ratios of these baryons over singly heavy flavoured hadrons, like B or D, in heavy ion collisions with respect to pp at the same energy, would be a clear …
We numerically solve the (3+1)-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamical equation with a bag-model equation of state, which is one of the simplest models for the first order phase transition. Based on the numerical solution, we discuss the space-time evolution of the hot fluid produced in ultra relativistic nuclear collisions. Especially, the space-time structure of the two-phase co-existing region during the quark-gluon plasma-hadron phase transition is analyzed in detail. Finally, we investigate the change of the mass spectra of $J/ψ$, $η_{c}$ and $ϕ$ as possible experimental signatures of the…
Low-lying hypernuclei $ ^3_ΛH$, $ ^3_ΣH$, $ ^3_ΛHe$, $ ^3_ΣHe$ are described by the relativistic nine-quark equations in the framework of the dispersion relation technique. The approximate solutions of these equations using the method based on the extraction of leading singularities of the amplitudes are obtained. The relativistic nine-quark amplitudes of hypernuclei, including the quarks of three flavors ($u$, $d$, $s$) are calculated. The poles of these amplitudes determine the masses of hypernuclei. The mass of state $ ^3_ΛH$ with the isospin I=0 and the spin-parity $J^P=\frac{1}{2}^+$ is e…
We discuss the characteristics of collective modes induced by relativistic jets in an anisotropic quark-gluon plasma(AQGP). Assuming a tsunami-like initial jet distribution, it is found that the dispersion relations for both the stable and unstable modes are modified substantially due to the passage of jet compared to the case when there is no jet. It has also been shown that the growth rate of instability first increases compared to the no jet case and then completely turned into damping except the case when the jet velocity is perpendicular to the wave vector in which case the instability al…
A snapshot of the results for heavy-flavour observables in heavy-ion (AA) collisions at RHIC and LHC obtained with our transport calculations is displayed. The initial charm and beauty production is simulated through pQCD tools (POWHEG+PYTHIA) and is validated through the comparison with data from pp collisions. The propagation of c and b quarks in the medium formed in heavy-ion collisions is studied through a transport setup based on the relativistic Langevin equation. With respect to past works we perform a more systematic study, providing results with different choices of transport coeffici…
We investigate the compression of nuclear matter in relativistic hydrodynamics. Nuclear matter is described by a $σ-ω$--type model for the hadron matter phase and by the MIT bag model for the quark--gluon plasma, with a first order phase transition between both phases. In the presence of phase transitions, hydrodynamical solutions change qualitatively, for instance, one-dimensional stationary compression is no longer accomplished by a single shock but via a sequence of shock and compressional simple waves. We construct the analytical solution to the ``slab-on-slab'' collision problem over a ra…
The drag and diffusion coefficients are studied within the framework of Fokker-Planck dynamics for the case of a charm quark propagating in an expanding quark-gluon plasma. The space-time evolution of the nuclear matter created in the relativistic heavy-ion collision is modelled using MUSIC, a 3+1 D relativistic viscous hydrodynamic approach. The effect of viscous corrections to the heavy quark transport coefficients is explored by considering scattering processes with thermal quarks and gluons in the medium. It is observed that the momentum diffusion of the heavy quarks is sensitive to the sh…
We study the process $qq\rightarrow qqg$ at lowest order in QCD perturbation theory to understand gluon radiation in the fragmentation region of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We arrive at a formula for gluon multiplicity that interpolates between $\sim 1/k_{\bot}^2$ behavior at low $k_{\bot}$, to $\sim 1/k_{\bot}^4$ at large $k_{\bot}$.
We have developed a numerical framework for a full solution of the relativistic Boltzmann equations for the quark-gluon matter using the multiple Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) on distributed clusters. Including all the $2 \to 2$ scattering processes of 3-flavor quarks and gluons, we compute the time evolution of distribution functions in both coordinate and momentum spaces for the cases of pure gluons, quarks and the mixture of quarks and gluons. By introducing a symmetrical sampling method on GPUs which ensures the particle number conservation, our framework is able to perform the space-ti…
The dynamics of Quark-gluon plasma (QGP) as a lump of deconfined free quarks and gluons is elaborated. Based on the first principal we construct the Lagrangian that represents the dynamics of QGP. To induce a hydrodynamics approach, we substitute the gluon fields with flow fields. As a result, the derived equation of Motion (E.O.M) for gluon dominated QGP shows the form that similar to Euler equation, and the energy momentum tensor also represents explicitly the system of ideal fluid. Combining the E.O.M and energy momentum tensor, the pressure and energy density distribution as the equation o…
We attempt to understand the low-mass dielectron enhancement observed by PHENIX Collaboration at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) by transport peak in the spectral function. On the basis of the second-order formalism of relativistic dissipative hydrodynamics, we parameterize the spectral function in low-frequency and long-wavelength region by two transport coefficients, electric diffusion coefficient $D$ and relaxation time $τ_{\rm J}$, and compared our theoretical dielectron spectra with the experimental data. We study spectrum of dielectrons produced in relativistic heavy ion collision…
The lower excitation spectrum of the nucleon and $Δ$ is calculated in a relativistic chiral quark model. Corrections to the baryon mass spectrum from the second order self-energy and exchange diagrams induced by pion and gluon fields are estimated in the field -theoretical framework. Convergent results for the self-energy terms are obtained when including the intermediate quark and antiquark states with a total momentum up to $j=25/2$. Relativistic one-meson and color-magnetic one-gluon exchange forces are shown to generate spin 0, 1, 2, etc. operators, which couple the lower and the upper com…
We discuss application of formalism of small-$x$ effective action for reggeized gluons, \cite{Gribov,LipatovEff,BFKL}, for the calculation of classical gluon field of relativistic color charge, similarly to that done in CGC approach of \cite{Venug,Kovner}. The equations of motion with the reggeon fields are solved in LO and NLO approximations and new solutions are found. The results are compared to the calculations performed in the CGC framework and it is demonstrated that the LO CGC results for the classical field are reproduced in our calculations. Possible applications of the NLO solution i…
A sizable contribution to heavy quark production in high-energy hadronic and nuclear collisions comes from heavy quark-antiquark pair production from gluon splitting during the parton shower evolution. We investigate the effect of gluon-medium interaction on open heavy flavor spectra in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The interaction of hard gluons and heavy quarks with the hot QCD medium is simulated by utilizing a Langevin transport model that simultaneously incorporates contributions from collisional and radiative processes. It is found that while the gluon splitting channel has qu…
We present an overview of theoretical aspects of the phenomenon of gluon saturation in high energy scattering in Quantum Chromo Dynamics. Then we review the state-of-the-art of saturation-based phenomenological approaches to the study and characterisation of the initial state of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions performed at RHIC and the LHC. Our review focuses mostly in the Color Glass Condensate effective theory, although we shall also discuss other approaches in parallel.
I derive expressions for various correlators of the gauge field and find propagators in a new gauge A^τ=0. This gauge is a part of the wedge form of relativistic dynamics suggested earlier as the tool for the study of quantum dynamics in collisions of hadrons at extremely high energies and in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. The new gauge puts the quark and gluon fields of the colliding hadrons in one Hilbert space and thus allows one to avoid factorization.
Hypernuclei $ ^4_Y He$, $ ^4_Y H$, $ ^4_{YY} He$, $ ^4_{YY} H$, where $Y=Λ$, $Σ_0$, $Σ_+$, $Σ_-$, A=4 are considered using the relativistic twelve-quark equations in the framework of the dispersion relation technique. Hypernuclei as the systems of interacting quarks and gluons are considered. The relativistic twelve-quark amplitudes of hypernuclei, including $u$, $d$, $s$ quarks are constructed. The approximate solutions of these equations are obtained using a method based on the extraction of leading singularities of the amplitudes. The poles of the multiquark amplitudes allow us to determine…
The average transverse momentum transfer per unit path length to a fast parton scattering elastically in a perturbative quark-gluon plasma is related to the radiative energy loss of the parton. We first calculate the momentum transfer coefficient $\hat q$ in terms of a classical Langevin problem and then define it quantum-mechanically through scattering matrix element. After treating the well known case of a quark-gluon plasma in equilibrium we consider an off-equilibrium unstable plasma. As a specific example, we treat the two-stream plasma with unstable modes of longitudinal chromoelectric f…
We study the evolution of a gluon system under conditions of density and temperature similar to those explored in the early stage of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We first describe the implementation of Relativistic Boltzmann-Nordheim (RBN) transport approach that includes in the collision integral the quantum effects of Bose-Einstein Statistics. Then, we describe the evolution of a spatially uniform gluon system in a box under elastic collisions solving the RBN for various initial conditions. We discuss the critical phase-space density that leads to the onset of a Bose-Einstein con…
We compare the effective dynamics of soft fields, based on temperature field theory, with the mean field dynamics from non-Abelian kinetic theory. We derive the polarization tensor with the leading logarithmic factor $\log({gT\overμ})$ from the effective Boltzmann-Langevin equation given by Litim and Manuel. The tensor is identical with effective one-loop contributions within the hard thermal loop effective theory.
We consider Wong equations for a particle with a continuous mass spectrum in a random Yang-Mills field approximating the quantum field at finite temperature. We show that particle time evolution can be approximated by a relativistic diffusion. Kubo's generator of the relativistic diffusion is defined as an expectation value of the square of the Liouville operator.
