The sensitivity of observables in radiative decays psi(2S) -> gamma chi_{1,2} -> gamma gamma J/psi to quadrupole (M2) admixtures in the dominant electric dipole (E1) transitions is explored. Emphasis is placed on distributions in a single angle, and several examples are given.
The radiative decays of the B mesons may have a significant contribution from the transition b -> s J/psi followed by the J/psi-photon conversion. The size of this contribution is re-analysed in the light of a phenomenological model for the weak bsJ/psi vertex, and a modified J/psi-photon interaction that is manifestly gauge invariant. Predictions for both inclusive and exclusive cases are obtained, but large uncertainties still remain.
We study the role of the scalar resonances f0(1370), f0(1500) and f0(1710) in the strong and radiative three-body decays of J/psi with J/psi to V + P P (gamma gamma) and J/psi to gamma + P P (V V), where P (V) denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) meson. We assume that the scalars result from a glueball-quarkonium mixing scheme while the dynamics of the transition process is described in an effective chiral Lagrangian approach. Present data on J/psi to V + P P are well reproduced, predictions for the radiative processes serve as further tests of this scenario.
Using a bound-state model of weakly bound gluons for glueballs made of two gluons and a natural generalization of the perturbative QCD formalism for exclusive hadronic processes, we present results for glueball production in radiative J/psi, Upsilon decays into several possible glueball states, including L \not= 0 ones. We perform a detailed phenomenological analysis, presenting results for the more favored experimental candidates and for decay angular distributions.
Heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory (HHchiPT) and XEFT are applied to the decays X(3872) -> psi(2S) + gamma and psi(4040) -> X(3872) + gamma under the assumption that the X(3872) is a molecular bound state of neutral charm mesons. In these decays the emitted photon energies are 181 MeV and 165 MeV, respectively, so HHchiPT can be used to calculate the underlying D^0 bar{D}^{0*}+ bar{D}^0 D^{0*} -> psi(2S) + gamma or psi(4040) -> (D^0 bar{D}^{0*}+ bar{D}^0 D^{0*}) + gamma transition. These amplitudes are matched onto XEFT to obtain decay rates. The decays receive contributions from both lon…
The X(3872) with quantum numbers J(PC) = 1(++) is considered as a composite state containing both molecular hadronic and a c bar(c) component. Based on this structure assumption we first constrain model parameters in order to reproduce the predictions for the radiative decay widths of X(3872) to J/psi gamma and X(3872) to psi(2S) gamma as obtained in c bar(c) potential models. Depending on these predictions we find that further inclusion of the molecular component can in principle lead to an improved description of the radiative X(3872) decays. We also show that strong decay modes of the X(387…
The eta(1760) may be significantly produced in J/Psi radiative decay. We deduce from experimental data that its branching ratio to two gluons is bounded, 0.4 +- 0.3 < BR(eta(1760) -> gg) < 0.9 +- 0.3, consistent with gluonic admixture. Moreover, the expectation that there should be an isoscalar analogue of the gluonic (hybrid) meson candidate pi(1800) is argued to reinforce hybrid admixture in eta(1760). Two-gluon coupling of hybrids is estimated in a spectator model to be considerably larger than that of quarkonium. In addition, the two-photon coupling of eta(1760) is estimated to be 1.4 +- 0…
We discuss the theoretical status of inclusive radiative decays of charmonium, with a particular emphasis on the QCD description of the photon spectrum, where progress has occurred in recent years. We also comment on the possible extraction of alpha_s (M_J/psi) and on the possibility to gain important information on the nature of J/psi and psi (2S).
We present an effective field theory based extraction of the eta_c mass and width from a recent measurement by CLEO of the photon line shape in J/Psi -> eta_c gamma decay.
We show results from calculations in full lattice QCD of the mass, leptonic width and radiative decay rate to eta_c of the J/psi meson. These provide few % tests of QCD. Another (1.5%) test comes from comparison of time-moments of the vector charmonium correlator with results derived from the experimental values of R(e+e- to hadrons) in the charm region.
The newly observed hidden-charm meson Zc(3900) with quantum numbers J(P) = 1(+) is considered as a hadronic molecule composed of DD*. We give detailed predictions for the decay modes Zc(+) -> J/psi + pi(+) + gamma and Zc(+) -> J/psi + pi(+) + l(+) + l(-) (l = e, mu) in a phenomenological Lagrangian approach.
Cross sections of the e+e- annihilation into one photon plus two vector mesons, such as J/psi rho, J/psi phi, and rho phi at the center of mass energy \sqrt{s}=10.58GeV are calculated. These shed light on the measurement of the e+e- annihilation cross section via radiative return in B-factories. At another center of mass energy \sqrt{s}=3.097GeV, namely the J/psi resonance peak, the processes e+e- --> gamma VV and e+e- --> gamma gamma V (with V being rho, omega, or phi) are calculated with similar method. These calculations give estimation of the background levels in the study of radiative or …
We calculate the partonic cross sections for the hadroproduction of polarized chi_{cJ} mesons using the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic QCD. We also describe how the polarization is passed on to the J/psi mesons in the radiative feed-down chi_{cJ} -> J/psi + gamma and in the double-cascade decays of psi' mesons via chi_{cJ} intermediate states. These represent the missing ingredients needed to predict the polarization of prompt J/psi mesons at the Fermilab Tevatron.
The near-threshold behavior of the ppbar invariant mass spectrum from the psi(3686) -> gamma ppbar decay reported recently by the BESIII Collaboration is analyzed. The enhancement in the ppbar invariant mass spectrum near threshold is nicely reproduced by the ppbar final-state interaction based on the isospin averaged 1S0 partial-wave amplitude as predicted by the Julich nucleon--antinucleon model. Contributions from the f_2(1910) or f_2(1950) mesons, as promoted in earlier works, are not needed.
J/psi and psi' produced in high-energy heavy-ion collisions are absorbed by their collisions with nucleons and produced soft particles, leading to two distinct absorption mechanisms. The signature of absorption by produced soft particles, as revealed by psi' production data, consists of a gap and a change of the slope in going from the pA line to the nucleus-nucleus line when we make a semi-log plot of the survival probability as a function of the path length. Using this signature, we find from the J/psi production data in pA, O-Cu, O-U, and S-U collisions that the degree of J/psi absorption b…
I study the direct hadroproduction of Jψassociated with a charm-quark pair at leading order in alpha_S and v in NRQCD. This process provides an interesting signature that could be studied at the Tevatron. I consider both colour-singlet and colour-octet transitions. I compare our results to the fragmentation approximation and discuss the associated experimental signatures.
The angular distributions of the decay products in the successive decays chi_c (chi_b) to J/psi (Upsilon) gamma and J/psi (Upsilon) to l+l- are calculated as a function of the angular momentum composition of the decaying chi meson and of the multipole structure of the photon radiation, using a formalism independent of production mechanisms and polarization frames. The polarizations of the chi states produced in high energy collisions can be derived from the dilepton decay distributions of the daughter J/psi or Upsilon mesons, with a reduced dependence on the details of the photon reconstructio…
The measurement of the exclusive light hadron decays of the psi'' in e+e- experiments with significant interference between the psi'' and non-resonance continuum amplitudes is discussed. The radiative correction and the Monte Carlo simulation are studied. A possible scheme to verify the destructive interference is proposed for the detectors with energy-momentum resolution of (1-2)%.
We propose that the radiative decay process, η_b\to J/ψγ, may serve as a clean searching mode for η_b in hadron collision facilities. By a perturbative QCD calculation, we estimate the corresponding branching ratio to be of order 10^{-7}. Though very suppressed, this radiative decay channel in fact has larger branching ratio than the hadronic decay process η_b\to J/ψJ/ψ, which was previously hoped to be a viable mode for ferreting out η_b in Tevatron Run 2. The discovery potential of η_b through this channel seems promising in the forthcoming LHC experiments and maybe even in Tevatron Run 2, t…
Using the radiative return method, experiments at high luminosity electron-positron colliders allow to explore the kaon and the pion form factors in the time-like region up to fairly high energies. This opens the possibility to study kaon and pion pair production at and around the narrow resonances J/psi and psi(2S) and explore the interference between electromagnetic and hadronic amplitudes. Parameterizations of charged and neutral kaon as well as pion form factors are derived, which lead to an improved description of the data in the region of large invariant masses of the meson pair. These f…
The interpretation of the J/psi suppression patterns observed in nuclear collisions, at CERN and RHIC, as a signature of the formation of a deconfined phase of QCD matter, requires knowing which fractions of the measured J/psi yields, in pp collisions, are due to decays of heavier charmonium states. From a detailed analysis of the available mid-rapidity charmonium hadro-production cross sections, or their ratios, we determine that the J/psi feed-down contributions from psi' and chi_c decays are, respectively, (8.1 +/- 0.3) % and (25 +/- 5) %. These proton-proton values are derived from global …
We consider the J/Psi production in proton (deuteron) -- nucleus collisions at high energies. We argue that the production mechanism in this case is different from that in pp collisions due to gluon saturation in the nucleus and formation of the Color Glass Condensate. At forward rapidities (in the proton fragmentation region), the production of J/Psi is increasingly suppressed both as a function of rapidity and centrality. On the other hand, at backward rapidities at RHIC (in the fragmentation region of the nucleus) the coherent effects lead to a modest enhancement of the production cross sec…
The polarization of prompt J/psi at the Fermilab Tevatron is calculated within the nonrelativistic QCD factorization framework. The contribution from radiative decays of P-wave charmonium states decreases, but does not eliminate, the transverse polarization at large transverse momentum. The angular distribution parameter alpha for leptonic decays of the J/ψis predicted to increase from near 0 at p_T = 5 GeV to about 0.5 at p_T = 20 GeV. The prediction is consistent with measurements by the CDF Collaboration at intermediate values of p_T, but disagrees by about 3 standard deviations at the larg…
We suggest the ratio of the $ψ''(3770)/ψ'(3686)$ production cross sections as an unambiguous probe of the dominance of hard, point-like physics in charmonium production. If hard physics dominates the charmonium production the ratio : ${σ(ψ'')\overσ(ψ')}\approx {Γ(ψ''\to l^+l^-)\over Γ(ψ'\to l^+l^-)} \approx 0.1$ is independent of the process. We argue that since the dominant $D\bar D$ decay mode of the $ψ''$-meson can be detected with a high efficiency at the current facilities the effective counting rate for the $ψ''$ production should be comparable to that of the $ψ'$ and hence it could be o…
We compute, for the first time using lattice QCD methods, radiative transition rates involving excited charmonium states, states of high spin and exotics. Utilizing a large basis of interpolating fields we are able to project out various excited state contributions to three-point correlators computed on quenched anisotropic lattices. In the first lattice QCD calculation of the exotic 1-+ eta_c1 radiative decay, we find a large partial width Gamma(eta_c1 -> J/psi gamma) ~ 100 keV. We find clear signals for electric dipole and magnetic quadrupole transition form factors in chi_c2 -> J/psi gamma,…
Charmonium formation via charm quark in-medium recombination in heavy ion interactions at collider energies has the potential to probe some properties of the medium by utilizing the sensitivity of the recombination process to the momentum distribution of the quarks. We have examined the transverse momentum spectra of J/Psi, characterized by <p_T^2>, which result from the formation process in which the charm quark distributions are unchanged from their initial production in a pQCD process. This is contrasted with the case in which the charm quarks have completely come into thermal equilibrium w…
The hierarchy among the radiative $γ$($π^0$, $η$, $η^{\prime}$) decay channels for the $ψ^{\prime}$ looks quite different from the $J/ψ$ one. The fate of charm, namely an ultimate survival of on-shell $c \bar{c}$ intermediate states, might give us the clue for this new puzzle in exclusive charmonium decays. A similar self-preservation has already been invoked in the past to solve the so-called $ρπ$ puzzle.
It is suggested that the newly observed Y(4260) by BARBAR collaboration is a molecular state composed of an omega and a chi_{c1}. Both the production and decay properties are discussed. A consequence for this molecular state, Y(4260), is that it decays into pi+pi-pi0 chi_{c1} with similar rate to pi+ pi- J/psi. It is also expected that Y(4260) -> pi0 pi0 J/psi is produced at half rate as Y(4260) ->pi+ pi- J/psi. These decay modes should be searched for in the B factories using initial state radiative return data and B decay data as well.
Using the expression of the dynamical gluon mass obtained through the operator product expansion we discuss the relevance of gluon mass effects in the decays V -> hadrons (V = J/Psi, Upsilon). Relativistic and radiative corrections are also introduced to calculate alpha_s(m_c) and alpha_s(m_b) comparing them with other values available in the literature. The effects of dynamical gluon masses are negligible for Upsilon decay but important for J/Psi decay.
The interplay of charmonium production and suppression in In+In and Pb+Pb reactions at 158 AGeV and in Au+Au reactions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV is investigated with the HSD transport approach within the `hadronic comover model' and the `QGP melting scenario'. The results for the J/Psi suppression and the Psi' to J/Psi ratio are compared to the recent data of the NA50, NA60, and PHENIX Collaborations. We find that, at 158 AGeV, the comover absorption model performs better than the scenario of abrupt threshold melting. However, neither interaction with hadrons alone nor simple color screening satisfac…
Pionic beta decay π^+ to π^0 e^+ ν_e is analyzed in chiral perturbation theory with virtual photons and leptons. All electromagnetic corrections up to order e^2 p^2 are taken into account. Theoretical results are confronted with preliminary data from a PSI measurement and a value for the CKM matrix element |Vud| is given. Although the precision is presently still below the one of existing determinations of |Vud|, an analysis of pionic beta decay, based on a systematic treatment within a low-energy effective field theory, may become a useful alternative.
In this article we propose standard model strictly forbidden decay modes, quarkonia (QQ(1^{--}) = J/psi, Upsilon) decays into two photons, as a possible signature of the space-time non-commutativity. An experimental discovery of J/psi -> gamma gamma and/or Upsilon -> gamma gamma processes would certainly indicate a violation of the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Yang theorem and a definitive appearance of new physics.
The scale of low energy c-cbar and b-bbar cross sections on light hadrons is of great importance to searches for the quark gluon plasma using the heavy-quarkonium suppression signature. Unfortunately, little is known about these near-threshold cross sections at present, and recent theoretical estimates span many orders of magnitude. Here we use experimental data on the four observed closed-flavor heavy quarkonium hadronic decays psi' -> pi pi J/psi, Upsilon' -> pi pi Upsilon, Upsilon'' -> pi pi Upsilon and Upsilon'' -> pi pi Upsilon', combined with simple models of the transition amplitudes, t…
The near-threshold enhancement in the ppbar invariant mass spectrum from the B^+ -> K^+ ppbar decay reported recently by the BaBar Collaboration is studied within the Jülich NNbar model. We illustrate that the invariant mass dependence of the ppbar spectrum close to the threshold can be reproduced by the final state interactions. This explanation is in line with our previous analysis of the ppbar invariant mass spectrum from the J/Psi -> gamma ppbar decay measured by the BES Collaboration. We also comment on a structure found recently in the pi^+ pi^- eta' mass spectrum of the radiative J/Psi …
In this work we give a comprehensive analysis on the phenomenology of a specific $\mathbb{Z}_3$ dark matter (DM) model in which neutrino mass is induced at two loops by interactions with a DM particle that can be a complex scalar or a Dirac fermion. Both the DM properties in relic density and direct detection and the LHC signatures are examined in great detail, and indirect detection for gamma-ray excess from the Galactic Center is also discussed briefly. On the DM side, both semi-annihilation and co-annihilation processes play a crucial role in alleviating the tension of parameter space betwe…
We analyse the testability of the type II radiative seesaw in which neutrino mass and dark matter (DM) are related at one-loop level. Under the constraints from DM relic density, direct and indirect detection, and invisible Higgs decays, we find three possible regions of DM mass $M_{s_1}$ that can survive the present and even the future experiments: (1) the Higgs resonance region with $M_{s_1}\sim M_h/2$, (2) the Higgs region with $M_{s_1}\sim M_h$, and (3) the coannihilation region with $M_{s_2}\sim M_{s_1}$. Here $s_{1,2}$ are two scalar singlets with the lighter $s_1$ being the DM candidate…
The presence of small neutrino masses and flavour mixings can be accounted for naturally in various models about extensions of the standard model, particularly in the seesaw mechanism models. In this work, we present a minimally extended seesaw framework with two right-handed neutrinos, where the active neutrino masses are derived in the radiative regime. Using the framework it can be shown that within certain mass limits, the light neutrino mass term can approach a form that is similar to its form under the type-I seesaw mechanism. Apart from this, we show that the decay width of right-handed…
We update the values of the eta-eta' mixing angle and of the eta' gluonium content by fitting our measurement R_phi = BR(phi to eta' gamma)/ BR(phi to eta gamma) together with several vector meson radiative decays to pseudoscalars (V to P gamma), pseudoscalar mesons radiative decays to vectors (P to V gamma) and the eta' to gamma gamma, pi^0 to gamma gamma widths. From the fit we extract a gluonium fraction of Z^2_G = 0.12 +- 0.04, the pseudoscalar mixing angle psi_P = (40.4 +- 0.6) degree and the phi-omega mixing angle psi_V = (3.32 +- 0.09) degree. Z^2_G and psi_P are fairly consistent with …
Using an improved "analytic K-matrix model", we reconsider the extraction of the sigma/f_0(600) and f_0(980) gamma-gamma widths from gamma-gamma to pi-pi scatterings data of Crystal Ball and Belle. Our main results are summarized in Tables 3 and 4. The averaged sigma "direct width" to gamma-gamma is 0.16(3) keV which confirms a previous result of [1] and which does neither favour a large four-quark (diquark-antidiquark) nor a molecule nor a pure \bar qq component. The "direct width" of the f_0(980) of 0.28(2) keV is much larger than the four-quark expectation but can be compatible with a \bar …
In the present article we report on evidence for hadronic molecule structures in the charmonium sector. In particular we discuss the Y(3940) and the recently observed Y(4140) as heavy hadron molecule states with quantum numbers $J^{PC} = 0^{++}$ or $2^{++}$. The Y(3940) state is considered to be a superposition of $D^{\ast +}D^{\ast -}$ and $D^{\ast 0} \overline{D^{\ast 0}}$, while the Y(4140) is a bound state of $D_s^{\ast +}$ and $D_s^{\ast -}$ mesons. We give predictions for both the strong Y(3940) to J/psi omega, Y(4140) to J/psi phi and radiative Y(3940)/Y(4140) to gamma gamma decay width…
We extract the pole positions, hadronic and gamma-gamma widths of sigma and f_0(980, from pi-pi and gamma-gamma scattering data using an improved analytic K-matrix model. Our results favour a large gluon component for the sigma and a \bar ss or/and gluon component for the f_0(980) but neither a large four-quark nor a molecule component. Gluonium sigma_B production from J/psi, phi radiative and D_s semi-leptonic decays are also discussed.
We discuss whether a low-lying hybrid baryon should be defined as a three quark - gluon bound state or as three quarks moving on an excited adiabatic potential. We show that the latter definition becomes exact, not only for very heavy quarks, but also for specific dynamics. We review the literature on the signatures of hybrid baryons, with specific reference to strong hadronic decays, electromagnetic couplings, diffractive production and production in psi decay.
The following topics are considered. 1) Confinement, chiral dynamics, and light scalar mesons. 2) Chiral shielding of the $σ(600)$. 3) The $ϕ$ meson radiative decays about nature of light scalar resonances. 4) The $J/ψ$ decays about nature of light scalar resonances. 5) The $a_0(980)\toγγ$ and $f_0(980)\toγγ$ decays about nature of light scalar resonances. 6) New round in $γγ\toπ^+π^-$, the Belle data. Arguments in favor of the four-quark model of the $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(980)$ mesons are given.
We study different types of radiative decays involving f0(980) and a0(980) mesons within a unified ChPT-based approach at one-loop level. Light scalar resonances which are seen in pi pi, pi eta, K K-bar channels of phi(1020) radiative decays and in J/psi decays are responsible for key questions of low-energy dynamics in the strong interaction sector, and decays phi(1020) -> gamma a0(980), phi(1020) -> gamma f0(980), a0(980) -> gamma gamma, f0(980) -> gamma gamma are of interest for current experimental programs in Juelich, Frascati and Novosibirsk. From theoretical point of view it is importan…
The recently reported measurements of the CP asymmetry a(psi K) by the BABAR and BELLE collaborations are in good agreement with the standard model prediction. With the anticipated precision in a(psi K) at the B factories and hadron colliders, one hopes to pin down any possible deviation from the SM. We discuss an extension of the MFV-supersymmetric models which comfortably accommodates the current measurements of the CP asymmetry a(psi K), but differs from the SM due to an additional flavour changing structure beyond the CKM matrix. We analyze the compatibility of this model with present data…
The relation between the ratio Gamma_{ee}(psi')/Gamma_{ee}(J/psi) and Gamma_{2gamma}(eta_{c}')/Gamma_{2gamma}(eta_{c}), expressed in terms of the configuration mixing amplitudes induced by the contact spin-spin interaction of quarks in the ground and radial excitation states, is shown to give, after the inclusion of the newly derived relativistic corrections, the radiative eta_{c}'- and η_c-width ratio in fair accord with recent experiments. The dynamical model is proposed to derive the ratio of relative probability of the ground (eta_{c}(2980))- and first radial excitation (eta_{c}'(3640))-st…
The recently reported measurements of the CP asymmetry a(psi K) by the BABAR and BELLE collaborations are in good agreement with the standard model (SM) prediction, resulting from the unitarity of the CKM matrix. The so-called minimal flavour violating (MFV) supersymmetric extensions of the standard model, in which the CKM matrix remains the only flavour changing structure, predict a(psi K) similar to the one in the SM. With the anticipated precision in a(psi K) and other CP asymmetries at the B factories and hadron colliders, one hopes to pin down any possible deviation from the SM. We discus…
In this article we rederive the Boost operators in Coulomb-Gauge Yang-Mills theory employing the path-integral formalism and write down the complete operators for QCD. We immediately apply them to note that what are usually called the pion square, quartic... charge radii, defined from derivatives of the pion form factor at zero squared momentum transfer, are completely blurred out by relativistic and interaction corrections, so that it is not clear at all how to interpret these quantities in terms of the pion charge distribution. The form factor therefore measures matrix elements of powers of …
We examine the hadronic interactions of quarkonia, focusing on the decays psi(2s)->psi pi pi and upsilon(2s)-> upsilon pi pi. The leading gluonic operators in the multipole expansion are matched onto the chiral lagrangian with the coefficients fit to available data, both at tree-level and loop-level in the chiral expansion. A comparison is made with naive expectations loosely based on the large-$N_c$ limit of QCD in an effort to determine the reliability of this limit for other observables, such as the binding of $\ps$ to nuclei. Crossing symmetry is used to estimate the cross-section for inel…
We study the large-order asymptotic behavior of the perturbation series for short-distance coefficients in the NRQCD factorization formulas for the decays J/psi --> e^+e^- and eta_c --> gamma gamma. The short-distance coefficients of the leading matrix elements are calculated to all orders in the large-N_f limit. We find that there is a universal Borel resummable renormalon associated with the cancellation of the Coulomb singularity in the short-distance coefficients. We verify that the ambiguities in the short-distance coefficients from the first infrared renormalon are canceled by ambiguitie…
We discuss precision tests of the standard model in radiative and semileptonic rare B-decays and CP-violating asymmetries, and possible signatures of supersymmetry in these processes. Motivated by current data, and with an eye on the forthcoming measurements, we restrict ourselves to the processes in which the bench marks set by the standard model have either been met by ongoing experiments or are expected to be met shortly. This includes the mixing-induced CP asymmetry, measured through $\sin 2 β$, and branching ratios for the radiative and semileptonic rare decays $B \to X_s γ$, $B \to K^* γ…
Indications of the existence of quasi-bound states in the N-Nbar system are presented. Measurements by BES discovered a broad enhancement close to the p-pbar threshold in the S wave, isospin 0 state formed in radiative decays of J/psi. Another enhancement located about 50 MeV below the threshold was found in mesonic decays of J/psi. In terms of the Paris potential model it was shown that these are likely to represent the same state. Antiprotonic atomic data provide some support for this interpretation and indicate the existence of another fairly narrow quasi-bound state in a P wave.
We investigate the rare radiative decays of extra gauge neutral bosons. In particular, we established the theoretical predictions for the production of unparticle in decays of $Z^{\prime}$ - bosons. The implementation of our prediction in the analysis at the LHC experiments should be straightforward and lead to more precise determination or limits of unparticle couplings and/or $Z^{\prime}$ couplings and masses.
Can one expect gamma rays rates from the QGP to be higher than from the hot hadronic gas phase? Xiong, Shuryak, Brown (XSB) calculate photon production from a hot hadronic gas via the reaction $π^- + ρ^0 \rightarrow π^- + γ$. They assume that this reaction proceeds through the a$_1$(1260). They also use their estimated a$_1$ radiative width to calculate the pion polarizability; following a connection noted previously by Holstein. However, for a$_1$(1260) $\rightarrow πγ$, the experimental radiative width is more than two times less than the value 1.4 MeV estimated and used by XSB. We describe …
We present a general purpose, parton-level Monte Carlo program for the calculation of the radiative ($L\toν\barνl+γ$) and rare ($L\toν\barνl'+ l^+l^-$) muon and tau decays at NLO in the effective Fermi theory. In the case of muon, these processes are irreducible Standard Model backgrounds to searches for lepton flavour violation at the PSI experiments MEG and Mu3e as they become indistinguishable from the corresponding signals when the neutrinos carry little energy. Furthermore, we argue that fully differential NLO corrections are very important for the analysis of measurements aiming at the p…
We investigate a Z3 symmetric model with two-loop radiative neutrino masses. Dark matter in the model is either a Dirac fermion or a complex scalar as a result of an unbroken Z3 symmetry. In addition to standard annihilation processes, semi-annihilation of the dark matter contributes to the relic density. We study the effect of the semi-annihilation in the model and and that those contributions are important to obtain the observed relic density. The experimental signatures in dark matter searches are also discussed, where some of them are expected to be different from the signatures of dark ma…
