We calculate the centrality-dependence of transverse momentum ($\pt$) spectra for direct photons in Au+Au collisions at the RHIC energy, based on a realistic data-constrained (3+1) dimensional hydrodynamic description of the expanding hot and dense matter, a reasonable treatment of the propagation of partons and their energy loss in the fluid, and a systematic study of the main sources of direct photons. The resultant $\pt$ spectra agree with recent PHENIX data in a broad $\pt$ range. The competition among the different direct photon sources is investigated at various centralities. Parton energy loss in the plasma is considered for photons from fragmentation and jet photon conversion, which causes about 40% decrease in the total contribution. In the high $\pt$ region, the observed $R_{AA}$ of photons is centrality independent at the accuracy of 5% based on a realistic treatment of energy loss. We also link the different behavior of $R_{AA}$ for central and peripheral collisions, in the low $\pt$ region, to the fact that the plasma in central collisions is hotter compared to peripheral ones.
The centrality dependence of thermal parameters describing hadron multiplicities and intermediate-mass dilepton spectra in heavy-ion collisions at SPS and RHIC is analyzed. From experimental hadron multiplicities we deduce evidence for strangeness saturation at high energy and maximum centrality. The observed dilepton spectra can be parameterized by a centrality independent temperature.
We analyze the centrality dependence of thermal parameters describing hadron multiplicities, hadron spectra and dilepton spectra in heavy-ion collisions at SPS and RHIC energies.
The dependence of the multiplicity and the transverse momentum distribution on the number of collisions are studied for central and peripheral Au-Au collisions at SPS, RHIC and LHC energies in the framework of percolation of strings. A scaling law relating the multiplicity to the mean transverse momentum is obtained. Our results are in overall agreement with the SPS and RHIC data, obtaining a suppression on $p_T$ distribution even for $p_T$ larger than 1 GeV/c.
The transverse energy and charged particle multiplicity at midrapidity and their ratio are evaluated in a statistical model with the longitudinal and transverse flows for different centrality bins at RHIC at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ and 200 GeV. Full description of decays of hadron resonances is applied in these estimations. The predictions of the model at the freeze-out parameters, which were determined independently from measured particle yields and $p_{T}$ spectra, agree qualitatively well with the experimental data. The observed overestimation of the ratio can be explained for more central coll…
Experimental data on the onset of a so-called anomalous J/psi suppression in PbPb collisions at the SPS are considered in the framework of string percolation model. This onset is observed at a certain collision centrality, characterized by the number of nucleons-participants (Npart) related to the impact-parameter. Modified Bjorken formula calculations are performed for the local energy densities in AA collisions at different impact-parameters and with detailed account of the latest data available on the charged particles densities at midrapidity. Finally we compare variations of mean local en…
We explore the centrality dependence of properties of the dense hadronic matter created in \sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV Au--Au collisions at RHIC. Using the statistical hadronization model we fit particle yields known for 11 centrality bins. We present the resulting model parameters, rapidity yields of physical quantities and the physical properties of bulk matter at hadronization as function of centrality. We discuss the production of strangeness and entropy.
New results of analysis of $K^0_S-$meson spectra measured over a wide range of energy $\sqrt {s_{NN}}=7.7-200$ GeV and centrality in $Au+Au$ collisions by the STAR Collaboration at RHIC using the $z$-scaling approach are presented. Indication on self-similarity of fractal structure of nuclei and fragmentation processes with $K^0_S$ probe is demonstrated. The energy loss as a function of the collision energy, centrality and transverse momentum of the inclusive strange meson is estimated.
The recent PHENIX mid-rapidity measurements of multiplicity distributions for centrality bins are analyzed in the framework of superposition models. A simple superposition of pp events is shown to disagree with the heavy ion data for dispersion as a function of centrality. However, it is suggested that a model describing properly the pp data and based in the "wounded quark" idea may be compatible with the multiplicity data for heavy ion collisions.
We calculate azimuthal correlations in dAu collisions at different rapidities and centralities and argue that experimentally observed depletion of the back-to-back pick can be quantitatively explained by gluon saturation in the Color Glass Condensate of the Gold nucleus.
We show that the QCD color transparency of higher-twist contributions to inclusive hadroproduction cross sections, where baryons are produced directly in a short-distance subprocess, can explain several remarkable features of high-$p_T$ baryon production in heavy ion collisions which have recently been observed at RHIC: (a) the anomalous increase of the proton-to-pion ratio with centrality (b): the increased power-law fall-off at fixed $x_T=2p_T/ \sqrt s$ of the charged particle production cross section in high centrality nuclear collisions, and (c): the anomalous decrease of the number of sam…
We have estimated centrality variation of chemical freeze-out parameters from yield data at mid-rapidity of $π^\pm$, $K^\pm$ and $p$, $\bar{p}$ for collision energies of RHIC (Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider), Beam Energy Scan (RHIC-BES) program, and LHC (Large Hadron Collider). We have considered a simple hadron resonance gas model and employed a formalism involving conserved charges ($B, Q, S$) of QCD for parameterization. Along with temperature and three chemical potentials ($T,μ_B,μ_Q,μ_S$), a strangeness under-saturation factor ($γ_S$) has been used to incorporate the partial equilibratio…
The newly proposed combinational approach, called the grand combinational model (GCM), as would be described in detail in the text, is still under our careful scrutiny. By applying it, we have attempted to analyze here the characteristics of both the transverse momentum($p_{\rm{T}}$)-, and centrality-dependence of production of the main varieties of the secondaries measured in $AuAu$ collisions at BNL-RHIC at both $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}=130$ GeV and $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}=200$ GeV by PHENIX Collaboration. Besides, with the help of it, we have also investigated the nature of centrality-dependence of …
We take the experimental data for transverse momentum spectra of identified charged hadrons in different centrality classes for nucleus-nucleus (A+A) collisions at various Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) energies measured by the STAR collaboration. We analyse these data in the framework of color string percolation model (CSPM) in order to extract various percolation parameters at different centralities at RHIC energies to study the effect of collision geometry and collision energy. We use these parameters to study the centrality dependent behaviour of initial temperature of the percolat…
First results from RHIC on charged multiplicities, evolution of multiplicities with centrality, particle ratios and transverse momentum distributions in central and minimum bias collisions, are analyzed in a string model which includes hard collisions, collectivity in the initial state considered as string fusion, and rescattering of the produced secondaries. Multiplicities and their evolution with centrality are successfully reproduced. Transverse momentum distributions in the model show a larger $p_T$-tail than experimental data, disagreement which grows with increasing centrality. Discrepan…
We study the production of charmonia and charmed hadrons in nucleus-nucleus collisions at SPS, RHIC, and LHC energies within the framework of the statistical hadronization model. Results from this model are compared to the measured yields and centrality dependence of J/psi production at SPS and RHIC energies. We explore and contrast the centrality dependence of the production of mesons with open and hidden charm at SPS, RHIC, and LHC. The sensitivity of the results to various input parameters is analyzed in detail for RHIC energy.
We derive a simple analytical scaling function which embodies the predictions of high density QCD on the energy, centrality, rapidity, and atomic number dependences of hadron multiplicities in nuclear collisions. Both centrality and rapidity dependences of hadron multiplicity in $Au-Au$ collisions as measured at RHIC at $\sqrt{s}= 130 {GeV}$ are well described in this approach. The centrality and rapidity dependences of hadron multiplicity at $\sqrt{s}= 200 \ {GeV}$ run at RHIC are predicted; the variation of these dependences with energy appear different from other approaches, and can be used…
We have demonstrated recently that RHIC heavy ion data concerning particle production at small and intermediate transverse momenta become very transparent, if one realizes that there are two sources of particles production: the corona -- due to the interactions of the peripheral nucleons of either nucleus, and the core -- representing the high density central zone. We extend our analysis to SPS heavy ion data. Again, we find that the nontrivial centrality dependence of particle production (being stronger than at RHIC) is simply due to an increasing corona contribution with decreasing centralit…
We attempt to describe the rapidity distribution of P, P-bar, K+ and K- for the most central Au+Au collisions at root(sNN) of 62.4 GeV,130 GeV and 200 GeV. The transverse momentum spectra of strange as well as non-strange hadrons e.g. P, P-bar, K+, K-, Lambda, Lambda-bar, Cascade,Cascade-bar and (Omega + Omega-bar) are studied for the whole centrality classes at all the three RHIC energies. The experimental data of the transverse momentum spectra and the rapidity distributions are well reproduced. This is done by using a statistical thermal freeze-out model which incorporates the rapidity (col…
Event-by-event fluctuating initial conditions (IC) in the ideal hydrodynamic calculation are known to enhance the production of thermal photons significantly compared to a smooth initial state averaged profile in the range $p_T >$ 1 GeV/$c$ for 200A GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC and 2.76A TeV Pb+Pb collisions at LHC. The 'hotspots' or the over-dense regions in the fluctuating IC produce more high $p_T$ photons compared to the smooth IC due to the strong temperature dependent emission of the thermal radiation. This enhancement is expected to be more pronounced for peripheral collisions, for lowe…
We analyse the centrality dependence of thermal parameters deduced from hadron m ultiplicities in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 130 GeV$. While the chemical freeze-out temperature and chemical potentials are found to be roughly centrality-independent, the strangeness saturation factor $γ_S$ increases with participant number towards unity, supporting the assumption of equilibrium freeze-out conditions in central collisions.
This presentation summarizes the results on ultra-peripheral collisions obtained at RHIC. It also discusses some aspects of the corresponding electromagnetic interactions in pp and pbarp collisions.
The multiplicity of charged particles produced in Au+Au collisions as a function of energy, centrality, rapidity and azimuthal angle has been measured with the PHOBOS detector at RHIC. These results contribute to our understanding of the initial state of heavy ion collisions and provide a means to compare basic features of particle production in nuclear collisions with more elementary systems.
The central goal of jet quenching studies in high-energy nuclear collisions is the characterization of those QCD medium properties that are accessible by these probes. Most of the discussion in the last years has been focused on the determination of the jet quenching parameter, $\hat q$. We present here an extraction of this parameter using data of inclusive particle suppression at RHIC and LHC energies for different centralities. Our approach consists of fitting a $K$ factor that quantifies the departure of this parameter from an ideal estimate, $K\equiv \hat q/(2ε^{3/4})$, where $\hat q$ is …
We discuss azimuthal correlations in $dAu$ collisions at different rapidities and centralities and argue that experimentally observed depletion of the back-to-back peak can be quantitatively explained by gluon saturation in the Color Glass Condensate of the Gold nucleus.
The transverse energy and the charged particle multiplicity at midrapidity are evaluated in a single-freeze-out model for different centrality bins at RHIC at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ and 200 GeV. The predictions of the model are done at the freeze-out parameters determined earlier from measured particle yields and $p_{T}$ spectra. The results agree qualitatively well with the experimental data.
We present our recent results on jet tomography of AA-collisions at RHIC and LHC. We focus on flavor dependence of the nuclear modification factor. The computations are performed accounting for radiative and collisional parton energy loss with running coupling constant.
The centrality dependence of the charged-particle multiplicity densities ($dN_{ch}/dη$) and transverse energy densities ($dE_{T}/dη$) are investigated using the two-component Glauber approach for broad range of energies in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC. A comprehensive study shows that the data is well described within the framework of two component model which includes the contribution of "soft processes" and "hard processes" for different centrality classes and energies. The data at two different energies are compared by means of the ratio of $dN_{ch}/dη$ (and $dE_{T}/dη$) to see the …
In this work, we study electrical conductivity and Hall conductivity in the presence of electromagnetic field using Relativistic Boltzmann Transport Equation with Relaxation Time Approximation. We evaluate these transport coefficients for a strongly interacting system consisting of nearly massless particles which is similar to Quark-Gluon Plasma and is likely to be formed in heavy-ion collision experiments. We explicitly include the effects of magnetic field in the calculation of relaxation time. The values of magnetic field are obtained for all the centrality classes of Au+Au collisions at $\…
The centrality dependence of transverse momentum spectra for identified hadrons at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}= 200$ GeV is systematically studied in a quark combination model. The $\mathrm{{p}_{T}}$ spectra of $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$, $p(\bar{p})$ and $Λ(\barΛ)$ in different centrality bins and the nuclear modification factors ($R_{CP}$) for these hadrons are calculated. The centrality dependence of the average collective transverse velocity $<β(r)>$ for the hot and dense quark matter is obtained in Au+Au collisions, and it is applied to a relative smaller Cu+Cu collision s…
Simultaneous Buda-Lund hydro model fits are presented to identified particle spectra and two-particle Bose-Einstein correlations as measured by the STAR collaboration in $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV p+p collisions at RHIC. Preliminary results are compared to similar results in Au+Au collisions at RHIC, hadron+p reactions as well as Pb+Pb collisions at CERN SPS.
Hadron multiplicity in the central rapidity region of high-energy heavy-ion collisions is investigated within a two-component mini-jet model which consists of soft and semi-hard particle production. The hard contribution from mini-jets is reevaluated using the latest parameterization of parton distributions and nuclear shadowing. The energy dependence of the experimental data from RHIC requires a strong nuclear shadowing of the gluon distribution in this model. The centrality dependence of the hadron multiplicity at $\sqrt{s}=130$ GeV is reproduced well with the impact-parameter dependent part…
In our analysis, we combine event-by-event hydrodynamics, within the EKRT formulation, with jet quenching -ASW Quenching Weights- to obtain high-$p_T$ $R_{\rm AA}$ for charged particles at RHIC and LHC energies for different centralities. By defining a $K$-factor that quantifies the departure of $\hat{q}$ from an ideal estimate, $K = \hat{q}/(2ε^{3/4})$, we fit the single-inclusive experimental data for charged particles. This $K$-factor is larger at RHIC than at the LHC but, surprisingly, it is almost independent of the centrality of the collision.
We compute the centrality dependence of multiplicities of particles produced in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions at various energies and atomic numbers. The computation is carried out in perturbative QCD with saturated densities of produced gluons and by including effects of nuclear geometry. Numbers are given for Au+Au collisions at RHIC energies.
The single-freeze-out model of hadron production is used to describe the particle ratios and the transverse-momentum spectra from RHIC. The emphasis is put on the new measurements done at the highest beam energy of 200 GeV. An overall very good agreement is found between the data and the model predictions. The data for different centrality windows are analyzed separately. A simple scaling of the two expansion parameters of the model with the centrality is found. Interestingly, this scaling turns out to be equivalent to the scaling of hadron production with the number of wounded nucleons.
The production of charmonia is investigated for heavy-ion collisions from SPS to RHIC energies. Our approach incorporates two sources of $J/Ψ$ yield: (i) a direct contribution arising from early (hard) parton-parton collisions, subject to subsequent nuclear absorption, quark-gluon plasma and hadronic dissociation, and (ii) statistical production at the hadronization transition by coalescence of $c$ and $\bar{c}$ quarks. Within an expanding thermal fireball framework, the model reproduces $J/Ψ$ centrality dependencies observed at the SPS in Pb-Pb and S-U collisions reasonably well. The study of…
In this paper we consider the suppression of bottomonium states in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. We compute the suppression as a function of centrality, rapidity, and transverse momentum for the states Upsilon(1s), Upsilon(2s), Upsilon(3s), chi_b1, and chi_b2. Using this information, we then compute the inclusive Upsilon(1s) suppression as a function of centrality, rapidity, and transverse momentum including feed down effects. Calculations are performed for both RHIC sqrt(s_NN)=200 GeV Au-Au collisions and LHC sqrt(s_NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions. From the comparison of our theoretic…
We analyze the first results on charged particle multiplicity at RHIC in the conventional eikonal approach and in the framework of high density QCD. We extract the fraction $F$ of the hadron multiplicity originating from ``hard'' (i.e. proportional to the number of binary collisions) processes; we find a strong growth of this fraction with energy: $F(\sqrt{s}=56 {\rm GeV}) \simeq 22%$, while $F(\sqrt{s}=130 {\rm GeV}) \simeq 37 %$. This indicates a rapid increase in the density of the produced particles. We outline the predictions of high density QCD for the centrality, energy, and atomic numb…
The centrality dependence of thermal parameters, characterizing the hadron multiplicities, is determined phenomenologically for lead-on-lead collisions at CERN-SPS for a beam energy of 158 AGeV. The strangeness equilibration factor shows a clear, approximately linear, increase with increasing centrality, while the freeze-out temperature and chemical potential remain constant.
Direct photon spectra and elliptic flow v2 in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies are investigated within a relativistic transport approach incorporating both hadronic and partonic phases - the Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD). The results suggest that a large v2 of the direct photons - as observed by the PHENIX Collaboration - signals a significant contribution of photons produced in interactions of secondary mesons and baryons in the late stages of the collision. In order to further differentiate the origin of the direct photon azimuthal asymmetry, we compare our predictions fo…
We improve the centrality definition in impact parameter in PACIAE model responding the fact reported by the ALICE, ATLAS, and CMS collaborations that the maximum impact parameter in heavy ion collisions should be extended to 20 $fm$. Meanwhile the PACIAE program is updated to a new version of PACIAE 2.2.2 with convenience of studying the elementary nuclear collisions, proton-nucleus collisions, and the nucleus-nucleus collisions in one unified program version. The new impact parameter definition together with the optical Glauber model calculated impact parameter bin, $N_{part}$, and $N_{coll}…
We calculate the centrality dependence of inclusive cross section of large-pT charmed-meson ($D^{0}$, $D^{*}$, $D^{*+}$, and $D_{s}^{+}$) from heavy quark fragmentation by the hard photoproduction processes for the nucleus-nucleus collisions in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. The numerical results indicate that the modification of the hard photoproduction processes cannot be negligible for the charmed-meson production in Au-Au collisions at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Pb-Pb collisions at Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
We present preliminary results from the study of dynamical net-charge fluctuations measured in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 39 GeV to 7.7 GeV and compare with the published results at higher collision energies. We also present the centrality dependence of the dynamical net-charge fluctuations.
We present a modified colour screening model for $J/ψ$ suppression in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) using quasi-particle model (QPM) as equation of state (EOS). Other theoretical ingredients incorporated in the model are feed-down from higher resonances namely, $χ_c$, and $ψ^{'}$, dilated formation time for quarkonia and viscous effects of the QGP medium. Assuming further that the QGP is expanding with Bjorken's hydrodynamical expansion, the present model is used to analyze the centrality dependence of the $J/ψ$ suppression in mid-rapidity region and compare it with the data obtained from SPS, …

Dilepton production in heavy-ion collisions at collider energies - i.e., for the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) - is studied within an approach that uses coarse-grained transport simulations to calculate thermal dilepton emission applying in-medium spectral functions from hadronic many-body theory and partonic production rates based on lattice calculations. The microscopic output from the Ultra-relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model is hereby put on a grid of space-time cells which allows to extract the local temperature and chemical p…
Motivated by experimental results from RHIC, we suggest how a condensate for the Polyakov loop might produce explosive behavior at the QCD phase transition. This is due to a rapid rollover of the condensate field below the transition temperature.
We have developed a hydrodynamic model to study sequential melting of charmonium states in an expanding QGP medium. According to the initial fluid temperature profile, $J/ψ$'s are randomly distributed in the transverse plane. As the fluid evolve in time, the free streaming $J/ψ$'s are suppressed if the local fluid temperature exceed a critical temperature. PHENIX data on the centrality dependence of $J/ψ$ suppression in Au+Au collisions at mid-rapidity are explained by sequential melting of the charmonium states, $χ_c$, $ψ\prime$ and $J/ψ$, in the expanding medium. The critical temperatures $T…
Based on the data-driven analysis, the mid-rapidity transverse momentum spectra of charged hadrons produced in central and peripheral gold-gold (Au-Au) collisions from the Beam Energy Scan (BES) program at the relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) are fitted by the blast-wave model with Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics. The model result are in agreement with the experimental data measured by the STAR Collaboration at the RHIC-BES energies. We observe that the kinetic freeze-out temperature, transverse flow velocity, mean transverse momentum, and initial temperature increase with the collision energ…
In this article, we briefly review recent progress on hydrodynamic modeling and its implementations to relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and the LHC. The related topics include: 1) initial state fluctuations, final state correlations and event-by-event hydrodynamics, 2) extracting the QGP shear viscosity from flow data, 3) flow and hydrodynamics in 5.02 A TeV p+Pb collisions.
We have analysed the preliminary PHENIX data on the transverse momentum distribution of direct photons in 0-20% centrality Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV. In ideal hydrodynamics, data are explained if Au+Au collision produces Quark-Gluon-Plasma at the temperature $T_i$=400 MeV, at an initial time $τ_i$=0.6 fm. PHENIX data are not explained in the alternate scenario when Au+Au collisions produces hot hadronic gas with initial temperature within physically acceptable limit.
The thermodynamic properties of matter created in high-energy heavy-ion collisions have been studied in the framework of the non-extensive Tsallis statistics. The transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$)~spectra of identified charged particles (pions, kaons, protons) and all charged particles from the available experimental data of Au-Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) energies and Pb-Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies are fitted by the Tsallis distribution. The fit parameters, $q$ and $T$ measure the degree of deviation from an equilibrium state and th…
We calculate the centrality dependence of the midrapidity nuclear modification for inclusive prompt photon production in d+Au and Au+Au collisions at RHIC and in p+Pb and Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC. Our results, using the recent spatially dependent nuclear PDF set EPS09s, are consistent with the existing high-pT data from the PHENIX and CMS collaborations. The good agreement even in the case of nucleus+nucleus collisions suggests that the high-pT direct photon production is not significantly altered by the strongly interacting medium produced in such collisions. We find the centrality depende…
A process of inelastic nucleon-nucleon collisions with the impact parameter less than a radius of the nucleon quark core is considered. The criteria for selection of such collisions from a full array of the nucleon-nucleon interactions are suggested.
The centrality dependence of pseudorapidity density of charged particles and transverse energy is studied for a wide range of collision energies for heavy-ion collisions at midrapidity from 7.7 GeV to 5.02 TeV. A two-component model approach has been adopted to quantify the soft and hard components of particle production, coming from nucleon participants and binary nucleon-nucleon collisions, respectively. Within experimental uncertainties, the hard component contributing to the particle production has been found not to show any clear collision energy dependence from RHIC to LHC. The effect of…
We study the charged particle and transverse energy production mechanism from AGS, SPS, RHIC to LHC energies in the framework of nucleon and quark participants. At RHIC and LHC energies, the number of nucleons-normalized charged particle and transverse energy density in pseudorapidity, which shows a monotonic rise with centrality, turns out to be an almost centrality independent scaling behaviour when normalized to the number of participant quarks. A universal function which is a combination of logarithmic and power-law, describes well the charged particle and transverse energy production both…
The concept of centrality in high-energy nuclear collisions has recently become a subject of an active debate. In particular, the experimental methods to determine the centrality that have given reasonable results for many observables in high-energy lead-lead collisions at the LHC have led to surprising behaviour in the case of proton-lead collisions. In this letter, we discuss the possibility to calibrate the experimental determination of centrality by asymmetries caused by mutually different spatial distributions of protons and neutrons inside the nuclei --- a well-known phenomenon in nuclea…
The fact that nuclei have diffuse surfaces (rather than being simple spheres) has dramatic consequences on the interpretation of RHIC heavy-ion data. The effect is quite small (but not negligible) for central collisions, but gets increasingly important with decreasing centrality. One may actually divide the collision zone into a central part ("core"), with expected high energy densities, and a peripheral part ("corona"), with smaller energy densities, more like in pp or pA collisions. We will discuss that many complicated "features" observed at RHIC become almost trivial after subtracting the …
