Immersions associated with holomorphic germs

A holomorphic germ Φ: (C^2, 0) \to (C^3, 0), singular only at the origin, induces at the links level an immersion of S^3 into S^5. The regular homotopy type of such immersions are determined by their Smale invariant, defined up to a sign ambiguity. In the study of equisingularity of families of mappings Gaffney introduced the crucial notion of excellent unfoldings. This definition essentially says that the family can be stratified so that there are no strata of dimension 1 other than the parameter axis for the family. The basic examples of functions defining non-isolated hypersurface singularities are the A(d) singularities and the D(q,p) singularities. Let f_1 and f_2 be real analytic germs of independent variables. In this paper, we assume that f_1, f_2 and f = f_1 + f_2 satisfy a_f -condition. Then we show that the tubular Milnor fiber of f is homotopy equivalent to the join of tubular Milnor fibers of f_1 and f_2.

The topology of real suspension singularities of type $f \bar{g}+z^n$

In this article we study the topology of a family of real analytic germs $F \colon (\mathbb{C}^3,0) \to (\mathbb{C},0)$ with isolated critical point at 0, given by $F(x,y,z)=f(x,y)\bar{g(x,y)}+z^r$, where $f$ and $g$ are holomorphic, $r \in \mathbb{Z}^+$ and $r \geq 2$. A Note On Non-Isolated Real Singularities and Links

For analytic map germs $f: (\mathbb{R}^n, 0)\to (\mathbb{R}, 0)$ having an isolated critical value in the origin with $\dim V(f)>0$ and satisfying the transversality property of D.B. Massey we show that for $c>0$ a large enough constant, and $k$ a large enough natural number the local Milnor-Lê fibers of $f$ and of the isolated singularity $g=f-c(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i^2)^k$ satisfies the following. There exists a homotopy equivalence between the negative Milnor-Lê fiber of $f$, to which a cobordism between its boundary and the link of $f$ has been adjoined, and the negative Milnor-Lê fiber of $g$.
