A few years ago, Naruse presented a beautiful cancellation-free hook-length formula for skew shapes, both straight and shifted. The formula involves a sum over objects called \emph{excited diagrams}, and the term corresponding to each excited diagram has hook lengths in the denominator, like the classical hook-length formula due to Frame, Robinson and Thrall. Some conjectures on partition hook lengths, recently stated by the author, have been proved and generalized by Stanley, who also needed a formula by Andrews, Goulden and Jackson on symmetric functions to complete his derivation. Another identity on symmetric functions can be used instead. The purpose of this note is to prove it.
This paper proves a generalization of a conjecture of Guoniu Han, inspired originally by an identity of Nekrasov and Okounkov. The main result states that certain sums over partitions p of n, involving symmetric functions of the squares of the hook lengths of p, are polynomial functions of n. A similar result is obtained for symmetric functions of the contents and shifted parts of n.

Motivated by the many roles that hook lengths play in mathematics, we study the distribution of the number of $t$-hooks in the partitions of $n$. We prove that the limiting distribution is normal with mean $μ_t(n)\sim \frac{\sqrt{6n}}π-\frac{t}{2}$ and variance $σ_t^2(n)\sim \frac{(π^2-6)\sqrt{6n}}{2π^3}.$ Furthermore, we prove that the distribution of the number of hook lengths that are multiples of a fixed $t\geq 4$ in partitions of $n$ converge to a shifted Gamma distribution with parameter $k=(t-1)/2$ and scale $θ=\sqrt{2/(t-1)}.$

In this work we introduce and study various generalizations of the notion of increasingly labelled trees, where the label of a child node is always larger than the label of its parent node, to multilabelled tree families, where the nodes in the tree can get multiple labels. We consider weighted generating functions of trees where the weights are products of functions of the sizes of the subtrees. This work begins with the observation that three different communities, largely independently, found substantially the same result concerning these series. We unify these results with a common generalization. Next we use the insights of one community on the problems of another in two different ways. We study the generalization of shifted Jack polynomials to arbitrary multiplicity free spaces. In a previous paper (math.RT/0006004) we showed that these polynomials are eigenfunctions for commuting difference operators. Our central result now is the "transposition formula", a generalization of Okounkov's binomial theorem (q-alg/9608021) for shifted Jack polynomials. From this formula, we derive an interpolation formula, an evaluation formula, a scalar product, a binomial theorem, and properties of the algebra generated by the multiplication and difference operators.
