We study in the $k_T$ factorisation framework jet production at LHC energies. In particular we are interested in valence quark and gluon initiated jets. The calculation of the relevant hard matrix element is presented. A CCFM like evolutionequation for valence quark distribution is solved and the cross section for valence quark and gluon initiated process is calculated using Monte Carlo event generator CASCADE.
We present a study within the kT-factorisation scheme on single bottom quark production at the LHC. In particular, we calculate the rapidity and transverse momentum differential distributions for single bottom quark/anti-quark production. In our setup, the unintegrated gluon density is obtained from the NLx BFKL Green function whereas we included mass effects to the Lx heavy quark jet vertex. We compare our results to the corresponding distributions predicted by the usual collinear factorisation scheme. The latter were produced with Pythia 8.1.
By exploring the scattering of specific helicity states in quark-gluon scattering at tree level we show explicitly that the t-channel pole can be described exactly as a contraction of two local currents. Furthermore, we demonstrate that out of eight non-zero helicity possibilities, only two suppressed channels have contributions that are not pure, factorised t-channel poles. We thereby extract a gauge-invariant definition for the t-channel current generated by the scattering of a gluon. This offers a slight improvement in the description of gluon scattering in the framework of arXiv:0908.2786 …
Theoretical studies of Higgs production via gluon fusion are frequently carried out in the limit where the top quark mass is much larger than the Higgs mass, an approximation which reduces the top quark loop to an effective vertex. We present a numerical analysis of the error thus introduced by performing a Monte Carlo calculation for gg->h in kT-factorisation, using the parton shower generator CASCADE. We proceed to compare CASCADE to the collinear Monte Carlos PYTHIA, MC@NLO and POWHEG. We study the dependence of parton radiation on the resummation of high-energy corrections taken into accou…
In order to investigate the tomographical structure of light pseudoscalar mesons, particularly, pion and kaon, we study the valence quark distribution function (PDF) and the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) using light-cone quark model (LCQM).
We present an attempt of maximum entropy principle to determine valence quark distributions in the proton at very low resolution scale $Q_0^2$. The initial three valence quark distributions are obtained with limited dynamical information from quark model and QCD theory. Valence quark distributions from this method are compared to the lepton deep inelastic scattering data, and the widely used CT10 and MSTW08 data sets. The obtained valence quark distributions are consistent with experimental observations and the latest global fits of PDFs. Maximum entropy method is expected to be particularly u…
Valence quark distributions of pion at very low resolution scale $Q^{2}_0 \sim 0.1~GeV^2$ are deduced from a maximum entropy method, under the assumption that pion consists of only a valence quark and a valence anti-quark at such a low scale. Taking the obtained initial quark distributions as the nonperturbative input in the modified Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (with the GLR-MQ-ZRS corrections) evolution, the generated valence quark distribution functions at high $Q^2$ are consistent with the measured ones from a Drell-Yan experiment. The maximum entropy method is also applied t…
We present particular and unique solutions of Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov- Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) evolution equations for light sea and valence quark structure functions in leading order (LO). We obtain t evolutions of sea and valence quark structure functions and x- evolutions of light sea quark structure functions from DGLAP evolution equations. The results are compared with a recent global parameterization.
We briefly report on a recent computation, with the help of a fruitful algebraic model, sketching the pion valence dressed-quark generalized parton distribution and, very preliminary, discuss on a possible avenue to get reliable results in both Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) and Efremov-Radyushkin-Brodsky-Lepage (ERBL) kinematial regions.
We analyse the semileptonic decay of a polarised top-quark with a large velocity based on the perturbative QCD factorisation framework. Thanks to the factorisation and the spin decomposition, the production part and the decay part can be factorised and the spin dependence is introduced in the decay part. The decay part is converted to the top-jet function which describes the distribution of jet observables and the spin is translated to the helicity of the boosted top. Using this top-jet function, the energy profile of b-jet is investigated and it is turned out that the sub-jet energy for the h…

We sketch here an approach to the computation of generalised parton distributions (GPDs), based upon a rainbow-ladder (RL) truncation of QCD's Dyson-Schwinger equations and exemplified via the pion's valence dressed-quark GPD, $H_π^{\rm v}(x,ξ,t)$. Our analysis focuses on the case of zero skewness, $ξ=0$, and underlines that the impulse-approximation used hitherto to define the pion's valence dressed-quark GPD is generally invalid owing to omission of contributions from the gluons which bind dressed-quarks into the pion. A simple correction enables us to identify a practicable improvement to t…
We study the exclusive production of heavy flavors at central rapidities in hadron-hadron collisions within the kT factorisation formalism. Since this involves regions of small Bjorken x in the unintegrated gluon densities, we include the next-to-leading order BFKL contributions working directly in transverse momentum representation. Our results are presented in a form suitable for Monte Carlo implementation.
In rare $B$ meson decays $B\rightarrow K \ell^+ \ell^-$, a possible contribution of $\ell^+\ell^-$ emission via photon from the "spectator" quark $q$ ($q=u,d$) in the $B$ meson $(q\bar{b})$ is investigated in addition to the conventional one $\bar{b} \rightarrow \bar{s} +γ\rightarrow \bar{s}+\ell^+ + \ell^-$. If such a contribution is sizable compared with the standard estimation of $B\rightarrow K \ell^+ \ell^-$, we will observe visible difference between $d Γ(B^0\rightarrow K^0 \ell^+ \ell^-)/d q^2$ and $d Γ(B^+\rightarrow K^+ \ell^+ \ell^-)/d q^2$ in $q^2$ dependence ($q^2 \equiv m_{\ell\el…

We have calculated the Bjorken-x dependence of the kaon and pion valence quark distributions in a statistical model. Each meson is described by a Fock state expansion in terms of quarks, antiquarks and gluons. Although Drell-Yan experiments have measured the pion valence quark distributions directly, the kaon valence quark distributions have only been deduced from the measurement of the ratio $\bar{u}_K(x)/\bar{u}_π(x)$. We show that, using no free parameters, our model predicts the decrease of this ratio with increasing x.
In this contribution, we discuss the spin and flavor content of the proton in the framework of the unquenched quark model, and address the role of valence and sea quarks in the nucleon.
In-medium valence-quark distributions of $π^+$ and $K^+$ mesons in symmetric nuclear matter are studied by combining the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model and the quark-meson coupling model. The in-medium properties of the current quarks, which are used as inputs for studying the in-medium pion and kaon properties in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model, are calculated within the quark-meson coupling model. The light-quark condensates, light-quark dynamical masses, pion and kaon decay constants, and pion- and kaon-quark coupling constants are found to decrease as nuclear density increases. The obtained valen…
We report the observation of the existence of a possible universal limit for valence parton distributions that should exist once partonic degrees of freedom are relevant for high energy scattering from strongly interacting bound systems like a nucleon, meson or a few nucleon system at very short distances. Our observation is based on the notion that the Bjorken x weighted valence parton distribution function has a peak, $x_p$, that characterizes the average momentum fraction carried out by the valence quarks in the system. Within the residual mean-field model of the valence quark distribution …
The Abelian decomposition of QCD which decomposes the gluons to the color neutral binding gluons and the colored valence gluons shows that QCD can be viewed as the restricted QCD (RCD) made of the binding gluons which has the valence gluons as colored source, and simplifies the QCD dynamics greatly. In particular, it tells that the gauge covariant valence gluons can be treated as the constituents of hadrons, and generalizes the quark model to the quark and valence gluon model. So it provides a comprehensive picture of glueballs and their mixing with quarkoniums, and predicts new hybrid hadrons…
We discuss the relation between the polarization of inclusively produced (anti)-hyperons and the incident baryon states in the framework of the constituent quark-diquark cascade model. We assume that there is an intrinsic diquark-antidiquark state in the incident baryon, in which the intrinsic diquark immediately fragments into a non-leading baryon and the antidiquark behaves as a valence constituent. It is also assumed that the valence (anti)diquark in the incident nucleon tends to combine selectively with a spin-down sea quark and, on the othe hand, the spin-up valence quark in the projectil…
The valence double parton distribution of the pion is analyzed in the framework of chiral quark models, where in the chiral limit factorization between the longitudinal and transverse degrees of freedom occurs. This feature leads, at the quark-model scale, to a particularly simple distribution of the form $D(x_1,x_2, \vec{q}) = δ(1-x_1-x_2) F(\vec{q})$, where $x_{1,2}$ are the longitudinal momentum fractions carried the valence quark and antiquark and $\vec{q}$ is their relative transverse momentum. For $\vec{q}=\vec{0}$ this result complies immediately to the Gaunt-Sterling sum rules. The DGL…
We suggest to compare the deep inelastic scattering structure functions measured in the unpolarized charged-lepton scattering off a transversely polarized proton and off a longitudinally polarized proton at larger Bjorken variable $x$, one may get a direct evidence concerning the valence quark orbital angular momentum in the proton. This possible rotating effect is estimated by using a proton-ensemble model.
