The modification of mesonic observables in a hot medium is analyzed as a tool to investigate the restoration of chiral and axial symmetries in the context of the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. The results of the extended model lead to the conclusion that the effects of the Polyakov loop are fundamental for reproducing lattice findings. In particular, the partial restoration of the chiral symmetry is faster in the PNJL model than in the NJL one, and it is responsible for several effects: the meson-quark coupling constants show a remarkable difference in both models, there is a faster tendency to recover the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule, and finally the topological susceptibility nicely reproduces the lattice results around $T/T_c\approx 1.0$.
We study the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions in the context of non-local PNJL models, considering the impact of the presence of dynamical quarks on the scale parameter appearing in the Polyakov potential. We show that the corresponding critical temperatures are naturally entangled for both zero and imaginary chemical potential, in good agreement with lattice QCD results. We also analyze the Roberge Weiss transition, which is found to be first order at the associated endpoint.
We investigate the modifications of mesonic properties in a hot medium having in mind to use the mesonic modes as a tool to analyze the restoration of chiral and axial symmetries in the context of the SU(3) Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model. The results lead to the conclusion that the effects of the Polyakov loop are fundamental for reproducing lattice findings. It is found that the restoration of chiral symmetry in the PNJL model occurs in a small range of temperature (smaller that in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL)), and the topological susceptibility reproduces well the lattice resul…
In the framework of nonlocal SU(2) chiral quark models with Polyakov loop, we analyze the dependence of the deconfinement and chiral restoration critical temperatures on the explicit chiral symmetry breaking driven by the current quark mass. Our results are compared with those obtained within the standard local Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model and with lattice QCD calculations. For a wide range of pion masses, it is found that both deconfinement and chiral restoration critical temperatures turn out to be strongly entangled, in contrast with the corresponding results within the PNJL mod…
The phase transitions characterized by deconfinement and restoration of chiral symmetry as well as the restoration of axial symmetry, at finite temperature, are investigated in the framework of SU(2) Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) models with the U$_A$(1) anomaly. The thermodynamics of the phase transitions, the topological susceptibility, the meson spectrum, and, in particular, the convergence of axial and chiral partners are analyzed, in the framework of the ordinary PNJL model and in its extension, the entangled Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (EPNJL) model. The latter incorporates entangle…
In this paper, the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions in strong magnetic field is realized at zero temperature in the Polyakov Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. We provide the thermodynamic treatment to mimic the deconfinement phase transition at zero temperature together with the entangled scalar and vector interactions coupled with the Polyakov loop. The magnetic catalysis is found by a rising behavior of the critical chemical potential for the first-order deconfinement phase transition. While the magnetic catalysis on the chiral restoration could convert to inverse magnetic catalysi…
We study the features of a SU(2) Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model that includes wave function renormalization and nonlocal vector interactions. Within this framework we analyze, among other properties, the masses, width and decay constants of light vector and axial-vector mesons at finite temperature. Then we obtain the corresponding phase diagram in a finite density scenario, after characterizing the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions.
Using the PNJL model, we investigate C and P violations when theta =pi and Theta =mu/(iT)=π/3, where T, theta and mu are the temperature, the parameter of theta-vacuum and the quark number chemical potential, respectively. It is shown that the C violation and the P restoration happen almost simultaneously at theta=pi and Theta =pi/3, if the deconfinement and the chiral symmetry restoration happen almost simultaneously at theta =Theta =0.
A PNJL model is built, in which the Polyakov-loop potential is explicitly Z$_{N_c}$-symmetric in order to mimic a Yang-Mills theory with gauge group SU($N_c$). The physically expected large-$N_c$ and large-$T$ behaviours of the thermodynamic observables computed from the Polyakov-loop potential are used to constrain its free parameters. The effective potential is eventually U(1)-symmetric when $N_c$ is infinite. Light quark flavours are added by using a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model coupled to the Polyakov loop (the PNJL model), and the different phases of the resulting PNJL model are discuss…
We propose a three-flavor version of the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasino (PNJL) model at zero temperature regime, by implementing a traced Polyakov loop ($Φ$) dependence in the scalar, vector and 't Hooft channel strengths. We study the thermodynamics of this model, named as PNJL0, with special attention for the first order confinement/deconfinement phase transition for which $Φ$ is the order parameter. For the symmetric quark matter case, an interesting feature observed is a strong reduction of the constituent strange quark mass ($M_s$) at the chemical potential related to point where deconfinemen…
The behavior of the quark condensates at zero chemical potential and finite temperature subject to an external magnetic field is studied within the three flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with Polyakov loop (PNJL) and its extension, the so-called entangled PNJL model (EPNJL). A comparison with recent lattice QCD data is performed and it is shown that at $T=0$ MeV the light quark condensates are in quantitative agreement. At finite temperature, although there is an overall reasonable agreement with several lattice results, it is shown that in the lattice calculations the effect due to the electr…
We investigate the restoration of chiral SU$(3)\otimes$SU$(3)$ and axial U$_A$(1) symmetries, at finite temperature and density, in the framework of the three flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with anomaly. We implement a temperature (density) dependence of the anomaly coefficient motivated by lattice results for the topological susceptibility and we discuss the restoration of symmetries by analyzing the behavior of the mesonic chiral partners and of the mixing angles. The results indicate that the axial part of the symmetry is restored before the possible restoration of the full U(3)$\otimes$U(…
We explore the phase diagram and the modification of mesonic observables in a hot and dense medium using the (2+1) Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. We present the phase diagram in the ($T,\,μ_B$)-plane, with its isentropic trajectories, paying special attention to the chiral critical end point (CEP). Chiral and deconfinement transitions are examined. The modifications of mesonic observables in the medium are explored as a tool to analyze the effective restoration of chiral symmetry for different regions of the phase diagram. It is shown that the meson masses, namely that of the kaons, change…
We describe Scalar-Pseudoscalar partner degeneration at the QCD chiral transition in terms of the dominant low-energy physical states for the light quark sector. First, we obtain within model-independent one-loop Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) that the QCD pseudoscalar susceptibility is proportional to the quark condensate at low $T$. Next, we show that this chiral-restoring behaviour for $χ_P$ is compatible with recent lattice results for screening masses and gives rise to degeneration between the scalar and pseudoscalar susceptibilities ($χ_S$, $χ_P$) around the transition point, consiste…
We investigate the effect of composite pions on the behaviour of the chiral condensate at finite temperature within the Polyakov-loop improved NJL model. To this end we treat quark-antiquark correlations in the pion channel (bound states and scattering continuum) within a Beth-Uhlenbeck approach that uses medium-dependent phase shifts. A striking medium effect is the Mott transition which occurs when the binding energy vanishes and the discrete pion bound state merges the continuum. This transition is triggered by the lowering of the continuum edge due to the chiral restoration transition. Thi…
We explore patterns of effective restoration of the chiral U$_A$(1) symmetry using an extended three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model that incorporates explicitly the axial anomaly through the 't Hooft interaction, and assuming that the coefficient of the anomaly term is temperature and density dependent. The special case of explicit breaking of chiral symmetry without U$_A$(1) anomaly is also considered, since this scenario can provide additional information allowing to understand the interplay between the U$_A$(1) anomaly and (spontaneous) chiral symmetry breaking effects. The pseudoscalar an…
We derive the formal Ward identities relating pseudoscalar susceptibilities and quark condensates in three-flavor QCD, including consistently the $η$-$η'$ sector and the $U_A(1)$ anomaly. These identities are verified in the low-energy realization provided by ChPT, both in the standard $SU(3)$ framework for the octet case and combining the use of the $U(3)$ framework and the large-$N_c$ expansion of QCD to account properly for the nonet sector and anomalous contributions. The analysis is performed including finite temperature corrections as well as the calculation of $U(3)$ quark condensates a…
In this paper the spectrum of quark-antiquark systems, including light mesons and tachyons, is studied in the true vacuum and in the chiral invariant vacuum. The mass gap equation for the vacua and the Salpeter-RPA equation for the mesons are solved for a simple chiral invariant and confining quark model. At T=0 and in the true vacuum, the scalar and pseudoscalar, or the vector and axial vector are not degenerate, and in the chiral limit, the pseudoscalar groundstates are Goldstone bosons. At T=0 the chiral invariant vacuum is an unstable vacuum, decaying through an infinite number of scalar a…
Recent consensus on the $N_f=2+1$ equation of state at vanishing chemical potential from different lattice-QCD groups has spoiled the previous agreement with the outcome from the mean-field Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. In this letter we review the thermodynamics of the PNJL model introducing two important aspects needed to describe the pressure computed in the lattice QCD. First, we consider the thermodynamics of the model beyond the mean-field approach to include pseudoscalar and scalar mesonic-like fluctuations into the grand-canonical potential. This accounts for the hadronic pressure…

Various thermodynamic quantities and the phase diagram of strongly interacting hot and dense magnetized quark matter are obtained with the $ 2 $-flavour Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with Polyakov loop considering finite values of the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks. Susceptibilities associated with constituent quark mass and traced Polyakov loop are used to evaluate chiral and deconfinement transition temperatures. It is found that, inclusion of the AMM of the quarks in presence of the background magnetic field results in a substantial decrease in the chiral as well as deconfinement …
The meson masses and mixing angles have been calculated for the scalar and pseudoscalar sector in the framework of the generalized 2+1 flavor Polyakov loop augmented quark meson linear sigma model. We have given the results for two different forms of the effective Polyakov loop potential. The comparison of results with the existing calculations in the bare 2+1 quark meson linear sigma model, shows that the restoration of chiral symmetry becomes sharper due to the influence of the Polyakov loop potential. We find that inclusion of the Polyakov loop in quark meson linear sigma model together wit…
We estimate the axion properties i.e. its mass, topological susceptibility and the self-coupling within the framework of Polyakov loop enhanced Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model at finite temperature and quark chemical potential. PNJL model, where quarks couple simultaneously to the chiral condensate and to a background temporal quantum chromodynamics (QCD) gauge field, includes two important features of QCD phase transition, i.e. deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration. The Polyakov loop in PNJL model plays an important role near the critical temperature. We have shown significant differe…
We analyze the restoration pattern of the members of the scalar and pseudoscalar meson nonets under chiral $O(4)$ and $U(1)_A$ symmetries. For that purpose, we exploit QCD Ward Identities (WI), which allow one to relate susceptibilities with quark condensates, as well as susceptibility differences with meson vertices. In addition, we consider the low-energy realization of QCD provided by $U(3)$ Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) at finite temperature to perform a full analysis of the different correlators involved. Our analysis suggests $U(1)_A$ partner restoration if chiral symmetry partners a…
We study the phase diagram of the three flavor Polyakov-Nambu-Jona Lasinio (PNJL) model and in particular the interplay between chiral symmetry restoration and deconfinement crossover. We compute chiral condensates, quark densities and the Polyakov loop at several values of temperature and chemical potential. Moreover we investigate on the role of the Polyakov loop dynamics in the transition from nuclear matter to quark matter.
The effect of quark anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) to chiral restoration and deconfinement phase transitions under magnetic fields is investigated in a Pauli-Villars regularized PNJL model. A linear-in-$B$ term for quark anomalous magnetic moment is introduced to the Lagrangian density of our model, and it plays the role of inverse catalysis to the phase transitions. With fixed magnetic field, the critical temperature decreases with quark AMM. When fixing quark AMM, the critical temperature increases with magnetic field for a small quark AMM, but decreases with magnetic field for a large quar…
We study the quark mass function on hypercubic lattices, in a large range of physical volumes and cutoffs. To avoid the very large Wilson term artefact, we exploit the relation between the quark mass function and the pseudoscalar vertex in the continuum. We extrapolate to the chiral limit. In function of the physical volume, we observe a striking discontinuity in the properties of chiral extrapolation around a physical volume $L_c 6 (GeV}^{-1}=1.2 fm$. It is present in the quark mass function, which collapses to zero, as well as in the pion mass and the quark condensate as directly calculated …
We discuss recent advances on QCD chiral symmetry restoration at finite temperature, within the theoretical framework of Effective Theories. $U(3)$ Ward Identities are derived between pseudoscalar susceptibilities and quark condensates, allowing to explain the behaviour of lattice meson screening masses. Unitarized interactions and the generated $f_0(500)$ thermal state are showed to play an essential role in the description of the transition through the scalar susceptibility
We are computing the modifications for the scalar and pseudoscalar meson masses and mixing angles due to the proper accounting of fermionic vacuum fluctuation in the framework of the generalized 2+1 flavor quark meson model and the Polyakov loop augmented quark meson model(PQM). The renormalized contribution of the divergent fermionic vacuum fluctuation at one loop level makes these models effective QCD-like models. It has been explicitly shown that analytical expressions for the model parameters, meson masses, and mixing angles do not depend on any arbitrary renormalization scale. We have inv…
QCD thermodynamics is studied using a model which combines Polyakov loop dynamics with spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and its restoration (the PNJL model). The input is fixed entirely by pure-gauge lattice QCD results and by pion properties in vacuum. Successful comparisons with results from thermal lattice QCD are achieved, including extrapolations to finite quark chemical potential. The phase diagram and selected susceptibilities for two quark flavors are investigated with inclusion of diquark degrees of freedom.
Taking into account pseudoscalar as well as scalar condensates, we reexamine the chiral restoration path on the chiral manifold. We shall see both condensates coherently produce a density wave at a certain density, which delays chiral restoration as density or temperature is increased.
We give a theoretical framework to obtain a low-energy effective theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) towards a first-principle derivation of confinement/deconfinement and chiral-symmetry breaking/restoration crossover transitions. In fact, we demonstrate that an effective theory obtained using simple but non-trivial approximations within this framework enables us to treat both transitions simultaneously on equal footing. A resulting effective theory is regarded as a modified and improved version of nonlocal Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (nonlocal PNJL) models proposed recently b…
Within the three-flavor PNJL and EPNJL chiral quark models we have obtained pseudoscalar meson properties in quark matter at finite temperature $T$ and baryochemical potential $μ_B$. We compare the meson pole (Breit-Wigner) approximation with the Beth-Uhlenbeck (BU) approach that takes into account the continuum of quark-antiquark scattering states when determining the partial densities of pions and kaons. We evaluate the kaon-to-pion ratios along the (pseudo-)critical line in the $T-μ_B$ plane as a proxy for the chemical freezeout line, whereby the variable $x=T/μ_B$ is introduced that corres…
Recent work on QCD-like theories has shown that the addition of adjoint fermions obeying periodic boundary conditions to gauge theories on $R^{3}\times S^{1}$ can lead to a restoration of center symmetry and confinement for sufficiently small circumference $L$ of $S^{1}$. At small $L$, perturbation theory may be used reliably to compute the effective potential for the Polyakov loop $P$ in the compact direction. Periodic adjoint fermions act in opposition to the gauge fields, which by themselves would lead to a deconfined phase at small $L$. In order for the fermionic effects to dominate gauge …

We present and analyze a new set of Ward Identities which shed light on the distinction between different patterns of chiral symmetry restoration in QCD, namely $O(4)$ vs $O(4)\times U(1)_A$. The degeneracy of chiral partners for all scalar and pseudoscalar meson nonet members are studied through their corresponding correlators. Around chiral symmetry degeneration of $O(4)$ partners, our analysis predicts that $U(1)_A$ partners are also degenerated. Our analysis also leads to $I=1/2$ scalar-pseudoscalar partner degeneration at exact chiral restoration, and supports ideal mixing between the $η$…
The effective quark models with quasilocal interaction are used for description of two composite Higgs doublets, in strong coupling (tricritical) regime below the compositeness scale Λ_{C}. The low energy effective action of Two-Higgs Doublet Standard Model (2HD SM) is obtained in the large N_c and large-log approximation. The two-point correlators of scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs fields are derived for investigation of how the chiral symmetry is broken. The comparison of their asymptotics at high energies allows to realize the chiral symmetry restoration characteristic for the QCD-like models…
The effective restoration of chiral and axial symmetries is investigated within the framework of the SU(3) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The topological susceptibility, modeled from lattice data at finite temperature, is used to extract the temperature dependence of the coupling strength of the anomaly. The study of the scalar and pseudoscalar mixing angles is performed in order to discuss the evolution of the flavor combinations of $q \bar q$ pairs and its consequences for the degeneracy of chiral partners. A similar study at zero temperature and finite density is also realized.
The temperature dependence of the mass, leptonic decay constant, and width of heavy-light quark peseudoscalar and vector mesons is obtained in the framework of thermal Hilbert moment QCD sum rules. The leptonic decay constants of both pseudoscalar and vector mesons decrease with increasing $T$, and vanish at a critical temperature $T_c$, while the mesons develop a width which increases dramatically and diverges at $T_c$, where $T_c$ is the temperature for chiral-symmetry restoration. These results indicate the disappearance of hadrons from the spectral function, which then becomes a smooth fun…
We extend the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model by introducing an effective four-quark vertex depending on Polyakov loop. The effective vertex generates entanglement interactions between Polyakov loop and chiral condensate. The new model is consistent with lattice QCD data at imaginary quark-number chemical potential and real and imaginary isospin chemical potentials, particularly on strong correlation between the chiral and deconfinement transitions and also on the quark-mass dependence of the order of the Roberge-Weiss endpoint predicted by lattice QCD very lately. We in…
The behavior of neutral pseudoscalar mesons $π^0, η$ and $η'$ in hot and dense matter is investigated, in the framework of the three flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. Three different scenarios are considered: zero density and finite temperature, zero temperature and finite density in a flavor asymmetric medium with and without strange valence quarks, and finite temperature and density. The behavior of mesons is analyzed in connection with possible signatures of restoration of symmetries. In the high density region and at zero temperature it is found that the mass of the $η'$ increases, the devi…
We discuss the in-medium mass of the eta-prime meson under partial restoration of chiral symmetry. The chiral SU(3)\otimes SU(3) symmetry tells us the flavor singlet pseudoscalar meson eta-prime should degenerate with the octet $η$ meson in the SU(3) flavor limit, when chiral symmetry is restored in spite of U(1)A anomaly in the flavor single axial current. The suppression of the anomaly effect induces an order of 100 MeV reduction for the eta-prime mass at the saturation density without introducing a large absorption width. We show the formation spectrum of the eta-prime mesonic bound state i…
We explore the effects of breaking and restoration of chiral and axial symmetries using an extended three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model that incorporates explicitly the axial anomaly through the 't Hooft interaction. We implement a temperature (density) dependence of the anomaly coefficient motivated by lattice results for the topological susceptibility. The spectrum of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons is analyzed bearing in mind the identification of chiral partners and the study of its convergence. We also concentrate on the behavior of the mixing angles that give us relevant information on …
A nonlocal chiral quark model is consistently extended beyond mean field using a strict 1/Nc expansion scheme. The parameters of the nonlocal model are refitted so that the physical values of the pion mass and the weak pion decay constant are obtained. The size of the 1/Nc correction to the quark condensate is carefully studied and compared with the usual local Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. It is found that even the sign of the corrections can be different. This can be attributed to the mesonic cut-off of the local model. The model is also applied to finite temperature. We find that the 1/Nc corre…
We study the finite temperature behavior of light scalar and pseudoscalar meson properties in the context of a three-flavor nonlocal chiral quark model. The model includes mixing with active strangeness degrees of freedom, and takes care of the effect of gauge interactions by coupling the quarks with the Polyakov loop. We analyze the chiral restoration and deconfinement transitions, as well as the temperature dependence of meson masses, mixing angles and decay constants. The critical temperature is found to be T_c = 202 MeV, in better agreement with lattice results than the value recently obta…
Phase transitions in hot and dense matter and the in--medium behavior of pseudoscalar mesons ($π^{\pm}, π^0, K^{\pm}, K^0 ,\bar K^0,η{and} η' $) are investigated, in the framework of the three flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model, including the 't Hooft interaction, which breaks the $U_A(1)$ symmetry. Three different scenarios are considered: zero density and finite temperature, zero temperature and finite density in quark matter with different degrees of strangeness, and finite temperature and density. At T=0, the role of strange valence quarks in the medium is discussed, in connection with the p…

A quark-meson-diquark plasma is considered within the PNJL model for dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and restoration in quark matter. Based on a generalized Beth-Uhlenbeck approach to mesons and diquarks we present the thermodynamics of this system including the Mott dissociation of mesons and diquarks at finite temperature. A striking result is the suppression of the diquark abundance below the chiral restoration temperature by the coupling to the Polyakov loop, because of their color degree of freedom. This is understood in close analogy to the suppression of quark distributions by the sa…
We investigate three-colour QCD thermodynamics at finite quark chemical potential. Lattice QCD results are compared with a generalized Nambu Jona-Lasinio model in which quarks couple simultaneously to the chiral condensate and to a background temporal gauge field representing Polyakov loop dynamics. This so-called PNJL model thus includes features of both deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration. The parameters of the Polyakov loop effective potential are fixed in the pure gauge sector. The chiral condensate and the Polyakov loop as functions of temperature and quark chemical potential ar…
We present extensive studies on hot and dense quark matter with two light and one heavy flavors in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with the Polyakov loop (so-called PNJL model). First we discuss prescription dependence in choosing the Polyakov loop effective potential and propose a simple and rather sensible ansatz. We look over quantitative comparison to the lattice measurement to confirm that the model captures thermodynamic properties correctly. We then analyze the phase structure with changing the temperature, quark chemical potential, quark masses, and coupling constants. We particularly in…
We consider the parity doublet structure observed in high hadronic excitations within the instanton model for the QCD vacuum. In the conventional approach this doubling phenomenon is treated as a manifestation of the partial restoration of chiral or $U(1)_A$ symmetry. We demonstrate that the suppression of direct instanton contribution to the masses of excited hadrons leads to the partial $U(1)_A$ symmetry restoration in hadron spectrum. The origin of X(1835) resonance observed by BES Collaboration is studied upon the doublet structure. We argue also how X(1835) be interpreted as the lowest ps…
The effect of quark anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) to chiral restoration and deconfinement phase transitions in baryon chemical potential-temperature $(μ_B-T)$ plane under magnetic fields is investigated in frame of a Pauli-Villars regularized PNJL model. It's found that the quark AMM plays the role of inverse catalysis to the phase transitions, and large quark AMM will change the magnetic catalysis phenomena of phase transitions to inverse magnetic catalysis in the whole $μ_B-T$ plane. For a fixed magnetic field, the critical temperature $T_c$ and critical baryon chemical potential $μ_B^c$ d…
We use recently derived Ward identities and lattice data for the light- and strange-quark condensates to reconstruct the scalar and pseudoscalar susceptibilities ($χ_S^κ$, $χ_P^K$) in the isospin 1/2 channel. We show that $χ_S^κ$ develops a maximum above the QCD chiral transition, after which it degenerates with $χ_P^K$. We also obtain $χ_S^κ$ within Unitarized Chiral Perturbation Theory (UChPT) at finite temperature, when it is saturated with the $K_0^*(700)$ (or $κ$) meson, the dominant lowest-energy state in the isospin 1/2 scalar channel of $πK$ scattering. Such UChPT result reproduces the…
We consider the dynamics of the scalar and pseudoscalar glueballs in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). By using the instanton model for the QCD vacuum we give the arguments that the nonperturbative gluon-gluon interaction is qualitatively different in the confinement and deconfinement phases. Based on this observation it is shown that above $T_c$ the values of the scalar and pseudoscalar glueball masses might be very small. The estimation of the temperature of scale invariance restoration, at which the scalar glueball becomes massless, is given. We also discuss the Bose-Einstein condensation of th…
Spectral functions of the pseudoscalar $D$ meson in the nuclear medium are analyzed using QCD sum rules and the maximum entropy method. This approach enables us to extract the spectral functions without any phenomenological assumption, and thus to visualize in-medium modification of the spectral functions directly. It is found that the reduction of the chiral condensates of dimension 3 and 5 causes the masses of both $D^+$ and $D^-$ mesons to grow gradually at finite density. Additionally, we construct charge-conjugate-projected sum rules and find a $D^+$-$D^-$ mass splitting of about -15 MeV …
We investigated the chiral symmetry and U_A(1) anomaly at finite temperature by applying the functional renormalization group to the SU(3) linear sigma model. Expanding the local potential around the classical fields, we derived the flow equations for the renormalization parameters. In chiral limit, the flow equation for the chiral condensate is decoupled from the others and can be analytically solved. The Goldstone theorem is guaranteed in vacuum and at finite temperature, and the two phase transitions for the chiral and U_A(1) symmetry restoration happen at the same critical temperature. In …
