After reviewing the simplest picture where flavor effects are neglected and only the lightest right-handed neutrino contributes to the generation of asymmetry, we discuss in detail the importance of flavor effects, the possible relevance of quantum effects, as well as the role played by the heavier right-handed neutrinos.

We investigate what would be the consequences for leptogenesis of the existence of a charged SU(2)_L singlet scalar delta^+. If such a scalar particle exists, it allows the right-handed neutrinos to couple not only to left-handed lepton and Higgs doublets as in ordinary leptogenesis, but also to a right-handed charged lepton and a delta^+. This provides a new source of leptogenesis which can be successful in a non-resonant way at scales as low as TeV. The incorporation of this scenario in left-right symmetric and unified models is discussed.

We discuss the relation between leptogenesis and the MNS phases in the class of see-saw models called light sequential dominance in which the right-handed neutrinos dominate sequentially, with the dominant right-handed neutrino being the lightest one. Assuming the Dirac-type neutrino masses m_D are related to quark or charged lepton masses, neutrino oscillation data indicate that right handed neutrino masses are in general strongly hierarchical. In particular, if m_D is similar to the up-type quark masses, the mass of the lightest right handed neutrino M_1<~10^6 GeV. We show that non-thermal leptogenesis by inflaton decay can yield sufficient baryon asymmetry despite this constraint, and discuss how the asymmetry is correlated with the low energy neutrino masses and CP-violating phases.
Upper bounds on the CP asymmetry relevant for leptogenesis are reexamined and found weaker than in previous literature, both for hierarchical and for quasi-degenerate right-handed neutrinos. We prove that taking correctly into account the lepton flavour dependence of the CP asymmetries and washout processes, it is possible to obtain successful thermal leptogenesis from the decays of the second right-handed neutrino. The asymmetries in the muon and tau-flavour channels are then not erased by the inverse decays of the lightest right-handed neutrino, N_1. In this way, we reopen the possibility of ``thermal leptogenesis'' in models with a strong hierarchy in the right-handed Majorana masses that is typically the case in models with up-quark--neutrino Yukawa unification.

In this work, we explore soft leptogenesis in the NMSSM framework extended by a right-handed neutrino superfield. We calculate the CP asymmetry, $\varepsilon$, and find it to be non-zero at tree-level without using thermal effects for the final state particles. In the first half, we discuss several leptogenesis mechanisms by the decay of heavy right-handed neutrino, which include the standard thermal leptogenesis, leptogenesis via inflaton decay, and leptogenesis from the coherent oscillation of the right-handed sneutrino. We construct an explicit model implementing electromagnetic leptogenesis. In a simple extension of the Standard Model, a discrete symmetry forbids the usual decays of the right-handed neutrinos, while allowing for an effective coupling between the left-handed and right-handed neutrinos through the electromagnetic dipole moment. A leptogenesis scenario in a supersymmetric standard model extended with introducing right-handed neutrinos is reconsidered. Lepton asymmetry is produced in the condensate of a right-handed sneutrino via the Affleck-Dine mechanism. The LH_u direction develops large value due to a negative effective mass induced by the right-handed sneutrino condensate through the Yukawa coupling of the right-handed neutrino, even if the minimum during the inflation is fixed at the origin. The lepton asymmetry is nonperturbatively transfered to the LH_u direction by this Yukawa coupling.

We present a supersymmetric model of leptogenesis in which the right-handed neutrinos have weak scale masses and O(10-2-10-3) yukawa couplings. The model employs an R-symmetry at the weak scale that forces neutrino masses to be proportional to the gravitino mass. We predict that the lightest right-handed neutrino decays to a displaced Higgs and neutrino and that the NLSP is long-lived on collider scales. We study the evolution of a cosmological baryon asymmetry in leptogenesis when the right-handed neutrinos are produced in inflaton decays. By performing a detailed numerical study over a broad range of inflaton-neutrino couplings we show that the resulting asymmetry can be larger by two orders of magnitude or more than in thermal leptogenesis, if the reheating temperature T_{RH} is of the same order as the right-handed neutrino mass M_1. Hence, the lower limit on the baryogenesis temperature obtained in thermal leptogenesis can be relaxed accordingly.

Its scalar component grows during the inflation due to the quantum fluctuation, oscillates coherently after the inflation, and its decay generates lepton asymmetry. We study thermal leptogenesis in classes of neutrino mass models based on the seesaw mechanism with three right-handed neutrinos and sequential right-handed neutrino dominance. Baryon and lepton numbers of the Universe in leptogenesis with Dirac neutrino and leptogenesis with Majorana neutrino scenarios are considered. It is shown that despite quite different features of Dirac and Majorana fermions both scenarios yield the same relation among the initial lepton and the final baryon asymmetries. Moreover right-handed neutrinos in the leptogenesis with Dirac neutrino scenario have very little impact on the effective number of relativistic degrees of freedom, constrained by BBN. We study soft leptogenesis in gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models with an enhanced A-term for the right-handed neutrino. We find that this scenario can explain the baryon asymmetry of the present universe, consistently with the gravitino dark matter for a wide range of gravitino mass m_{3/2}=O(MeV)-O(GeV). We also propose an explicit model which induces the necessary A-term for the right-handed neutrino.
We calculate flavour dependent lepton asymmetries within the $E_6$ inspired Supersymmetric Standard Model ($\rm E_6SSM$), which has an extra $U(1)_N$ symmetry. In this model, the right-handed neutrino doesn't participate in gauge interactions, allowing it to be used for both the see--saw mechanism and leptogenesis. Extra Higgs, leptons and leptoquarks predicted by the E$_6$SSM contribute to the ordinary lepton CP asymmetries induced by the decays of the lightest right--handed neutrino (and sneutrino) and give rise to a set of extra decay asymmetries. We implement soft leptogenesis in a warped five dimensional scenario with two branes on the orbifold boundaries coming from an S^{1}/Z_{2} symmetry, and supersymmetry broken on the IR brane. The SM hypermultiplet fields (fermions and Higgs) live in the UV brane and we allow the vector supermultiplets corresponding to the gauge bosons and a hypermultiplet corresponding to the right handed neutrino to live in the bulk. In this short review I discuss how high energy (type I) seesaw models can be nicely embedded within grand-unified models and reproduce the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry with leptogenesis. We propose a scenario of thermal leptogenesis at the TeV scale in the context of an extension of the Standard Model with 4 generations. We also add one right-handed Majorana neutrino for each generation to generate left handed neutrino masses via see-saw.
