We undertake a phenomenological study of the extra neutral Z' boson in the Minimal Quiver Standard Model and discuss limits on the model's parameters from previous precision electroweak experiments, as well as detection prospects at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. We find that masses lower than around 700 GeV are excluded by the $Z$-pole data from the CERN-LEP collider, and below 620 GeV by experimental data from di-electron events at the Fermilab-Tevatron collider. We also find that at a mass of 1 TeV the LHC cross section would show a small peak in the di-lepton and top pair channel.
We address the question of the possible existence of massive gauge bosons beyond the $W^{\pm}$ and $Z^{0}$ of the standard model. Our intuitive and aesthetic approach is based on quiver theory. Examples thereof arise, for example, from compactification of the type IIB superstring on $AdS_5 \times S_5/ Z_n$ orbifolds. We explore the quiver theory framework more generally than string theory. The practical question is what gauge bosons to look for at the upgraded LHC, in terms of color and electric charge, and of their couplings to quarks and leptons. Axigluons and bileptons are favored.
This paper discusses the minimal quiver gauge theory embedding of the standard model that could arise from brane world type string theory constructions. It is based on the low energy effective field theory of D-branes in the perturbative regime. The model differs from the standard model by the addition of one extra massive gauge boson, and contains only one additional parameter to the standard model: the mass of this new particle. The coupling of this new particle to the standard model is uniquely determined by input from the standard model and consistency conditions of perturbative string the…
The prospects of detecting neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric model via their decays into muon pairs at the LHC are investigated. The CMS detector performance is adopted for a realistic study of observability. It is found that the muon pair decay mode might provide a very promising channel to search for the neutral Higgs bosons of minimal supersymmetry. This channel will allow precise mass reconstruction for neutral Higgs bosons.
The prospects for discovering neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) and in the minimal supergravity model at the LHC are investigated. Two special discovery channels are discussed: (i) the decay mode of the MSSM CP-odd Higgs boson into photon pairs, and (ii) the decays of neutral Higgs bosons into muon pairs in the MSSM as well as in the minimal supergravity model.
We compute masses, trilinear self-couplings and decay widths into weak bosons of the scalar composite bosons in the case of the Minimal and Ultraminimal technicolor models. The masses, computed via the Bethe-Salpeter equation, turn out to be light and the trilinear couplings smaller than the one that would be expected when compared to a fundamental Standard Model scalar boson with the same mass. The decay widths into electroweak bosons of the Ultraminimal model scalars bosons are much smaller than the one of the Minimal model.
We study the phenomenology of the neutral Higgs sector of a non-SUSY non-minimal Standard Model. Models with more than one Higgs doublet are possible, and may contain neutral Higgs scalars with branching ratios significantly different to those of the Minimal Standard Model Higgs boson. We show how these differences may be exploited at LEP2 in order to distinguish the non-minimal Standard Model from the minimal version.
We derive analytic formulas for the radiatively corrected mass of the scalar Higgs boson in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Since the scalar-top-quark mass in our analysis include terms proportional to the gauge couplings in the 1-loop effective potential, the radiatively corrected mass of the scalar Higgs boson partially contains the gauge boson contributions. At the 1-loop level, the upper bound on the lighter scalar Higgs boson mass can be increased about 20 GeV in favor of the partial contributions of the gauge bosons. Thus the improved absolute upper bou…
We investigate the conditions for alignment in Dirac Gaugino models with minimal matter content. This leads to several scenarios, including an aligned Dirac Gaugino NMSSM that allows a light singlet scalar. We then investigate the compatibility of minimal Dirac Gaugino models with an enhanced W boson mass, using a new precise computation of the quantum corrections included in the code SARAH 4.15.0.
The pairing interaction among identical nucleons in a single-particle level is treated in the hamiltonian formalism using even Grassmann variables. A minimal (irreducible) basis having a remarkable symmetry property is set up using composite, commuting variables with a finite index of nilpotency. Eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of given energy, seniority and zero third component of the angular momentum of the pairing hamiltonian are then found. The eigenvectors, which cannot be cast solely in terms of composite bosons with angular momentum zero and two, are expanded in the minimal basis with co…
We show that minimal boson stars, i.e. boson stars made out of scalar fields without self-interaction, are always classically unstable in 5 space-time dimensions. This is true for the non-rotating as well as rotating case with two equal angular momenta and in both Einstein and Gauss-Bonnet gravity, respectively, and contrasts with the 4-dimensional case, where classically stable minimal boson stars exist. We also discuss the appearance of ergoregions for rotating boson stars with two equal angular momenta. While rotating black holes typically possess an ergoregion, rotating compact objects wit…
We study the production of the heavy W' and Z' bosons in the three site higgsless model at the LHC. We focus on the s-channel production mode to estimate the prospects for measuring their suppressed couplings to standard model fermions.
We discuss the upper bound on the lightest CP-even Higgs boson mass in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model within the framework of a low energy renormalisation group analysis. We find $m_h$ < 146 GeV for $m_t$ = 90 GeV, decreasing to $m_h$ < 123 GeV for $m_t$ = 180 GeV.
We study the fermionic couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons in the THDM, assuming a four-texture structure for the Yukawa matrices. We then derive the low-energy constraints on the model, focusing in b-quark and lepton physics, and apply them to study Higgs boson detection at future colliders.
The discovery potential of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC for Higgs bosons of the MSSM is discussed. Several CP conserving and one CP violating benchmark scenario are investigated.
We study the question of distinguishability of the Higgs sector between the standard model with four generations(SM4) and the minimal supersymmetric standard model with four generations (MSSM4). We find that a gap exists between the SM4 and MSSM4 Higgs boson masses for a range of the fourth generation fermion mass considered in the analysis at a fixed top quark mass. We also compare the Higgs boson mass bounds in these models with those in the standard and the minimal supersymmetric standard models.
The prospects at the CERN LHC are investigated for the discovery via decays into muon pairs of neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supergravity model. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons at large $\tanβ\equiv v_2/v_1$. For $\tanβ\agt 10$ and 100 GeV $\alt m_A,m_H \alt$ 550 GeV, the $A^0$ and the $H^0$ masses could be precisely reconstructed from the dimuon invariant mass.
An upperbound on the mass of the lightest neutral scalar Higgs boson is calculated in an extended version of the minimal supersymmetric standard model that contains an additional Higgs singlet. We integrate the renormalization group equations of the model, and impose low energy boundary conditions consistent with present experimental results, and ultra-violet conditions following from triviality. Radiative corrections induced by a large top quark Yukawa coupling are included in our analysis, and we find the allowed values for the mass of the Higgs boson as a function of the mass of the top qua…
The purpose of this paper is to present a complete and consistent list of the Feynman rules for the vertices of neutralinos and Higgs bosons in the Next-To-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM), which does not yet exist in the literature. The Feynman rules are derived from the full expression for the Lagrangian and the mass matrices of the neutralinos and Higgs bosons in the NMSSM. Some crucial differences between the vertex functions of the NMSSM and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) are discussed.
ATLAS and CMS report indications of a Higgs boson at M_h 125 GeV. In addition, CMS data show a tenuous bump in the ZZ channel, at about 320 GeV. We make the bold assumption that it might be the indication of a secondary line corresponding to the heaviest scalar Higgs boson of Minimal Supersymmetry, H, and discuss the viability of this hypothesis. We discuss also the case of a heavier H, the relevance of the b bbar decay channel is underlined.
We construct the non-linear realized Lagrangian for the Goldstone Bosons associated to the breaking pattern of SU(4) to SO(4). This pattern is expected to occur in any Technicolor extension of the standard model featuring two Dirac fermions transforming according to real representations of the underlying gauge group. We concentrate on the Minimal Walking Technicolor quantum number assignments with respect to the standard model symmetries. We demonstrate that for, any choice of the quantum numbers, consistent with gauge and Witten anomalies the spectrum of the pseudo Goldstone Bosons contains e…
The phenomenology of neutral Higgs bosons from non--SUSY, extended Higgs sectors is studied in the context of the LHC, with particular attention given to the case of a fermiophobic Higgs. It is found that enhanced branching ratios to $γγ$ and $τ^+τ^-$ are possible and can provide clear signatures, while detection of a fermiophobic Higgs will be problematic beyond a mass of 130 GeV.
The upper bound on the mass of the light CP-even Higgs boson of the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) depends on the supersymmetric particle spectrum via radiative loop effects. At present, complete one-loop results and partial two-loop results are known. Some simple analytic approximations have been obtained which are quite accurate over a large portion of the MSSM parameter space. Based on these results, I examine how accurately one can predict the upper bound on the mass of the lightest MSSM Higgs boson.
We analyse the effect of the non-minimal coupling of the form $ξϕ^2R/2$ on the single field inflation. If the non-minimal coupling is large, it relaxes the constraint on the field self coupling, making it possible to use the Standard Model Higgs field as the inflaton. At the same time, even small non-minimal coupling constant, $ξ\gtrsim10^{-3}$, brings the usual inflaton with quartic potential in agreement with the WMAP5 observations.
A short presentation of the results of the analytical evaluation of the O(α_s^2) QCD contributions in the fermionic decay rates of the neutral CP-odd minimal supersymmetric Higgs particle is made. The corrections due to the nonvanishing quark masses are included. The results are presented both in terms of running and pole quark masses.
We calculate the supersymmetric QCD corrections in order $α_s$ to the the widths of the Higgs boson decays $H^+ \to \st \bar\sb$ and $H^0, A^0 \to \st \bar\st, \sb \bar\sb$ in the on--shell scheme within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We find that the QCD corrections are significant, but that the squark pair decay modes are still dominant in a wide parameter region.
We consider a model with gauged $L_μ- L_τ$ symmetry in which the symmetry is spontaneously broken by a scalar field. The decay of the scalar boson into two new gauge bosons is studied as a direct consequence of the spontaneous symmetry breaking. Then, a possibility of searches for the gauge and scalar bosons through such a decay at the LHC experiment is discussed. We consider the case that the mass range of the gauge boson is $\mathcal{O}(10)$ GeV, which is motivated by anomalies reported by LHCb. We will show that the signal significance of the searches for the gauge boson and scalar boson re…
We analyze the possibility of detecting one of the three scalar Higgs bosons in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric model at the future $e^+e^-$ linear collider, by examining their productions via the Higgsstrahlung process. The production cross sections of the three scalar Higgs bosons in $e^+e^-$ collisions are evaluated for the proposed c.m. energies of the future $e^+e^-$ colliders, for the whole space of relevant parameters. We find that at least one of the three production cross sections is not smaller than 16 fb, 4 fb, and 1 fb for ${\sqrt s} = 500$ GeV, 1000 GeV, and 2000 GeV, respectiv…
We demonstrate that supersymmetric decay modes of the neutral Higgs bosons of the MSSM could well make their detection extremely difficult when produced singly in $\gam\gam$ collisions at a back-scattered laser beam facility.
In the composite Higgs models, originally proposed by Georgi and Kaplan, the Higgs boson is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) of spontaneous breaking of a global symmetry. In the minimal version of such models, global SO(5) symmetry is spontaneously broken to SO(4), and the pNGBs form an isospin doublet field, which corresponds to the Higgs doublet in the Standard Model (SM). Predicted coupling constants of the Higgs boson can in general deviate from the SM predictions, depending on the compositeness parameter. The deviation pattern is determined also by the detail of the matter sector. We…
In this letter we show that there is a unique non-minimal derivative coupling of the Standard Model Higgs boson to gravity such that: it propagates no more degrees of freedom than General Relativity sourced by a scalar field, reproduces a successful inflating background within the Standard Model Higgs parameters and, finally, does not suffer from dangerous quantum corrections.
In the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM), the upper limit of the lightest Higgs boson mass, $\mhl$, depends strongly on the top quark mass, $m_t$. We have computed the dominant two-loop radiative corrections to this upper limit of $\mhl$ in order to eliminate large uncertainties due to QCD and $m_t^6$ corrections. It is shown that the QCD corrections significantly reduce the one-loop corrections. As a result, the SUSY parameter space accessible to LEP experiments is significantly increased.
After the discovery of the Higgs boson with mass at approximately 125 $GeV$ at the LHC, many studies both from the theoretical and experimental sides have been performed to search for a new Higgs Boson lighter than the 125 $GeV$ Higgs boson. We explore the possibility of constraining a lighter neutral scalar Higgs boson $h_{1}$ and a lighter pseudo-scalar Higgs boson $a_{1}$ in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model by restricting the next-to-lightest scalar Higgs boson $h_{2}$ to be the LHC observed Higgs boson after the phenomenological constraints and the constraints from experim…
We present a complete calculation of the singly and doubly charged gauge bosons (bileptons) contribution to the static properties of the W boson in the framework of the minimal 331 model, which accommodates the bileptons in an SU_L(2) doublet. A nonlinear R_ξgauge is used and a slightly modified version of the Passarino-Veltman reduction scheme is employed as in this case the Gram determinant vanishes. It is found that the bilepton contribution is of the same order of magnitude as those arising from other weakly coupled renormalizable theories, like the two-Higgs doublet model and supersymmetr…
In the absence of new physics around $10^{10}$ GeV, the electroweak vacuum is at best metastable. This represents a major challenge for high scale inflationary models as, during the early rapid expansion of the universe, it seems difficult to understand how the Higgs vacuum would not decay to the true lower vacuum of the theory with catastrophic consequences if inflation took place at a scale above $10^{10}$ GeV. In this paper we show that the non-minimal coupling of the Higgs boson to curvature could solve this problem by generating a direct coupling of the Higgs boson to the inflationary pot…
Gauge boson masses for a minimal $SU(4)_{EW} \otimes U(1)_{B-l}$ model]{Following the general procedure of spontaneous symmetry breaking of a $SU(4)_{EW} \otimes U(1)_{B-l}$ electroweak gauge group with left-right symmetry, we obtain the gauge boson masses and currents for the minimal version of the model. The physical eigenstates for neutral gauge bosons are determined by introducing two mixing angles $θ_4$ and $θ_3$ which are related to the electroweak mixing angle $θ_w$ at the unification scale. By introducing some physical approaches in order to simplify the calculations, we calculate the …
In the presence of non-minimal gravitational coupling $ ξH^\dagger H {\cal R}$ between the standard model (SM) Higgs doublet $H$ and the curvature scalar ${\cal R}$, the effective ultraviolet cutoff scale is given by $Λ_{\rm cut}\approx m_P/ξ$, where $m_P$ is the reduced Planck mass, and $ξ\gtrsim 1$ is a dimensionless coupling constant. In type I and type III seesaw extended SM, which can naturally explain the observed solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillations, we investigate the implications of this non-minimal gravitational coupling for the SM Higgs boson mass bounds based on vacuum stabi…
We calculate the production cross section of the ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson via gluon fusion in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with explicit CP violation in the stop sector. We show that there is a parameter region in which the cross section is enhanced by a factor of about 1000, as compared to the case without CP violation in the stop sector. In the parameter region where the ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson can decay into a stop pair, the stop pair events will be the important signature of the enhanced ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson. In the case where the ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson cannot decay into any su…
We consider the measurement of the trilinear couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model~(MSSM) at a high energy $e^+ e^-$ linear collider in the light of the discovery of a Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider~(LHC). We identify the state observed at the LHC with the lightest Higgs boson~($h^0$) of the MSSM, and impose the constraints following from this identification, as well as other experimental constraints on the MSSM parameter space. In order to measure trilinear neutral Higgs couplings, we consider different processes where the heavier Hi…
In the CMSSM the heaviest scalar and pseudo-scalar Higgs bosons decay largely into b-quarks and tau-leptons because of the large $\tanβ$ values favored by the relic density. In the NMSSM the number of possible decay modes is much richer. In addition to the CMSSM-like scenarios, the decay of the heavy Higgs bosons is preferentially into top quark pairs (if kinematically allowed), lighter Higgs bosons or neutralinos, leading to invisible decays. We provide a scan over the NMSSM parameter space to project the 6D parameter space of the Higgs sector on the 3D space of the Higgs masses to determine …
Within the context of an effective potential formalism we calculate the contribution to Higgs boson masses in the next--to--minimal supersymmetric standard model from squark loops. We then supplement a previously performed renormalisation group analysis of the Higgs sector of this model with these results in order to determine the shift in the bound on the lightest CP-even Higgs boson mass as a result of squark effects. The improved bound on the lightest neutral CP-even Higgs boson mass, including squark contributions, is $m_h \leq 146 \ \ (139, 149)$ GeV for $m_t = 90 \ \ (140, 190)$ GeV. For…
We comprehensively evaluate renormalized Higgs boson couplings at one-loop level in non-minimal Higgs models such as the Higgs Singlet Model (HSM) and the four types of Two Higgs Doublet Models (THDMs) with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry. The renormalization calculation is performed in the on-shell scheme improved by using the pinch technique to eliminate the gauge dependence in the renormalized couplings. We first review the pinch technique for scalar boson two-point functions in the Standard Model (SM), the HSM and the THDMs. We then discuss the difference in the results of the renormalized …
Motivated by the mu-problem and the axion solution to the strong CP-problem, we extend the MSSM with one more chiral singlet field $X_e$. The underlying PQ-symmetry allows only one more term $X_e H_u H_d$ in the superpotential. The spectrum of the Higgs system includes a light pseudoscalar $a_X$ (in addition to the standard CP-even Higgs boson), predominantly decaying to two photons: $a_X \to γγ$. Both Higgs bosons might be in the range accessible to current LHC experiments.
We demonstrate that expected efficiencies and purities for $b$-tagging at SSC/LHC detectors should allow detection of at least one of the Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric Model in $t\anti t$~Higgs production, with Higgs$\rta b\anti b$ decay, over a substantial range of supersymmetric parameter space. In particular, with the addition of this mode to those previously considered, there is no region of supersymmetric parameter space for which {\it none} of the Higgs bosons of the model can be seen at the SSC/LHC.
The 1-loop renormalization group equations for the minimal Z' models encompassing a type-I seesaw mechanism are studied in the light of the 125 GeV Higgs boson discovery. This model is taken as a benchmark for the general case of singlet extensions of the standard model. The most important result is that negative scalar mixing angles are favoured with respect to positive values. Further, a minimum value for the latter exists, as well as a maximum value for the masses of the heavy neutrinos, depending on the vacuum expectation value of the singlet scalar.
We investigate the associated production of neutral Higgs boson with squark pair in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with and without explicit CP violation, respectively. We show that the dominant productions in both cases are always ones of the lightest neutral Higgs boson associated with the lightest stop pair, which can reach a few pb, in the ranges of parameters allowed by constraints from the electric dipole moment experiments. In most of the parameter space, the total cross sections in the case with explicit CP violation are significantly enhanced, compared with ones without exp…
We present the full one-loop calculation for $gg \to ZZ$ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model (MSSM) including nonresonant contributions from the squark loop diagrams and provide analytical expressions for the helicity amplitudes. The one-loop process $gg \to ZZ$ via quark loops has been calculated in the Standard Model. In supersymmetric models, additional contributions arise from squark loops. In some regions of the MSSM parameter space, the top and bottom squark loops can make important contributions to the diagrams involving Higgs bosons. The heavy Higgs scalar (H) might be detected at the …
The prospects of detecting the CP-odd Higgs pseudoscalar ($A$) in the minimal supersymmetric model via its decay into a $Z$ boson and the lighter CP-even Higgs scalar ($h$) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are investigated. The final state of $Z \to l^+l^-$ and $h \to b\bar{b}$, may provide a promising way to simultaneously detect the $A$ and the $h$. The compact muon solenoid detector performance is adopted for a realistic study of observability. In this discovery channel, the masses of the $h$ and the $A$ can be reconstructed. The impact of supersymmetric decay modes is considered.
Recently, the LEP collaborations have reported a lower bound on a Standard Model-like Higgs boson of order 89 GeV. We discuss the implications of this bound for the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM). In particular, we show that the lower bound on $\tanβ$, which can be obtained from the presently allowed Higgs boson mass value, becomes stronger than the one set by the requirement of perturbative consistency of the theory up to scales of order $M_{GUT}$ (associated with the infrared fixed-point solution of the top quark Yukawa coupling) in a large fraction of the allo…
In this paper we present the mass matrices and mass eigenstates for the CP-even neutral scalars in the minimal 331 model (m331) and its self-interactions, showing that the m331 automatically reproduces the Higgs potential of the Standard Model. We also present a method to generate numerical solutions for the quarks and leptons masses and their mixings, which we apply to study FCNC processes, being to calculate the contributions of all exotic neutral particles of the m331 to the mass differences in meson oscillations.
We re-evaluate the decays of the Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) where the tree-level CP invariance of the Higgs potential is explicitly broken by the loop effects of the third-generation squarks with CP-violating soft-breaking Yukawa interactions. This study is based on the mass matrix of the neutral Higgs bosons that is valid for arbitrary values of all the relevant MSSM parameters. It extends the previous work considerably by including neutral Higgs-boson decays into virtual gauge bosons and those into top-squark pairs, by implementing squark-loop contributi…
We report results from searches for neutral Higgs bosons produced in p-pbar collisions recorded by the Dzero experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We study the production of inclusive neutral Higgs boson in the tautau final state and in association with a b quark in the btautau and bbb final states. These results are combined to improve the sensitivity to the production of neutral Higgs bosons in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The data are found to be consistent with expectation from background processes. Upper limits on MSSM Higgs boson production are…
The neutral Higgs sector of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) with explicit CP violation is investigated at the 1-loop level, using the effective potential method; not only the loops involving the third generation of quarks and scalar quarks, but also the loops involving $W$ boson, charged Higgs boson, and chargino are taken into account. It is found that for some parameter values of the NMSSM the contributions from the $W$ boson, charged Higgs boson, and chargino loops may modify the masses of the neutral Higgs bosons and the mixings among them significantly, depending…
The second part of this review is devoted to the Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. The properties of the neutral and charged Higgs bosons of the extended Higgs sector are summarized and their decay modes and production mechanisms at hadron colliders and at future lepton colliders are reviewed.
We consider radiative corrections to the decay rate $Γ(H\rightarrow ZZ)$ of the heavy {\it CP}-even Higgs boson of the minimal supersymmetric model to two $Z$ bosons. We perform a one loop Feynman diagram calculation in the on-mass-shell renormalization scheme, and include the third generation of quarks and squarks. The tree level rate is suppressed by a mixing angle factor and decreases as $1/M_H$ for large $M_H$. The corrected rate overcomes this suppression and increases with $M_H$ for $M_H > 500$~GeV. The corrections can be very large and depend in detail on the top squark masses and $A$-t…
The minimal $U(1)_X$ extension of the Standard Model (SM) is a simple and well-motivated extension of the SM, which supplements the SM with the seesaw mechanism for naturally generating the light neutrino masses and offers various interesting phenomenologies. In the model, the $U(1)_X$ charge of each SM field is characterized by the $U(1)_X$ charge of the SM Higgs doublet with a free parameter $x_H$. Due to the $U(1)_X$ charge of the Higgs doublet, the Higgs boson has a trilinear coupling with the $Z$ boson and the $U(1)_X$ gauge boson ($Z^\prime$). With this coupling, a new process for the as…
We investigate the prospects for the discovery at the CERN Large Hadron Collider of a neutral Higgs boson produced with one bottom quark followed by Higgs decay into a muon pair. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric model. The dominant physics background from the production of $b μ^+μ^-$, $jμ^+μ^-$, j=g,u,d,s,c, and $b {\bar b} W^+W^-$ is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons with masses up to 600 GeV. This discovery channel with one energetic bottom qu…
We investigate the prospects for the discovery at the CERN Large Hadron Collider or at the Fermilab Tevatron of neutral Higgs bosons through the channel where the Higgs are produced together with a single bottom quark and the Higgs decays into a pair of tau leptons, $bg \to bϕ^0 \to bτ^+τ^-, ϕ^0 = h^0, H^0, A^0$. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric model. The dominant physics background from the production of $bτ^+τ^-$, $jτ^+τ^-$ ($j = g, u, d, s, c$), $b\bar{b}W^+W^-$, $W+2j$ and $Wbj$ is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies. Promising results are …
In these lectures we present a brief review of the Higgs boson sector in the ``Standard Model'', and its Minimal Supersymmetric Extension, with particular emphasis on the main mechanisms for Higgs production and decay at LEP2 and LHC, and theoretical bounds on the Higgs boson masses. In the ``Standard Model'' the effective potential can develop a non-standard minimum for values of the field much larger than the weak scale. Comparison of the decay rate to the non-standard minimum at finite (and zero) temperature with the corresponding expansion rate of the Universe allows to identify the region…
We investigate focus points of the renormalization group equations of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We show that within this model the up- and down-type Higgs mass soft supersymmetry breaking parameters have focus point behavior at the electroweak scale simultaneously when appropriate conditions are fulfilled. The focus point scenario is holding for large $\tan β$. This two focus point scenario allows to fix the pole top-quark mass which is within the experimentally allowed interval. The main goal of the present paper is the investigation of the influence of the existence of focus…
