We investigate the prospects for the discovery at the CERN Large Hadron Collider or at the Fermilab Tevatron of neutral Higgs bosons through the channel where the Higgs are produced together with a single bottom quark and the Higgs decays into a pair of tau leptons, $bg \to bϕ^0 \to bτ^+τ^-, ϕ^0 = h^0, H^0, A^0$. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric model. The dominant physics background from the production of $bτ^+τ^-$, $jτ^+τ^-$ ($j = g, u, d, s, c$), $b\bar{b}W^+W^-$, $W+2j$ and $Wbj$ is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons with masses up to one TeV.
We investigate the prospects for the discovery at the CERN Large Hadron Collider of a neutral Higgs boson produced with one bottom quark followed by Higgs decay into a muon pair. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric model. The dominant physics background from the production of $b μ^+μ^-$, $jμ^+μ^-$, j=g,u,d,s,c, and $b {\bar b} W^+W^-$ is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$) and the heavier CP-even scalar ($H^0$) Higgs bosons with masses up to 600 GeV. This discovery channel with one energetic bottom qu…
We investigate the prospects for the discovery of a neutral Higgs boson produced with one bottom quark followed by Higgs decay into a pair of bottom quarks at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We work within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The dominant physics background is calculated with realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies including the production of $bb\bar{b}$, $\bar{b}b\bar{b}$, $jb\bar{b}$ ($j = g, q, \bar{q}$; $q = u, d, s, c$), $t\bar{t} \to b\bar{b}jj\ellν$, and $t\bar{t} \to b\bar{b}jjjj$. Promising results are…
The recent results of neutrino experiments indicate the existence of the right-handed neutrinos with masses around intermediate scale, which affects the prediction of the bottom-tau mass ratio. In the minimal supersymmetric standard model, this effect largely depends on the right-handed neutrino mass scale and then may severely limit its lower bound. In this letter, we show that in the case of strong coupling unification the bottom-tau mass ratio is little affected by the presence of the right-handed neutrinos. This is because of the infrared fixed-point behavior of Yukawa couplings, which is …
The two-loop ``top-down'' renormalization group flow for the top, bottom and tau Yukawa couplings is explored in the framework of supersymmetric grand unification; reproduction of the physical bottom and tau masses is required. Instead of following the recent trend of implementing exact Yukawa coupling unification i) a search for infrared (IR) fixed lines and fixed points in the m(top)-tan(beta) plane is performed and ii) the extent to which these imply approximate Yukawa unification is determined. Two IR fixed lines, intersecting in an IR fixed point, are located. The more attractive fixed li…
We present a supersymmetric SU(5) x U(1)_H model, free from gauge anomalies, where the Abelian factor U(1)_H, introduced to account for the hierarchy of fermion masses and mixings, is broken by the same adjoint representations of SU(5) that also break the GUT symmetry. The model predicts approximate, but never exact, bottom-tau Yukawa unification. The deviations are related to group theoretical coefficients and can naturally be at the level of 10%-20%.
An analysis is made on bottom-tau Yukawa unification in supersymmetric (SUSY) SU(5) grand unified theory (GUT) in the framework of minimal supergravity, in which the parameter space is restricted by some experimental constraints including Br(b to s gamma) and muon g-2. The bottom-tau unification can be accommodated to the measured branching ratio Br(b to s gamma) if superparticle masses are relatively heavy and higgsino mass parameter μis negative. On the other hand, if we take the latest muon g-2 data to require positive SUSY contributions, then wrong-sign threshold corrections at SUSY scale …
We discuss the unification of the bottom quark and tau lepton Yukawa couplings within the framework of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. We compare the allowed regions of the $m_t$-$\tan β$ plane to those in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and find that over much of the parameter space the deviation between the predictions of two models is small, and nearly always much less than the effect of current theoretical and experimental uncertainties in the bottom quark mass and the strong coupling constant. However over some regions of parameter space top-bottom Yukawa uni…
In the MSSM extended by a complete vectorlike family, precise top, bottom and tau Yukawa coupling unification can be achieved assuming SUSY threshold corrections which are typical for comparable superpartner masses. Furthermore, the unification is possible with a large unified coupling, implying that all three fermion masses can be simultaneously close to their IR fixed points. Assuming unified Yukawa couplings of order one or larger, the preferred common scale of new physics (superpartners and vectorlike matter) is in the 3 TeV to 30 TeV range, with larger couplings favoring smaller scales. S…
We examine the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) with an additional requirement of strict b - tau unification in the region of small tan(beta). We find that the parameter space becomes completely limited below about 1 TeV by physical constraints alone, without a fine-tuning constraint. We study the resulting phenomenological consequences, and point out several ways of falsifying the adopted b - tau unification assumption. We also comment on the effect of a constraint from the non-observation of proton decay.
In the presence of ${\bf 126 + \bar{126}}$ Higgs multiplets in a SO(10) theory, the fermion masses get contributions from an induced vacuum expectation value (VEV) of a $SU(2)_L$ doublet residing in ${\bf 126}$ which differentiates between quarks and leptons by a relative sign leading to a significant correction to the prediction of the mass ratio of the bottom quark and the tau lepton for ranges of the mass of this extra doublet. We perform a two-loop renormalization group analysis of the minimal version of the one-step supersymmetric SO(10) model to display this and re-calculate the correcti…
The constrained Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cNMSSM) with mSugra-like boundary conditions at the GUT scale implies a singlino-like LSP with a mass just a few GeV below a stau NLSP. Hence, most of the squark/gluino decay cascades contain two tau leptons. The gluino mass >~ 1.2 TeV is somewhat larger than the squark masses of >~ 1 TeV. We simulate signal and background events for such a scenario at the LHC, and propose cuts on the transverse momenta of two jets, the missing transverse energy and the transverse momentum of a hadronically decaying tau lepton. This dedicated analy…
We investigate modification of Kolmogorov wave turbulence in QCD calculating gluon spectra as functions of time in the presence of a low energy source which feeds in energy density in the infrared region at a time-dependent rate. Then considering the picture of saturation constraints as has been constructed in the "bottom-up" thermalization approach we revisit that picture for RHIC center-mass energy, $W = 130 {GeV}$, and also extend it to LHC center-mass energy, $W = 5500 {GeV}$, thus for two cases having an opportunity to calculate the equilibration time, $tau_{eq|therm}$, of the gluon syste…
We propose an $A_4$ extension of the Standard Model with a Lepton Quarticity symmetry correlating dark matter stability with the Dirac nature of neutrinos. The flavor symmetry predicts (i) a generalized bottom-tau mass relation involving all families, (ii) small neutrino masses are induced a la seesaw, (iii) CP must be significantly violated in neutrino oscillations, (iv) the atmospheric angle $θ_{23}$ lies in the second octant, and (v) only the normal neutrino mass ordering is realized.
Third family Yukawa unification, as suggested by minimal SO(10) unification, is revisited in light of recent experimental measurements and theoretical progress. We characterize unification in a semi-model-independent fashion, and conclude that finite $b$ quark mass corrections from superpartners must be nonzero, but much smaller than naively would be expected. We show that a solution that does not require cancellations of dangerously large tanbeta effects in observables implies that scalar superpartner masses should be substantially heavier than the Z scale, and perhaps inaccessible to all cur…
We consider $b$-$τ$ unification in supersymmetric $SU(5)$ grand unified theories (GUTs) with extra matters. The renormalization group runnings of $b$ and $τ$ Yukawa coupling constants may be significantly affected by the existence of extra matters. If the extra matters interact with the standard model particles (and their superpartners) only through gauge interaction, the ratio of the $b$ to $τ$ Yukawa coupling constants at the GUT scale becomes suppressed compared to the case without extra matters. This is mainly due to the change of the renormalization group running of the $SU(3)_C$ gauge co…
We show that the transverse polarization asymmetry of the $τ$-lepton in the decay $t\rightarrow b τν$ is extremely sensitive to CP violating phases arising from the charged Higgs exchange in the Weinberg model of CP non-conservation. Qualitatively, the polarization asymmetries are enhanced over rate or energy asymmetries by a factor of $\approx {m_t\over m_τ}\approx O(100)$. Thus for optimal values of the parameters the method requires $\approx 10^4$ top pairs to be observable rather than $10^7$ needed for rate or energy asymmetries. We also examine $τ$ polarization in b decays via $b \rightar…
Upward and horizontal tau Air-showers emerging from the Earth crust or mountain chains are the most powerful signals of Ultra High Energy UHE neutrinos nu_{tau}, barν_{tau} and bar{nu}_e at PeVs and higher energy. The multiplicity in tau Air-showers secondary particles, N_{opt}=10^{12}(E_{tau}/PeV), N_{gamma}= 10^8*E_{tau}/PeV, N_{e^- e^+}= 2*10^7 E_{tau}/PeV, N_{mu}= 3 *10^5 (E_{tau}/PeV)^{0.85} make easy their discover. UHE nu_tau,barν_tau, following Super Kamiokande evidence of neutrino flavor mixing, nu_mu<-->nu_tau, should be as abundant as nu_mu, barν_mu. Also anti-neutrino electrons, ba…
The chiral structure of supersymmetric particle couplings involving third generation Standard Model fermions depends on left-right squark and slepton mixings as well as gaugino-higgsino mixings. The shapes and intercorrelations of invariant mass distributions of a first or second generation lepton with bottoms and taus arising from adjacent branches of SUSY cascade decays are shown to be a sensitive probe of this chiral structure. All possible cascade decays that can give rise to such correlations within the MSSM are considered. For bottom-lepton correlations the distinctive structure of the i…
A possible composite nature of the Higgs could be revealed at the early stage of the LHC, by analyzing the channels where the Higgs is produced from the decay of a heavy fermion. The Higgs production from a singly-produced heavy bottom, in particular, proves to be a promising channel. For a value λ=3 of the Higgs coupling to a heavy bottom, for example, we find that, considering a 125 GeV Higgs which decays into a pair of b-quarks, a discovery is possible at the 8 TeV LHC with 30 fb^{-1} if the heavy bottom is lighter than roughly 530 GeV (while an observation is possible for heavy bottom mass…
We carry out an event generator based study to evaluate the usefulness of the the exclusive signature ``$e^\pm (μ^\pm) + 2$ bottom jets'' in discovering the Higgs boson at the Tevatron. Using an event generator, we show that with enough luminosity, one should be able to detect the Higgs boson up to the mass of about 130 GeV. We consider a slightly modified version of the above signature that includes one extra jet. This new signature is more useful because it increases the number of signal events significantly.
We study the potential of International Linear Collider (ILC) at sqrt(s) = 500 GeV to probe new dark matter motivated scenario where the bottom squark (sbottom) is the next to lightest supersymmetric particle. For this scenario, which is virtually impossible for the LHC to test, the ILC has a potential to cover a large fraction of the parameter space. The challenge is due to a very low energy of jets, below 20-30 GeV, which pushes the jet clustering and flavour tagging algorithms to their limits. The process of sbottom pair production was studied within the SiD detector concept. We demonstrate…
We consider Higgs boson pair production at a future proton collider with centre-of-mass energy of 100 TeV, focusing on rare final states that include a bottom-anti-bottom quark pair and multiple isolated leptons: $hh \rightarrow (b\bar{b}) + n \ell + X$, $n = \{2,4\}$, $X = \{ E_T^\mathrm{miss}, γ, -\}$. We construct experimental search strategies for observing the process through these channels and make suggestions on the desired requirements for the detector design of the future collider.
We consider the process $p p \to t {\bar t} H$. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. The signatures can have electrons, muons and jets. We consider the signatures that have two electrons/muons and jets. Tagging of a tau jet and a bottom jet can help reduce the backgrounds significantly. In particular, we examine the usefulness of the signatures "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + a tau jet", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 tau jets", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 bottom jets + a tau jet", and "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + 2 tau jets". We f…
We study the Yukawa unification, in particular, the unification of the Yukawa coupling constants of $b$ and $τ$, in the framework of supersymmetric (SUSY) model. We concentrate on the model in which the SUSY breaking scalar masses are of the order of the gravitino mass while the gaugino masses originate from the effect of anomaly mediation and hence are one-loop suppressed relative to the gravitino mass. We perform an accurate calculation of the Yukawa coupling constants of $b$ and $τ$ at the grand unified theory (GUT) scale, including relevant renormalization group effects and threshold corre…
We calculate the branching ratios of chi_{b0} --> tau+ tau- via an s-channel Higgs boson and estimate the sensitivity to this process from Upsilon --> gamma chi_{b0} --> gamma tau+ tau-. We show that future running at the Upsilon(3S) at a very high luminosity super B factory can put significant constraints on the Type-II two-Higgs-doublet model when the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson is the heavier of the two CP-even scalars.
Many models of electroweak symmetry breaking have an additional light pseudoscalar. If the Higgs boson can decay to a new pseudoscalar, LEP searches for the Higgs can be significantly altered and the Higgs can be as light as 86 GeV. Discovering the Higgs boson in these models is challenging when the pseudoscalar is lighter than 10 GeV because it decays dominantly into tau leptons. In this paper, we discuss discovering the Higgs in a subdominant decay mode where one of the pseudoscalars decays to a pair of muons. This search allows for potential discovery of a cascade-decaying Higgs boson with …
The mass of the eta_b(1S), measured recently by BABAR, is significantly lower than expected from QCD predictions for the Upsilon(1S) - eta_b(1S) hyperfine splitting. We suggest that the observed eta_b(1S) mass is shifted downwards due to a mixing with a CP-odd Higgs scalar A with a mass m_A in the range 9.4 - 10.5 GeV compatible with LEP, CLEO and BABAR constraints. We determine the resulting predictions for the spectrum of the eta_b(nS) - A system and the branching ratios into tau^+ tau^- as functions of m_A.
Ultra high energy neutrinos UHE neutrino Tau, anti-neutrino Tau, anti-neutrino electron at PeVs, and higher energy may induce tau air-showers whose detectability is million to billion times amplified by their secondaries. We considered UHE nu_{tau}- N and UHE barν_{e}- e interactions beyond mountains as a source of such horizontal amplified Tau air-showers. We also consider vertical upward UHE nu_{tau}-N interaction on Earth crust leading to UHE Tau airshowers {UPTAUS} or at the horizont edges {HORTAUS} and their beaming toward high mountains gamma, X, Cherenkov detectors on mountains. We show…
Solar neutrino flares astronomy is at the edge of its discover. High energy flare particles (protons, alpha) whose self scattering within the solar corona is source of a rich prompt charged pions are also source of sharp solar neutrino "burst" (at tens-hundred MeV) produced by their pion-muon primary decay in flight. This brief (minute) solar neutrino "burst" at largest peak overcome by four-five order of magnitude the steady atmospheric neutrino noise at the Earth. Later on, solar flare particles hitting the terrestrial atmosphere may marginally increase the atmospheric neutrino flux without …
In this article we consider the possibility of observing nonstandard Higgs bosons in the H -> Z A -> Z tau+ tau- channel. We present three benchmark scenarios in the NMSSM where H -> ZA is the dominant decay mode for one of the nonstandard Higgs bosons while the lightest CP-even Higgs is Standard Model like. Using the latest CMS multilepton analysis based on 7 TeV LHC data, we put limits on the signal cross-section, which constrain leptophilic scenarios. Projecting to future LHC analyses with improvements in background modeling, we show that with O(30) fb^{-1} of data, such a multilepton analy…
We investigate a potential of discovering lepton flavor violation (LFV) at the Large Hadron Collider. A sizeable LFV in low energy supersymmetry can be induced by massive right-handed neutrinos, which can explain neutrino oscillations via the seesaw mechanism. We investigate a scenario where the distribution of an invariant mass of two hadronically decaying taus ($\tauh\tauh$) from $\schizero{2}$ decays is the same in events with or without LFV. We first develop a transfer function using this ditau mass distribution to model the shape of the non-LFV $\tauhμ$ invariant mass. We then show the fe…
We study the prospects of discovering CP-violation in the production of tau-leptons in the reaction {e+e- --> tau+tau- at TESLA, an e+e- linear collider with center-of-mass energies of 500 or even 800 GeV. Non-vanishing expectation values of certain correlations between the momenta of the decay products of the two tau leptons would signalthe presence of CP-violation beyond the standard model. We study how longitudinal beam polarization of the electron and positron beams will enhance these correlations. We find that T-odd and T-even vector correlations are well suited for the measurements of th…
Analytic formulae are given for order alpha_s perturbative QCD corrections to the double differential distribution of the tau lepton energy and the invariant mass of the tau + antineutrino system in semileptonic decays of the bottom quark. The corresponding distribution for B meson decays are obtained by combining these results and the nonperturbative QCD corrections calculated by Falk et al. The moments of the energy distribution of the tau lepton are calculated.
Masses of heavy Standard Model fermions (top-quark, bottom-quark, and tau-lepton) play an important role in the analysis of theories beyond the SM. They serve as low-energy input and reduce the parameter space of such theories. In this paper Minimal supersymmetric extension of the SM is considered and two-loop relations between known SM values of fermion masses and running parameters of the MSSM are studied within the effective theory approach. Both b-quark and tau-lepton have the same quantum numbers with respect to SU(2) groupand in the MSSM acquire their masses due to interactions with the …
We show that the discovery channel for dark matter (DM) production at colliders can be through flavor violating interactions resulting in a novel signature of a single top and large missing transverse energy. We discuss several examples where the production of DM is dominated by flavor violating couplings: minimal flavor violating models with a large bottom Yukawa, models with horizontal symmetries, and DM in nontrivial flavor group representations. Discovery at the 7 TeV LHC with a few fb^-1 may already be possible.
We consider a class of seven-dimensional N=1 supersymmetric orbifold GUTs in which the Standard Model (SM) gauge couplings and one of the Yukawa couplings (top quark, bottom quark or tau lepton) are unified, without low energy supersymmetry, at M_{GUT} \simeq 4 \times 10^{16} GeV. With gauge-top quark Yukawa coupling unification the SM Higgs boson mass is estimated to be 135 \pm 6 GeV, which increases to 144 \pm 4 GeV for gauge-bottom quark (or gauge-tau lepton) Yukawa coupling unification.
We study flavor changing effects on the \ppbchT process at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC), which are inspired by the left-handed up-type squark mixings in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM). We find that the SUSY QCD radiative corrections to $bcH^\pm$ coupling can significantly enhance the cross sections at the tree-level by a factor about $1.5 \sim 5$ with our choice of parameters. We conclude that the squark mixing mechanism in the MSSM makes the \ppbchT process a new channel for discovering a charged Higgs boson and investigating flavor changing effects.
We study the effective field theory sensitivity of an LHC analysis for the $τν$ final state with an associated b-jet. To illustrate the improvement due to the b-tagging, we first recast the recent CMS analysis in the $τν$ channel, using an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, and provide limits on all the dimension-six effective operators which contribute to the process. The expected limits from the b-tagged analysis are then derived and compared. We find an improvement of approximately $\sim 30\%$ in the bounds for operators with a b quark. We also discuss in detail p…
We investigate the prospects for the discovery of neutral Higgs bosons produced with a bottom quark where the Higgs decays into a pair of tau leptons and the taus decay into an electron-muon pair, i.e. $bg \to bϕ^0 \to bτ^+τ^- \to be^\pmμ^\mp + E\!\!\!/_T$, $ϕ^0 = h^0, H^0, A^0$. Our study has been done within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We consider the dominant physics backgrounds including the production of Drell-Yan processes ($bτ^+τ^-$ and $jτ^+τ^-, j = q, g$), top quark pair ($t\bar{t}$), $tW$ and $jWW$ with realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies. We pr…
Theoretical predictions for the decay width of Standard Model Higgs boson into bottom quarks and tau-leptons, in the case when M_H< 2M_W, are briefly reviewed. The effects of higher order perturbative QCD (up to alpha_s^4-level) and QED corrections are considered. The uncertainties of the decay width of Higgs boson into bb and tau+tau- are discussed.
We consider the possible production of the Higgs Boson in association with a top-quark pair and its subsequent decay into a tau-lepton pair or a W-boson pair. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. These signatures can have electrons, muons, tau jets, bottom jets and/or light flavour jets. We analyze the viability of some of these signatures. We will look at those signatures where the background is minimal. In particular, we explore the viability of the signatures "isolated 4 electron/muon" and "isolated 3 electron/muon + a jet" The jet can be due to a light flavour …
We investigate the impact of the tau and bottom Yukawa couplings on the transport dynamics for electroweak baryogenesis in supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model. Although it has generally been assumed in the literature that all Yukawa interactions except those involving the top quark are negligible, we find that the tau and bottom Yukawa interaction rates are too fast to be neglected. We identify an illustrative "lepton-mediated electroweak baryogenesis" scenario in which the baryon asymmetry is induced mainly through the presence of a left-handed leptonic charge. We derive analytic …
The neutral Higgs sector of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) in explicit CP violation scenario is investigated at the one-loop level. Within the context of the effective potential formalism, the masses of the neutral Higgs bosons are calculated at the one-loop level by taking into account the contributions of the following loops of ordinary particles and superpartners: top quark, the scalar top quarks, bottom quark, the scalar bottom quarks, tau lepton, the scalar tau leptons, $W$ boson, the charged Higgs boson, the charginos, $Z$ boson, the scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs bosons…
We consider a spin-0 unparticle and calculate its contribution to the weak properties of a fermion, which in the proper limit reduce to previously reported results for the electromagnetic properties. We then obtain an estimate for the electromagnetic and weak properties of the tau lepton. For the unparticle parameters, we consider the most recent bounds from the lepton flavor violating decay tau -> 3 mu, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, and the data for monojet production plus missing transverse energy at the LHC. In the most promising promising scenario, it is found that the unparticle con…
The Yukawa couplings of the tau lepton and the bottom quark become comparable to, or even exceed, electroweak gauge couplings for large values of the SUSY parameter $\tanβ$. As a result, the lightest tau slepton $\ttau_1$ and bottom squark $\tb_1$ can be significantly lighter than corresponding sleptons and squarks of the first two generations. Gluino, chargino and neutralino decays to third generation particles are significantly enhanced when $\tanβ$ is large. This affects projections for collider experiment reach for supersymmetric particles. In this paper, we evaluate the reach of the Fermi…
We study gauge and Yukawa coupling unification in the simplest extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) which incorporates R-Parity violation through a bilinear superpotential term. Contrary to what happens in the MSSM, we show that bottom-tau unification at the scale M_GUT where the gauge couplings unify can be achieved for any value of tan(beta) by choosing appropriately the sneutrino vacuum expectation value. In addition, we show that bottom-tau-top unification occurs in a slightly wider tan(beta) range than in the MSSM.
We study the SUSY SO(10) GUT with the symmetric two-zero textures of quark/lepton mass matrix which realize the Georgei-Jarlskog relations in down-type quark and charged lepton masses. We show that the important constraints to such framework come from the bottom-tau unification and the observed value of $\sin2β$, one of the angles in the CKM unitarity triangle. We investigate the symmetric two-zero textures assumed at the GUT scale by solving the MSSM renormalization group equations with right-handed neutrino threshold effects. As a result, the value of $\tan\tildeβ$ is constrained to be large…
The condition of unification of gauge couplings in the minimal supersymmetric standard model provides successful predictions for the weak mixing angle as a function of the strong gauge coupling and the supersymmetric threshold scale. In addition, in some scenarios, e.g.\ in the minimal SO(10) model, the tau lepton and the bottom and top quark Yukawa couplings unify at the grand unification scale. The condition of Yukawa unification leads naturally to large values of $\tanβ$, implying a proper top quark--bottom quark mass hierarchy. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of unification of…
I analyze the predictions for the strong gauge coupling, $α_3(M_Z) $, and the top quark and light Higgs masses in the framework of gauge and bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. These predictions depend on the effective supersymmetric threshold scale $T_{SUSY}$, which is only very slightly dependent on the squark and slepton masses, and strongly dependent on the Higgsino masses as well as on the mass ratio of the gauginos of the strong and weak interactions. Within the minimal supersymmetry breaking scheme and for supersymmetric masses below or o…
We present the complete 2-loop renormalization group equations of the supersymmetric standard model. We thus explicitly include the full set of $R $-parity violating couplings, including $κ_iL_iH_2$. We use these equations to do a first study of $(a)$ gauge coupling unification, $(b)$ bottom-tau unification, $(c)$ the fixpoint structure of the top quark Yukawa coupling, and (d) two-loop bounds from perturbative unification. We find significant shifts which can be larger than the effect from the top quark Yukawa coupling. The value of $α_3(M_Z)$ can change by $\pm5\%$. The $\tanβ$ region for bo…
We review some properties of Bilinear R-Parity Violating models: simple extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model motivated by spontaneous breaking of R-Parity. We concentrate on the relaxation of the bounds on the charged Higgs mass imposed by the measurement of B(b -> s gamma), the effect on the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson, the radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry, the unification of bottom and tau Yukawa couplings, and the relation of these phenomena to the radiatively generated tau-neutrino mass.
The status of top-bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification in supersymmetric SO(10) models is reviewed with a particular emphasis on the implications of the Higgs boson mass in the vicinity of 125 GeV, as suggested by the LHC Higgs data. In addition, the recently proposed model with negative μ, D-term splitting of the soft scalar masses and non-universal gaugino masses generated by a non-zero F-term in a 24-dimensional representation of SU(5) \subset SO(10) is re-analysed in the context of the 125 GeV Higgs. The condition of top-bottom-tau Yukawa unification together with the Higgs mass of about…
We calculate the production cross section of the ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson via gluon fusion in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with explicit CP violation in the stop sector. We show that there is a parameter region in which the cross section is enhanced by a factor of about 1000, as compared to the case without CP violation in the stop sector. In the parameter region where the ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson can decay into a stop pair, the stop pair events will be the important signature of the enhanced ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson. In the case where the ``CP-odd'' Higgs boson cannot decay into any su…
We present partial numerical results in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with soft breaking of supersymmetry, and radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry. We impose the additional relation, bottom mass = tau mass at the GUT scale. For the special case of the strict no-scale model, in which global supersymmetry breaking arises solely from soft gaugino masses, we find that the top mass is expected to be lighter than about 128 GeV. A higher upper bound for the top mass of about 138 GeV is predicted, if the mass of the bottom is at the lower end of its experimental uncertainty.
We show that the cross section of at least one of the s-channel processes e-e- (mu-mu-) --> l_i^- l_i^-, i=e,mu,tau, mediated by a doubly-charged scalar triplet bilepton is bounded from below and observable at a linear or muon collider if one of the light neutrinos has a mass in the range where it is required to be unstable by cosmological considerations. The result is model independent. We therefore stress the importance of the e-e- and mu-mu- collision modes of the future colliders for discovering new physics.
