The chiral structure of supersymmetric particle couplings involving third generation Standard Model fermions depends on left-right squark and slepton mixings as well as gaugino-higgsino mixings. The shapes and intercorrelations of invariant mass distributions of a first or second generation lepton with bottoms and taus arising from adjacent branches of SUSY cascade decays are shown to be a sensitive probe of this chiral structure. All possible cascade decays that can give rise to such correlations within the MSSM are considered. For bottom-lepton correlations the distinctive structure of the invariant mass distributions distinguishes between decays originating from stop or sbottom squarks through either an intermediate chargino or neutralino. For decay through a chargino the spins of the stop and chargino are established by the form of the distribution. When the bottom charge is signed through soft muon tagging, the structure of the same-sign and opposite-sign invariant mass distributions depends on a set function of left-right and gaugino-higgsino mixings, as well as establishes the spins of all the superpartners in the sequential two-body cascade decay. Tau-lepton and tau-tau invariant mass distributions arising from MSSM cascade decays are likewise systematically considered with particular attention to their dependence on tau polarization. All possible tau-lepton and tau-tau distributions are plotted using a semi-analytic model for hadronic one-prong taus. Algorithms for fitting tau-tau and tau-lepton distributions to data are suggested.
We study the range of Higgs masses predicted by High-Scale Supersymmetry and by Split Supersymmetry, using the matching condition for the Higgs quartic coupling determined by the minimal field content. In the case of Split Supersymmetry, we compute for the first time the complete next-to-leading order corrections, including two-loop renormalization group equations and one loop threshold effects. These corrections reduce the predicted Higgs mass by a few GeV. We investigate the impact of the recent LHC Higgs searches on the scale of supersymmetry breaking. In particular, we show that an upper b…
Using the facts that in Gauge-Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking schemes, masses of the right and the left sfermions can differ widely, and the gravitino is the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle, we show that it is possible to obtain unambiguous signatures of such schemes in a high energy $e^+e^-$ collider if one looks at the asymmetries in the cross-sections for certain final states with left-and right-polarized beams.
We determine the ability of future experiments to observe supersymmetric contributions to the rare decays $B \to X_s γ$ and $B \to X_s l^+l^-$. A global fit to the Wilson coefficients which contribute to these decays is performed from Monte Carlo generated data. This fit is then compared to supersymmetric predictions for several different patterns of the superpartner spectrum.
Specific models of supersymmetry breaking predict relations between the trilinear and bilinear soft supersymmetry breaking parameters A_0 and B_0 at the input scale. Models with A_0 = B_0 + m_0 as well as the simplest Polonyi model with A_0 = (3 - \sqrt{3}) m_0 are discussed. In such cases, the value of \tanb can be calculated as a function of the scalar masses m_0 and the gaugino masses m_{1/2}, and various experimental constraints can be applied to constrain it.
We discuss the prospect of studying physics at short distances, such as Planck length or GUT scale, using supersymmetry as a probe. Supersymmetry breaking parameters contain information on all physics below the scale where they are induced. We will gain insights into grand unification (or in some cases string theory) and its symmetry breaking pattern combining measurements of gauge coupling constants, gaugino masses and scalar masses. Once the superparticle masses are known, it removes the main uncertainty in the analysis of proton decay, flavor violation and electric dipole moments. We will b…
ATLAS and CMS report indications of a Higgs boson at M_h 125 GeV. In addition, CMS data show a tenuous bump in the ZZ channel, at about 320 GeV. We make the bold assumption that it might be the indication of a secondary line corresponding to the heaviest scalar Higgs boson of Minimal Supersymmetry, H, and discuss the viability of this hypothesis. We discuss also the case of a heavier H, the relevance of the b bbar decay channel is underlined.
We compute the supersymmetric contributions to the weak charges of the electron and proton in the framework of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We also consider the ratio of neutral current to charged current cross sections, R_nu and R_nubar at nu (nubar)-nucleus deep inelastic scattering, and compare the supersymmetric corrections with the deviations of these quantities from the Standard Model predictions implied by the recent NuTeV measurement.
We propose a new class of models with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking, the cascade supersymmetry breaking. This class of models is consistent with the gravitino mass as low as O(1)eV without having suppressed gaugino masses, nor the Landau pole problems of the gauge coupling constants of the Standard Model below the scale of the grand unification. In particular, there is no supersymmetric vacuum in the vicinity of the supersymmetry breaking vacuum even for such a low gravitino mass. Thus, the model does not have a vacuum stability problem decaying into supersymmetric vacua.
If supersymmetric particles are discovered, an important problem will be to determine how supersymmetry has been broken. At collider energies, supersymmetry breaking can be parameterised by soft supersymmetry breaking parameters. Several mechanisms for supersymmetry breaking have been proposed, which are all characterised by patterns in the high scale values of these parameters. Therefore, looking for such patterns will give us important clues about the way supersymmetry has been broken in Nature. In this master thesis, we study an approach to find these patterns using Renormalisation Group in…
We consider, both for unpolarized and longitudinally polarized electron beams, the production of a top quark pair in e+e- collisions with subsequent semileptonic top and nonleptonic anti-top decay and vice versa and investigate optimized angular correlations which are sensitive to CP non-conservation in the top quark production vertex. We calculate these correlations for two-Higgs--doublet extensions and the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (SM) with CP violation beyond the Kobayashi-Maskawa phase. While the sensitivity of the optimal correlation for tracing dispersive CP…
Gaugino masses might provide useful information on the underlying scheme of supersymmetry breaking as they are least dependent on the unknown physics between the TeV scale and the high messenger scale of supersymmetry breaking. We discuss the pattern of low energy gaugino masses in various schemes of supersymmetry breaking together with the possibility to determine the gaugino masses at LHC.
New self-dualities involving two index tensors are derived. These new self-dualities are used to build various duality cascades. Both vector like and chiral cascades are presented. Aside from ending in confinement, these duality cascades can also end in interacting conformal field theories, free field theories, and meta-stable supersymmetry breaking. Higgsing effects are built into the self-duality so that when the gauge groups are small enough, supersymmetry is broken through the rank condition. Dynamical supersymmetry restoration occurs far from the SUSY breaking vacuum resulting in a long l…
Cascade decays of Supersymmetric (SUSY) particles are likely to be prolific sources of Higgs bosons at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In this work, we explore, with the help of detailed simulation, the role of non-universal gaugino masses in the production of the Higgs bosons under SUSY cascades. The analysis is carried out by choosing an appropriate set of benchmark points with non-universal gaugino masses in the relevant SUSY parameter space and then contrasting the resulting observations with the corresponding cases having universal relationship among the same. It is shown that even of da…
Motivated by the recently measured muon's anomalous magnetic moment $a_μ$, we examine the supersymmetry contribution to $a_μ$ in various mediation models of supersymmetry breaking which lead to predictive flavor conserving soft parameters at high energy scale. The studied models include dilaton/modulus-mediated models in heterotic string/$M$ theory, gauge-mediated model, no-scale or gaugino-mediated model, and also the minimal and deflected anomaly-mediated models. For each model, the range of $a^{SUSY}_μ$ allowed by other experimental constraints, e.g. b --> sγand the collider bounds on super…
The new MEG bound on BR(μ\to eγ) provides the strongest upper bound on the scale of gauge mediation of supersymmetry breaking. If, in the future, this decay is observed by MEG, the mediation scale will become known to within one order of magnitude, and the seesaw scale will be constrained. In such a case, contributions from Planck mediated supersymmetry breaking are likely to be non-negligible, and an interpretation in terms of purely seesaw parameters will be impossible. The recent evidence for |U_{e3}|~0.15 further sharpens the predictions of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking.
A benchmark CP-violating supersymmetric scenario (known in the literature as `CPX-scenario') is studied in the context of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is shown that the LHC, with low to moderate accumulated luminosity, will be able to probe the existing `hole' in the $m_{h_1}$-$\tanβ$ plane, which cannot be ruled out by the Large Electron Positron Collider data. This can be done through associated production of Higgs bosons with top quark and top squark pairs leading to the signal \emph{dilepton + $\leq{5}$ jets (including 3 b-jets) + missing ${p_T}$}. Efficient discrimination of such a…
A benchmark CP-violating supersymmetric scenario (known as 'CPX-scenario' in the literature) is studied in the context of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is shown that the LHC, with low to moderate accumulated luminosity, will be able to probe the existing `hole' in the $m_{h_1}$-$\tanβ$ plane, which cannot be ruled out by the LEP data. We explore the parameter space with cascade decay of third generation squarks and gluino with CP-violating decay branching fractions. We propose a multi-channel analysis to probe this parameter space some of which are background free at an integrated lumino…
A method is described to probe high-scale physics in lower-energy experiments by employing sum rules in terms of renormalisation group invariants. The method is worked out in detail for the study of supersymmetry-breaking mechanisms in the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. To this end sum rules are constructed that test either specific models of supersymmetry breaking or general properties of the physics that underlies supersymmetry breaking, such as unifications and flavour-universality.
In the framework of the NMSSM with a singlino-like LSP, we study quantitatively the impact of the additional bino -> singlino cascade on the efficiencies in several search channels for supersymmetry of the ATLAS and CMS collaborations. Compared to the MSSM, the additional cascade reduces the missing transverse energy, but leads to additional jets or leptons. For the NMSSM benchmark lines which generalize cMSSM benchmark points, the efficiencies in the most relevant 2/3 jet + missing energy search channels can drop by factors ~1/3 to ~1/7, and can reduce the present lower bounds on M_{1/2} by a…
We compute the one-loop supersymmetric (SUSY) contributions to the weak charges of the electron ($Q_W^e$), proton ($Q_W^p$), and cesium nucleus ($Q_W^{\rm Cs}$) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). Such contributions can generate several percent corrections to the corresponding Standard Model values. The magnitudes of the SUSY loop corrections to $Q_W^e$ and $Q_W^p$ are correlated over nearly all of the MSSM parameter space and result in an increase in the magnitudes of these weak charges. In contrast, the effects on $Q_W^{\rm Cs}$ are considerably smaller and are equally likel…
The lack of evidence for the production of colored supersymmetric particles at the LHC has increased interest in searches for superpartners of the electroweak SM gauge bosons, namely the neutralinos and charginos. These are challenging due to the weak nature of the production process, and the existing discovery reach has significant gaps in due to the difficulty of separating the supersymmetric signal from SM diboson events that produce similar final states and kinematics. We apply the Recursive Jigsaw Reconstruction technique to study final states enriched in charged leptons and missing trans…
Higgs signatures from the cascade decays of light stops are an interesting possibility in the next to minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM). We investigate the potential reach of the light stop mass at the 13 TeV run of the LHC by means of five NMSSM benchmark points where this signature is dominant. These benchmark points are compatible with current Higgs coupling measurements, LHC constraints, dark matter relic density and direct detection constraints. We consider single and di-lepton search strategies, as well as the jet-substructure technique to reconstruct the Higgs bosons. We fin…
We quantitatively explore, in the context of the D0 detector at the Tevatron, three very different techniques for observing delayed decays of the lightest neutralino of a simple gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) model to photon plus gravitino. It is demonstrated that the delayed-decay signals considered can greatly increase the region of general GMSB parameter space for which supersymmetry can be detected. In the simple class of models considered, the combination of standard supersymmetry signals and delayed-decay signals potentially yields at least one viable signal for nearly all …
The spin is an important property of a particle. Although it is unlikely to happen, there is still a possibility that two particle with different spins share similar masses. In this paper, we propose a method to probe this kind of mass degeneracy of particles with different spins. We will use the cascade decay $B^+\to X(3872)K^+$, $X(3872)\to D^+D^-$ to explain our method. It can be seen that the possible mass degeneracy of $X(3872)$ can lead interesting behavior in the corresponding cascade decay.
Leptogenic Supersymmetry is a scenario characterized by copious lepton production in cascade decays. Due to the high lepton multiplicity and the lack of significant missing energy, leptogenic supersymmetry provides very clean channels which can be probed already with the early LHC data. Furthermore, the Higgs may be discovered in the h->b bbar mode because the leptons accompanying Higgs production efficiently suppress the background.
We consider supersymmetric SO(10) grand unification where the unified gauge group can break to the Standard Model gauge group through different chains. The breaking of SO(10) necessarily involves the reduction of the rank, and consequent generation of non-universal supersymmetry breaking scalar mass terms. We derive squark and slepton mass relations, taking into account these non-universal contributions to the sfermion masses, which can help distinguish between the different chains through which the SO(10) gauge group breaks to the Standard Model gauge group. We then study some implications of…
In the framework of minimal supersymmetry with general flavour mixing in the squark sector we consider dominant beyond leading order (BLO) effects in the rare processes $\bar{B}\to X_sγ$, $\bar{B}_sμ^+μ^-$ and $\bar{B}_s-B_s$ mixing. We present analytic expressions for corrected vertices, which are applicable in general, and provide a recipe for the inclusion of the dominant and subdominant BLO effects in existing LO calculations. We also derive similar expressions in the mass insertion approximation. We investigate in more detail the focusing effect pointed out in our earlier work, which, at …
We have revisited the prospects of Supersymmetry(SUSY) searches at the LHC with 7 TeV energy along with the prediction of the discovery potential at 8 TeV energy assuming an integrated luminosity 5 $fb ^{-1}$ and 20 $\invfb$ with mSUGRA/CMSSM as a model framework. We discuss further optimization of our selection strategy which is based on the hadronic event shape variables. Evaluating the standard model backgrounds and signal rates in detail we predict the discovery reach in the $m_0 - m_{1/2}$ plane for 7 TeV with 5$\invfb$ luminosity. We also present the discovery reach for 8 TeV energy with…
We study the existence of metastable vacua in cascades based on fractional brane configurations at non-isolated singularities preserving N = 1 supersymmetry. We find that in a large class of models the extra moduli typically generated along such cascades may be stabilized by utilizing special monopole points found recently. We illustrate this in detail for cascades based on the SPP singularity. The supergravity interpretation of these constructions in terms of warped throats with supersymmetry breaking localized near their tips as well as applications to string compactification is discussed. O…
Some mechanisms of supersymmetry breaking result in splitting of the third generation sfermions from the other sfermions. We show that the three-body decay branching ratio of the lighter chargino gives a sensitive probe of the sfermion mass spectrum if the chargino has a large gaugino component.
R-parity conservation is an ad-hoc assumption in the most popular versions of supersymmetric scenarios. Hence R-parity violation (RPV) not only is allowed but, if induced by bilinear terms (bRPV), it also provides an explanation for the observed neutrino masses and mixing. Here bRPV models are discussed, giving emphasis on the $μ$-from-$ν$ supersymmetric standard model, which is characterised by a rich Higgs sector that easily accommodates a 125-GeV Higgs boson. The phenomenology of such models at the Large Hadron Collider is reviewed and some recent results obtained by LHC experiments are pre…
The cosmic history before the BBN is highly determined by the physics that operates beyond the Standard Model (BSM) of particle physics and it is poorly constrained observationally. Ongoing and future precision measurements of the CMB observables can provide us with significant information about the pre-BBN era and hence possibly test the cosmological predictions of different BSM scenarios. Supersymmetry is a particularly motivated BSM theory and it is often the case that different superymmetry breaking schemes require different cosmic histories with specific reheating temperatures or low entr…
We study the potential to observe CP-violating effects in SUSY stop cascade decay chains at the LHC. Asymmetries composed by triple products of momenta of the final state particles are sensitive to CP-violating effects. Due to large boosts that dilute the asymmetries, these can be difficult to observe. If all particle masses in a cascade decay are known, it may be possible to reconstruct all momenta in the decay chains on an event-by-event basis even when we have missing momentum due to a stable LSP. After the reconstruction, the non-diluted CP-violating signal can be recovered and gets signif…
A striking aspect of the recently proposed split supersymmetry is the existence of heavy gluinos which are metastable because of the very heavy squarks which mediate their decay. In this paper we correlate the expected flux of these particles with the accompanying neutrino flux produced in inelastic $pp$ collisions in distant astrophysical sources. We show that an event rate at the Pierre Auger Observatory of approximately 1 yr$^{-1}$ for gluino masses of about 500 GeV is consistent with existing limits on neutrino fluxes. The extremely low inelasticity of the gluino-containing hadrons in thei…
A predictive framework for supersymmetry at the TeV scale is presented, which incorporates the Ciafaloni-Pomarol mechanism for the dynamical determination of the μparameter of the MSSM. It is replaced by (λS), where S is a singlet field, and the axion becomes a heavy pseudoscalar, G, by adding a mass, m_G, by hand. The explicit breaking of Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry is assumed to be sufficiently weak at the TeV scale that the only observable consequence is the mass m_G. Three models for the explicit PQ breaking are given; but the utility of this framework is that the predictions for all physic…
We examine relation between neutrino oscillation parameters and prediction of lepton flavor violation, in light of deviations from tri-bimaximal mixing. Our study shows that upcoming experimental searches for lepton flavor violation process can provide useful implications for neutrino mass spectrum and mixing angles. With simple structure of heavy right-handed neutrino and supersymmetry breaking sectors, the discovery of tau \to mu gamma decay determines neutrino mass hierarchy if large (order 0.1) reactor angle is established.
Leptogenic supersymmetry is a scenario characterized by cascade decays with copious lepton production. Leptogenic models have striking signatures that can be probed by the LHC even in the 10 TeV run with as little as 200 pb^-1 of data, provided the squark masses are about 1 TeV. Leptogenic supersymmetry spectrum arises in several well-motivated models and its signatures are long-lived sleptons, numerous isolated leptons, abundant Higgs production, rather energetic jets, and no missing energy. The Higgs can be discovered in the h->b bbar mode via the 4 leptons+4 jets channel because the leptons…
We consider a search strategy for new physics at the Large Hadron Collider which focuses on the signature of many jets and missing transverse energy, but no charged leptons. We show that this signature can be useful in probing a wide class of models, including natural supersymmetry, in which dark matter is produced in conjunction top quarks. As an example, we apply this strategy to a simplified supersymmetric model with a light gluino, light stop and light neutralino. The efficacy of this strategy is comparable to (and in some cases better than) that of other strategies which require charged l…

In a supersymmetry model with an axino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) and a Bino as the next LSP (NLSP), supersymmetry particles produced in pair at a high energy collider end up with including two Binos, followed by each Bino's decay into a photon and an axino. Final states are diphoton with large missing energy. We have comprehensively studied the implication of $γγ+$MET data from the ALEPH, CDF II, and recent ATLAS and CMS experiments. No excess over the standard model backgrounds can be explained in this model if the NLSP Bino decays outside the detector, which happens when …
The inclusion of trilinear R-parity violating couplings in a supersymmetric theory, has monumental impacts on the phenomenology. Regarding LHC physics, we no longer expect events with a lot of missing transverse energy, but events with large lepton and/or jet multiplicity. Here we present a study where the standard MSSM scenario of squark and gluino pair production and consequent cascade decay to the neutralino, is followed by a three-body decay of the neutralino through any of the 45 allowed trilinear R-parity violating operators. This allows us to study all these operators and detect any hie…
If SUSY is discovered at the LHC, the task will immediately turn to determining the model of SUSY breaking. Here, we employ a Mixed Modulus-Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking (MMAMSB) model with very similar LHC phenomenology to the more conventionally studied Constrained Minimal SUSY Model (CMSSM) and minimal Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking (mAMSB) models. We then study whether the models can be distinguished and measured. If we only fit to the various mass edges and mass end-points from cascade decay chains that are normally studied, a unique determination and measurement of the model is problema…

If supersymmetry is discovered at the LHC, the next question will be the determination of the underlying model. While this may be challenging or even intractable, a more optimistic question is whether we can understand the main contours of any particular paradigm of the mediation of supersymmetry breaking. The determination of superpartner masses through endpoint measurements of kinematic observables arising from cascade decays is a powerful diagnostic tool. In particular, the determination of the gaugino sector has the potential to discriminate between certain mediation schemes (not all schem…
The implications of the latest measurement of the branching fraction of B($ b\rightarrow s γ$) of b hadrons, which is another signature of New Physics beyond Standard Model is presented here. The quark transitions $ b \rightarrow s $, $ b \rightarrow d $ do not happen at tree level in the Standard Model as the Z boson does not couple to quarks of different flavour. In this work the present bounds on the quark transition $ b \rightarrow s $ within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which there are three independent soft SUSY breaking parameters $ …
This report presents possible loopholes in heavy $Z^\prime$ searches which are concentrated around high mass resonances. We present a scenario where massive neutral vector boson $Z^\prime$, predicted by $E_6$-inspired $U(1)^\prime$ models, can become leptophobic due to kinetic mixing between $Z-Z^\prime$. Such a scenario can avoid high-mass dilepton resonance searches. Furthermore, we propose a channel through supersymmetric cascade decays to observe leptophobic $Z^\prime$. We show that it is possible to reach up to $8σ$ at $\sqrt{s} = 14$ TeV and 3 ab$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. This report…
We examine various aspects of supersymmetric particle production at linear $e^+e^-$ colliders operating at a centre of mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV, and integrated luminosity of $\int {\cal L}dt=20-50$ fb$^{-1}$. Working within the framework of the minimal supergravity model with gauge coupling unification and radiative electroweak symmetry breaking (SUGRA), we study various signatures for detection of sparticles, taking into account their cascade decays, and map out the regions of parameter space where these are observable. We also examine strategies to isolate different SUSY processes f…
Recent clarifications of naturalness in supersymmetry robustly require the presence of four light higgsinos with mass ~100-300 GeV while gluinos and (top)-squarks may lie in the multi-TeV range, possibly out of LHC reach. We project the high luminosity (300-3000 fb^{-1}) reach of LHC14 via gluino cascade decays and via same-sign diboson production. We compare these to the reach for neutralino pair production \tz_1\tz_2 followed by \tz_2\to\tz_1\ell^+\ell^- decay to soft dileptons which recoil against a hard jet. It appears that 3000 fb^{-1} is just about sufficient integrated luminosity to pro…
We define a minimal model with Universal Extra Dimensions, and begin to study its phenomenology. The collider signals of the first KK level are surprisingly similar to those of a supersymmetric model with a nearly degenerate superpartner spectrum. The lightest KK particle (LKP) is neutral and stable because of KK-parity. KK excitations cascade decay to the LKP yielding missing energy signatures with relatively soft jets and leptons. Level 2 KK modes may also be probed via their KK number violating decays to Standard Model particles. In either case we provide initial estimates for the discovery…
Motivated by the naturalness and neutrino mass generation, we study a bilinear R-parity violating supersymmetric scenario with a light Higgsino-like lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). We observe that the LSP dominantly decays to $νh$ in a large part of the parameter space, and thus study the pair production of electroweakinos followed by the decays $\tildeχ^\pm_1\to \tildeχ^0_1 W^{\pm*}$ and $\tildeχ^0_1\to νh$. This leads to an interesting signature of Higgs boson pair production associated with significantly large missing transverse energy which is grossly distinct from the di-Higgs pro…
We systematically study the possibility of determining the spin of new particles after their discovery at the LHC. We concentrate on angular correlations in cascade decays. Motivated by constraints of electroweak precision tests and the potential of providing a Cold Dark Matter candidate, we focus on scenarios of new physics in which some discrete symmetry guarantees the existence of stable neutral particles which escape the detector. More specifically, we compare supersymmetry with another generic scenario in which new physics particles have the same spin as their Standard Model partners. A s…
Several extensions of the Standard Model predict the existence of Long-Lived Neutral Particles (LLNPs) with masses in the multi-GeV range and decay lengths of O(100 m) or longer. These particles could be copiously produced at the LHC, but the decay products cannot be detected with the ATLAS or CMS detectors. MATHUSLA is a proposed large-volume surface detector installed near ATLAS or CMS aimed to probe scenarios with LLNPs which offers good prospects for disentangling the physics underlying two-body decays into visible particles. In this work we focus on LLNP decays into three particles with o…
Once new particles are discovered at the LHC and their masses are measured, it will be of crucial importance to determine their spin, in order to identify the underlying new physics model. We investigate the method first suggested by Barr and later extended by others to distinguish between Supersymmetry and alternative models, e.g. Universal Extra Dimensions, in a certain cascade decay. This method uses invariant mass distributions of the outgoing Standard Model particles to measure the spin of intermediate particles, by exploiting the quark/anti-quark asymmetry of the LHC as a pp collider, wh…
In this work we show that the existence of a complete biorthonormal set of eigenvectors of the effective Hamiltonian governing the time evolution of neutral meson system is a necessary condition for diagonalizability of such a Hamiltonian. We also study the possibility of probing the $CPT$ invariance by observing the time dependence of cascade decays of type $P^{\circ}(\bar{P^{\circ}})\to \{M_a,M_b\}X\to fX$ by employing such basis and exactly determine the $CPT$ violation parameter by comparing the time dependence of the cascade decays of tagged $P^{\circ}$ and tagged $\bar{P^{\circ}}$.
We point out that the extra neutralinos and charginos generically appearing in a large class of $E_6$ inspired models lead to distinctive signatures from gluino cascade decays in comparison to those from the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). These signatures involve longer decay chains, more visible transverse energy, higher multiplicities of jets and leptons, and less missing transverse energy than in the MSSM. These features make the gluino harder to discover for certain types of conventional analyses, for example in the 6 jet channel we show that a 1 TeV MSSM gluino may resemble…
