The photoproduction of omega mesons off protons has been studied at the Bonn ELSA accelerator from threshold to E_gamma = 1700 MeV. Linearly polarized beams were produced via coherent bremsstrahlung. Large photon asymmtries in excess of 50% were obtained, whereas the pion asymmetries from omega \to pi^0 gamma are close to zero. The asymmetries do characteristically depend on Theta_{cm} rather than |t| and indicate s-channel resonance formation on top of t-channel exchange processes.
The measurement was performed with circularly polarized photons incident on longitudinally polarized target in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The helicity asymmetry E for $\vecγ\vec{p}\toπ^0p$ was determined at CM energies between 1450 MeV and 2050 MeV and compared to the SAID, MAID, and BnGa partial-wave analyses.
In this paper we propose to investigate the transverse single spin asymmetry in the inelastic $J/Ψ$ photoproduction in $p^\uparrow p$ and $p^\uparrow A$ collisions at RHIC energies. At leading order this process probes the gluon Sivers function. We predict large values for the cross sections, which indicates that its experimental analysis is, in principle, feasible. The rapidity dependence of the single spin asymmetry is presented. We obtain that the asymmetry is strongly dependent on the model used for the gluon Sivers function and that it can be probed by the analysis of the $J/Ψ$ production…
We present herein the most recent BABAR results on direct CP asymmetry measurements in B -> Xs gamma, on partial branching fraction and CP asymmetry measurements in B -> Xs l+l-, on a search for B -> pi/eta l+l- decays, on a search for lepton number violation in B -> X-l+l'+ modes and a study of B-> omega omega and B-> omega phi decays.
We report a new measurement of the beam-spin asymmetry $\boldsymbolΣ$ for the $\vecγ n \rightarrow K^+Σ^-$ reaction using quasi-free neutrons in a liquid-deuterium target. The new dataset includes data at previously unmeasured photon energy and angular ranges, thereby providing new constraints on partial wave analyses used to extract properties of the excited nucleon states. The experimental data were obtained using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS), housed in Hall B of the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab). The CLAS detector measured reaction products from a l…
The GlueX experiment is a photoproduction experiment located at Thomas Jefferson National Lab in Newport News, Virginia. GlueX is capable of making beam asymmetry ($Σ$) measurements using a tagged, linearly-polarized 9 GeV photon beam incident on a hydrogen target. Measurements of the beam asymmetry for the exclusive reactions $γp \rightarrow π^0 p$, $γp \rightarrow ηp$ and $γp \rightarrow η' p$ will provide insight into the meson production mechanisms. GlueX measurements are the first beam asymmetry results for the $η$ and $η'$ in this energy range and are expected to further constrain Regge …
The prediction of single-spin asymmetry in inelastic photoproduction of $J/ψ$ in $ep^\uparrow$ collision is presented. At next-to-leading order, the dominating process is photon-gluon fusion, $γ+g\rightarrow J/ψ+g$ for the production of $J/ψ$ in $e+p^\uparrow\rightarrow J/ψ+X$, which directly probes the gluon Sivers function. Using the non-relativistic QCD based color octet model, the color octet states $\leftidx{^{3}}{S}{_1}^{(8)}$, $\leftidx{^{1}}{S}{_0}^{(8)}$ and $\leftidx{^{3}}{P}{_{J(0,1,2)}}^{(8)}$ contribution to $J/ψ$ production is calculated. Sizable asymmetry is estimated as a funct…
The photoproduction of $ω$ mesons off the proton has been studied in the reaction $γp\to p\,ω$ using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) and the frozen-spin target (FROST) in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. For the first time, the target asymmetry, $T$, has been measured in photoproduction from the decay $ω\toπ^+π^-π^0$, using a transversely-polarized target with energies ranging from just above the reaction threshold up to 2.8 GeV. Significant non-zero values are observed for these asymmetries, reaching about 30-40% in the third-resonance region. New m…
We report a measurement of the $π^-$ photoproduction beam asymmetry for the reaction $\vecγ p \rightarrow π^- Δ^{++}$ using data from the GlueX experiment in the photon beam energy range 8.2--8.8 GeV. The asymmetry $Σ$ is measured as a function of four-momentum transfer $t$ to the $Δ^{++}$ and compared to phenomenological models. We find that $Σ$ varies as a function of $t$: negative at smaller values and positive at higher values of $|t|$. The reaction can be described theoretically by $t$-channel particle exchange requiring pseudoscalar, vector, and tensor intermediaries. In particular, this…
We report on the potentialities offered by a fixed-target experiment at the LHC using the proton and ion LHC beams (AFTER@LHC project) regarding the study of J/psi exclusive-photoproduction in pA and AA collisions. The foreseen usage of polarised targets (hydrogen, deuteron, helium) gives access to measurements of the Single-Transverse-Spin Asymmetries of this exclusive process, therefore allowing one to access the helicity-flip Generalised Parton Distribution (GPD) Eg. We detail the expected yields of photoproduced J/psi in proton-hydrogen and lead-hydrogen collisions and discuss the statisti…
We investigate kaon photoproduction off the neutron target, i.e., $γn \to K^0 Λ$, focusing on the role of nucleon resonances given in the Review of Particle Data Group in the range of $\sqrt{s} \approx 1600 - 2200$ MeV. We employ an effective Lagrangian method and a Regge approach. The strong couplings of nucleon resonances with $KΛ$ vertices are constrained by quark model predictions. The numerical results of the total and differential cross sections are found to be in qualitative agreement with the recent CLAS and FOREST experimental data. We discuss the effects of the narrow nucleon resonan…
We investigate $η$ photoproduction off the neutron target, i.e., $γn \to ηn$, employing an effective Lagrangian method combining with a Regge approach. As a background, we consider nucleon exchange in the $s$-channel diagram and $ρ$- and $ω$-meson Regge trajectories in the $t$ channel. The role of nucleon resonances given in the Review of Particle Data Group in the range of $W \approx 1500 - 2100$ MeV and the narrow nucleon resonance $N(1685,1/2^+)$ is extensively studied. The numerical results of the total and differential cross sections, double polarization observable $E$, and helicity-depen…
We have evaluated pseudoscalar and scalar neutral pion photoproduction in $\vecγp\toπ^0p$ and $\vecγp\to a_0^0p$ above the resonance region and within Regge phenomenology. Our fit, including GlueX $Σ$ pseudoscalar photoproduction data, shows that previous SLAC $Σ$ measurements for $\vecγp \to π^0p$ above $E_γ= 4~\mathrm{GeV}$ are at variance with SLAC data with more recent measurements made by GlueX in vicinity of $E_γ= 9~\mathrm{GeV}$. The Regge model predicts that the beam polarization asymmetry $Σ$ of the scalar meson is opposite to that of pseudoscalar meson photoproduction, however, the c…
